ok so one thing no one tells you about re-reading your older work is that there’s this point where the writing moves so far beyond you that you can just read it like a fan but you wrote it but it doesn’t feel like it so you get to experience this content you wrote because you liked it and finally go oh yeah I did a good thing here & it’s even more special when it’s work you hated because the passing years remove the veneer of self-hatred that once existed for that writing and that writer & now all you’re left with is gold
