Story of a villain - Part 1

Hello and goodnight (I'm assuming you're looking for a little reading before bedtime)

DABI STANS, it is my pleasure to release the little something I've been working on for a while.

As I mentioned before: it has male POV, a little explicit smut, drama (obviously) and I also made a conexion to the first fanfic that I posted (family and quirk of the female lead)

This is a long story , but I try to use the light novel format to make it a quick reading so a lot of things will happen this is not just some "smut" fic, this is a whole fanfiction.

This is just the first part and it has over 7000 words.

I'm not sure about the title though because he's not a villain here but we'll get there, I promise.

Also, I would like to give a name to our female lead - she has one - but I'm not sure if readers would like it. Lately, I've read a lot of "you" and "y/n" on all of the fanfics platforms and I'm insecure about naming original characters so I just changed it to "babe" or simply erased it from the sentence.

I think that's pretty much it, feel free to send me messages to correct mistakes, english isn't my first language so there must be a lot of parts that don't make sense.

PART 1

“Do you ever feel… scared of me?” I asked.

“I often feel scare of losing you forever, why?”

“Not that, I mean afraid of me, like if I would ever physically hurt you”

“Wha-why? What did I do? What happened?” she looked at me completely confused, she was making coffee while I was making French toasts for breakfast.

“You’re not getting it”

I shook my head and she came closer.

“No, I do. I’ve never been scared of you, Dabi. Don’t be weird, hon”

“Not even when we first met? I know I’m not exactly good-looking — or good at all. I know what I look like and I notice what other girls say, the way they look at me…”

“You notice other girls?” she looked straight into my soul for a second.

“You know what I mean, missy” I poked her forehead “Don’t ravel my words”

“You’re burning the French toasts”

“Shit, shit, shit” I turned the stove off.

She took a deep breath.

“Are you leaving again?” she asked.

I shook my head.

“Have you been watching doramas?”

“No” I chuckled.

“Good, I hate those things, half the problems are caused by miscommunication, so please, pleeease tell me why would you think I’ve ever felt scared of you?”

“I already told you, you didn’t listen”

“Touya” she only used my real name when she was pissed “I love you, why would you care about other people staring or whispering dumb shit about your looks?”

“I don’t know”

When I was seventeen, I met the strangest girl in Japan. I didn’t know all of the girls but I was sure, she was strange, not simply weird or chaotic, strange; and the reason she was so strange is because she liked me.

I liked her too… Well, I loved her.

The thing is I cannot stay with her, no matter how much I want to or how much she begs for it; but I would rather die than letting her go, therefore I just come and go all the time.

Surprisingly, she waits for me. I only left twice since I met her, for a few months — two, five — and in different occasions I only disappeared because I needed to make my own money and I don’t want her to be involved in anything that I do, so I leave for a couple of days, maybe a week each month.

The first time I left because I got scared, I was getting too attached to her cold hands and warm kisses, I used to sneak in her house and we’d cuddle in her bedroom, she less than a year younger but we liked each other madly and eventually we had sex. I never thought I could feel that much.

“Will you still like me after this?” she asked the first time.

“I think I like you even more,” I mumbled.

Her bright eyes widened, she gave me a breathtaking kiss.

“Can we do it again?” she asked.

She kept my brittle heart warm and we ablaze her bed together. We grew up together and went from sneaking in and out from her parent’s house to going to underground clubs and bars and it was enough, for me it was enough.

She wanted more and she deserved it, I just couldn’t do it.

“You make me feel like a fool waiting for you,” she said one night before falling asleep.

Now that we were older, I’d come to her apartment, spend the night together and we’d have breakfast before she’d go to work, a good work at her father’s company. I used to pace the apartment before leaving.

I meditated a lot about my feelings about us; I knew it wasn’t exactly scare of commitment. We knew the type of relationship we had, that was clear and I was all in it. She was pretty, affectionate, loyal and I… well, I was use to give 200% of myself in everything I do.

“Take your name back, I’ll help you,” she said one afternoon at her favorite coffee shop.

“I can’t”

Because of that, I was scared

She belonged to me; she became my home. No words needed, I thought, I think she knows. I didn’t feel like I could – no, I didn’t want to fit in her perfectly normal life.

I could go anywhere I wanted, but I’d keep running back to her and every time she’d open her door for me; caress me, kiss me and make love like if it was the last time.

“We could run away together” she used to say before falling asleep.

Every now and then, she would say: “Let’s run away, let’s get out of this country, I’ll go anywhere you go” but never insisted a lot; maybe she was afraid that if she was too clingy I’d run away on my own.

Maybe I needed her to cling onto me to stay. Who could know?

I liked watching her sleep, I would wake up in the middle of the night and I could feel time moving, I’d put my hand on her breathing chest just to make sure she was real.

“Do you remember my friend Hana?” she said randomly one morning while making coffee, “she’s a med student and she has a healing quirk, I was thinking she could help to regenerate your skin. Only if you want to, my love”

“Why?”

I didn’t think it was possible but I wouldn’t mind if it was.

“Well — I just thought, it could help you to look and feel better, even if it’s for a short time…” she was murmuring but I could hear, she had something in mind but she wasn’t gonna say.

“Okay” I agreed and she smiled, I hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead.

Every morning she would get her cup of coffee and become a kitten. Then she’d go to work and I’d stay a little longer and turn the housewife mode on. She didn’t know though.

It was fun. In my imagination it was the other way round, I liked picturing a different life while cleaning: I’d go to work at my father’s hero agency and she’d be a lovely housewife, by now we’d have our first kid, hopefully a girl, by God’s grace she’d have my sister’s temper!

She would be calm, nerdy, sweet and beautiful as her mother. Of course, this was all in my imagination.

I hated thinking about my family, but I liked the idea of us starting a family. One completely different to the family that I had, one where no one is use and discarded. However, it’s never going to happen. Not only because I stopped living by my name, but also because both her parents knew about me — and they loathed me.

At first, her mother made a scandal, she screamed and punched a maid in the face out of anger, and then her father talked to me in private, he handled it better than I expected.

“Whatever phase she’s going through I don’t give a fuck, you better never knock her up, I’ll strangle you myself if you dare”

He had balls and I respected that, at least enough — but only because I loved her.

Around seven years later, that phase wasn’t over and they were getting impatient, her mom would come to her apartment and change the door’s password (as if I needed it) on random days. The last time I was still there.

“You, get out. Now” she commanded and just as I crossed the door, she ranted: “Just because we work hard to keep this a secret doesn’t mean we’ll ever accept you, I’ll find a good suitor soon and she’ll marry him, get out of her life already!”

I sighed.

“I work just as hard to keep my manners, ma’am.” I lighted my hand with blue flames. She gasped.

“Are you threatening me?”

I just walked away. I don’t do threats.

About an hour later, I got a bunch of “sorry” messages and a phone call.

“I swear I’m gonna change the whole fucking door if it’s necessary… even better! I’m moving out and will never give her my new address so we can fully live together, you won’t have to leave the house if you don’t want to”

She started a whole speech about living together, I could imagine her walking in circles and moving her free hand all around and it made my day just listening but a life like that… it was impossible.

“You still coming home tonight, right?”

“I got a lot of things to do, babe”

“Wanna go out?”

I laughed.

“It’s Tuesday, you have work tomorrow, just eat your dinner and go to bed”

“Did you cook?” she asked happily.

“Yeah, probably”

“Did you burn it?”

“You’ll find out, send me a pic before you go to bed”

“Of course. I love you”

“Me too”

I’d never say “I love you” on the phone, it was too embarrassing, but she was fine with it.

A week later, she caught me off guard. It was her day off and her friend Hana came over.

“I don’t know how you manage to live here, it took me forever to get to this floor and I used the elevator! Oh, OH! He’s here! Good morning, Dabi!”

I suddenly remembered how talkative Hana is.

“Morning”

I met Hana when they were in high school — they were childhood friends. At first, Hana was cautious when I was around, she used to leave us alone almost immediately, I think Hana might have tried to talk her out of this, but obviously it didn’t work.

I don’t know when we started to get along.

“Good morning, sunshine!” my baby greeted her playfully.

“Good morning! You’re having breakfast, am I early? Really? You woke up late, it can’t be me. Can I have some? I ate before coming but I spend a lot of energy to come, the subway, the cab, the goddamn elevator, I’m starve!”

Hana was like a shot of espresso, and my babe is a caffeine maniac.

“I made extra, sit down please” my baby served two plates, orange juice and coffee just for Hana.

Hana’s quirk required her own energy to heal others if I’m not wrong, I realized why I didn’t have to make breakfast this morning.

“So you’re a med student,” I said casually.

“I’m resident already” Hana took a sip of orange juice.

“A what now?” I was in disbelief “Did you bribe her?”

“Not yet” she smiled.

“Oh, shut up” Hana laughed “I was just lucky my quirk is too useful and we’ve been friends for a long time. I know you both if I’m allowed to say so and also I’m curious about what you’d look like if I can fix at least those patches under your eyes”

They had a lot to catch up while Hana was eating; I kept bringing plates to the table just to make sure they had enough time to talk and create my chance to disappear.

I made my way to the door and Hana caught me.

“Where do you think you’re going, sir?”

“We ran out of orange juice”

“We have enough orange juice, go lay on the couch now,” my love commanded and I obeyed.

For a moment, I thought at least Hana would be quite while using her quirk, but she was like a radio host.

She required physical touch and her eyes analyzed me as if she could see right through my burned flesh.

“The damage is too deep, I don’t know if I can fix your tear ducts, you can close your eyes and don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt” she was narrating every single step while massaging both of my burned patches of skin under my eyes. “I’m removing your dead cells, I know it feels weird.”

I felt a little tickles but not enough to laugh.

“This isn’t exactly regenerating, you can’t bring back to life a cell once that is dead, but I can put your living cells to work and create new ones while removing death skin with this massage. This might take a while, but trust the process”

A few minutes later she washed her hands, my babe bought iced coffee and sweets, and Hana kept working hard on fixing my mess.

“You can go and watch a movie on TV, dear, you don’t have to keep feeding me, we’ll be fine,” Hana said.

“I’m starting to feel bad for giving you work on the little free time you have”

“It’s okay, I’m serious”

“Well… I… if you need anything just ask” she said before going to the bedroom.

“Talking requires energy too, you know,” I mumbled when she massaged my neck.

“It feels weird touching people like this in complete silence; you could talk if you want me to shut up”

“I have nothing to share with you, sorry”

“Well, you’ve been dating my best friend for a long time, we’re adults now and I’d like to know how serious you are about your future”

“Are you her mom?”

“I am concerned,” she admitted.

I opened my eyes, she gave me her more serious gaze and she was the type of girl that stops mid-walking just to say “hi” to all the kittens. She meant it.

“Concerned about what?”

“A lot of things! I don’t know your real name” she started a whole speech but kept working on my skin with a little more pressure as if she was prepared for this, “I know you’ve been an important part of her life since high school, you’re practically a pillar! When I first saw you I thought she was in big troubles, but you’re good to her in your own way; you don’t take anything from her and you keep her centered, you cook for her and…”

“So? Where’s the ‘but’ I’m waiting for?”

She stopped massaging my skin.

“I don’t know, I never dated anyone, but another friend just got engaged and I thought… when will I go to my best friend’s wedding?”

She sighed.

“I can’t do that”, I said.

Her eyes turned to knives figuratively, I was sure a thousand ways to kill me were running inside her mind.

“But my name is Touya”

I was surprised when she smiled.

“Good enough, I’ll take that for now” she took something out of her purse “And by the way, you’re really handsome, Touya. I bet she knew before anyone else”

Hana handed me a mirror, her fingertips had pieces of my burned skin stacked but she didn’t seem to mind at all. I was speechless when I saw my reflection; I couldn’t even see the parts where my skin used to be parted.

I touched the staples and piercings I had to keep it all together.

“I didn’t remove them because I suppose you’ll use your quirk again even though you shouldn’t”

“Thank you”

By now, she completely regenerated my face’ skin and half of my neck. She kept working in silence; she started to look tired but didn’t stop.

It took her over six hours to regenerate my skin from the neck down to my chest, she worked hard and it showed.

“I heard silence and I got worry, how’s it gooo… oh my god, Hana!”

“The devil’s in the details! I’d like to help a little more but I’m exhausted”

“You can take a nap here,” my babe pointed out the room.

“Oh no, I’m sure you’d like some alone time right now. I’ll have more coffee before leaving and can I have some toasts?”

“Everything inside my fridge is yours, you earned it”

Hana almost leaped from the living room to the kitchen, she was tired and starving but managed to keep her cool — and now I admired her, but I wouldn’t admit it out loud. My babe sat next to me and touched my face carefully.

“How does it feel?” she asked me, rubbing the back of her hand on my cheek.

“Soft. Good”, I admitted. “Can you go out and buy something for me?”

“Of course, my love, what do you need?”

After some instructions (and snacks), my babe and Hana were going out the door when she tried to give her something.

“Oh no, it’s okay, I just ate everything in your kitchen”

“This is for your silence”, she said resolute.

“Oh I see”, Hana mumbled and took it.

When she came back home, she helped me to bleach my hair. I was drying my hair with a towel in front of the mirror and barely believed my eyes, my whole face and now my white hair… it was as if nothing ever happened; except for the staples.

“My love, are you okay?” she knocked the door.

I lost the words when I opened the door and saw her big bright eyes and her pupils dilated, it felt so good as if I was reborn.

“Just for now, call me Touya,” I said taking her hand and pulling her closer to me.

“Touya… Can I kiss you now?”

“We’re so doing more than that”

We started kissing, she slipped her tongue into my mouth and I picked her up, tangled her legs around my hips, and touched my cheeks with her cold hands. It always felt nice. I took her to the bedroom; she was breathless when I put her down.

“You shouldn’t have put on any clothes,” she said while taking my jeans down.

“You should’ve take yours off before knocking the door”

I undid her blouse.

“Yeah, no more talking, okay?” she mumbled while turning around and took her pants down. Put her elbows on the bed, her back perfectly arched.

“Straight to the point?” I sighed and pulled her head up by her hair “But I want you to keep looking at my face right now”

“You’re feeling kinky, will you talk dirty?”

I licked her neck as she turned around, I gently caressed her clitoris with one finger.

“I won’t make any promises”

She ran her hands through my hair. Sparkling eyes locked in mine. Her warm breathe hit my neck.

