WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?

I want to visit the place where it all began.

Soooo... I have a Tumblr now.  Suddenly, all the witty & wild things I had to say have flown away.  Here, have a picture of this good looking guy I've seen in the movies:

Okay, but 'three apples high,' hmmm?  (And what type of apples?  Crab or Fiji?)

Hello, My Name is windsweptarmadillo, and I am a...

Hiddlestoner.  (The first step to recovery is realizing you have a problem.)  But I don't even want to recover!!  This IS a piece of my recovery from something else entirely...

I'm not sure I can explain why I started this blog.  It wasn't to go all Hiddlesilly, though, that is certain.  (Sure feels nice, though.  Beats artificial chemical alteration of my brain chemistry.)  Yeah, thanks to Tom's advice, I gave myself permission to do what I want, not feel guilty about my pleasures, and dance more.  Advice - now that is dangerous stuff.  Proceed with caution when taking - it is like stepping out your front door as a hobbit.

This wasn’t my question, but it’s the answer that got to me.  I knew there was a reason for the blogs I follow, my seemingly insane fangirling, and just the general arse-over-tea-kettle spin my life has taken in the last month or so.  (Can’t find the tea kettle, don’t think I even have one, but I sure land on my arse with regularity!)

Excavating my authentic self, like a dog who loves nothing more than to dig up the yard in search of more places & things to dig.  Makes for a bizarre sort of archeology.

Miss things! I sometimes catch myself daydreaming of Mr Tom. I find that it is getting tiresome and I feel annoyed with myself. I'm married with two kids so I really ought not to be so enamoured with a totally unattainable man I can't have at all. It's all so frustrating! I wish I could flip a switch and turn it off but no. Thanks to tumblr my everyday existence is painful. Haaaalp? And no I'm not leaving this place and yes I do sort of enjoy the frustration. x

Hmm… My advice might be counterintuitive but I would say, pay attention to what the Tom-love is doing for you that you aren’t getting in your real daily life. For example, when I first started fangirling I had this huge need to write and express myself artistically, and I also had a need for poetry and romance and sweet sweet lovin that I wasn’t getting enough of at the time. Fangirling helped me recognize my desire and then translate that into action, and a lot of my life operates better now because my desire went from my subconscious to my conscious mind.

What does daydreaming do for you? What do you need that you don’t have? When you are able to start effecting change in your own life to get what you want, the fangirling abates a little (just a little, though.. Tom in all his incarnations is a heady cocktail) and sort of subsides into its proper place. If you’re relatively new to Hiddlestoning, you might possibly have a bit of a hill ahead of you on the road. Pedal fast and don’t deny that you have yearning locked away there somewhere. I would be willing to bet that your daydreaming is nudging you toward something you need to pursue or consider in your own life.

In other words: don’t try to subdue it or get rid of it. Instead, listen to what it’s telling you. If there is a path of self-discovery ahead of you, you are not alone — there’s a huge cohort of lovely women who come awake and alive through fangirling, and are working to become their best selves, and they are fun and intelligent and amazing and full of wisdom, and they’re all right here.

xx

75 notes & reblogs, likes & comments.  My confession rocks.  And I earned a "what" tag, which is slightly better than the "wut" hashtag.  Hooray for me!

It seems to me that Loki only needed the helmet in “Thor” to balance out his swingin’ cod.  The leather and metal in TDW kept it reasonably under wraps

This post can be used to build up your tolerance to his gaze (so you don't end up a blithering idiot when you finally meet him), or as a torture device.  I'm gonna use it to practice not fainting or flinching or giggling or attacking.  Forget certification in Stage Combat - I'm going for Keeping My Cool Allure in the Face of THIS FACE & his EYES OF SEX!!  (music fades in: "Dream the impossible dream..." from The Man of La Mancha.)

This post was the worst idea I have ever had. Even worse than the Dom!Tom post.

A very special thanks to Loki_Page for letting me use her edits!

I just wanna call him "Kitty Cat" because of that thing he does with his tongue.  Crazy-making.  Somebody help me out & come up with a matching cat photo where the cat's tongue does this, pretty please?

Yesterday. 17 June 2014. Nutshell.

Rainy day in Dallas, 68 degrees F. Listening to Best of #Yiruma - makes me feel like I'm in a HayaoMiyazaki film.

Hmm, maybe in My Neighbor Tortoro (I occasionally see soot sprites in my apartment, out of the corner of my eye, and sometimes I feel like the ill mother), or maybe Howl's Moving Castle (doing my hand-stitch mending feels like Sophie spiffing up the hats, and I clean like a madwoman when I'm upset sometimes).  Haven't seen Arietty yet.

I need to stop being lazy & learn how to spell that temperature scale that isn't Centigrade, Celsius, or Kelvin. :P

73 degrees F here in Dallas, TX & overcast.  I do so understand feeling super hot, because, Texas.  OMG I LOVE THAT YOU HAVE A TORTOISE!  Sorry, I just get uncontrollably excited about some things. ;)  Have you read Roald Dahl's children's book Esio Trot?  If not, you must.  I insist & you will love it.  Find the one with the illustrations by Quentin Blake - classic!  These things (garden tortoises & Roald Dahl) are two of my British loves, I'm sure you can guess at least one other.

At the moment I'm writing this post, which has interrupted  Day 2 of Project: Untangle the Not-Thin But Not-Thick Black Thread That Used to Edge the Green Blanket That Is Now My Son's Hooded Cloak (My son, henceforth known as Bugbear, is too tall to be a Dwarf or a Hobbit [and he's only 7!] but too short to be a Ranger or Elf, but the "cloak" is a soft Hunter Green throw, and he looks like a true adventurer, so bold.  I love my kid! [Hehehehe - kid means "baby goat" :P - appropro or nothin'. ]), so I sit by the window listening to Yiruma & I focus on a piece of minutiae.

I found one end of the thread yesterday & started the detangle process, winding the thread around a folded toilet paper roll.  I only came across two true knots - the rest is mostly just kinks & tangles.  Today I found the other end & tied it with a slipknot around a bead, so I can work from that end, back to where a knot has trapped the thread.

Why?  'Cause I want to.  Makes me feel good.

Why? Mental health reasons. I'm having a frenetic state of being at the moment.  Something that takes a focus, like untangling this thread does, will tether my brain so it doesn't fly off, get lost, & not come home for weeks.  Listening to Yiruma helps foster a sense of calm & serenity that keeps my brain from straining at it's tether, letting the brain just float like a helium-filled balloon.

Oh my goodness, this post is starting to sound coherent.  I hope this post helps someone make sense of what it may take for a person to cope with being in a manic state (for example, when someone has a bipolar diagnosis and is on one of their "ups" or "highs" - the "manic" part of the obsolete term "manic-depressive").  I'll talk about depression some other time.

I am boldly inspired by Jenny Lawson aka The Bloggess and many other fine folk; the "stigma" part of the mental health discourse simply must be Dalek-focus EXTERMINATEd!  So I'm doing my part to talk about it - in my way, with my POV, my first-hand experience, my second-hand experience, my educated knowledge, my similes & metaphors abounding, and my sense of humor.

"Life is like a simile, but metaphor IS life" -  words of Lisa L. Swanson.

And, as Mindy from Animaniacs used to say, "Okay, I love you, buh-bye!"

Hello lovelies! I’m aware the temperature here in England is nothing compared to the temperature in a lot of places, but it feels super hot to me and my pathetic English skin. I’m enjoying it while I can, sitting on my back step with my tortoise, although she seems to be hiding from the sun at the moment. What’s everyone else doing this fine day?
