Okay but Asha definitely has Putt Putt trollings trying to hide in her hair. The floof is both a blessing and a curse.

Asha headcanons because I said so

- Is that one relative who will spew the most unhinged shit at family gatherings

- Has most definitely tripped over her own hair before. Will never admit it.

- Sleeps anywhere except her bed

- Her hair is poofy because of: A, her genes. B, Viva constantly braiding it.

- Speaking of braids, trying to get Asha to do anything with her hair is like putting a feral cat in a bath.

- Hates podcasts. Sees it as the cheap copy to the masterpiece that is radio. Grumbles to herself in the background as Bruce listens to true crime podcasts.

- Also hates media in general if it isn't radio. In her eyes, TV is fake. The radio is where it's at.

There's a thought that's been in my head since I created Asha.

What would Asha's reaction to finding out Peppy never told Poppy about her and Viva be?

Y'know when you hear something you don't like but instead of immediately lashing out in rage you're just...numb? Like you're angry but on the outside you look calm? Way too calm? Yeah. That's Asha's reaction. It'd kinda go like this:

*dry chuckle* "What do you mean he never told you about us? He didn't just assume we were dead...right?"

Her tone in the above dialogue is rather neutral. Too neutral. Menacingly neutral with a little bit of bite when she says "...right?". Asha prides herself in being unpredictable and unreadable. When she asks if Peppy assumed she and Viva died during the escape, that's code for "ain't no way he made the entire tribe believe we were dead for the past 20 years". She's angry that her tribe made a silent agreement to forget she and her older sister ever existed but she's trying not to show it. Her chuckling before speaking could be interpreted as a warning.

To add insult to injury, Asha was just 15 during the escape. She was a teenager. You bet she vividly remembers huddling in a corner of Hole N' Fun mumbling to herself that everything was fine and surely her dad was looking for her. Imagine finding out that not only your own father but your whole tribe found it easier to assume you were dead rather than at least hope you survived. In fact, it reminds me of a verse from Drift Away from SU.

"You keep on turning pages, for people who don't care,

So yeah. She doesn't take finding out that Poppy didn't know about her as well as Viva seems to.

Asha's relationship with Branch

- She's definitely on Branch conspiracy board 💀

- Frenemies, I'd say. They'd have a civil conversation then proceed to bicker with each other.

- Poppy's scary dog privileges.

I plan on developing on this further because I don't know how to explain it as of now but here's some incorrect quotes:

Asha's relationship with Poppy

Complicated. The last time Asha saw Poppy was when she was a baby. They don't really know much about eachother and Asha isn't keen on opening up. Asha appears to be distant with Poppy because she genuinely doesn't know how to talk to her. She also knows that Poppy has a lot of questions about that night 20 years ago... questions Asha doesn't want to answer. She knows she can't shut Poppy out forever but how do you talk to your own sister who didn't know you existed until you just so happened to cross paths 20 years later...? Asha would also feel a sense of melancholy around Poppy. She reminds her too much of herself before she lost her colours and became the "Radio Troll" she is now. To Asha, Poppy is everything she lost in those tunnels. Both literally and metaphorically.

In case you noticed in my fic (chapter 4), Viva quickly loses her colors but quickly recovers them. I kind of thought of an explanation for this, and with that a headcanon that explains Branch's color inconsistency in the films.

[CW: references/analogy/mentions to depression]

So, when a troll goes through something that makes them feel depressed (like losing a loved one) they may lose their color (which would symbolize their hope and happiness), but the colors may come back when they feel happier.

But that won't make them colorful all the time, depending on their level of happiness and depression they will be more gray or more in color.

There are two situations in which this happens, the troll can lose their colors completely, becoming gray, but this does not mean that this is permanent, on the contrary, they can recover their color when they pretend to be happy, becoming "color shifters".

The second situation is exactly what I said, and it's exactly what Viva does in my AU, she maintains her color for her people, a troll without color is unusual and for many unacceptable, and as queen she does everything to keep her color, and only lose them when she remembers the loss of her father and the pain she still feels.

As a result, they don't "cure" themselves by finding something that makes them "happier", they still feel emotional pain and constantly lose their colors, but they don't lose their colors forever, instead their colors become more desaturated.

This was a quick explanation of how colors represent depression in Trolls, you can use this as an interpretation of how Branch recovers his colors but keeps changing colors during the films depending on how he feels, and as a narrative explanation for the desaturation of Alive.