“Fine, but don’t stop” she said.

I kissed my way down on her until I was on my knees, caressing her thighs with my hands and I looked up grinning when I licked her most sensitive spot.

When I heard her heavy breathing, I pushed her gently on the bed, I got up to see her naked body and licked my lips while caressing her vulva with my fingers; she was beautiful, wet and warm. I did my best to resist the urge to go deep inside her.

Missionary was not her favorite position but right now I felt like spoiling her a little more than usual. She tangled her legs on my hips, tempting me, and clawed her fingers on my back - up and down - impatiently while making out.

I took her wrists with one hand and put them up her head on the pillow.

“You’re being mean” she whispered with puppy eyes.

“I thought I was spoiling you,” I said while running my tongue over her nipples.

“Yes, you are, I might get accustomed”

I laughed; she was so strange. She led one of her hands down to my dick.

“Put it in”

I shook my head and she pushed my body and rolled us to be on top.

“Do it now”

“We ran out of condoms last night”

“What?!”

She suddenly turned all shy, her cheeks were blushing and she covered her breasts.

“Why didn’t you tell me when I went to buy your hair bleach?”

“I remembered just now, but you can sit on my face”

A sly grin made the timid woman disappear, she came over and I clawed my fingers on her ass while I run the tip of my tongue through her, different paces at different spots - gently where she was sensitive and rough where she wasn’t - and she wiggled her hips slowly, enjoying it.

All I could see from between her legs was her upper body bounce, heard her whispered sighs and I reached my hand down to touch myself. She was at the edge of coming done and she was gorgeous, I wanted to feel it but I had to settle with my hand.

I focused on her clitoris with the tip of my tongue and caressed her hips with my other hand, her knees were trembling, her hands reached my hair, I closed my eyes.

“Da… bi” she stuttered whispering. Her body lost control, turned weaker. “Touya”

I could see it in my mind. I introduced two fingers inside her; tickling her sensitive spot to help her more and with one last swipe of my tongue on her clitoris, she was done.

By now I had memorize every inch of her face when she had an orgasm and it always made me feel so satisfied and amazed as if it was the first time. Being able to make her feel this way was like a prize, I felt like if I was made for this and only this, the rest of the world stopped moving for that moment.

She pulled away unsteady, she kissed me sucking my tongue inside her mouth —I was sure she could taste herself and she liked it, she liked leaving me breathless; I felt like I could die and I wouldn’t mind it.

“Let me help you” she whispered as she went down on me.

After I finished, we cuddled and she fell asleep but I woke up. Just stared at the ceiling, time moved slowly, I had a bad feeling and wanted to get up and get some fresh air.

“Your heart’s racing” she whispered, “are you anxious?”

“I just need air”

We got up, put on some clothes and she opened the window, I took a deep breath.

“What’s wrong?” she asked me, concerned.

I didn’t know, shook my head in silence and she embraced me gently.

“Wanna go out for a walk? Let’s buy some groceries,” she suggested. I touched my face. “I bought some masks in case you didn’t want to go out like this”

We got ready to go for a walk; she put on a mask too.

“We’re spies now!” she exclaimed playful like a kid.

“You’re so cute” I caressed her hair.

“What? Spy ladies are sexy”

“Dummy”

“Let me be” showed me her middle finger; I took her hand and intertwined our fingers, after leaving the building we wandered around for like thirty minutes. It was getting dark.

Everything was normal, I looked around, nobody was looking at us or at least at her, I usually walk behind her to elude the attention she gets. My babe was like a daydream, I used to walk with my head down and pretend she didn’t draw the attention of other misfits like me - but that was the inescapable truth.

She suddenly pointed a convenience store.

“Let’s buy some juice or strawberry milk”

“Sure”

We walked in and I took the mask off my face. A trio of little girls wearing uniforms giggled and whispered to each other and she noticed too.

“Hey, don’t do that! You’re too gorgeous, it’s not fair”

I took her mask off and cupped her face with my hand.

“You’re the pretty face in this relationship, you know that. Go and get your strawberry milk”

“That’s for you, I want an iced coffee,” she said while walking to the aisle. “Grab some chips or instant ramen”

“Yeah”

I was looking for her favorites when the door opened again and I heard a girl’s voice that caught my attention, her words shook the back of my mind:

“Natsu, can we buy some soju? I miss it”

“If you find it we can, you know that,” he answered.

I froze standing there. It can’t be. There must be a thousand guys named Natsu in the area, it can’t be that Natsu, I thought.

I saw a glimpse of white hair moving towards the aisle I was. “Move”, I thought, “move, you piece of…”.

“Hey, Touya, they have mango flavored…” she appeared in front of me unexpectedly and I pulled her and tucked her in my arms.

I saw him and he looked at me for a moment. Natsu and that girl stood right in front of me for only a few seconds but it felt like an hour, he looked just like dad.

“My love? You okay?”

“Let’s go” I said and dragged her to the counter.

I paid and we left the store behind in a rush. I felt the anger heating inside my chest, we would not go home but I couldn’t leave her like this. Maybe that was the bad feeling I had before. We walked to the nearest park, the cold air felt nice, but I felt like shit.

I told her about Natsu.

“I noticed him too, he does look like… that man… but don’t resent him for not recognizing you – even if he saw the resemblance, he grew up thinking his big brother’s dead, he must feel really confuse right now”

I knew she was right, but it wasn’t fair.

“I know” I whispered. I was so mad about the whole situation. “But it still hurts”

The way that I froze and he stared as if his eyes were knives on my chest. My left eye burnt and I felt my cheek wet. I touched it: a single tear shed.

“Touya” she hugged me and buried my face in her shoulder.

“Hana’s quirk is amazing,” I admitted as I felt more tears falling.

“She’s the best”, she agreed.

The last time I cried I was thirteen and set everything on fire, so I pulled away from her and did my best to calm down — but my eye burnt with each tear until it finally stopped. I supposed I burned my tear ducts again.

We stayed at the park for a couple hours, on the way home she reminded me to buy a box of condoms. Usually, we would take turns in the shower, she liked hot water and I liked it cold (my burnt flesh couldn’t stand hot water), but tonight she was clingy and tried to bathe with me.

“I can do this,” she said “I can do this! Tell me I can do this”

“You can’t”

Her naked body was shaking in front of me; I couldn’t lie to her face. She jumped out of the shower the next second and waited to get a hot shower.

“I’ll be working at home these next days,” she announced.

“That’s convenient”

Hana gave me strict instructions to avoid using my quirk for at least a week: “wear SPF 1,000,000 if possible or simply stay indoor during daytime, you’re my masterpiece right now, take care of your skin please,” she said.

“You didn’t leave,” she murmured, “I thought you’d leave me alone at the park”

“It crossed my mind,” I admitted “but I think I make the same mistake every time. I guess I should start doing things right”

“What does it mean? You’ll stay?”

I noticed the excitement in her voice; bit my lip.

“I might try”

Is it enough? I thought. She was settling for less than what she deserved once more.

“I’d like that” she said.

It was too late and she had to work tomorrow morning, but that did not stop us. I supposed I could never give her peace, but she was okay with that; or at least she was good at pretending it was okay.

Spending the day watching TV while she’s working wasn’t exactly my idea of staying with her, but I felt like a dog when I sat next to her and laid my head on her shoulder so I had to do something.

She was typing fast on her laptop, I examined her concentrated face, and it was a mixture of depression with a little rage.

“So… when will you take a break?” I asked her.

“Around ten, I hope”

Barely took her gaze away from the screen. She was sitting at the kitchen island, if I cook anything it would distract her and I didn’t want that.

“You should go back to bed and sleep well,” she mumbled.

“Maybe I will”

“Yeah, do that, hon, we can go for iced coffee later”

I looked at the coffee pot, it was big enough for twelve cups and it was already empty.

“Not sure about that, but okay”

I checked on my phone: nothing new. Thought about the possibilities of getting a real job, but I would need documentation.

I cannot recall when I fell asleep, but when I woke up again she was there by my side, peacefully resting with her eyes closed.

I guess I was wrong, I thought. A cozy feeling filled the bedroom; it wasn’t unfamiliar, there was nothing new after all this time but definitely felt different for the better. I tucked her closer to my chest and unintentionally woke her up.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, “go back to sleep”

“No, what time is it? I need to work” she mumbled and checked the clock “damn, five minutes, I’ll make coffee”

“I’ll cook something to eat”

She smiled and stroked my face tenderly.

“You should be a chef, hon”

“Right, as if I could get back all these years”

Or if I wanted that, I thought. Even if I could, that’s not what I wanted.

“I would invest all my money to open a place just for you. No one would know who you are, my love”

Her face glimmered; she really believed me when I said I’d stay. How could I ever live if I end up leaving again?

I wouldn’t, I thought, I’d have to die.

“Are you doing this for real?” I pulled her closer, “Are you planning a future with me?”

“I’ve been doing it for years, thank you for noticing” she said and kissed the tip of my nose. “Gotta work, hon, gotta work, gotta work”

She fled out of the room and I followed. When she was finally done with her schedule, we got ready to go out. I took a mask and she threw it off my hand.

“Don’t! I want to show off my boyfriend”

“Why?” I asked.

“Yesterday you took my hand and intertwined our fingers, you rarely do that. You tend to walk behind me as if you were about to mug me, but I think you gained confidence now — and I like it. Even if you burn your face again, stay by my side for the rest of my life, okay?”

“I might go back to black hair”

“I like that too. I like every single thing about you, are we clear?”

“Like water”

“Good, now let’s get drunk as fuck!”

She pulled my arm as we were leaving the apartment. In a million lives, I would never thank her enough for everything.

We went to a bar really far from where she lived, it was new to me, underground, and I saw a “no uninvited man allowed” sign as we crossed the door. I walked behind her, she went straight to the bartender and ordered a bottle of something and the bartender served many different colored shots.

“You’re kidding, you gotta work tomorrow!” I yelled so she could hear me above the music.

“You told me you’d stay! We gotta celebrate!” she shouted back and drank directly from the bottle.

“What’s that?!” I wanted to know, but I didn’t understand her, the music was too loud.

“Try this! It’s sweet!” she gave me a shot of whatever-neon-purple-beverage thing and she was right, it didn’t taste like alcohol at all “I love those, hon”

“I bet you do!”

She drank a couple of shots and I grabbed the bottle, it smelled like cheap booze, took a sip of it.

“It tastes like cheap booze,” I muttered.

“It IS booze!” she yelled and laugh, she looked dizzy already, “those are the good ones here!” she pointed at the counter and the fifteen different-colored shots she ordered were gone.

I saw her drunk a thousand times, something was wrong here. The bartender served her another shitty drink and I immediately took it away.

“What’s this?!” I yelled and smelled it, it smelled like a margarita but it didn’t look like it.

“That’s to dilute the shots! I’ve been here before, my love!”

She was acting like a teenager drinking for the first time, I didn’t like this, but the booze was fine and I’d take her home safely so I let it slide. She drag me to the dancefloor, she had a way to make everything around disappear when we were out, and so when she dances I just follow her lead.

This reminded me of one time she ordered tequila for the first time and some asshole tried to pull her away from me. She was still innocent back then, always trying on new things to avoid boredom.

She clung onto me and kissed me passionately. Her arms wrapped round my neck, her body fitting perfectly tighten to mine. Too affectionate to be in public, so I thought that was my sign.

“But we just got here!” she complained, but I wasn’t going to let her ruin her reputation publicly, not even for a minute.

It was cold outside; I gave her my jacket. We walked a little trying to get a cab.

“Touya, I’m fine,” she mumbled, “seriously, let’s go back, we barely spend thirty minutes…”

“You drank like a sailor in the first sixty seconds, how could you even measure time?”

When we finally found a taxi, I felt a little dizzy. The road turned to flashing lights; she squeezed my hand three times in the back of the taxi. The driver said something I barely remember.

I don’t know how or when we got home.

Suddenly we were making out in her bedroom, taking our clothes off. In a blink of an eye, she was riding me desperately, still half-naked, moaning out of pleasure and my shaky hands were touching her nipples.

I felt like the whole bedroom was moving.

I clawed my fingers on her hips, laid her down and lifted her legs; put her ankles on my shoulders and changed the pace, deeper and faster. She pulled my head down to kiss and bite my lips.

It felt like a dream. I don’t know when we finished or if we did it. Morning light came through the window, I opened my eyes and she wasn’t there. I picked up the clothes on the floor and made the bed — I didn’t find the condom.

She was on her laptop, wearing my shirt, a messy bun and big dark eye circles.

“Did you sleep?” I asked.

“Like three minutes,” she answered with husky voice.

She looked focused but I had to know.

“Hey, did you, by any chance, picked up the condom?”

“The what?” she looked at me, “I’m sloppy right now, sorry, what did you say?”

“The condom, I didn’t see it”

Silence. Her eyes widened, she covered her mouth.

“Me neither” she murmured but I heard.

I felt shock; she froze.

“We — We’ve been reckless before” I tried to be calm but I stuttered, “I probably pulled out before…”

“You don’t remember?!” she reproached me.

“Oh, you’re one to talk! What was in those purple shits?”

“You mean shots”

“I meant what I said”

She rubbed her face with both hands.

“My love, I really don’t have time for this, let me clear this other mess first and then we’ll handle the other mess”, she said while typing again.

“Did you take a bath or…?”

“Do I look fresh to you?!” she freaked out, typed faster and loud. I saw the coffee machine was clean so I assumed she hadn’t have her morning coffee yet.

I walked cautiously in the kitchen, made a full meal and placed the plates and coffee as near to her as I thought it was reasonable; then I took a shower.

When I saw her again she looked better, still a mess but calm.

“How’s it going?” I asked from a safe distance.

“I got this” her tone was back to normal. I waited in the living room.

When she finally closed her laptop, she looked at me and gasped for air, ran her hand through her hair. I felt genuinely scared, but I didn’t show it.

“I have to sleep,” she said and teleported, she was that tired; she rarely used her quirk. I saw her in her bedroom: she was lying on her stomach, her face buried on the pillow. I laid by her side and tried to touch her hair but she caught my hand.

“Are you mad at me?” I asked.

