I'll go with Renn Atrius from Song of Thorns.

Were you named after anyone?

"I'm not sure. My parents weren't that close to their respective relatives, due to a myriad of reasons - the main one being that my maternal grandparents are vampire hunters, and my father was a vampire. You can imagine how uncomfortable the family meetings were. Dad said my name means 'honesty, love or benevolence' - I think it's a pretty great name."

When was the last time you cried?

"Hmm. I'm not sure to be honest. It was probably a while ago - I occasionally have nightmares about... well an incident, in my past. Those dreams do make me cry most times, but they have been few and far between lately, which is good."

Do you have any kids?

"None. I'm pretty young still for a dhampir - my current age is equivalent to 18 in human years, so I'm basically still a kid myself - and regardless, I've been too busy not being hunted by the people who want me dead and trying to rebel against the King to even consider something like that. I probably won't for a long time."

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

"Yes, all the time! Especially when I'm trying to annoy that fancypants asshat of a prince I have to travel with. That is priceless."

What is the first thing you notice about people?

"Let's see (starts listing the following with his fingers): if they're a Hunter, if they work for my psychopath of a grandfather, if they're another stupid villager ready to call a mob with torches and pitchforks to go after yours truly, and so on and so forth... There's a lot to consider when you're in my shoes. Other than that, I guess I try to notice their demeanor, a bit of their personality, and whether or not I'd like to waste my time talking to them."

What is your eye color?

"Light greyish brown, like my mother's. When I use my vampiric powers, my eyes glow a bright red, like blood but glowing like two little lanterns."

Scary movies or happy endings?

"Happy endings. I don't like the feeling of fear that much and the world is already horrifying enough for me to subject myself to more scares while reading fiction. Ha, if I wanted to endure something scary, I'd just have to tell a random villager I'm half-vampire or go out into the cursed woods alone. Happy endings are honestly my favorite thing about some books - they show us that no matter how bleak things may seem, there can be a brighter future ahead."

Any special talents?

"It depends. I'm a great swordfighter, have perfect aim with my bow and arrow, and am very agile - after my family was betrayed I survived mostly as a thief stealing from corrupt humans, so I had to learn how to climb things and be silent, which are also talents I consider special. Oh, and I can turn into either a giant bat or a really tiny one - transforming into a giant bat is easier and lasts for a longer period of time! My Dad taught me how to."

Where were you born?

"I was born in my family's manor in the vampiric lands, where I lived with my Dad until he was killed by a Hunter when I was around five years old, during a diplomatic visit to my human grandfather's lands."

Do you have any pets?

"Yes, I have a pet raven called Cornelius. I call him Corn for short! He's a little crazy bastard of a bird and I love his chaotic energy, haha."

What sort of sports do you play?

"I'm pretty active. I'm constantly running, climbing things, and fighting people who try to hurt me, so I guess that counts, plus I often fly around in my bat form, which is a great exercise for the arms (as they're my wings when I'm in my bat form). I also practice archery and sword fighting quite frequently!"

How tall are you?

"I'm honestly not sure. Probably 5.9ft. So around 179 centimeters? I think. I haven't had time to really measure my height if I'm being honest, haha."

What was your favorite subject in school?

"I was born a noble, so I would have had private tutors teach me instead of going to a traditional school like humans do - fey don't really do institutions like that, and learning from tutors and parents is the custom in vampiric and fey lands. But my Dad died when I was five - so I was orphaned and had to learn to survive on the run since the Hunters also wanted to kill me. I didn't really have that chance. Before that, it was my father who taught me how to read, write, and draw. He also used to teach me a lot about vampiric history and botany. When we visited my mother in the human lands she taught me a bit about sewing."

What is your dream job?

"I'm not sure. I would love to be an adventurer and help people whom the kingdom has forsaken, but I'm not sure if that counts as a job traditionally. If I manage to aid others during my lifetime in any way and make the world a better place than it was before, even if just a little bit, then that's enough for me."

Pastels and Eraser, for the ask game!

Thank you so much @rosesonneptune! I'll answer this for some of the cast of Song of Thorns and Supernova Initiative!

Pastels: Give me three colors that best represent your OC. Now give me three colors that your OC likes best. Is there an overlap?

