for some reason my brain decided that Maura Sargent in The Raven Cycle looks like Laura Dern and i know that isn’t canonically how she looks but for some reason that’s like the one character my brain gave a fancast to 🤷‍♀️

no but how do people function in Cabeswater cause it literally changes based on your thoughts and my brain is like .. “would you like some horrifying thoughts for no reason other than to make you extremely stressed and scared?” on a daily basis but being in a place where those thoughts become REAL if you even so much as accidentally think about them and in that situation my brain is gonna conjure up the most horrible things because it’s not supposed to…. like at the beginning of BLLB when their in that cave and it’s the whole “don’t think about hornets” thing WELL NOW THATS ALL MY BRAIN IS GONNA THINK ABOUT it’s like how when people meditate they say “clear your thoughts and think about nothing” HOW DO YOU CLEAR YOUR THOUGHTS BECAUSE THEN IM JUST THINKING ABOUT TRYING TO CLEAR MY HEAD LIKE ITS NOT POSSIBLE

anyone else ever reading a book series or watching a tv show and so you look it up on tiktok or tumblr or something because you want to look at posts about it but then end up getting EVERYTHING about it spoiled?

because i do and i don’t know what the last time i was actually unaware of a plot twist or something significant in a book was before reading it because i end up getting things unintentionally spoiled for myself.

my mom and sister are always like “just stop looking up stuff about it” and i get that but i sometimes take months to read book series and i want to look at posts, fan art , and read fan fiction even when i’m not done with the series.

and then when something has a spoiler warning and you all-ready have had stuff spoiled for you but don’t know if it’s going to be something you don’t know or do know.

anyway random other thought but where do y’all read raven cycle fan fiction other than on AO3? cause i cant really find any good ones on there (or do you have any recs)

• the raven cycle (gonna read the dreamer trilogy after)

•percy jackson/heroes of olympus/trials of apollo/magnus chase ( going to probably read kane chronicles after i finish these)

• six of crows (read shadow and bone and wasn’t a super big fan but meh)

would like found family ish type dynamics

if there’s romance either not have it be the only focus (would rather found family content over romance) and some lgbt relationships would be nice (if romance is involved)

don’t want ANY “spicy” scenes (at all) (kissing and stuff is fine but nothing like explicit or really considered “spicy”)

at least some fantasy elements maybe

HELLO EVERYONE I JUST FINISHED THE RAVEN KING( from the Raven Cycle) AND BOY DO I HAVE QUESTIONS

The thing is that I enjoyed the series but I need to solve these doubts of mine to really decided whether or not I really loved it ( also this is going to be a whole lot of basic stuff for you but I am very stupid don't judge me please )

1. WHAT WAS GLENDOWER FOR???? Are you telling me that the magical ley line decided to save poor little Gansey only to make him obsess over something useless??? I'm not even mad that the king was dead , the problem was that finding him didn't solve ANYTHING, nothing in the tomb or on the way to it gave the guys ANY new idea or solution for the situation they were in. And I'm sorry but that is just straight up cruel because it means that Gansey life revolved around a wild goose chase for SO long, in his place I would have been unbelievably frustrated

2. What was Noah's role? Towards the end of the book , when calla and Maura offered to help him pass (?) , he refused , saying that it wasn't time yet. What did he have to do? Why wait? In the end , he goes back and whispers the thing about Glendower to young Gansey and then he goes away and why was it so important that he did it during Gansey's second death? If time is a circle for a spirit he could have gone back any moment, no? I don't get it

+Also about point one I was wondering , maybe getting Gansey to look for Glendower was the only way to get the gang together but no , I'm pretty sure it wasn't, Gansey could have been sent to look for Glendower's daughter ( I don't remember her name lol) , who was weird as fuck but at least she was alive and actually useful and the gang would have still come together

3. At the end of the book Gansey is alive but he is different, he is now bits and pieces that the ley line put together to form a human and how does that work? it can't just be left like this I NEED that to be explored and explained

4. Okay last thing, what did the three women with blue's face and red hands symbolize? I get that they weren't super relevant to the plot and were most definitely a metaphor for something, but my head is really small and I have no idea what they were for

I'm sorry but nothing will ever be more chaotic and deranged and hilarious than Ronan fucking Lynch answering Henry's "Parrish , how are you not dead?" with "it's your bullshit sings , they created a bullshit force field" all cool and unfazed as if Adam had not just almost been CRUSHED TO DEATH

I know that we are all aware of the many similarities between All for the game and The Raven cycle but I feel the need to point them out anyway. These books are all amazing and life changing and I would not recommend them to ANYONE, but everyone in the world needs to read them. They are just books. No they are NOT, they are an experience. You read them for the first time because why not and then you have to re read them constantly because your whole life revolves around them now. They make no fucking sense whatsoever and yet every word is etched into my soul. Everyone in the books has so much past trauma and gains new trauma during the story. Everyone is SO loved. The found families are top tier, and every member would die for the others no questions asked. There's murder. There's abusive parents. There's iconic cars. There's unhinged characters obsessed with random things ( exy- finding a dead Welsh king ). There's ravens. All the characters are lgbtq because we say so. They're stories about finding your place in the world.