“I’m mad at me” she mumbled on the pillow, she rolled to her side and looked at me, “I’ve been there before; drink, dance, the usual, and then I would come home by myself; I know it’s an illegal bar but I thought it was a safe place for woman”

“Some places change when they gain a little popularity”

“And that single shot took you down too? What the fuck did they put in it? I liked them because they’re sweet”

“Maybe they had something”

She came closer and cuddled.

“Thank God you were there”

I wanted to bring back the condom topic — it itched my brain — but knowing that she has been there on her own before and this happened suddenly didn’t sit well. Maybe the other male clients were all accompanying their girlfriends but the bartender wasn’t — and he was a man, after all.

“Never go back there, ‘kay?” I said.

“Yep”

“From now on, we can celebrate like normal people,” I suggested. “We could buy cake and balloons if you want to celebrate that much”

“Really?” her eyes sparkled.

“Sure, it’ll be fun”

I wasn’t sure at all, but I tried at least for that one week to stop running with the wolves. I tried to settle down, but everynight at 2 A. M. I found myself staring at the ceiling.

I wondered how she does this everyday. On day five, I was losing my grip, I don’t know how I managed to keep my shit together; on day six, I dyed my hair black.

Seventh day arrived; she looked at me and asked:

“Will you go out today?”

“I have to make some money”

“How?” she wanted to know, but I wouldn’t tell. I never told her before, I wouldn’t tell her now. “Will you come back?”

I wanted to say “yes” but I didn’t wanna lie. Realization crossed her gaze.

“Old habits die hard,” she mumbled disappointed and picked up the plates. “Way to go, tiger”

“I’m coming back,” I said but she didn’t look at me.

“This happens all the time,” she continued and it cut deep; she was upset as if I was already gone.

“That’s not fair,” I said.

“You don’t get to tell me what’s fair, Toya!” she reproached me: “Do you wanna know what’s unfair? The fact that… you – out of all people – discard me all the time”

That really pissed me off.

“Shut up”

“I knew it was too good to be true”

“You want me to stay here? I gotta work too, I have to make my own money! I’m not gonna live out of your income as if I was your bitch, this is already your place filled with your stuff…”

“You can bring stuff too”

“That is not what I mean, damn, you’re being so stupid!”

I wasn’t thinking when I said it, but I regretted immediately; her eyes widened and she came to me as if she was gonna kick my balls, I grabbed both her arms and hugged her.

“No, I didn’t mean it”

She bit my shoulder so hard I wept a little.

“Touya, if you don’t come back…”

“I’m obsessed with you,” I interrupted her “I’ll see you later”

We parted ways outside the building, she went to work and I –after sending some messages- went to make my own money too. On my way, I saw some kids on their way to school, it freaked me out because I forgot about the lost condom and she probably forgot too.

“Did you get your period?” sent.

She was writing… and writing… and writing…

“No, Touya, I’m not on those days of the month” Read.

By now, I wasn’t sure if she was using my real name because she was pissed or because I requested it a week ago. I felt sick and fucked up. I thought about us pushing a stroller and threw up on the street.

People avoided me in a circle; some hero clown came to me and asked:

“Are you okay, boy?”

“Get off my face!”

He tried to put his hand on me but I managed to get away; I put on a mask and mixed with the crowd.

When I arrived to the headquarters, the morons I worked with were being too cautious as I expected; I covered my face but my neck was uncovered.

“Who the fuck are you?” my boss asked.

“Dabi”

“Take that stupid mask off, are you sick?” he asked and I took the mask off, “What the fuck happened to you?”

“I cashed in a favor” I lied.

“That’s not your real face, don’t lie, you look like a pretty kid” he smirked and laughed.

“Where’s the idiot you need me to handle? I gotta go”

“Sure, after that little vacation you just had, see if I care”

After a good amount of bravado, I went with other two morons to handle a few poor souls that didn’t pay in time. I told the others that when I got my payment, I would quit, so they’d have to find their own way to handle their clients.

“What do you mean you quit? No one quits here” said moron one.

“Funny, I just did” I smirked.

“You think the boss doesn’t know where you go when you disappear? We all know” said moron two.

“So what?”

“So what?!” both of them were surprised. I hated them.

“He’ll send somebody after your little girlfriend. Think!” said moron one.

I thought about it a million times before.

“No one can touch her” I said.

If we move out.

“What do you mean?” asked moron two.

If I warn her.

“None of you would be able to catch her, plus the boss won’t send anybody after her, she’s not the reason I quit”

If I protect her. She’ll be alright.

“Sure, you just got that surgery on your face and now you quit. You probably think you can straighten your life, but…” moron one started a whole monologue I wasn’t even gonna pretend I was hearing.

Her dad’s a big fish too, I thought, she’s well covered even if I’m not with her.

“Dabi, is she pregnant?” moron two asked me and caught me off guard. He burst a laugh “Holy shit, she is pregnant”

“You’re soooo fucked up” moron one joined him.

“In that case, I think you may quit. Our boss is a family man after all”

He wasn’t a family man, he had a family with his first ex-wife but their kids were all grown and he was married to a fourth wife now. They mocked me all the way back to our boss’ office.

“Let me be there when you tell him you’re quitting, I wanna see you get fuck” they laughed then, but kept quiet when I told our boss this was the last time I’d do this for a living.

The big old man looked at me, made a face and gasped for air.

“Come with me, man,” he commanded with a serious tone in his voice, he usually calls me kid; I followed him in silence. “I think I know what’s going on here and let me tell you something you need to know”

He thinks my girlfriend’s pregnant too, I thought. He wasn’t gonna get my guard off too. He brought a bottle of whiskey and two glasses.

“Marriage isn’t that great” he said and poured the whiskey. My mind went completely blank. “Woman these days! They are… insufferable! Especially if they have quirks, it makes them think they don’t need you but they want you to give them everything you have”

I had no words and he had a whole speech prepared apparently, so I just listened and drank the whiskey.

“I know I’m not your father but my eldest is almost your age,” he said in a sentimental tone, “sometimes I just see him in you”

“We’re good,” I mumbled and he poured some more whiskey.

“So tell me, when’s the date?”

I drank the whiskey as if it was water.

“I’m not getting married,” I answered.

He looked at me perplexed for a second.

“Get the fuck out of here”

I stood up and walked to the door.

“Hey Dabi, if you ever need quick-cash, just send me a message”

I just nodded.

It was dark outside; I wondered if she was still at her workplace.

“Want a coffee?” Sent.

“I’m good” Read.

She sent a picture, she was at her favorite coffee shop, near her building. I hurried to meet her there, but couldn’t find her so I called her.

“Where are you?” I asked.

“At the park”

I hurried again to find her. She was sitting alone with a bottle in her hand, she was drinking soju now — it was strawberry flavored — I took it when I sat next to her.

“You came,” she mumbled a little sad.

“I told you I would and you should be careful of whatever you eat or drink until you get your period, missy”

“Hey, my grandma sent me that”

“I don’t give a fuck”

She didn’t fight back, laid her head on my shoulder.

“Were you drinking?” she asked.

“A little”

“Darling” she whispered, “We need to leave the apartment”

I tried to look at her but she kept her head down.

“We’ll find a place”

“No, I mean right now, my mother got us evicted”

“Oh”

So that’s why she was drinking, I thought. I wondered where all of her stuff was.

Story of a villain - Part 2

Hi, Dabi stans, here is the translation of the second part of my fanfiction (it isn't posted anywhere else, btw)

In case you haven't read or want to read the Part 1 of Story of a villan.

As I mentioned before, it is written from a male POV (Dabi's POV), it has a explicit smut parts, includes a little self-loathing, original characters (but the female lead doesn't have a name so you can pretend it's you)

I decided to use the word "part" instead of "chapter" because I actually merged a lot of small chapters I've written before, I'm trying to make it fit in 3 parts so this is the middle of the whole thing and I'm going to say that is so satisfying to write a love story this way, I've never done this before and I highly recomend it now.

The first part has +7000 words and this part has +8000 words, there are no big descriptions of places or time because I tried to write it as a light novel, feel free to send me messages to correct my gramar or if you have any comment about the times not making sense or anything else.

Anyway, I hope you like it.

PART 2

Slowly, we became more than what we were already: a chosen family. Together we found an apartment – smaller than her former place, but nicely located – and for almost a month, I managed to kill most of my old habits, but it costed me, the old me was screaming in the back of my mind next to my thirteen-year-old corpse.

Some nights, we talked about the future before sleeping and I noticed the way she smoothed the ground, patiently helping me to feel safe and at home; she had no idea my home is wherever she is.

Then, I got a job under a fake name. I went from drug dealing in dark alleys to torturing people and now I was a security guard at a downtown club known as Beanie and One Day.

“You’re sketchy as fuck” said the manager, a mid-forty man named Tanaka Haru, “can you throw jerks out the door?”

“I’m not that strong”, I admitted.

He doubted, but I got the job. I got the name, the place, the girl; but it wasn’t good enough, I wasn’t satisfied at all; and only to make things worse, her mother came to our place one morning after my babe went to work, she looked around and tried to bribe me to leave her daughter alone.

“I love your daughter,” I told her clearly.

“You’re ruining her life!” she accused me. “I talked to her father and if you don’t get out of her life for good, he’ll remove her from the company”

I grinned and she looked at me as if I was crazy.

“You wouldn’t. You care too much about what other people thinks”

“Oh, believe me, we would and we will take her out of the country after that, so don’t get too comfortable in this dumpster you brought her to live with you. Take the money, you clearly need it if this is the best you can get” she disappeared — she had a teleportation quirk too.

I looked out the window, a black car that was park outside started up and fled immediately; that was probably hers. I wanted to burn the card and money she left, but I let it there, kept the card in my pocket.

When my babe came home, I noticed she was upset too.

“Wanna eat outside?” she asked me.

As we walked, she started to point out all of the benefits of the new place, it made me sad how hard she was trying to convince herself she was okay without all of her privileges.

I couldn’t keep it in anymore:

“Your mom visited” She stopped walking, so I stood there too, “Did you talked to your father today?”

“What did she say?”

Something horrible was going on inside her head, it was obvious, I showed her the card.

“She offered money to separate us”, I burned it “She said you were supposed to go to your parent’s house that night, but I guess you knew that already.”

“I finally got you” she said, “I got you, I can’t be the one who leaves. I started over, I’m adapting”

“No, you’re not”

“Yes, I am!” she looked at me, her gaze was reddish, irritated, I sighed.

“Did you cry today, baby?”

“Don’t treat me like a kid!” she ran her hands through her hair in exasperation.

“I’m not doing that, I see it in your eyes.”

She swore she was fine, but it wasn’t true. After eating, we took the long way home, as we walked in the building her mother’s words resonated in my mind: “you’re ruining her life”.

My babe smiled at me when we entered, put her arms around my neck and kissed me deeply, I closed the door behind us… and clothes started falling on the floor.

If she could smile like that and still embrace me as tenderly as she just did, how could I still believe that her mother was right? I totally screwed her and she was happy with it.

“You still haven’t got your period, you should get tested,” I suggested her when we were done.

“Are you worried?” she put on my shirt.

“I don’t wanna be like our parents”

“Me neither, but it’s too soon to know”

It was killing me and I wondered how she managed to keep it cool and if she even wanted to have kids. I never asked, we never talked about it, I assumed it was off the table.

My heart ached just thinking about it.

Doing a regular job was way boring than I thought it would be, but it helped get my mind distracted; at the end of the shift, the bartender –a mid-thirty man named Haruma— would serve some drinks and the manager  pointed out all the things that should be improved.

“You’re new” I heard a soft voice behind me, a girl’s voice, one of the girls that dance around the place to keep a fun mood sat next to me.

“Hey, Momo, I didn’t see you tonight” Haruma smiled at her, brought another glass for her.

“I kept sober tonight, there are less jerks lately,” she said looking at me.

“Thanks to the new guy!” the manager put his thumbs up for me.

“I suspected it”, she smiled “I’ve been watching you, you got a big reputation”

“He does?” Haruma asked. I tensed.

“Yeah, girl’s notice his cute face and whisper about his scars, how did you get them?”

She pissed me, but the bartender was paying attention.

“Did it myself”

“How?” she wanted to know.

“That’s none of your business”

“I heard you got a fire quirk, Miura” Haruma was too amicable for his own good.

“Really?” Momo giggled. I just nodded and she put her hand on my arm. “I got a water quirk”

I pulled my arm away and jump up the chair immediately; she literally watered me and soaked my jacket sleeve.

“The fuck’s wrong with you?!”

She laughed and grinned.

“I guess we’re not compatible”

I could see that she was insane and I shouldn’t even look at her but she annoyed me.

“Momo, are you okay?!” the manager yelled from the other side of the club.

“That was uncalled for, Momo” the bartender reprimanded her, “Don’t take it bad, Miura, she’s not good socializing, that’s all”

“Put a sign on her next time!” I exclaimed.

“Oh, I can’t wait for the next time” she giggled.

“Don’t be rude” Haruma reproached her again.

I just left. It was still dark; when I got home, my babe was sleeping. We spent little to no time together since I got this job; I took a shower before getting into bed with her and she opened her beautiful sparkly eyes as I laid next to her.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered “Didn’t mean to wake you up”

“How was your night?”

“It was fine”

“Good” she mumbled and closed her eyes again. I tucked her hair behind her ear and she sighed, “You smell nice”

I cuddled her and fell asleep in a minute.

The smell of something very delicious woke me up, I went to the kitchen and saw Hana.

“I’m sorry, were we being too loud?” my babe asked. I shook my head, still sleepy.

“It was the bacon, right? Come, sit” Hana was cooking. “I like your new apartment, it’s close to where I live so I thought I could come and eat breakfast together, I didn’t mean to disturb. It’s nice to see you’ve taken care of your skin” she walked to me and analyzed my face, “but I see a couple of dots near under your eyes, they don’t look like moles”

“It’s nothing,” I said and she left it.

I ate in silence and went back to bed, but I could still hear them talk:

“Did you tell him?” Hana asked.

“No, he won’t take it well”

“You should tell him, though”

I swallowed the bad feeling and slept, but I didn’t rest well.

“What could it be?” I thought before falling asleep, “Did she get tested?”

It clicked my mind: she was pregnant, it was obvious and expected —not “we wanted this” type of expected, but “it had to happen” type. I cooked dinner and waited for her.

Time passed slowly, I called her and she didn’t answer; it’s something that never happens.

“Where are you?” Sent.