(Song of Thorns)

Renn Atrius:

Colors that best represent Renn: I would say that the colors that best represent him are Dark Red, Off-White, and Charcoal Black to be specific. As for what those colors symbolize in his case: dark red is tied to his vampiric heritage, as it is a color that is evocative of blood and sanguine stuff, as well as symbolizes bravery, anger (revenge), and willpower, it is also the color of his father's sigil/off-white is a color that is tied to symbolism like neutrality and elegance, which are both attributes that fit Renn very well, and is the color his hair starts changing to once he starts training with ancient blood magic/charcoal black a color that is evocative of nocturnal things and the night as a whole, which is also the color of most bats - thus being rather fitting to a vampiric character - charcoal black specifically is also tied to ashes and embers and could potentially symbolize starting anew from the ruins of his past.

His favorite colors: Renn doesn't really care about this, but what could be considered his favorite colors are bright purple, faded gold, and dark red. So there's an overlap with the dark red color!

Kane Mylestrom:

Colors that best represent Kane: Tarnished silver, dark grey, and reddish brown (like copper or rust). As for what those colors symbolize in his case: silver Is a color usually associated with wealth, glamour and focus, which are all things Kane aspires to have (and thus is a reflection of his cocky/arrogant and power-seeking personality); but tarnished silver specifically is tied to the fact that he is essentially living a lie/illusion and slowly losing his true self in the process - and since silver is traditionally considered a mirror to the soul, much like mirrors (which used to be made of silver in olden times), one could say that tarnished silver also reflects his personal feelings of self-loathing and fear of imperfection, which he tries to conceal with his larger-than-life persona and deeds, but ends up falling short of that. Dark grey is tied to the symbolism of seriousness and inflexibility, while reddish brown/rust is a milder variation of the usual red but still holds meanings of bravery, anger, and strength while being more faded and having a similar symbolism to the tarnished silver.

His favorite colors: His favorite colors are dark blue, deep gold, and crimson. There isn't really an overlap, but most of his clothes during his daily life are dark gray.

Elveryn Haven:

Colors that best represent Elveryn: The colors that truly present Elveryn the best so far are pitch black and bright red. He is a character that is trapped in a cycle of grief - as an older brother who believes his younger brother was killed by vampires and who blames himself for it - anger, and revenge against all creatures he considers "monsters", so pitch black (the color of sorrow, grief, nighttime, and also tied to vengeance) and bright red (a color tied to wrath, mercilessness/ruthlessness and strength of will), as well as revenge) fit him well. And since he hunts vampires, it is fitting/kind of ironic that his most characteristic colors are also a palette that is typically connected to vampiric beings. It was tough to me to think of a third color that fit him quite as well, but eventually settled on dark lilac, like the flower Wolfsbane. The wolfsbane flower is tied to symbolism such as misanthropy (dislike of others, which is a pretty strong trait of Elveryn), danger (Elveryn is a very dangerous and often ruthless hunter, even to his own detriment), and has a strong tie to folklore. Plus Wolfsbane is poisonous, so one could draw a link to the saying that revenge is "like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die", which fits Elveryn's rage arc quite well.

His favorite colors: His favorite colors are olive green, light blue and dark purple. A bit of an overlap/similarity between dark purple and dark lilac, but not really lmao.

(Supernova Initiative)

Deimos Soll:

Colors that best represent Deimos: Those colors would be blue (both dark blue like deep space and light blue, like his skin), neon pink, and black. As for what they symbolize in his case: blue is a color tied to the symbolism of freedom (which is something Deimos actively pursues and desperately wants), loyalty (despite his tendencies to over practicality and a silver tongue, he is deeply loyal to the few true friends he has) and sorrow (which could be tied to his past - during which he ended up tortured by a mad general who wanted him to join her army as her brainwashed servant - and current traumas), it is also a color tied to meanings of sincerity, efficiency, coldness, tranquility and trust, all attributes fitting of this character. In the case of neon pink, it is a futuristic color but is also the same color as the serums and poisons he was injected with during that general's attempts to turn him into a super soldier. Black is the color of revenge, efficiency, introvertedness, and power, traits Deimos has throughout his arc - it is also tied to meanings of mystery and secrets.

His favorite colors: His favorite colors are pastel purple, light grey, and turquoise.

