Smaugust 2024 - Tumblr Posts
My first (not 100% full) Week of Smaugust2024!

I'm pretty proud of them so far!

Here is the prompt list I'm using!
Day 3 Smaugust: Magic (this took me embarrassingly long pls don't flop ðŸ˜)

Day 4, 5, and 6 of Smaugust! (In order of photos Chonk, Snooze, and Sword)

Smaugust Prompt 1 - 'Scales'
i find drawing scales super soothing and have enjoyed playing with accessory scales and varying sizes so heres that wyvern all finished. most scaled dragons still have a bit of fuzz between the scales so its always a treat being able to accurately portray that!

They say some mother cats will adopt /anything/...

Smaugust day 18: volcano
I'm so happy with this one

Smaugust week 1! Many dragons, and a lot of blue. I will always follow the rules of "anything can be a dragon".
Might do Jack Saint’s Smaugust prompt list sometimes this August! I’m not great at prompt lists but it’s always fun to try and make designs in a very short period of time. Also if anyone has a better picture for this without the lil thingy on top tell me!

SMAUGUST DAY 3: OPULENCE
This is my first day participating and also I think I went too hard on the design so I couldn’t shade it fully. I love her though! Might call her Pearlificent . She’s based off of chapels, the renaissance, medieval devils, owls, and pearls!

SMAUGUST DAY 4: MEDIEVAL
I already referenced medieval demons for my last design so I tried mixing it up a bit with this one! This little guy here is based off of various yokai, djinni, helmets, and manuscript harpies!

Smaugust | Day 5 : Arthropod |

Day 4: Divided
The things Adventurers accidentally discover can both be awe inspiring and infuriating. Just recently, a group of ragtag trouble makers managed to stumble into a mage's hidden tower and happened to discover one of this mad mage's experiments. A strange attempt at combining a dragon with a Gelatinous Cube. Of course, we didn't get to examine it before the Beserker conducted an... experiment of her own. On the bright side, it did demonstrate one of the traits it inherited from its Ooze heritage, an immunity to damage dealt by blades. Instead the body splits where it's struck into two pieces, still connected to the overall consciousness. I am at least glad the mage of the group had the sense of what a profound discovery this was, and for that, we allowed him to name this specimen. He dubbed this creature the Gelatinous Lindwyrm. The musician seemed disappointed he didn't go with their suggest of Jelly Dragon.
[Prompt List]
[Previous] - Day 3: Jewel
[Next] - Day 5: Shadow
SMAUGUST DAY 6: ARTHROPOD + PRISM
Since I couldn’t finish the day 5 prompt I combined 5 and 6 together! I already draw a lot of arthropods so this was a nice change of pace! What it’s based off is to be added!

Oh btw guys I found a better picture for Jack Saints prompt list!

SMAUGUST DAY 7 (8...): DEITY
A photo-mashed painterly dragon from myth! This one's a little messy but I think it fits! I used pictures of tropical jungles and waterfalls, and the beak is made from a plant leaf!

The ship lurches, tosses. It groans, like the death cry of a great whale, before belly-flopping onto the ocean with and intensity to cause its ribs to crack. Seawater splashes in through the gunports, salty, the taste of a beckoning grave. Unlashed cargo rolls, barrels shattering open on cabin walls, their watered-down rum leaking through the fresh, splintered holes in the hull.
And in the middle of it, you, caught like a stray die in a game of Liar's Dice, tossed around in the dark, just waiting for the time you roll a single lonesome dot.
The ship rolled, caught by the waves again - only for it to be heaved into the air once more. You can bearly hear your fellow sailors above the way the ship yowls and complains. You reach for a hanging hammock, and hold on for dear life. Splinters spray across your back as something causes the far hull to cave in... and then you're briefly weightless, your feet leaving the ground, even a one-tonne bundle of spare sails by your side rising into the air...
This time when you crash into the ground, the deck shatters beneath your feet, and you barely manage to hold on to the hammock as it rips apart. Your feet run helplessly over the void, catching on a shattered rib of hull just before you lose your grip for good-
And something - something big, and cascading with water, and an eerie luminous green - slams through the deck from above, a wave of shattered planks and twisted iron grating carried with it. An unlashed cannon tumbles towards you, and you duck just in time, its barrel pulverising the wood you're holding onto - and then you're in the ocean-
You're in the ocean.
The dark, deep ocean.
And you're struck, suddenly, by its coldness. It's vastness. The unending blue and black in every direction you look, save the disappearing pale turquoise to one side and the yawning void on the other, and the two halves of your ship, your lifeboat, split into two like a child's toy and trailing bubbles and split masts...
It's calm down here. A deathly, incomprehensible calm, in the face of a calamity you've yet to fathom. There was no ship. No call to battle, no report of a storm, and yet...
And yet, a dark shadow slips its way over the depth. You see it, outlined in the flittering rays of a sun so distant it's almost a memory...
You turn, a slow sweeping motion... and stare up...

I heard it's Smaugust and @pencilcat made this list of prompts, which reminded me that I have this fish dragon from a recent commission <3 Character is Keyser owned by Volp!

On stormy days and rain-soaked nights, where songs are sung, a maiden's plights, a little town of woe and fear, a sacrifice of one most dear.
They must appease the one above, they say, and tie the one they love to stake and stay her on the hill: For beast to find, do what he will.
When they returned in morning's light, the maiden was no more in sight. They sighed and sang a song most dire, the stake thrown on the fun'ral pyre
The town was right, the beast was cruel; over the land, he wished to rule. With iron tail and glinting teeth and icy winds he gave them grief.
Mere pleasure was the maiden's fate, his hunger she would never sate. An appetizer, she would be; the land would fade from history.
But she was not to be his vice. Her wisdom great, she rolled the dice, appealed did she with beast so fierce; her words, so pure, his heart did pierce.
She saw in him a fire so deep, and she knew that she could keep it locked away, and tempered dim; she could save the world from him.
Is he still the beast so cruel? Our maiden just a death-scared fool? Our questions, they will never quell, but this is what this tale will tell...
The maiden pure, the land's great bane; the world has ne'er seen both again. While up above, twixt skin and scale- ...My friend, that's for another tale.

Yet anout Smaugust post! Today, @pencilcat's prompts say 'Long', and I couldn't choose any different from this piece from 2022. I really wanted to get the vibe of those classic pieces in new age shops of dragons and maidens, and I'm really pleased with how it came out in the end!