A few minutes later, she was writing.

“With Hana” Read.

“At the hospital?” Sent.

“At her place” Read.

I had a bad feeling.

“You OK?” Sent.

“Of course, my love. See you later” Read.

I wasn’t gonna let it slide. I had Hana’s phone number; I just never sent her a text or called her before. No, I did when they were in high school— I thought and called her:

“Hi, hi” she answered.

“Hi, are you having dinner or something?” I asked.

“Who’s this?” she asked, “Oh, Dabi, hi, why do you ask me that?”

I swallowed my saliva as I realized.

“You’re not together”

“I feel like I missed something, I’m sorry, I’m at ER right now and you called me out of the blue…”

“What were you talking about this morning?” I wanted to know.

“This morning? You were there”

“When I left you two alone, that one thing I won’t take well”

There was a brief silence.

“I’m gonna tell you, but act like you don’t know, okay?”

“Why?”

“It’s not that bad. You know the way her parents are and she had to do this, believe me, she didn’t have a choice, well she did but the other choice was something totally irrational and…”

“Spill it, Hana”

“They set her a date with some wealthy prick, she already knows him from college and he’s an idiot, she had to go, trust me, trust her, she’ll just go to dinner with him tonight and it’s done, please don’t freak out”

“Where?”

“I don’t know” she mumbled, “I swear. She mentioned it but I’ve never been there, it’s new and stylish, the kind of place her mom adores; I just know it opened this week”

That was the only clue I needed.

“Do you know when they’re supposed to meet?”

“Please just let it slide, they must be there already, she’ll be home real soon”

“Thanks” I hung up. I had to see the wealthy prick.

If they met in college I had someone in mind, I hated thinking about it. Searched online for newly opened restaurants and went straight to the one that looked more stupidly pompous.

It had big fucking crystal doors but no windows, I had to go in; the host welcomed me with a fake smile:

“I’m sorry. We have a dress code, sir”

I ignored her and walked in, looking around, she followed me, heard some gasps and I saw them. I fucking saw the same asshole that used to stalk her back in college and felt the anger heating inside my chest.

A waiter addressed me: “I’m sorry, gentleman, but you have to respect…”

“Who’s manning that table?” I pointed them.

“I’m sorry again; I can’t give you that info…”

I walked to them, she hadn’t see me but I stopped when she stood up and spilled her wine on his face. He got up too, a waiter jumped in offering a napkin and I hurried to the table.

“You’re still the same immature little girl, I see” the prick said walking towards her, I reached him just in time, put my hand on his shoulder.

“Long time no see, fucking loser”

She widened her eyes surprised; she really didn’t noticed I was there until now.

“Who the fuck are you?” he looked at me confused; I grinned and let a little blue blaze out my hand on his shoulder.

“You forgot about me? That’s sad, I remember you perfectly, fucking asshole”

He squealed like a little bitch, I perfectly saw in his eyes when he remembered; she jumped in and pushed me back.

“Dabi, let’s go” she said while pushing me “Let’s go, let’s go”

I let go of his shoulder and stepped back, grinning like a devil, mad as fuck:

“Damn, you’re lucky we’re at a fancy place!”

“Please, let’s go!” she took my hand and pulled me, we rushed out of the restaurant, when we were outside I confronted her:

“Why did you do this?”

“Why did you do that?!” she reproached me.

“No, there’s no possible way you can turn this on me, what the fuck happened?”

She looked at me as if she was completely out of her mind before turning her back on me, and walked away.

“Where the fuck are you going?” I followed her.

“Home! I need to change!”

“You need to explain!”

“No! How did you find out?” she bawled, “Why are you here? Why…?”

I reached her hand and stopped her, people walked around but I had to see her face; she was turning red but she wasn’t crying.

“What would you have done if I hadn’t been there?” I asked calmly.

“I would’ve teleported out of there,” she said, but I know she wouldn’t have done that. “I would’ve go home, like I’m trying to do now” she hugged herself.

She was gorgeous; wearing a red dress and her hair up, she looked like a movie star or a model. I really wanted to fight for this, but I also wanted to take her home and make love to her fully dressed like that.

“You asked Hana, didn’t you?” she looked at me, still upset, and I nodded.

“Let’s go home,” I said, put my arm around her waist and walked with her.

“Yeah, I really wanna change” she mumbled.

“No, keep it” I said with a smirk and I saw her smiling too.

“Wanna take shortcuts?” she asked and pulled me to the first dark alley we saw.

Teleporting with her was like jumping, except you don’t feel the fall; she wrapped her arms around me. When I first met her she could teleport in a radio of fifty meters —she was awesome–, by now she can do over a kilometer, maybe two.

We’ve done this before and I trusted her, but it still made my legs wiggle, she kissed me with each jump, avoiding street lights, avoiding CCTVs, when we were near the building, she stopped and I felt my legs wiggling like jelly.

She mocked me but I didn’t mind; we ran to the apartment like kids running home after school, this was the kind of things that made me fall for her despite… everything. When I’m with her, the rest of the world vanishes.

We made out in the elevator and barely managed to open the door in-between all the kissing, laughing and touching. We were role-playing and she was being incredibly clumsy.

“Oh no, mister robber, please don’t hurt me with your giant… tool.”

We laughed. She was doing it on purpose, no matter how serious I tried to be, she was faking a voice, she had to be a dummy.

“I’m sorry to disappoint you but the only valuable thing in this place is me”

I gazed her body up and down. What a woman, I thought and I took my jacket off.

“So what would you do if I went to touch you now?” I aimed to touch her waist and she stepped back grinning, very professional. I bit my lip.

“Oh no, please, my husband will be back soon!” she exclaimed.

“Then I gotta hurry” I touched her arm and she teleported us to the bed, I wasn’t expecting it but kept it cool and took my shirt off, I felt her hands going up touching my abdomen, “Stay in character, honey”

“Shit, nooo, mister robber, what are you doing to me?” she said as I took her underwear down her legs.

“Enough is enough!” I couldn’t keep it together anymore, kissed her deeply, suck her tongue into my mouth while putting two fingers inside her, and massaged her clitoris with my thumb. The red dress was almost as soft as her skin.

She moaned and undid the button of my jeans. I wanted to scold her for being so bad at role-playing but it could wait ‘till morning. We had a rope in the nightstand for this kind of situations; I tied her wrists together and let my jeans fall down.

She looked at me with thirsty eyes as I put on a condom and let a sigh out when I dived deep inside her; I kept a hand down on her hips and covered her mouth with the other while licking and sucking her precious neck all the way from her collarbone to her ear.

Soon, I forgot about the role-play too, kissing her deeply while she clawed her fingers on my hips and pulled me in desperately as I pulled out; she already wanted to come. I pulled out and turned her on her stomach, she lift her ass and I dived into her again while playing with her clitoris.

She buried her face on the pillow and I left my weight fall a little on her, put my ear on her scapula and felt her taking long deep breaths. I felt her loose strength as she was coming done. I pulled out, still hard as fuck, to allow her to turn around.

“I think we ripped the dress” she sighed.

“Shit, I loved this dress”

“I could tell how much you loved it” she said when I untied her wrists and checked the hour. “If you’re getting late, let’s make it worth”

She gave me that smile she has when she’s expecting another round.

That night my pay was deducted a thirty percent, but I was so satisfied that it could’ve been completely deducted and I wouldn’t mind.

The next few days felt like a honeymoon, not only because the sex, everything was suddenly working out. I spent so many years thinking I would never fit into a normal lifestyle, obsessed about heroes and becoming the best of them... Or maybe I’m very printable, I thought.

I was obsessed with the hero’s path because my father was a hero himself. He is still a hero. Now I was living with someone that always lived a regular life and I could live like that only because of her.

“Did you ever think about becoming a hero?” I asked her. She looked at me, confused.

“We’ve had this talk before”

I remembered the first time that I saw her, she was training her quirk behind her parent’s back. She was too mad at them because her life was made since the day she was born, she didn’t have siblings like me because her mother hated being pregnant, therefore she had no voice in their house. Training her quirk at a crack house was her only rebellious phase.

That and dating me.

“How could you fall for me?” I asked.

She laughed.

“Remember that day I jumped off the roof and you screamed you loved me? You already knew I can teleport anywhere, anytime, but you were so desperate thinking I was trying to kill myself. We were messed up kids who taught ourselves how to live, how could we ever just be friends?”

That was an embarrassing memory, I really believed she was done with her life and her parent’s expectations and I ran upstairs to that roof. She jumped before my eyes and my hands couldn’t reach her, of course I was desperate and I screamed.

“You were so cute” she sipped her cup of coffee with an annoying grin.

“If you’re pregnant I’m telling that story someday”

She stared at me, blushing until her face turned all red.

“You manipulated me” I said and she laughed.

“Maybe I did” she admitted. “I liked you but I never thought you loved me”

On my day off, I went to the mall attempting to buy a coffeemaker like the one my babe had before, but of course, I couldn’t afford the exact same machine so I had to buy the next best option.

I was waiting in line to pay, when I notice the woman in front of me had white hair with red stripes. It’s not possible, I thought, chill – but I couldn’t resist myself and tried to look at her face. She noticed and looked back.

“I’m sorry” she said immediately when she made eye contact - took me by surprise, “are you in a hurry? My cart’s full, you can pass before me” she offered politely.

“I’m good” I said. That was definitely my sister.

“Okay” she said and she looked at me timidly, it made me wonder…

“What’s the matter?”

If maybe, she did recognize me.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to stare at you like that” she stuttered. “It’s just…” she looked at my black hair “that you look like someone that I miss”

She’s lying, I thought and swallowed my saliva nervously, stay calm, stay calm.

“What?” I asked.

Don’t fuck things up, do it for her.

“Someone that I knew, I meant someone that I knew,” she lied, “I’m sorry, I felt nostalgic for a moment, you can go before me, seriously,” she offered again.

“Fine” I said as I walked by her side, “thanks”

“You’re welcome” she smiled.

Not only my hair or my piercings, my voice is different, I thought, but she knows. I looked over my shoulder and she smiled.

Or maybe I’m losing my grip again. Forget it, forget them.

Back home, I questioned myself if I should place the coffeemaker as if it has always been here or if I should’ve wrapped it with a bow and all.

I called Hana and she laughed at me.

“I’m sorry, that’s so cute. I think you should place it there and count the minutes, we can make a bet about how long it will take her to notice”

“She’s a caffeine maniac, she’ll notice immediately”

“Na-uh, it’ll take her like ten minutes at least, pregnancy makes woman very absent-minded. I can see her using the French press and then…”

“What?”

“What?” she shut the fuck up.

“That thing you said about pregnancy”

There was a brief silence and she said nervously:

“Oh no! A car crashed somewhere and I need to go, bye”

I stayed standing like an idiot for a couple of minutes, staring at the coffeemaker. It wasn’t like I didn’t suspected it or I didn’t know, but the fact that Hana knew her period was late and seemed to have confirmed she was pregnant didn’t sit well.

I felt betrayed.

Searched online everything about pregnancy symptoms, I also felt curious about what to do with a newborn, I read everything I found and it was so much to handle, I felt the urge to throw up.

“I can’t do this” I said to myself while scrolling down my phone’s screen. I remembered my father. “I won’t be like him”

Rage filled in. I tried to picture it: the baby, a real baby.

What if they have my quirk?

What if they have my weakness?

I felt the urge to leave.

If they don’t have a quirk, it’d be fine.

If they have my babe’s quirk, it’d be fine.

My mind was tricking me, asphyxiating me.

I put my phone on the table and left the apartment, walked around the building, then wandered further and faster; almost running.

I saw a couple of those stupid heroes on the other side of street.

What if they want to be a hero?

I couldn’t take it anymore. I stopped walking.

“My love?” I heard her voice, but couldn’t see her. “Dabi. What are you doing here?”

I looked around, everything was numb and she appeared before me. Perfectly normal, glowing eyes looking in mine, she took my hand and intertwined our fingers.

“What’s wrong?” she asked. “Tell me”

She was like gravity, bringing me back down to the cold hard ground.

I can’t fuck this up, I thought. I pulled her closer to me and whispered in her ear:

“I missed you”

“I’ve got something to tell you” she whispered back.

“I’ve got a gift for you”

She smiled.

On the way home, I told her about my little trip to the mall, she listened careful; she could be strange and mad, but she always understood when it comes to me – to my family’s mess. Even though we were raised in completely different types of asylums.

“Welcome home, cheater” I said when we were walking inside the apartment, she looked at me as if I was crazy.

“What?” she asked.

“Hana told me” I crossed my arms trying to look dead serious “Is she the father?”

She realized and burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny?” I asked her, she was holding her stomach and covering her mouth but couldn’t hold it in.

“I’m so-I’m sorry” she laughed and laughed, completely out of control, “I was gonna get so angry if you were accusing me for real of cheating. You can be so dramatic sometimes, I love you”

“When where you gonna tell me?” I wanted to know.

“Well, you know, I was gonna walk in with a baby one day and…” I stared at her, I was done with the jokes and she saw it in my face “My love, I just found out, I swear”

“When?”

“Hana took the blood sample and she sent me a message with the results this morning, I promise you I was gonna tell you at dinner”

I gasped for air and pointed at the box in the kitchen.

“Oh my God, Dabi!” she covered her mouth and jumped in excitement like a kid, “thank you, thank you, thank you!” she hugged me before unpacking it.

She looked so happy. Then, I remember what I read about caffeine during pregnancy and tried to take it away.

“I’m returning it” I said.

“What?!”

“Caffeine isn’t good for the baby” I lifted the coffee machine when she tried to take it back from my hands, “You’re gonna settle with a cup per day from now on”

“HELL NO!”

She turned into a demon in order to take over the coffeemaker again. What did I just get into?, I thought as I found myself losing a battle to her for the first time in forever. I sat out the door in the hallway during thirty minutes until she forgave me for trying to do things right.

A week passed but I felt frozen in time, she made an appointment for an echography and I knew I had to go, I said I would, but I missed it. She didn’t say anything, she didn’t showed me anything, as if it didn’t happen.

I could feel when I’d come back from work, every time I laid in bed next to her she’d wake up and stare at me. I felt the silent pressure of her gaze and for a fortnight, there we were acting indifferent to each other. No sex, no fights, no talking.