Vesper Foxx:

Colors that best represent her: Those colors are bright green, neon blue, and pitch black. Bright green is often connected to the symbolism of poisons/illness, radiation, and envy - which one could draw a connection to her vengeful tendencies and extremely deadly nature that leaves no surviving enemies in her wake. Pitch Black for the same reasons as Elveryn (the color of sorrow, grief, anger, nighttime and also revenge). Neon blue mostly because she is a cyborg that is more machine than human and it generally fits her vibe lmao!

Her favorite colors: She has no favorite colors🙃 . (Actually, Vesper will never admit it because she has a "bloodthirsty assassin" reputation to upkeep but her favorite color is secretly pastel pink)

Eraser: what's one way this character has changed over time? Either over the course of their story, or over the course of designing them as an author.

(Supernova Initiative)

There are a few characters that changed quite a lot during the time I was developing the story and creating the character arcs (as in they were originally supposed to be a certain type of character but eventually ended up as a very different one).

Jack Tithus: He didn't change that much, but his name did. Originally his name was supposed to be Jesse, but since I have another MC (from Mutant Inquiries) named Jesse, I decided to change that name. That's when I came up with his new name [redacted because it's a spoiler] which is Jack for short. It was a great change and also works for the plot since there's a reason why his name is a secret and why he only uses his nickname.

Vesper Foxx: This is the character that changed the most throughout the development of the story! Originally, Vesper was a character much similar to Pax Stellaryn currently - a young cadet/spy with a good heart and a spirit of adventure. However, I felt that something was missing from this character, and decided to scrap her original concept completely and create a whole new character from scratch. So, after a bit of workshopping, Vesper became the ruthless cyborg assassin searching for revenge that we now know her to be!

(Song of Thorns)

Many characters from this book remained the same from the first concept to the first draft, but there is one that did change quite a bit during the process of development: Elveryn Haven. Originally he wasn't going to be a monster hunter seeking revenge on vampires, but a vampire prince seeking revenge on humans (in both concepts he lost a sibling in a tragic way and wants revenge). However, since I've already got quite a few vampiric characters in the main cast, I considered that a reverse POV - from the perspective of a hunter, who would be the nemesis of the cast - and would create both an interesting moral dilemma but also a good opportunity for a Redemption Arc for Elveryn.

I was inspired by this amazing post by @mk-writes-stuff, and decided to make a few of my own with my WIPs characters! I'll go with Song of Thorns, Supernova Initiative, Of Starlight and Beasts and Enchanted Illusions because I had free time and hyperfocus lmao! Let's go!

Augustus & Harriet (Enchanted Illusions)

Aaah, my lovelies! Augustus, the book's resident necromancer, and Harriet, our lovely weirdo. They've got a little blood splashed onto their faces, probably as a result of a battle they've just won, but they don't mind (he is a necromancer and she has seen some stuff, why would they mind lmao?)

Renn & Roselyn (Song of Thorns)

They're adorable and I love them with all my heart, Your Honor, lmao. Renn is a half-vampire fey who was born a noble and became a thief due to unfortunate circumstances, and Roselyn is his sweetheart who is a spirited girl ready to defeat the King.

Elveryn & Cadenza (Song of Thorns)

The Monster Hunter who fell in love with an Elven Fey and both of them had a redemption arc. Technically his hair isn't white (Kane's is, not his) but a very pale shade of blond that the picrew didn't have, and he actually wears precision goggles instead of glasses, but you get the idea!

Tarrant & Aiden (Song of Thorns)

Tarrant (the one with red hair), the Silver Snake, and his lover Aiden (they/he), with whom he has a secret love story (which is a secret he has to keep hidden lest endanger Aiden because of his employer). Somewhat-starcrossed lovers with a dash of them being two angsty fools who are bad at communication lmao.

Jasen & Prince Alaric (Song of Thorns)

The Prince (Alaric) and the Pauper (Jasen), essentially! Again, Alaric's hair is actually a shade between dark auburn and dark blond, but I couldn't find it in the picrew so I went with the next best thing. They haven't had a chance to really kiss in the story but have been pining (without being aware that the feeling is mutual because they sure as heck are bad at reading emotions lmao.) for over a year, and really want to have that chance!

Jack & Lyorna (Supernova Initiative)

Once more, lol, Jack's hair is actually not this shade - he is red-haired, but his hair color is more of a natural auburn than this - but regardless! Lyorna is a young freedom fighter from an alien planet in the Khosmonian galaxies, and they meet during Jack's mission there and fell in love! They are adorable and stubborn.