TWT Theory: Mixed Race and Ancestry

Mixed Race Trolls:

Shared features and colours

Hooves, long necks, glowing skin, wings, etc. transferring to the children

For example, Brendon Urie is pop rock. His body colour might be bright and shiny like a Pop troll, but he would have the dark patches around his eyes that the Rock trolls have. His style would be flashy and accessorized but in a way that reflects Pop and Rock. (This style is based on his I Write Sins Not Tragedies outfit.)

In the case of Big Smo’, he’s a Country Rapper with the self-designated genre of Hick-Hop. To mix a Country troll with a Funk troll, he’d have to be tall with a long neck but have hooves and the fashion sense of a Country troll. 

Vestige Trolls

Ancestors to the current genres and ancient kings/queens of the Troll Kingdom.

Think the Avatars or the Ancestors from the Mulan movie.

These two shown here are the designs for the King of Rock and King of Pop, Elvis and Michael Jackson. Their style may have created the beginnings of the music we know now, but they’re a lot different and would be considered almost ancient to the current generation of Trolls. Direct descendants of these kings and queens are still around, but the main bloodlines have been distilled and/or ended at some point in history. 

Vestige trolls provide the background harmonies you hear when the current king or queen is singing or playing music.

TWT Theory: Cooper

It makes sense that Cooper is the one that helped bring music back into the world. He is the best of two worlds: Pop and Funk. The fact that his heartbeat inspired his brother first out of everyone else that was there feeds on the connection between the two twins.

Through his soul searching journey, he found his heart in more than one place making him the bridge that connected the world of Trolls.

Headcanons and details I noticed in Trolls!

TROLL ANATOMY

Troll tongues are the same/a similar color to their noses. Their gums and mouths are similar colors to their skin. On a morbid note, this means there’s a possibility that whatever internal organs they have are also colorful.

Trolls have sparkly/rainbow blood. This is probably just a gag/censorship joke but it isn’t a far-fetched idea.

POWERS/SPECIAL ABILITIES

Trolls can use music as a force. In Trolls 3, they use the Family Harmony to break the diamond. In Trolls 2, the Rock trolls can destroy things and hurt people with their music. Queen Essence seems to create a wave/boom using a tuba. Chaz uses his Jazz to hypnotize people and make them hallucinate. Trolls may also have the ability to use music to fight. In a deleted scene from Trolls 2, the Classical trolls and Rock trolls fight using their instruments and voices. In another deleted scene, the Yodelers cause a building to fall apart by yodeling.

Trolls have special adaptations to their specific kingdoms. Rock trolls are heat resistant to combat the fact they live in a VOLCANO. Techno trolls have fins and glow to become more visible in dark water. Country trolls are tough, built for long distance running and work. Pop trolls have advanced hair manipulation to navigate and hide in trees. Classical trolls have wings to safely travel in the mountains/clouds. And idk about Funk trolls💀 But Sub-genres are probably adaptable to most situations.

TROLL REPRODUCTION

Trolls can reproduce sexually and asexually. When 2 different trolls reproduce, the resulting offspring will share traits from both parents. Asexual reproduction results in offspring that have extremely similar traits to the parent or a total clone. Both female and male trolls can produce and incubate eggs. Reproduction can happen from physical contact😏 AND/OR extreme feelings of love/connection. The extreme feeling can be for a partner or just a feeling in general. This would explain how Bruce and Brandy were able to hybridize so well despite being different sizes and species. Guy Diamond mentions how he, “Didn’t know his heart could be so full.” I interpret this as Tiny Diamond coming from the love inside his father’s heart.

EFFECT ON OTHERS

Different trolls have different tastes and effects. As we know, Pop trolls, (when eaten), make the user very happy. But what do they taste like? I imagine they would be overwhelmingly sweet, like candy or cake fondant. Rock trolls would have a spice or bitterness to them and give the user a feeling of aggressiveness or hype. (Kinda like steroids💀). Classical trolls would be buttery and sweet and make the user feel satisfaction or bliss. Techno trolls would taste sweet and sour/citrusy and give the user a major energy boost/sugar rush. Country trolls would taste savory or smoky like BBQ or a home-cooked meal, giving the user a feeling of coziness or nostalgia. Funk trolls would have a mainly tangy/sweet flavor with an underlying spice. The user would feel a general feeling of liveliness or fun.

Trolls 3 introduces more exploitation of trolls in the form of talent stealing. Velvet and Veneer use Floyd to sing Pop music. I imagine that using a troll of a different genre gives the user talent and musical ability in that trolls genre.