One night after work, I was with the bartender, killing time, when our boss joined us:

“So… ho-how are you?” he asked me directly.

“Fine”

“I’ve been thinking the same thing” Haruma said, “but he doesn’t open up no matter how much whiskey I put…”

“Whiskey?” Tanaka gave him a look, discontent, tired and sighed making a sign to pour a glass for him before turning back to me “Anyway, you’ve done a decent job but lately, you’re scaring the clients – real clients, not just your target clients, it’s not good for the business”

Maybe they can relate, I thought, maybe I should let a wall down.

Our boss was expecting me to say something and Haruma was really bad at pretending he wasn’t into the conversation.

“Do you… have children?” I asked in a very low tone.

“Fuck no” the manager puffed.

“No, no, no, no” Haruma shook his head frenetically, then he asked with a childish smile “Is your girlfriend pregnant?”

I didn’t answer.

“Kids are cool, I dated a single mom once,” he continued.

“Hey, don’t say weird things” Tanaka scolded him.

“But it’s true! She was older…” Haruma started a narrative but he was too into himself that he didn’t notice no one was paying attention.

“Now I understand” my boss seemed concerned, “How do you feel about it? Shock? Sad? Wanna go and buy cigarettes?”

I looked down, he was seeing right through me.

“I should give her a call” Haruma finished his story with a longing sigh. “Hey is it true woman turn lustful when they’re pregnant?”

I gave him a cold stare and he made a face, realizing he fucked up.

“I’ve seen you picking up girls almost every night, how come you haven’t gotten anyone pregnant?” I asked him and the manager scolded him again, attempting to hit him from across the table.

“I’ve told you to stop a fucking thousand times, that’s why they never come back! You fucking piece of shit!”

“Dabi, how could you?” Haruma avoided every hit like he was used to this.

“And ain’t you married?” I addressed Tanaka, he had a wedding ring on his finger.

“Yes, to a man” he said resolute.

“I’m sorry we can’t advise you, Dabi”

“You’re on your own, kid” the manager patted my shoulder while pouring some more whiskey for himself.

“But I’m curious about something” Haruma put his face on his hand, awkwardly close to mine. “Are you in love?”

His breath hit my nose; the manager sighed and I couldn’t shut up: “I am madly in love, I cannot breath when she’s not near, I love her”

“Aww that was sweet” Haruma smiled.

“You could’ve been a detective if you’d stayed at school” the manager said to Haruma.

“Yeah, but bartending is fun” Haruma said with a sly grin. I looked at him confused, and he explained immediately: “My quirk forces people to be brutally honest. One day I asked my father why he was mean to me and he said he hated me because I killed my mom during labor”

Our boss lighted a cigarette for himself.

“You know it’s not true”

“Well I didn’t kill her, it’s not possible, but she died and he blamed me my whole life. I dropped high school and left his house, I’ve been on my own since then”

“So you’re in love, that’s why Momo couldn’t pull you up” Tanaka smiled at me, “that’s a relief, she’s the reason I had to fire the guy before you”

“That and he was also a jerk” Haruma said.

“He was tall and strong…”

“I hated him!” Haruma insisted.

“He was perfect for the job until she messed with him!”

“Then why didn’t you fire her? He was an asshole, you just can’t admit it because he’s your type!”

They started and argument and I had to leave. It was early; the daylight was clearing the streets as I was walking home. If I was so in love and if I had pictured us as a family before, why was I so nervous? Why did I feel like I could go away on my own at any given minute?

I stayed in the living room for a moment, took a bath and went back to the couch; she came out of the room and looked at me.

“Are you okay?” she asked. My body moved by itself, walked towards her and hugged her, “Did something bad happen?”

“I never asked you how you feel about this. I never asked you if you want this. I assumed you were fine because I’m here but I have no idea what’s going on or what to do to make things right”

In other words, I was an idiot.

She hugged me back, her nose snorted and I felt her crying on me as she ranted:

“I had no idea how to talk about this, I feel like a mess! I’m not doing good at my job and I can’t handle a household even when this is a smaller place. The other day I said ‘hi’ to a baby in the street and he cried! Then I cried and his mom was so nice, she comforted me when the baby stopped crying!”

She started to say unintelligible things and I just nodded and patted her back as she continued:

“What, when and how am I supposed to tell my parents? My mom is gonna bully me so hard if I cry when my own baby cries!”

She cried long and loud for good thirty minutes before getting ready for work, she used a couple of cold spoons to deflate her puffy eyes.

I was tired but I could barely sleep. I felt curious about Haruma’s quirk and how much information he could get out of anybody.

“I learned the hard way that pushing people’s boundaries is a double edge sword,” he told me. I thought it was because of his father, but he continued: “One time I took a girl home, I used to ask them what kind of stuff they like…“

He kept talking, he reminded me of Hana and despite I liked them both, I would never put them in the same room together.

“So, who is it?” he asked, “Your girlfriend?” I didn’t say anything and he smiled, “bring her one night, I’ll make some alcohol-free cocktails just for her and I’ll ask her whatever you wanna know, but… don’t resent me later”

Our boss appeared behind him and hit the back of his head.

“Don’t listen to a word he says, whatever you’re planning don’t do it” he warned us.

“Tanaka!” Haruma bawled, rubbing where he was hit.

“I heard ‘bring her’ and I don’t care who you’re talking about, you better don’t bring anyone to meet this slut man”

“Tanaka, that’s rude!” Haruma cried louder.

“Don’t be like this, Tanakun, let him bring her” Momo sat next to me, “I’m curious about the type of girl this idiot likes” She gave me a shiver “how many girlfriends did you say you’ve had?”

“I didn’t say” I said as I stood up to leave.

“See you tomorrow, Dabi!”

Haruma and our boss said goodbye, but as soon as I was walking out, I felt somebody following me. She didn’t even hide.

“Stop the stalking” I told her when she approached me.

“It’s not stalking, I’m just walking in the same direction that you are” she defended herself, but this wasn’t the first time she tried to follow me.

“Okay, walk then” I made a sign with my hand to let her pass in front of me and she smiled.

“Are you going to walk behind me? Do you like that kind of stuff, Dabi, chasing pretty girls on lonely streets?”

“There are no pretty girls in this street, just go your own way” I said as I walked back to the club, but she didn’t left me alone.

“You’ve never had another girlfriend, have you?” she asked, “Maybe you should sleep with other girls so you could see that sex isn’t a fucking big deal, you don’t have to run away from me all the time!”

I arrived and saw Haruma and Tanaka closing the door.

“Did you forget something?” Tanaka asked, but I shook my head.

“Where you going? Wanna share a taxi?” Haruma asked.

They lived in the opposite direction, but I nodded. Haruma complained a lot in the back of the taxi, he was saying it’s my fault that he had to share a taxi with Tanaka; I fell asleep.

I woke up when we arrived at Tanaka’s house. Haruma was there:

“I thought I’d have to carry you” he sighed in relief.

I tried to leave, but they didn’t let me.

“I know where you live” Tanaka said, “You’re running away from something. What is it? You forgot to collect laundry?”

Haruma laughed: “Married people are a different breed”

“We’re not married,” I said.

“Yet” Haruma said. “Oh! Tanaka, your husband”

A mutant came out of a room, a big, tall man with two pairs of arms and eyes. I tried not to stare.

“We didn’t mean to wake you up, Beanie, sorry” Tanaka said, but his husband said it was fine, they went to the kitchen and I noticed he was staring at me.

I smirked when I realized why the club’s name is Beanie and One Day.

“Do you know each other?” Haruma asked me and I denied it.

I started to receive a couple of messages from my babe.

“Don’t worry. See you at home soon” Sent.

“That’s not right” Haruma said, looking at my messages before taking over my phone, “Give me that!” he wrote something really fast and sent it, then took a picture and sent it. “Now we’re good”

My phone ringed a couple of times, Haruma read the messages and smiled pleased with himself.

Tanaka and his husband put a few plates and juice for us – his husband was drinking coffee.

“It’s good to see a new face, this never happens” his husband said politely. “What brought you here?”

“Momo” I said.

Tanaka jumped in his seat and his husband grinned.

“I told you that girl means troubles, nothing stops her ever, I knew it since she tried to mess with my nephew”

“We’ve had a long list of security guards,” Haruma told me.

“And why haven’t you fire her?” I asked Tanaka.

“Look, she’s harmless, she dances well, and she…”

“She’s an orphan” his husband interrupted, “and this guy over here has a terrible savior’s complex. Momo’s an orphan, Haruma was neglected and I suppose you…”

I nodded; he was kinda right. Tanaka exhaled:

“I’m gonna talk to her again, just give her time”

“Time for what?” Haruma asked him, “If she keeps trying to follow him she’s gonna do something stupid, you know her”

“Well, if I fire her she will come back as a client”

“Why she doesn’t cause you any trouble?” I asked Haruma.

“Oh, she likes tough guys and I’m a cinnamon roll”

Beanie laughed, squeezed Haruma’s cheek and said:

“It’s not just that, she likes to break her favorite toys”

“Here we go again” Tanaka rolled his eyes.

“I hate to say ‘I told you so’, but you know I’m right” He finished his breakfast, “Listen, she doesn’t just wants to hook around, she likes breaking hearts, she likes to make guys obsessed with her and dump them like trash”

Haruma put his arm around my shoulders and pointed at my face.

“The thing with this guy is that he’s already obsessed with someone”

“Oh, a challenge, she hasn’t have to deal with someone in love before” Tanaka’s husband analyzed me, looking somewhat pleased.

“You should go to work, honey,” Tanaka said.

“Sure, I’m leaving, but I wanna know something first” he said and looked at me, “what’s your girlfriend like?”

Haruma smiled and asked too:

“Yeah, what is she like, Dabi?”

It hit me again; I recognized it this time, I immediately bursted out a ton of cheesy compliments about her image — like her captivating sparkly eyes, contagious laugh— and personality —how kind she is and tough at the same time. I felt exhausted when I was done and had to take a deep breath.

Beanie and Haruma seemed extremely satisfied. Tanaka looked at me worried. For myself, I think I fainted after that.

Suddenly, I was at my birth house.

I heard mom humming in the kitchen, Fuyumi was helping her to make dinner, I could smell it; Natsu crossed the front door and greeted me.

“When did you get here?” Natsu patted my back when he walked by.

“Touya, help us set the table” Fuyumi told me from the kitchen’s door. Mom smiled at me, behind her:

“Touya! Welcome home!”

I tried to reach them, I really tried, but the room stretched as Natsu, Fuyumi and mom stared at me from afar.

“Did you go to Sekoto Peak again, Touya?”

That man, my father, was by my side wearing a frown and the house disappeared and turned to the forest.

The forest was on fire, my blue fire, and my babe was standing there. I called her name but nothing came out of my mouth so I screamed – still nothing - and the flames embraced her but she didn’t move.

A bucket of cold water hit me and woke me up; Tanaka and Haruma were standing in front of me.

“What the fuck were you dreaming?!” Tanaka asked.

“Dude, your face!” Haruma looked at me terrified.

I touched my face, it was hot, and I used my phone’s camera to see the damage: a mark of burnt skin appeared around my collarbone. It wasn’t that bad.

“You seem to be used to burning yourself, it doesn’t hurt?”

“I am used to this, a friend fixed my face a couple of months ago” I sighed when I realized Hana was gonna kick me.

“A couple of months, then your girlfriend has seen you like this,” Tanaka mumbled.

“So we don’t have to worry about her getting back at us” Hamura sighed in relief, Tanaka looked at him in disapproval.

“Watch your words”

“It’s fine” I said, “Thank you… for everything”

“Thank you for not burning yourself to death”

“Tanaka, don’t say that!”

“I’ve done worse. I need to go home” I said.

Tanaka invited me to eat first and brought a burn cream for me; after that Haruma and I left, we were walking side by said when he started talking:

“Hey, about your thing with Momo…”

“I don’t have a thing…”

“My bad! It was a poor choice of words, but I wanted to let you know, she’s not like that. That thing Tanaka’s lovey dovey said before... Momo likes to make guys fall for her, but she’s scared of commitment.”

“So what?”

“I thought you could trick Momo into thinking you’d dump your girlfriend for her, you don’t have to go all the way with her. Just pretend she caught your eye, take her to the movies…”

“No”

“Well, it’s respectable. See you later!”

In the subway, I thought about inviting an iced coffee to my babe, so I took my phone to send a message and read all the stupid messages Haruma sent her.

“Hi hi, this is Haruma, a friend from work your fluffy-haired boyfriend made, he’s with me and our boss right now, we’re having a little reunion but don’t worry, we’ll return him later, safe and sound - pinky promise” Sent. Right after my last text.

“If he’s not friendly, why friendly shaped?” Sent, with a blurred picture.

“Hello, Haruma, thank you for taking care of him.” Read.

“Have fun” Read.

“Sorry, we broke him.” Sent with a picture of me sleeping on the couch.

“LOL, send me another please” Read.

[PIC][PIC][PIC][+7 PICs] Sent.

“TYSM♡” Read.

It’s like they’re speaking another language, I thought.

Then I remembered what I dreamed and tried to take it off my mind, but I couldn’t. I was just entering our neighborhood when she called me, except she wasn’t the person on the other side of the line.

A police officer introduced himself and explained a fucked up situation:

She was at the police station. There was an illegal use of her quirk. She caused a public disturbance. She had a verbal fight with a hero.

Each sentence the officer said was more ridiculous than the previous one, then he mentioned a car accident and I lost it.

At that moment, I wish I could teleport like her, but the only thing I could do was take a taxi. When I arrived, she was sitting in front of an officer’s desk, he was yelling something at her and she was quiet, just taking it.

“If she was in an accident why are you yelling at her?!” I yelled at the officer, she looked at me and jumped up, there were no visible injuries or scratches; the officer stood up too and a couple more hurried as if we were gonna fight.

“Is this your husband?” he yelled at her again, as if I wasn’t there.

“You bet I am!” I walked furious towards them.

“What the fuck did you tell him?” she asked him upset.

“What happened?” I wanted to hear it from her, but the officer didn’t let her talk.

“She caused a public disturbance when she verbally fought with a hero that was about to save a kid…”

“I already told you that is not what happened!” she exclaimed, absolutely mad, “that dickhead hero caused the car accident right after I saved the kid, check the goddamn CCTVs!”

“What hero?” I asked.