Deimos & Vesper (Supernova Initiative)

ENEMIES TO LOVERS Y'ALL!!! Actually it's more of a Rivals-to-lovers situation lmao, but still. The Sniper and the Assassin. The Alien and the Cyborg. Both incredibly efficient at what they do, they initially annoyed each other to no end and were infuriated at the prospect of having to work together, but slowly, oh so slowly, started to care for each other and eventually fell in love, begrudgingly lmao.

Arammys & Corah (Of Starlight and Beasts)

The Mage and the Knight! Friends to Lovers! Arammys meets Corah by accident after losing his memories, and the duo embarks on a fateful quest to save the continent from a warmongering queen and break an ancient prophecy, after she (Corah) learns of the land's fate.

(Arammys hai is actually golden but I didn't find the option!)

🧶 - Do they do any arts, crafts, or creative hobbies?

Jack Tithus - He is terrible at drawing, and never really had time to practice, however, in his spare time sometimes Jack does scrapbooking and he also knows how to play the electric guitar, though he hasn't played music in a while.

Renn Atrius - Renn loves making art, especially drawing. He has a travel sketchbook and pencil case he takes with him at all times. His all-time favorite things to draw are flowers, studies of mythical beings and portraits of his friends.

Augustus Grimmure - Augustus considers necromancy and forbidden magic as an art, and dedicates his time to perfecting it to help others. He also knows how to play the piano quite well.

Lyorna Quarr - Lyorna makes sculptures out of recycled materials for fun - her sculptures look like tiny action figures and cute collectibles. She also makes DIY jewelry.

🐺 - How does this OC deal with solitude?

Jack Tithus - Um. Not well, to say the least. Jack is the type of extrovert who needs to be around people, talking and having fun, to feel at peace and recharge. He also devotes a lot of his life to others and only feels "useful" when he's helping someone. Being alone for too long just makes him anxious and quite depressive, as he starts being alone with his thoughts with nothing to distract him from the sadness or pain he may feel deep down.

Renn Atrius - He doesn't mind. He's been alone for way too long most likely and has had to become used to it in order not to spiral into panic. That doesn't mean he likes it. While he is an introvert, he considers the company of people he trusts comforting, even if they're just spending some time together in silence, that's enough for him to feel at home.

Augustus Grimmure - He embraces solitude. When he is alone he can think clearer, he can study his inventions properly and come up with new spells for his necromancy tome. He can learn his magic without being judged by others, something he has grown to fear due to past experiences. Usually, he does not like the company of too many people or being in crowded places - if company is required he prefers that of those he cares about and loves. He adores his friends, especially Harriet, his love.

Lyorna Talli - She doesn't mind it but doesn't like it. As long as she isn't bored or trapped, she has enough energy to keep herself entertained and be happy with it. But she loves to be around others who match her energy levels - and with whom she can ramble on and on about her special interests without being considered annoying.

🚷 - Tell one difference between yourself and this oc!

Jack Tithus - His personality is quite similar to mine in some aspects: he is extroverted, likes smoothies, is protective of his friends, tries to be polite whenever he can but is also sarcastic. He is Asexual, I am Asexual. I think the main differences between us are: 1. he is a guy, I'm a girl, 2. he's an older brother, I'm a younger sister, 3. he lives in a futuristic space dystopia, I live in modern-day Brazil.

Renn Atrius - We share a few personality traits, namely a love for reading and drawing, a dislike of oppressive systems, a wish for adventure, we both adore animals, etc. But the main differences between us are: 1. he is a half vampire/dhampir I am a human, 2. he is a guy, I'm a girl, 3. he lives in a dark fantasy medieval setting and I live in modern-day Brazil, 4. he is an introvert

Augustus Grimmure - The only similarities we share is a strange sense of humor, the love for reading, knowing how to play the piano and wanting to make the world a better place for all. There are plenty of differences between us though, too many too count. If I had to choose a few, they would be: 1. he has no qualms about killing and is a cold-blooded necromancer, I couldn't hurt a fly and am terrified of death, 2. he knows magic, I don't lmao, 3. he is a guy, I'm a girl, 4. once more, different settings where we live in, etc

Lyorna Quarr - We're pretty similar when it comes to personality! She's bubbly, I'm bubbly, she likes to make her friends happy, so do I, she has anxiety - SO DO I lmao. She also would collect cats if she could and I adore cats IRL. Differences would be: 1. She is an alien, I am a human, 2. She knows how to fly a spaceship and how to fix a robot, meanwhile I take eons to grasp some technology, 3. Once more, we live in very different places, 4. she has horns, I do not.

