One of my favorite universes of the marvel world is Larval Earth, ya know, where everyone is a cartoony animal? Like how I mentioned Green Gobbler and Doctor Octopussy cat in an older post (still think those two would make a super cute ship) but I think, if I were in charge of the comic, there would be a few characters who's animal form I would change or a diffrent animal that I think would also fit them well.
This may or may not become a post series, we'll see how this first post goes.
Alright, so let's start with one of my favorite characters; Bruce Banner.
In the current Larval earth series, he's portrayed as a rabbit/bunny. Called Bruce Bunny and Hulk is simply Hulk-bunny. I think this animal choice is fine as it is and I love how this universe made a rabbit absolutely terrifying and strong. So this isn't change I would absolutely want, but like I mentioned, an animal I would think would also fit well as Bruce.
My choice? A Kangaroo. Specifically, an Eastern Grey Kangaroo.
Why I think this could be cool: I don't know why, but I've always kinda saw Bruce as a kangaroo. Because, like bunnies, they are quiet cute and soft looking. And they are typically calm animals unless startled or faced with confrontation.
And plus, have you ever seen how buff kangaroos can get? So if he were to hulk out as a kangaroo, being all muscle wouldn't look that odd. And plus, Hulk hops around a lot to get around, which could explain another trait of being a rabbit, but it could also make sense for being a kangaroo. They are know to hop up to speeds of 35 miles an hour and can jump 25 feet in a single leap.
Bruce is a character that would much rather solve things calmly and in a scientific way, so if things get harry, he can easily get away. But post gamma incident, Hulk would be using those leaps and kicks to make mini tremors around him.
That's another thing; fighting.
I can see Hulk leaning back on his tail to deliver and fierce kick to a tank. As a roo, he has to rely more on his legs and feet than his hands and Arms, like as I mentioned in creating tremors by jumping and maybe even using his tail to smash things as well. though he could still use them, kangaroos actually have quiet sharp claws.
Another thing I could see happening to both Bruce and hulk is, because this is a cartoony world, they could have a pouch. Since older cartoons are known for not being totally accurate in animal biology, such as sometimes showing anteaters with two mouths instead of one and portraying their actual mouths as weird noses with their tongue then I could totally see Bruce/Hulk having a pouch while still being a male.
plus, for all the angst lovers, it could be seen as a deformity which Bruce is incredible self conscious about and tries to hide because his dad also use to beat on him for having that defect and looking like a girl/freak.
Meanwhile Hulk uses it to protect his friends and get them to safety. And maybe even using it to store things he finds pretty like shiny rocks or trinkets. And Bruce kinda hates that when he turns back there's a bunch of rocks in his pouch, (and one time a very cramped and confused Rick Jones, who I picture as a jerboa)
Since I know Red Hulk/Ross is also a rabbit he would have to be changed to a kangaroo, but a red kangaroo instead.
As for name changes, since the characters names reflect what animal they are, that's a bit tricky. The best I could come up with is Bruce Hopper, and then for Hulk, Kanga-Hulk or Hulkaroo. And Red could be Redroo.
But that's the end of my idea! Again I am totally fine with the animals these characters are now, Hulk-Bunny is one of my favorite Larval earth characters, so this was just an idea/my take!
Though, there are some characters I would definitely change, but that's a post for another day!