“Nobody important” she said calmly and turned back to the officer, “there were eyewitnesses and you, the goddamn police! Just took the hero’s word for granted! Fucking inefficient!”

He wrote something while shaking his head, I felt the urge to burn everything down but I looked at her, she was mad but she looked fine.

“Should I take you to the hospital?” I asked her but she refused.

“You can’t go anywhere until you pay the bail,” said the officer and pissed me off, I wanted to burn him to ashes.

“You should’ve start there” she reproached him with fire in her eyes, pulling her wallet out of her purse.

“And you still owe an apology to Beast Arms”

“He’s the one who should be apologizing!” she complained, “that fucking beast almost killed somebody”

She was distressed; it was all over her face. When we walked out of the police station, I hugged her and she cuddled, her scent filled my nose and I patted her back.

“I fucking hate heroes” she complained, “this was all his fault”

“Today was a long day for the both of us” I whispered. She touched my collarbone.

“I noticed,” she whispered back.

“What happened?” I still wanted to hear it from her.

“I was walking home and I saw a kid running, he crossed the street at a red light and I just teleported to get him and teleported back to the sidewalk with him. Out of nowhere, that dumbass hero jumped at the same time we appeared back in the sidewalk, and he didn’t just stopped the car, he crashed it! Can you believe it?! And it wasn’t just that car, the one behind it and another crashed too! It was madness! And the idiot looked around and saw me with the kid crying and addressed me as if I did something wrong, he jumped in too hard he could’ve smashed the poor kid!”

“Why was the kid crying?”

“He was trying to catch his puppy, that’s the worst part! I didn’t see the puppy, I just took the kid back to the sidewalk and the hero was yelling at me and I saw the poor thing lying dead in the middle of the street, so I yelled back at that stupid piece of shit! He’s supposed to be trained, he’s supposed to see the whole situation before jumping in to action, he could’ve save the puppy, but noooo!”

She kept ranting and moving her hands in the air and I was so enchanted by how much she depreciated that hero that I wished it was Endeavor the one that stood in her way. I would’ve killed to see the old man being reprehended by her in front of a crowd.

She was so into it that she didn’t notice I was taking her to the hospital to make sure she and the baby were fine. That night I saw for the first time an echography, the doctor said everything was normal but I felt like an idiot because I saw nothing on the screen.

They both laughed at me.

“It’s always hard for new parents, especially the dads” the doctor said, she was really nice, “I’m gonna show you something cool”

Suddenly Hana came in.

“Hi there! Whatchu doin?” She saluted playful as usual, but her eyes looked tired.

“Hana, shh” the doctor shushed her and my babe waved her hand.

A sound filled the room, it started as a numb beat and then it cleared… my babe closed her eyes and the doctor smiled. Hana covered her mouth with one hand and put the other on my arm while jumping in excitement.

“That’s your baby’s heartbeats,” she whispered but she probably wanted to scream.

I felt something warm in my chest, something I wasn’t able to put in words but it compared to the day I made blue flames, it filled me with joy somehow. I wished it would last forever.

Story of a villain - Part 3

Goodnight, Dabi stans.

Here's the third part of my fanfic. This is kind of the end, but there was an epilogue that I'm not sure if I want to translate because this is too much work, I'm sorry.

I enjoyed it, tho.

This part contains +7000 words, no smut parts (sorry), mentions of unaliving oneself and others and a brief introduction to villain Dabi.

I don't have much to say. About the epilogue, it's from the female lead POV. I will translate it but I won't make any promises, this is obviously not a happy ending.

PART 3

We spent two perfectly good months together, she seemed happier, healthier and back on her tracks — though I wondered if she was faking it.

“Have you think of any names?” she asked one morning.

“I’ve been thinking about marriage,” I confessed. She looked at me stunned. “What?”

“Will you claim your name back?”

“Well, I have to” she jumped to hug me so hard we ended on the floor, the pain in my back could’ve made me pass out.

“I’m sorry, I got carried away,” she said excited, her hair fell beautifully on her face and her eyes turned teary “I only dreamed of this before”

“Get up, please” I begged.

She jumped up and helped me to get up as if I was an old man. I would never forget the look on her face that morning; we pulled out the details to make it possible — the wedding. Lord, have mercy, I thought.

She smirked and chuckled maliciously when she said she wouldn’t give any invitations to her parents and simply tell them she was marrying a Todoroki; his dad was a huge Endeavor fan. I grinned imagining my old man’s face when he finds out I’m alive.

After talking about it with a little dose of premeditated vengeance, she went to work but at the end of the day, she didn’t come back home.

She didn’t answer the calls or reply to my messages. That same day, Hana joined my concern, it was like she vanished midday. I went to her workplace the next morning; of course, I couldn’t sneak in so I wandered around the building asking people if they knew her, if they saw her.

“Hi, kid!”

It was Beanie, greeting me with a big smile. I told him about her. He wasn’t a part of the same company, but his workplace was just one floor below and he promised he’d investigate inside.

I went to her birth home. It was a manor with tall fences and a garden before the entrance.

“I forgot how rich they are,” I murmured before looking for a way to get in. Hana wanted to come but I convinced her she didn’t have to.

I tried to be civilized and ringed the doorbell, but they told me to leave.

When I sneaked in, they noticed immediately, a group of bodyguards ran after me, I used my quirk to keep them away but I got tackled by somebody else’s quirk, something heavy was keeping me down, the other idiots attempted to kick me but I let my flames out, burning everything –even myself- with blue flames.

They mumbled something my own rage didn’t let me hear and her mother appeared in front of me. She looked down at me with a stupid rest face she always wears.

“Come inside, I’ll tell you what you want”

She disappeared – teleported; I stood up and let them deal with the flames all over the garden.

I walked in, not much changed, but I noticed a few things less. I recalled the first time I came here:

“My parents are in Europe” her voice was so clear in my mind, her face smiling at me, “So we have the whole house for ourselves this week” and she proceeded to introduce me to the maids. “They won’t say anything, don’t worry about a thing”

Her playful smile, that specific smile engraved in my memory, made my heart ache a little.

A maid led me to the dining table and served me a cup of something I wasn’t going to drink, the old lady sat at the other side of the table and sipped a cup of coffee and I knew she was waiting for this moment.

“Where is she?” I asked.

I wanted to burn her and everything in this place but I just stood there waiting for an answer.

“Far away; obviously” she looked at me as if I was stupid; maybe I was for actually expecting her to tell me anything, “I told her before that she had to let go of this stupid teenage dream she had with you. I went to your tiny apartment and warned you, you don’t get to come here and act like we kidnapped our own daughter”

I grinned and chuckled; she raised an eyebrow and continued:

“Anyhow, I understand the way you’re feeling right now, I’m sad with this outcome too”

“You don’t get to tell me you feel sad. Where is she?” I asked again.

“That’s none of your business”

“We’re having a baby,” I said, but she didn’t look surprised.

A couple of weeks ago, we were watching a movie and talking about this moment, we supposed they’d find out before we could say anything, but none of us ever thought they’d react so cold-hearted.

“We took care of it” she stood up. Something passed through my chest and stabbed my heart. “And we found a way to erase you from her memories, so you can leave forever this time”

“What do you mean…” I asked as I lose strength in my legs, “With ‘took care’? What does it mean?” I could barely keep standing, could barely breathe.

She fucking smirked. I wanted to kill her.

“What else could it mean? Something that should’ve never happen, happened; we, as her parents, had to do something to correct it.”

A thousand thoughts ran through my mind as I felt my raging fire burning my skin.

“You may burn this house down if you wish,” she said with a pleased smile, “we’re leaving it anyway”

I aimed to the chair in front of me, I thought of burning everything including myself but she looked so expectant that I had to control myself.

“What? You can’t?” she took her phone out and showed me her screen.

There was a video of her, her mouth gagged, eyes wide open and white, some idiot’s hands were holding her head and I couldn’t hear it but I knew she was screaming.

“In a minute all of the life you tried to build together turned to nothing, I wish we could’ve done this before” she said viciously.

“That’s your daughter, stupid old bitch!” I yelled at her and slowly turned the flames down. “How can you let somebody hurt her?”

I realized that she really was trying to manipulate me and I wasn’t going to let that happen, she wouldn’t win anything from me.

“Now you look like before. Disgusting, wretched…”

“Go fuck yourself!” I shouted and she frowned.

“You’re disgusting,” she said again.

“And you’re a monster!” I yelled from the bottom of my guts. “That’s why she hates you and no quirk can erase that! Even if they could, in five minutes she’d turn her back on you again”

“Leave, now” she commanded.

“I thought you wanted me to burn this place down, what if I only burn you to ashes?” I raised my hand and she teleported out of my sight, “I knew you’d do that”

I ran upstairs and looked inside every room, they were empty, even her old bedroom. I was too gentle to that old bitch, I thought as I hit the floor on my knees; dark smoke came out of my hands and mouth, I shook myself to let it out but I couldn’t fight it anymore.

A growing blaze of blue fire came out of my mouth as I screamed, rotting in the burning pain of my mind tricking me. Recalling a bunch of silly things we used to do when we were younger: messy top-lip first kisses, teleporting together and actually falling because she messed up, her unbelievable capacity to make things up when she was losing an argument…

Since the bedroom was empty, the only thing I turned to ashes was the wallpaper. I checked the attic, just in case, and I was just walking out of the basement when a bodyguard crossed my path.

“Police is coming, you should leave” he said and walked away.

Then, I left. I wandered around the places we used to go, places we used to hide after school, where we had our first kiss, where she said she loved me for the first time and a thousand times later, even looked up when I walked by the building she jumped off once. We were talking about it not so long ago.

“Can we always be this close?” she said while cuddling just the other night, her voice vibrated in the back of my mind. The image of her body shaking, soaking wet in the shower squeezed my heart.

I didn’t go to work or called anyone since my phone melted before, I don’t know when I arrived to our apartment but I just laid in bed for a while.

Somebody knocked the door a few times, it happened in different occasions but I didn’t open it. I never got up. I heard steps and voices but everything was numb and blurred, then I saw her face but it wasn’t her, it couldn’t be her.

“Dabi, you’ll be fine,” she said.

“Don’t worry, kid, we got you” that was a male voice but I couldn’t recognize it.

There were flashing lights, everything around was turning brighter and I felt nothing as if I was a ghost.

“Maybe I died,” I thought — or I think I thought.

I heard a laugh.

“You were close,” someone said. “And you scared me to death, can you feel my hand?”

I felt nothing, but that voice was clear now, it was Hana’s.

“Where am I?” I asked, I opened my eyes but the light was too bright and it made me press my eyelids again.

“You’re at the hospital; did you really try to die? Because I’ve known you for a good amount of time and I don’t think you’re the kind of guy that settles with trying”

“I was tired, shocked, I think I fainted,” I mumbled.

“That’s why I wanted to go with you, I knew something bad happened, I felt it in my heart,” she said with a tone in her voice as if she was about to cry. “I’m sorry I couldn’t be there”

“DABI!” Haruma yelled as he opened the door.

“Behave! We’re at a hospital,” Tanaka was behind him and Beanie too, he brought some juice as a gift. “You lost weight”

“Hey, kid” he saluted doing a peace sign.

“I called them, we all found you last night,” Hana said and proceeded to explain to me everything that happened:

She was the first to go and knock on our door but nobody opened; the next morning Tanaka went to my place, later that same day Haruma went and asked my neighbors but they didn’t see anyone get in or out. Hana went back the next morning and met Beanie at the elevator, they asked the manager of the building about us and found out the contract remain intact.

Finally, that same night they all went together and convinced the manager to open the door. Found me lying in bed, I wasn’t moving so they thought I killed myself but I made a noise, apparently mumbled something they couldn’t understand and I can’t remember.

I apologized, ashamed how pathetic I must look right now.

“If you have energy to feel sorry, save it to recover, kid, and drink this” Beanie handed me a can of juice.

“I don’t have energy at all,” I confessed.

“You know, at first I thought they sent her away,” Hana told me, rubbed her left arm maybe wondering if she should talk about it in front of them, “but she hasn’t contacted me at all and it’s strange. What did they tell you?”

Normally I wouldn’t tell them, but Hana deserved to know at least the short version. I clenched my fists while speaking.

“Rich people are horrible,” Haruma said and grinned, “That’s why I don’t have any money”

“Shut up, your jokes are the worst,” Tanaka said, he chuckled though.

“If she’s still in Japan, we could find her,” Hana said resolute.

“But if it’s true and she doesn’t remember…” Beanie tried to elaborate but Hana talked faster than he did.

“I don’t care! Brainwashing, magic quirks or whatever they did to her, we have to find my best friend. She fell in love with you once, she’ll do it again, Dabi; and about the baby, I don’t buy it. I know her father and he’s a big fan of quirks like yours. He worships quirks; my dad and he used to gather around with other people at the manor and talk about some meta liberation thing, it was like a cult, they scared me and I only got over it thanks to her, I need her”

Tanaka raised his hand.

“I hate to break it to you, but if they managed to erase her memory once, they could do it again”

“Well, we could...” Hana bit her lip “you could run away together, she always talked about that”

“You’re being too optimistic and it’s normal when you’re in your twenties, but you gotta keep a cool head, sweetie,” Beanie said, “I managed to find somebody that knows her at work and they told me she was moved to America’s office”

“America?!” Haruma whistled, surprised.

This was pointless; I clenched my fists harder, wishing none of this was real. A nurse came in and asked Hana for help.

“Whatever you want to do, we support you, we’re like family now,” Tanaka told me when Hana left the room.

I didn’t know what I wanted to do, I just knew I wanted her back home with me. I wanted to go to our apartment and find her sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee on her hand, watching an old and stupid American movie.

“You know, we could hire a detective from a hero’s agency” Haruma suggested and I couldn’t help to laugh, “hey I’m not a fan of heroes but they’ve got quirks that could make locating people way easier, they’d find her faster than a regular detective”

“And what would he tell them?” Beanie asked him. “‘My in-laws kidnapped my pregnant girlfriend, find her’?”

“Why are you being such a bummer, Beanie? That’s not like you!” Haruma crossed his arms, annoyed.

“I talked to people that worked with her, they said her parents were keeping eyes on her and she was being cautious about something; they heard her crying in the bathroom and… I just feel pity for her and I think if she’s still pregnant it’s better to let her go through it in a peaceful environment.”