🧶 - Do they do any arts, crafts, or creative hobbies?

Masen Mavven - Masen is a bard! And a very good one at that. His songs are known far and wide, and his talent with the lute is undeniable. He also knows magic and can enchant people with his songs, which he uses in order to steal from the crowd without being noticed.

Quinn Aurellen - Being a high-profile courtesan to the noble court of the Morosyn Empire, Quinn often does not have time to pursue his artistic hobbies, but nevertheless he is a very talented painter and likes to spend his free time drawing nature and mystical creatures. He is also quite good at drawing and wanted to pursue a career as an artist before becoming a prisoner of war.

Cassiopeia Tithus - Cassie is good at making street art - which she used to do as a pre-teen as an act of rebellion against the Junction but also to make her home moon just a bit more beautiful. She is also a very creative inventor capable of creating almost any kind of robot imaginable along with other gadgets.

Alexey Morikov - Living in a cyberpunk dystopia, Alexey likes to find beauty in unexpected places - a habit that keeps him from feeling depressed. Due to this, Alexey has a passion for photography and always has a camera near him. He also like gardening (only flowers) and baking.

Thaddeus Lockhill - Thaddeus does journalling, which he uses to figure out his plans against the villains and also relax. He also knows how to dance the waltz and ballroom dances quite well, but he only does so if he needs to blend in on a masquerade or something.

Song of Thorns

The gnarled branches of the forest swayed around them, ichor black lines against the ash-white blanket that was the winter's snow. Aiden stood at the doorstep of the stone pavilion, biting their own lip nervously, as Tarrant placed a hand on their shoulder with a sad smile. "I've got to go. If I can do this, then my contract will be broken." He seemed giddy at the concept, "We'll finally be free to be ourselves. To be together. No longer in the shadow of my goddamn past."

Aiden frowned, with a bitter chuckle. "Or, conversely, we can simply end up dead in a ditch, throats slit by Gideon's men." Their voice was deadpan as they held Tarrant's hand, rubbing his knuckles pensively "If only one little thing goes wrong this plan of yours will doom us both. And your cousins too. I'm not sure about this."

Tarrant sighed, walking around for a moment, then leaning against one of the pavilion's pillars. "Well, I am" He sounded sure of himself - a rarity these days "It is more than worth the risk if this grants me my freedom and my soul back. I would rather die a thousand times than spend one more year under the grasp of that vile man. Let alone my entire lifetime"

He kicked a pebble, watching it hop once, then twice, before disappearing into the thick snow. "I have to do this," Tarrant concludes with a nod. His voice sounds giddy once more when he continues, uncharacteristically hopeful "Look, with the contract broken, you won't have to live in fear. We can marry. We can have a family without the haunting knowledge that the Serpents Guild would eventually tear it away from us."

Aiden sighed, a small smile creeping onto their lips as they watched their lover ramble on about the future they might yet have. They knew there would be no convincing Tarrant otherwise - plus, Aiden felt bad about risking that smile fading away. So, instead of arguing or objecting any further, they simply adjusted his travel satchel and straightened his fur cloak.

With a sigh, they stepped closer. Tarrant understood that as a yes. He walked up to meet Aiden, hugging them in a tender embrace and twirling around playfully for a moment with them in his arms. As they slow to a stop, Aiden places a quick, chaste kiss upon Tarrant's lips.

They fiddled with the brooch of his cloak for a moment, before their words came out in a whisper "...Just come back to me on one piece." Aiden doesn't look at Tarrant as they say so, but remains in his arms. They poke at him as if punctuating their phrase. "This plan is only wonderful if you're there to enjoy the fruits of it. No heroic sacrifices or other similar bullshit, please."

Tarrant chuckled and nodded. "Noted then."

I'll go with the turning point for Kane Mylestrom's character arc in Song of Thorns! (Spoilers Ahead)

Kane walks into the King's study, posture as immaculate as his robes, silver sword at his side. His expression was unreadable, but behind it hid the storm of anxiety and worry at being summoned by the Head of State in the middle of the night. Especially after what had happened.

