I think it needs to be said more that fic writers are not there to cater to a particular reader’s interests, and they shouldn’t be expected to. If you find a fic you enjoy, it’s because in that moment your interests overlap with the writer’s, not because they specifically created it for you, and it’s a healthy boundary to keep. Readers shouldn’t get insulted if the writer posts a fic that doesn’t align with their interests or fandoms; it’s not meant as a personal slight or anything, it’s just the writer writing for themselves, the way they’ve been doing all along.
It’s really easy to get invested in a fic or a writer and feel close to them because of it, or to have a lot of interests that align with a writer’s and make assumptions about how a fic is going to go/what they’re going to write because of it, but…not everything is for you specifically, and learning that makes things easier for everyone involved. It’s not a slight, and it’s not an insult. It’s just the Venn diagram of fandom and interests overlapping in some places but not others.
It took me too long to realize that not all the world is my enemy
A version of Maria that survived to adulthood in a dimension where Shadow doesn't exist? I'm sure that won't affect Shadow's self image at all
OH MY GOD
There will come the time, that I won't remember the names of my first and truest friends and truly- I believe that that is the day, that you lose the part of yourself that still wants to believe in Peter Pan.
We all know Farrah sings the “promise that you won’t forget me, someone’s got to hold on to me” line in Move On. This is likely a figment of Annleigh’s grief, but I’m going to interpret it as Farrah actually speaking to Annleigh. Farrah isn’t scared of people forgetting about her; how could they, after what happened? She’s scared that people (especially Annleigh) will just remember her as a drunk, and not a 15 year old girl who needed help. She’s scared of people forgetting who she really was, beneath all the booze. She needs somebody to hold onto who she really was
And you know what? They do forget who she really was. They remember her as a drunk, and Annleigh doesn’t exactly say no when Cairo asked if Farrah deserved what she got. Cairo even says anybody who met Farrah could’ve easily killed her.
That’s what Farrah was so desperately afraid of. She died alone in a bathroom, right after taking the first step to recovery. But nobody will ever know that. Nobody will remember the Farrah that wanted to get better. She died believing everyone hated her.
Sorry for the very angsty analysis.
Publicly here involves anything that anyone in a broader community can see without having to join, say, a discord server. You can be more specific in the tags. If your answer would change based on which fandom or community the fic belongs to, vote for the option that best reflects the community most open to public criticism of an author's work.
Still doing requests/suggestions
I really like doing these gijinkas, and if there are any other beloved cartoon characters you'd like me to humanize ( or just draw in my style) I'm still open :)