“And what if she’s not?” Haruma asked and my heart shrank. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be mean,” he told me.

“Or what if they forced her to marry somebody else after brainwashing her?” Tanaka said it as if he was thinking aloud, “You know, to keep the pregnancy. Fire quirks are quite common”

“Then they’d pretend her baby belongs to the other man” Beanie agreed to Tanaka and continued: “Think of all the stress it could cause her if you show up at her door claiming to be her baby’s daddy and she doesn’t even know you now”

I yawned, not because I was bored but because I was tired, too tired to even think or join the conversation. Hana came back.

“What were you talking about?” she asked and Haruma elaborated a resume. “Well, I’ll find her on my own if I have to; they’d have to erase her whole life to remove me from her memories. I have to leave you alone, got a lot of work to do”

She left the room pretty worked up.

“She’s stubborn, I like her” Haruma smirked.

“Don’t you dare,” I warned him.

“She’s a doctor; she doesn’t have time for love anyway”

“She’s prettier, younger and smarter than you, you don’t even stand a chance” Tanaka made fun of him and Haruma squealed.

I chuckled.

“Are you feeling better?” Beanie asked me with a smile.

“No”

I was shattered, but I got used to them fighting like that.

They stayed a little longer; changed the subject and lighten my mood. I fell asleep as soon as they left me alone. I slept for more than fifteen hours and they discharged me of the hospital soon.

Going back home knowing she wasn’t there felt wrong. She was the reason I got this place; she was… everything.

I paced the apartment a few times, and then I looked at the kitchen and it hit me: her silhouette dancing around the kitchen in the refrigerator light. I shook my head, took a deep breath — I had to go out for a walk.

I searched in every convenience store for soju. I didn’t like it but she did and just when I paid, Haruma came along; I noticed he had a backpack.

“Take it easy!” He told me, “You just got discharged. I’ma buy something to eat, wait”

He bought instant ramen, chips and took me back to my apartment. It was mine now, only mine, and it killed me.

“I suspected you wouldn’t wanna be here, but you have to. You can’t go back to work right now, you’ve gotta fix your mess” He was surprised when he saw the apartment clean, “Well, I wasn’t talking about this but it’s a good start”

While we were eating and drinking, he didn’t try to talk about anything else to keep my mind distracted, he tried to undo the riddle in my mind instead; I appreciated he didn’t use his quirk on me.

“I don’t know why you don’t like heroes, but I happen to know one that may find out if she’s still in Japan”

I cold stared at him and he sighed.

“I think Beanie was kinda right and you shouldn’t just go and knock her door if she doesn’t know you anymore, but if I was you — well, fuck it, I wouldn’t be able to sleep not knowing what happened to my baby”

He took a book out of his backpack; I also notice he brought some clothes in it, “have you seen this before?”

I took it; it had a red cover and a stupid title ‘Meta Liberation War’. I shook my head and opened the book.

“A girl left it at my place long ago, when your girlfriend’s friend mentioned the meta liberation, it ringed something in my mind and when I got back home I remembered. She was crazy as fuck but in a good way”

I read a random page in silence. It was a self-centered book strategically written to provoke the masses against the government claiming the free use of quirks is a human right.

“This is stupid” I said and put the book aside.

“I know” he mumbled while eating, “but it’s the kind of organization that needs empathy and money to subsist, and wealthy people like her family can patronize at least one. Why did you buy soju?”

“She liked it; her father’s family is from South Korea”

“Any chance she’s with them?”

“She kept in touch with her grandma, but her father wasn’t in good terms with them for some reason”

“Did they ever match her with a suitor?” he asked and I looked at him. “They did?”

“Yes, around three months ago”

“Do you think he likes her enough to marry her knowing she’s waiting?”

“No. He’s stupid but he’s proud”

“Argh! Everything’s too complicated!” He sighed and let himself fall on his back, exhausted.

Haruma stayed over for two days, it was like having a brother again, except that this time I was the youngest. I learned a few things about being the eldest; one of them was that I sucked as an older brother.

Back to work, they gave me a warm welcome. I thought it would be awkward to go back there, now that I had no reason to stay… but not much changed, only Momo — she finally left me alone.

I kept in touch with Hana for a while, she hired Haruma’s suggested hero and sent me a few messages and voice records of people declaring they saw her at inaccurate locations across the country. Hana traveled a couple of times, but it was in vain.

I assumed Beanie was right, maybe she and the baby were fine and living a peaceful life now — without me. I still hoped to find her someday, maybe walking on the sidewalk pushing a stroller. I longed to see at least a glimpse of her smile.

Eventually, Hana stopped updating me and I just lost track of time. A month, two months, three months or more passed and I still couldn’t believe it nor understand how we ended up like this. The both of us were so unlucky, we had such shitty parents willing to keep us down bad to fulfill their own goals and expectations.

I got in jail a few times for setting trees on fire, setting garbage on fire and even abandoned buildings — it helped me to steam off. Tanaka and Beanie paid my bail a few times.

“You can’t keep doing this” Beanie scolded me the last time, “there are millions of girls, find another one, move on”

“Or I might just die” I said, “It’ll make no difference”

He looked at me concerned; they tried to take care of me, but I couldn’t even pretend that I gave a shit about anything after all the things I did just to settle for a regular life with her.

I shattered the mirror on the bathroom’s wall when I realized how fucking small and pathetic I was. I would’ve taken my eyeballs out just to never see my own face again.

The day I decided to take a turn came after I heard the news about a heroes’ killer in Hosu; Haruma showed everyone a video of him – some fans posted his biography online.

“He’s wrong” I said, “True heroes don’t exist”

“That was bold, you idiot” Momo reproached me. “I like some heroes, like All Might and Hawks” she let a weird sigh out.

“Are you in heat?” Haruma made fun of her.

“There’s no use in fighting other people’s beliefs, Momo” Tanaka said and looked at me. “You keep losing weight. Are you coming to work tomorrow?”

“Sure”

By day, I found myself back to what I used to do for a living. I didn’t need the cash, I enjoyed making people scream, cry and suffer; also, my old boss was the right person to find a connection to the so called ‘League of Villains’ the heroes’ killer supposedly belonged.

It didn’t take long when I met Shigaraki; I quit my job and abandoned the apartment. I moved on along with the League of Villains even though I didn’t want a society with true heroes like Stain.

I wanted a world with no heroes at all, so I planned to use the League of Villains to fulfill my goal — I started murdering for real, and I tried to don’t lose my mind with every single step we took until we fought the Meta Liberation Army.

It brought memories back, that day in Deika City something wasn’t right. After defeating them, we merged to the Paranormal Liberation Front, the members of the league were introduce as lieutenants, and I saw her again inside the main headquarters.

Her hair was shorter, her clothes were all black and vague for her body size —she lost weight— and she was holding a white haired baby, she looked at me and that’s the closest I’ve been in a long time to feel my heart explode, I stood there staring as she walked toward the asshole with the ice quirk.

“My love” she called him that and it made me want to die.

I couldn’t help to stare at them walking together with his arm around her waist and she turned her head to me one time, the spark in her eyes was gone. I wanted to beat the shit out of that lame excuse of an understudy, but I had to find out how she ended up here first and I couldn’t trust anyone with this.

One day I got her alone, she was rocking her baby trying to make him sleep, I put my hand on her shoulder and she jumped, teleported only two meters away but she took me with them.

“I’m sorry, it was a reflex, but you didn’t fall,” she said impressed. I kept looking into her eyes, waiting for a sign that she was able to recognize me.

“You’re not a soldier,” I said and she seemed nervous. Any sign will do, I thought.

“No – my husband, Geten, is a lieutenant. Did my baby’s crying annoy you? I’m sorry, I’ll just go back to our room”

She was different; it wasn’t just that she forgot about me. I put my hand on her shoulder.

“Come to my room,” I said. “I’ll help you out”

“But…”

“Come” I put my hand on her back now and led her. “What’s his name?”

She was nervous —I felt her back sweating a little but it could’ve been because of her big black sweater — but she followed my way.

“Touya” she said and I smirked, for a moment of stupidity I thought she meant me.

“That’s a great name”

Little Touya liked fire, I lit a flame in my hand in front of him and switched it’s temperature and color and he was like hypnotized by it, when he tried to touch it I turned it off and he made a face and attempted to cry.

She giggled when Touya bawled because the flame disappeared. She wasn’t herself anymore, she turned quieter and fearful.

Talking to her, I realized she was confused; she was in Deika City before and she evacuated only an hour before the League of Villains arrived, but the most remarkable thing is that she had mixed memories.

Most of the things we lived together were still there, but it was different and she wasn’t sure when she told me certain things. Now I had to find the person that messed with her brain and fix this, fix her.

And then what?, I thought as I walked to Re-Destro’s shitty office. I wasn’t gonna play games or pretend anything, I showed him a picture and asked directly what his people did to her. He looked confused, and then it hit him.

“That’s Geten’s wife. Her father’s been patronizing the liberation for decades, she had some issues and they sent her to Deika City, we helped them to remake her life”

“How?”

“Why are you asking…?”

I punched him in the face with fire in my fist; it probably hurt me more than him.

“If I bring Shigaraki along will you still make questions?” The mention of Shigaraki turned him to a scary cat, “tell me who brainwashed her and if they can undo it now”

I learned three important things about what happened to her:

The person with the brainwash quirk died back in Deika City and even he wouldn’t be able to undo it, he was a new member and lacked training. She was use as a lab rat.

They didn’t erase her memory as I believed, they changed the faces of the people she loved the most, they started with me, then Hana and even her parents; so they abandoned her, they never cared, they simply loathed me.

Replacing me with Geten was too difficult because of the nature of his quirk didn’t match her memories with me, they caged her, tamed her and they’d call her crazy or stupid every time she questioned anything.

Re-Destro assumed her situation would be permanent since the man that messed with her brain died and she was still under his quirk’s effect, but gave me hope saying it could be like amnesia and she might get her memories back if I try to bond again with her.

“Anyhow, she’s married and Geten took the role of her husband extremely serious,” said lastly, “I wouldn’t mess with her if I was you, but that’s just my personal opinion”

I didn’t give a fuck about it, I wanted to hold her in my arms again, I would’ve beg on my knees for her to look at my face and know who I am.

If she would’ve recognize me since the moment that I saw her again I think I would’ve drop everything then, take her hand and pack her things to leave this place, I’d leave everything for them, I was ready now.

Sadly, it didn’t happen, and things turned out this way.

“You look like shit,” Mr. Compress said to me when he saw me.

“I also feel like shit”

“It’s not like you to just accept an insult”

This was one of those days where I longed to take her in my arms, make love and cuddle; having her so close but being unable to do it was killing me.

Every day I would make a way to find her and talk a little, I created every opportunity to bond with her and make little Touya laugh, but every night I’d lay in bed alone staring at the ceiling.

Hana’s words resonated in my mind: “She fell in love with you once, she’ll do it again”

I was getting tired of being a stranger loving her from afar and the way my heart would race when I see her walking around rocking Touya, I wanted to be her side so bad it was causing me physical pain.

One afternoon, I was too tired when I found her in the kitchen alone, she greeted me and I walked towards her, grabbed her arms and put my head on her shoulder.

“Don’t move,” I whispered and took a deep breath, her aroma filled my nose and made me want to cry.

“Are you okay?” she asked me but I kept silent. Somebody walked in and she got all nervous, “this is not what it looks like! He’s sick, we should call the nurses!”

I let myself fall on her a little to play my part and she held me tenderly, put one hand on my head and the other on my back.

“Take him to the infirmary, you can teleport,” a woman said.

“You’re right!” she exclaimed before teleporting.

Only for that, I let go of myself a little and kept my eyes closed as if I had passed out. She and the nurse laid me on one of the beds in the infirmary and closed the curtain, I heard the nurse questioning her about how she was doing and it caught my curiosity.

“I heard you burned yourself the other day, what will you tell Touya about all the marks you’ve got underneath that sweater?” the nurse scolded her.

“I’m sorry. I’ll make sure he’ll never see them”

“I’m not a psychologist but it’s not healthy to hold on to pain like you’re doing”

“I’m sorry. Pain feels good, it feels familiar,” she said lacking emotions.

The nurse let a long sigh out.

“You look tired too, go and rest in bed at least fifteen minutes, ok?”

She didn’t say anything, I saw her silhouette coming close and closing the curtain before laying on the bed next to mine. Heard steps walking out, probably the nurse’s, and I attempt to open the curtain separating us, but she stood up.

I closed my eyes when she aimed to slide the curtain that was in the between the both of us.

“You look familiar,” she murmured, I felt she sat in my bed, she tucked my hair and I grabbed her wrist. She squealed terrified. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”

I shushed her and sat before rolling up her sleeve, she had cut marks all over her arm, I checked her other arm and it was the same.

“Take off your sweater” I commanded and she obeyed, she didn’t even try to defend herself, I rolled up her blouse only enough to see the big dark burn marks over her abdomen, also a few scars like dots above her belly button. “What is this?” I asked but she stayed quiet. “Who did this to you?”

“I can’t say, I’m sorry”

She looked down the whole time, pressing her eyes closed. I poked her forehead and she looked at me. All these years, I made sure nothing would ever happen to her, I made sure she was safe and kept her body intact only for her to end up like this minute her parents step in between us.

I want to kill them, I thought, I’m going to kill them.

“I never belonged to the Meta Liberation Army” I said to calm her down a little, “I’m a former member of the league of villains, I don’t believe or follow any of Re-Destro’s ideals”

She looked at me, still quiet, her eyes turned reddish as if she was holding her bad temper. Her true self was captive inside there, but she was unable to let her go. I poked her forehead.

“You can tell me,what happened, missy?” I asked calmly. For a second I saw her old spark in her eyes, she doubted but she opened up.

She told me about Re-Destro and three other men; they kept her isolated and she was unable to use her quirk for a long time due to some injections they forced on her, Re-Destro told her it was an initiation rite to join the meta liberation army before letting her alone with the others.

She confessed with teary eyes that she didn’t remember how long they kept her apart or being pregnant; and they basically tortured and slaughter her body right after Touya was born.

I barely managed to keep a straight face while she narrated the horrors she was forced to endure, but deep down my boiling blood was irritating my veins. I asked her if Geten was one of the guys that hurt her.

