And the light that you left it helps me to see // A way through all the bitterness // A way to who I really want to be

It’s been a long year. On this last day, I’m going to be putting some tributes to some of the great talents that we lost this year.
Because this is a music blog, I will only be posting about musicians, but my thoughts and prayers are with the families of Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Harper Lee, Alan Rickman, Jose Fernandez, Chyna, Gene Wilder and all of the other greats we lost this year.

None can match the talent of Prince. He is an icon, and there may never be anyone like Prince again. Prince was a revolutionary who continues to inspire generations. Even though it’s going to be 2017, you can still party like it’s 1999!
RIP Prince, you are missed.
Another legend who left us in 2016. Leonard Cohen is an inspiration to many, and Halleujah may be one of the best songs ever written.
RIP Leonard Cohen, you are missed.
RIP to Joey Feek, who died of cervical cancer earlier this year. Joey + Rory were such a good country duo. Rory blogged their whole battle, and made a movie about her after she died. They were full of so much love for each other, and for God. They were able to make an album full of hymns before she died, which was something she said she always wanted to do.
RIP Joey Feek, you are missed.

We lost so many great talents this year. David Bowie inspired so many and so many lives were changed because of his music. He is an example of true passion and creativity.
RIP Bowie, you are missed.
RIP Maurice White from Earth, Wind and Fire, who also died earlier this year. Their songs have been the soundtrack to many parties for decades. I hope he’s up there partying in Heaven.
RIP Maurice, you are missed.
Too many people have skipped over the death of Christina Grimmie. She was one of the first people who paved a way for being a successful musician off of YouTube, and was amazing on the Voice. I was lucky enough to be able to see her in concert just a few days before she died. She has such a pure talent and had a heart of gold. This song showcases her amazing talent in piano playing, songwriting and singing. Still super sad from this tragedy, but I know that she is in Heaven right now.
RIP Christina, you are missed.
Heartbroken by the loss of George Michael this year. He has played in my house for literally as long as I can remember. His vocals are unmatched, and his artistry is completely unique. Plus, he has one of the most famous original Christmas songs in history with Last Christmas. His activism for LGBT rights has also been a huge inspiration to many, and he will forever have the most iconic saxophone solo in Careless Whisper.
RIP George, you are missed.
Here’s hoping I won’t have to do as many tribute posts next year.
These are only a few of the great talents we lost this year. To everyone else that we lost, you are missed and my prayers go out to your friends, family and fans.
And if all that there is is this fear of being used // I should go back to being lonely and confused // If i could, I would I swear
After the Grammy’s, I thought I should post another tribute to the late great George Michael. This is one of my favorites of his. You are missed and loved.
