I just had a small epiphany why you might like other people's art more than your own:
It's the lack of suspension of disbelief.
When you see something someone else has drawn or painted, you take in the content faster than you take in the technical aspects. You experience it as pseudo-real, the same way you stop perceiving animated characters as drawn or book characters as written as you get into the story.
On the other hand, when you yourself have made something, all you see is the machine behind the theater, so to speak. You're probably thinking about lines, shading, coloring in a "does this make sense? Is this the best decision I could have made?"-kind of way.
I think that's also why sometimes, pictures you haven't looked at for a long time starts looking nice to you again, à la: "Hey past-me was unto something! Why can't I replicate it nowadays?". It's probably specifically because you've forgotten the process of making it that you are now seeing it with fresh eyes.
Art is an illusion, but a magician has a hard time tricking themself. So don't be so hard on yourself: it's probably just that you can't see the magic right now, but that doesn't mean it's not there.
In my opinion, posts should be difficult. They should challenge the reader. They should be confusing, and stupid.
GUYS. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.
WRITE. just START WRITING. it’s gonna be super painful for the first few hundred words or so, and your concentration is gonna be super fragile, but after that it should get easier and you should get into the flow of it!!
obviously i can’t say for certain that this’ll work for everybody, but please try it. go sit down, set a goal, and WRITE. for me rn my goal is at least 500 words, but you could edit that number to be higher or lower, or just go on time writing instead.
the more you write, the easier it should get. as an autistic person, i suffer from executive dysfunction, and it is sooo hard to get writing done. you kinda just have to brute force it at first and then it should get easier.
let me know if this was in any way helpful!!
Matt Murdock is the type of guy to have an entire piano fall on him because he got distracted by something and then he pokes his head out from the top to have cartoon birds and stars spinning around his head while he goes "Well at least it can't get any worse." before an anvil gets dropped onto his head with a loud BANG sound.
do i dare suggest ??? zayn’s song coming out two hours before niall’s show?? feels sus??
So, FYI you guys, sometimes if you go to your favorite writers and flail at them a lot about how much you love their fics with lots of specific examples, they will let you read thousands of words of their unpublished WIPs and you can flail even more. Also sometimes after that you get to be friends, too, and help them come up with ideas. And vice versa! This is pretty much the best thing in the world and it is called fandom.
Trials of Apollo fanfiction writers, to Lester: You are so Squishy.
Lester: What?
Trials of Apollo fanfiction writers: I want to Squish you like a big stress ball until your ribs break and throw your head against the Smoldering Hot Concrete to see if you bounce.
Lester: WHAT

Snufkin (from Moomins) is Karelian!
I think being an ultra fan predisposes you to be into robo shows like tf. If u can tell Jack and Man apart or seven and seven and seven then surely identifying any one of like ten billion seekers solely by part of their color scheme isn't an issue at all.
