I love Shang Qinghua!

He’s probably my favorite character in SVSSS. I go rabid for him. But the weird thing? I can literally ship him with anyone and be pleased. Like, love me Mobei Jun x Shang Qinghua. Like yaaas let’s enjoy that canon ship. But will also devour SY x SQH, LQG x SQH, LBH x SQH…and the list goes on. As long as Shang Qinghua is in it (and written well) I eat that shit up.

Me at 1AM: Hmmm Shang Qinghua. God!Shang Qinghua. Really fucked up for Mobei-Jun Shang Qinghua. Luo Binghe and Shang Qinghua mirroring of each other in their fucked up ways. Creator and Creature. Shang Qinghua's innocent mask cracking while he protects Mobei-Jun. Shang Qinghua without remorse slaying demons as a vengeful God because they tried to turn Mobei-Jun a fool/kill Mobei-Jun. Yea.

My favorite trope for SVSSS fics is when SQH lacks self-confidence/worth and, let’s be honest, has depression. It feels like it adds so much more depth to this character.

When writers have it so that we know he created this world but has such little regard for himself. Where he’s written to see himself as a disloyal coward—sure, he spied on the sect and yeah, he’d run from a fight—but he forgets that he almost died for Mobei-Jun. That he helped Shen Yuan with his plant body. That he gave LBH that terrible yet effective advice. I like reading that SQH is reliable when to really counts. (And he’s also a total badass but that’s a different post.)

I love fics that pick up on that. Like, seriously, give me that angst.

That was an I.V. line.

An I.V. line hooked up to his hand. What in the? Shang Qinghua felt the cotton in his head expand even more as he took in the fact that he was lying propped up in what was clearly a hospital bed, in a hospital room, with hospital equipment hooked up to him. How much did he have to drink last night?

Shang Qinghua wakes up after a suicide attempt he doesn't remember.

It does not take a genius to know what it means when you ask a servant where your lord has left to and they readily supply the name of an exclusive brothel in between the two realms. Especially when it's after your utterly disastrous first time together.

So he goes away for a bit to clear his head. And promptly gets kidnapped