Keeping his nerves out of his voice, Kane asked, in his usual 'can-do' tone. He tilted his head slightly to the side. "Your Majesty. You summoned me?"

The King did not turn around immediately to greet him, sitting on an ornate chair in front of a great oak study desk, his signature golden goblet of wine on the table. The man was seemingly busy signing some kind of document and patiently took his time rather than answering the other's inquiry right away. Kane bit back the urge to hurry him up, forcing himself to stand at attention by the door.

Finally, after a drawn-out minute that felt like an eternity, the King took a sip of his wine and stood up with a look of... disappointment. Mocking him, Kane realized.

"Ah, yes. Kane. My most trusted war hound ..." The older man spoke in a languid, bored voice, that hid a snake's malice underneath. The King smirked as he continued. "And the most wayward fool I ever had the pleasure to place upon my chessboard."

Kane drew in a sharp breath, trying to keep his composure.

"I'm not sure I follow, sire"

The King groaned, like an annoyed teacher "Of course you don't. You're not paid to think - you're paid to obey." He punctuates his words tapping his jeweled fingers at the oak desk behind him. "But you had to go snooping around. A rogue pawn is a useless one, you know. Alas, you had one job. Orders to follow. And you had to go and fuck it all up."

This time, Kane did not restrain himself from glaring daggers at his superior, but his military training forced his answer to be formal.

"With all due respect, I have been nothing but loyal ever since I was knighted at the Tempest's Keep ."

At that, the King chuckled, a rumbling sound that made Kane want to deck him right then and there for a split second. As the man continued, there was a condescending lilt to his voice as if he was having fun making a fool out of him.

"Yes." Larkin, the King, said. In the tone one would use to talk to a misbehaving child, "But also a curious one. And stupid enough to get involved. You saw the heart of the Sanguinex didn't you?" The man asked, a question rhetorical - as they both knew the answer to it "You saw the truth about my family's most prized art. And I haven't had a reign so everlasting by not cutting off threats to our prosperous land before they even present themselves"

Kane says nothing, realization dawning on him like a winter wind that was going to knock him to the ground. He knew precisely what Larkin meant - he had feared that would be the case ever since the mistake he made last week. So, the knight simply let the man continue to talk, trying to gauge how bad his situation would get before making any decision.

It was then the King said the only words Kane would've killed to not ever hear. "It's only a pity your ward will have to pay for your transgressions soon. Such a lively young girl, that Lyra. She had such promise - what would your adoptive brother say? Or better yet, what would your mother think if she could see you now? You, the Dragon of the Golden City, who failed to keep the only promise he ever made." The man chuckled, as someone would when hearing a bad joke. "That's so pathetic."

The last sentence was the tipping point for Kane. Knowing his life was already forfeit, he didn't care enough for the consequences that could follow anymore. "Touch my family and I'll kill you, bastard!"

However, as he reached for the sword at his side, Kane felt his limbs go stiff as if his blood had been turned to ice. He tried to force his body to move, but he was stuck in place. Paralyzed. With some effort, he was able to move his gaze toward the King, the answer immediately clear from the pulsing, crimson-red glow around Larkin's outstretched hand and eyes.

Of course, the man would use his petty excuse for hemomancy on him. Just peachy. Kane tried to scream, but little more than a muffled whisper came out. His voice, much like his body, refused to obey him.

Victorious, the King shook his head, walking towards the young man he just trapped. "Tsk, tsk." It took no effort for him to maintain focus on the spell, like a second-nature thought.

He circled Kane, like a prowling wolf stalking his wounded prey. Terrified, the young man tried everything he could to move away, but to no avail, frozen like a statue. Larkin put a hand on his shoulder - and the gesture would have been placating if it wasn't for the context, and for what he said next. As it stood, Kane would've cut off the King's hand if he could.

"Such spirit! It's almost a shame I'm about to lose a fighter like you. At such a young age too." He said, in a falsely impressed voice "Maybe your ward can yet prove to be useful. If she has your fire. With a bit of training, I'm sure my instructors can tame her into the weapon you could've been." Larkin leans closer, whispering in his ear "I'll make sure she knows well about how you abandoned her too. Can't have her following in your footsteps, that's for sure."

Kane protested fiercely at that. Or tried to. What sound he could muster came out more like an indignant whimper than the wrathful string of profanities he intended. It only made the King laugh more at his predicament.