“No, he’s not! Everything stopped when I met Geten, they let me go out and I could be with Touya! When we got married, he protected us”

Her eyes shimmered the same way they used to shine for me. I looked the other way.

“Damn, you’re pretty” I mumbled upset.

I didn’t want anybody to know or even suspect, but I started to be more gentle with her, not only because of my past feelings but because I felt guilty; the person that I knew and loved was destroyed long ago and I didn’t even try to save her. I also damned Beanie in my mind.

However, seeing her face everyday lightened my mood; and when I was able to hold Touya my heart would skip a beat.

“He really likes you,” she said one morning, only to kill me with her next words, “he only plays like that with Geten”

“How did you pick his name?” I asked her just to change the subject.

“Oh, it was stuck in my mind. For some reason I used to dream with a little red haired kid named Touya, he also had ocean blue eyes so when I held him and saw his eyes for the first time, I immediately thought it was him in my dreams; I must be crazy, right?”

She used to call herself crazy or stupid often, I started to scold her about it. Touya did have blue eyes like mine, but they had her spark.

“No, you’re not” I told her, “A good parent knows their kid”

“Yeah, I suppose. Do you have kids?”

I looked at her, longing to tell her Touya was mine, I hardly swallowed my saliva.

“Why…?”

“You’re too good with Touya, I’m sorry if I crossed a boundary”

“I have… siblings, I’m the eldest”

She looked at me as if something clicked in her mind.

“I’m sorry, what was your last name?” she shook her head and smiled, I noticed she forced herself to smile.

I looked around; we were completely alone, maybe I could test something real fast. I raised my hand and burned the camera.

“Todoroki” I said.

Her smile disappeared; her gaze looked at me up and down.

“No, you can’t be” her voice and eyes were shivering.

She looked dizzy, her eyes turned white and I approached her immediately but she pushed me.

“NO! Don’t touch me! Who are you?” she screamed and scared Touya, “GO AWAY!”

I heard steps rushing to the kitchen, no one was touching her but she was screaming in pain and far from feeling sad or confused, I wanted to murder every person that contributed to revolve her brain.

A bunch of people I didn’t know, and Twice with Hawks, came in the kitchen and approached her but she only screamed louder and teleported out of my sight.

“Twice, report her to whoever’s in the cameras” I said as I ran out of the kitchen.

“OKAY! What? I’m on it!”

“Anyone report her immediately! She’s confused and can teleport anywhere!”

I ran to the elevator, she had to be outside. Touya started crying but I couldn’t help it, finding her was my priority.

Just when I crossed the front door, I saw her sitting at steps of the entrance and the ice jerk was on his knees, holding her in his arms, Hawks — that traitor hero — was standing next to them with that stupid smirk I hated; they turned to me when they heard Touya crying.

“Touya!” She stood up, “I’m sorry, mama’s okay now,” she said when she reached him and held him again.

“Go inside” the ice jerk told her, then eye-sided me, “may I have a word?” I didn’t move, she walked inside and we stayed there. “Alone” he addressed Hawks.

“Ah? I’m not used to be unchaperoned here”

“You’ll be fine,” I said “go and find Twice”

He walked inside, leaving us alone at the entrance; I looked down on the ice jerk the whole time.

“I know who you are,” he said resolute.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean I know why you’re doing this, I know why you’re crossing paths with her in every room and hallway and I know why you’re playing with Touya at every chance you get. I let it happen because I thought she was fine but now I’m going to ask you to stop”

“How did you know?”

I supposed Re-Destro told him, but his answer pissed me off:

“I suspected it since day one; I confirmed it when she told me about the first night that you approached her. After all, she’s my wife and she comes to my bed every night”

I felt the urge to incinerate his head but I burst a laugh.

“You almost sound like you care for her!”

“I do,” he said.

“You don’t let other’s slaughter the ones you love,” I said dead serious and he frowned.

“I took her as my wife, that is my child she’s holding now and you don’t fit in their lives”

“Your child, uh” I said as I lit my blue flames, “What will you do when ‘your child’ turn on like this?”

“We’re doing this?” he stood in a defensive pose.

“Dabi” Mr. Compress’ voice came from the camera at the entrance “I’m quite sure you know this, but don’t fight the other lieutenants, we’re kind of comrades now”

I raised my hand, Shigaraki wouldn’t notice if we had one less lieutenant.

“DABI!” Twice screamed from the camera now, “I did what you said, now you listen to me, we’re all friends here! Calm down and come back inside!”

“Come on, just don’t make things awkward,” Mr. Compress said uncomfortable.

I didn’t calm down but I extinguished my flames and walked inside the building. I had no choice, I had to play my part; after that day, I started to avoid her and for a few days, we were fine on the outside.

We’ve been here at least three months and she barely changed, maybe it was time to give up but fuck it, I was in love — we were in love — and no one would ever know me or love me the way she did.

“I’ve been thinking this for a while,” Hawks said behind me. “Who is she?”

“Who?” Twice asked.

“She’s gone again. The lady with the infant, do you remember her?”

I stopped thinking and walked back on my steps.

“We’re not supposed to talk about her, she’s not meant to be a soldier” I heard Twice saying.

She wasn’t following us, I thought, I would’ve notice. I was only avoiding her for her own good; she had no reason to follow me, unless she remembered.

So what if she remembers?, I thought as I walked into the camera’s room, checked the records and I saw her following me a few meters away in every hallway and she’d teleport here and there, keeping a safe distance. She was stalking me even now when I entered this room.

“Is something wrong?”

Somebody asked me, but I didn’t answer; I saw her on another screen going upstairs, she wasn’t wearing her sweater and she had bandages wrapped from her left elbow down to her hand.

“Where do those stairs go?” I asked.

“These lead to the roof”

I rushed there, she did it on purpose, I had no evidence but I knew it, she could’ve teleported but she didn’t, she walked upstairs and stared at the camera for five seconds, I counted them – perhaps, I was losing myself again.

The door was lock.

“Fuck my life,” I said as I tried to melt the metal.

“You’re here,” her voice was soft.

She appeared behind me, I turned my flames off and looked at her face too close to mine; her eyes looked distressed, she held my arm and teleported us to the other side of the door; her eyes locked in mine, analyzing them.

“You’re not dizzy, most people feel dizzy or throw up the first times that I teleport them”

My back was against the door and she put her hands on it. The door was hot as hell but she didn’t take her hands off.

“Way to go, tiger” I said and her eyes widened. I looked over and saw the camera.

“I broke it” she said and I touched her face unconsciously, she didn’t move; her gaze was different, her pupils were dilated. I took her hands, being careful with the left, and she stepped back.

“How did you end up here?” I asked.

“My… Geten brought me…”

“No, here in the roof”

She looked down, pressed her lips, wrinkled up her nose and blinked a lot. It was like if she was a computer’s glitch. I held her shoulders.

If she teleports she’ll have to take me with her, I thought.

“I…”

She bit her lips, her eyes turned white again, and she grabbed her little finger and broke it in a matter of seconds. She screamed from the pain with her eyes closed and I took her hand to unwrap the bandage slowly; she had more cuts than before, also burn marks and now her broken finger.

Knowing it was all self-inflicted made me wish I was dead.

“I hate it here” she whined keeping her eyes closed while a single tear fell, “You know me, don’t you?”

“I do,” I said and she opened her eyes to look at me, upset.

“Since before all of this, right? That’s why Geten told me to stay away from you”

“Who did this to you?”

“I did.”

“No, this” I put my hand in her head “What did they do to your mind?”

“My mind?” she whispered, “they put my head under cold water until I lost conscience, they put handcuffs on my ankles and wrists and I used to wake up in a bathtub filled with my own blood before they put it all back inside my veins”

She didn’t seem to remember she told me all of this before, but this time was different, she wasn’t holding back, she was mad and made my heart beat like a drum.

“Who did…?” I asked.

“Re-Destro’s little bitches!” she interrupted me and I knew she was there standing right in front of me.

That’s my girl!, I thought and she continued:

“One of them used to – come at night and he put his hands on my head and… electrocute it, I felt like he was taking parts of my brain out, that was the least hard part”

I wanted to keep talking to her. I thought that I got her back and we could pack her stuff, take Touya and get the fuck out of here but suddenly the heroes ambushed the building.

“Touya” she gasped and I grabbed her arm; she teleported to her room, Touya was sleeping serenely. I grabbed her shoulders.

“Listen! Take Touya and go as far as you can, take a taxi when you get tired or when it’s safe and go to Kyushu, find the Nara Clinic and ask for Hana”

“Who’s Hana?” she asked but we were running out of time.

“Just do as I say! I’m going to find you. I promise I’m going to find you”

“Why should I listen to you?” she stepped back.

“Because…”

Geten came running in the room; he looked at us clearly annoyed.

“We don’t have time for this, take Touya and leave,” he told her but she stood there with her eyes wide open “Leave! Nobody’s going to go after you, you’re free to leave now!” he ran out and left us alone again.

“Go and find Hana” I repeated, “Miyamura Hana, she’ll be happy to see you, she’ll take care of the both of you”

She took Touya and looked at me with weary eyes. I just wanted to hold her one last time, but I stood there.

“Don’t let the stupid heroes catch you,” I said and she nodded before disappearing.

A part of me wished she had ask me to go with them. Now I only had to find that hero traitor. She’ll be fine, I thought, even if we never meet again.

Story of a villain - Epilogue

Goodnight, Dabi stans.

I hope you're all fine because I'm fucking not since yesterday when I found MHA leaks about the finale of the hellish Todorokis. I'm not gonna rant about that (but Horikoshi, when I catch you Horikoshi) but I decided to post the epilogue since I wasn't that wrong about Dabi's ending... and yeah, it destroyed me, it's my fault for getting attached to psychotic characters but what's life without a little drama, am I right? Mmm... I don't have much to say, I had an extended version of the epilogue but I made up my mind, I think epilogues should be shorter than a normal chapter and go straight to the point (which is ending this fucking series) but I had this opened finale and I wanted to keep it that way because, well, I guess I'm a big masochist.

This has around +900 words, and I hope you like it.

Final part

“I can fix him.”

“Hana” I whispered.

“I’m serious, I can, just give me enough time and food and you’ll see, I can… at least like… before this… you know what I mean?”

I shook my head and she sighed. Three years passed since the great war ended in Japan, by now I had around 90% of my memories back, the other 10% was filled with things I wasn’t sure if they were real or just dreams that I had of him. I divorced Geten, and I gave my baby his father’s last name by reaching out the Todorokis. I didn’t want to be a part of their family though; I was just trying to hold onto the last glimpse of his existence in my life.

I touched the glass in front of me as if it was his face, he was dying after good three years tied to a bed, connected to bunch of machines to keep him alive; he was about to die, and I didn’t want to see him like this, but I had to say goodbye.

I didn’t bring our son Touya because I didn’t want him to meet him like this, but I asked Hana to come for emotional support. I took a deep breath and the machine started beeping a little faster.

“What’s that?” I asked terrified.

“It’s his heart rate, I think he’s waking up” Hana said and put her hand on my back.

My heart raced like crazy as he opened his eyes and stared back at us.

“I’ll give you a minute of privacy” Hana murmured and tried to walk away; she only gave two steps when he spoke to her:

“Hana, thank you.”

“Why are you thanking me, asshole?” she turned around with tears rolling down her face like a cascade. “I didn’t do anything for you, you kept yourself alive without my help, you tough shit.”

“You found her” he said, “thank you.”

She cleaned her face with the back of her hands.

“I told you I’d find her, didn’t I? If you would’ve stayed and helped me none of this would’ve happened, I’ll never forgive you!”

“Hana, how dare…?” I was going to reprimand her, but I saw in her eyes that she wasn’t serious. I sighed.

Hana sobbed a little too hard and continued to claim insane shit she’d never say if she wasn’t so hurt:

“Say goodbye and wait for us in the other side, alright? Don’t you dare reborn without us, you little bitch. I’ll be your sister next time, I’ll take better care of you two, I swear.”

“You talk too much” he said and tried to laugh.

“I’ll leave you alone already. We’ll meet again, Touya.”

I looked back at him and put my hands on the glass, I saw past his injuries and the devices; he was still the love of my life.

“I want to touch you” I told him, and his heart rate increased.

“I’m sorry.”

“I don’t know what to say” I admitted.

“Don’t say anything” he said, “just let me see you, your hair’s long now, did you erase your scars?”

I rolled my sleeves up to let him see my clear skin, Hana fixed most of it.

“You’re gorgeous” he whispered, but I heard him.

“I love you, Todoroki Touya.”

“I love you”

Despite the med’s forecast, he seemed fine for now, we had enough time to talk about us, about Touya, and even about his family. He wouldn’t die today, or at least not in front of me. At the end of the day, he told me to never come back, therefore I didn’t and just waited.

I waited for a call, a message or even a letter letting me know that it was over and that he passed away. I lost my appetite and track of time, lacked focus and desire to live, Hana said it was normal since meeting him again brought back some PTSD effects.

“I just want to be okay again” I told myself one night before falling asleep only to wake up in the middle of a deep sleep by my phone’s ringtone and Hana’s rushed steps, she opened the door dramatically as I put the phone on my ear and heard my heart shattering into a million pieces.

Hana sat by my side and hugged me gently.

“He… he said… I’m the love of his life” I bawled, “about a million times. What about my life? Hana, what’s going to happen with my life now?” I wanted to know but she didn’t have an answer, instead she held me tighter and patted my head.

The funeral was the easier part, coming back home with a vessel filled with his ashes felt like carrying the weight of the world. Our Touya was just a baby and didn’t measure reality the way I did, so every time he’d say: “good morning dad”, “good night, dad” or “I’m home, dad” to that vessel, my heart ache a little.

One day, when I arrived after work, Touya was playing in the living room and sneezed so hard he jumped, leaving a trace of blue flames behind and scared the hell out of me.

“Touya?!” I yelled.

“Mom?!” he echoed, he was nowhere to be found, I checked every room. “Mom, I don’t see you.”

Then he screamed terrified, and I felt shivers down my spine, freaked me out.

“Touya, what happened?! What did you see?!”

“Holy shit” that wasn’t my son’s voice, that was a mature and raspy male voice, I ran back to the living room and saw him through some kind of portal. He was holding my son and stared back at me.

He didn’t have any burn marks, but he had some piercings and the same white hair and blue eyes as my son.

“What the fuck?!”