After a moment more of this dynamic, of Kane trying to free himself while the King watched amused, Larkin stretched himself and walked to the door with a clap. "Well. Now that's out of the way... Guards!" As soon as he called out, two armored soldiers stepped into the room, with the same perfect posture as Kane had only moments prior. Larkin gestured towards Kane, dismissively "Take this one away, will you? I have more important matters to attend to."

Once Kane's arms were secured in shackled and held by the two soldiers, the King dismissed the spell and walked out without a second glance at the former commander. Kane, now freed from the enchantment, intended to cry out and curse the King's name - but strangely, his mind seemed foggy, and all too soon he was engulfed by darkness, as conscience slipped away from him.

Cassiopeia Tithus (pissed off, almost decking Deimos)- "Well we didn't ask you to come back! What the hell is wrong with you?"

Deimos Soll (trying to sound unemotional, actually terrified of General Laylah) - "You have refused to inform me of the purpose of my capture. Until you explain to me what your qualm with my person is, I shall refuse to comply with any orders coming from you."

Vesper Foxx (knife to the person's throat, pinning them to the wall by the scruff of their shirt): "What do you want, fucker? You seem to have a problem with me, so why don't we solve this one-on-one?"

Pax Stellaryn (mildly annoyed but chuckling after his brother pranked him): "Gosh, what did I do to deserve that this time? What is your excuse (chuckles)?"

I'll go with the cast of Song of Thorns and The Forgotten Ones (the WIP, which I finally named, that I talked about in this post)!

SONG OF THORNS

Roselyn - It depends on her mood! If she is happy and generally in a good mood she gives the best hugs! But if she's upset or tired she prefers to be alone. 7/10

Renn - If you are someone he loves and trusts, 8/10 best cuddle buddy in the world, but is physically cold like ice (vampyrs, and thus half-vampyrs/dhampyrs are cold-blooded, literally, they are poikilotherms). BUT if he doesn't know you then 1/10 will stab.

Kane - Surprisingly, Kane loves cuddles. But he is far too introverted and often too harsh to let anyone close enough. If he somehow miraculously trusts you enough, the cuddles will be the best! He also wears soft clothes, and fur cloaks and smells really good (like a mix of flowers and firewood) 9/10

Orianna - Too restless and energetic to stay in one place for too long lmao, wouldn't have the patience to stay cuddling for more than 5 minutes. 3/10

Jasen - Is the kind of ambivert who needs to be around people he loves to recharge. Loves cuddles, especially close to the fireplace and with two cups of herbal tea and chocolate. 10/10

Alaric - Eh. Doesn't really mind, but doesn't really want cuddles either. Is more of a "just staying together in the same room chilling is enough" kind of person. 5/10

Tarrant - NOPE. NOPETY NOPE. Tarrant doesn't like prolonged physical contact and has a lot of reasons why he doesn't really like to cuddle for too long. Likes hugs, but that's as far as he'll go when it comes to physical contact. 1/10

Aiden - Likes hugs and cuddles, but is super chill about it and understands that Tarrant has reasons not to like that kind of affection. Will only hug you if they really, really trust you. 6/10

Cyriel - Looks like she could kill you, secretly wants all the cuddles in the world. Unless she's in a bad mood, cause then she just might get a little stabby. 7/10

Dimya - Loves cuddles but falls asleep halfway through and moves a lot while sleeping (a.k.a whoever is cuddling him has a 50% chance of accidentally getting hit by a rogue elbow every 5 minutes throughout the whole night) 5/10

THE FORGOTTEN ONES

Arzhel - Too mistrustful and too paranoid to let anyone he doesn't know extremely well too close, and is generally not that big of a fan of physical affection as a whole, though he may cuddle with his brother or a very close friend if they seem to be in need of a hug. 5/10

Elodie - Loves cuddles and hugs but loves it a bit too much and is a bit too lonely. May not let go until it is almost concerning but means no harm. Constantly cuddles her adoptive siblings 7/10

Aisling - Claims she's too busy raising a revolution against an Inquisition to have time for hugs. Secretly too cuddle deprived and needs one badly at this point. 6/10

Daragh - After what he went through under Magister Emmerick? Do You Have A Death Wish? If not, don't try to hug him. It would be best to keep to polite conversations and handshakes only when necessary, for both of your sakes 0/10

Finnian - Loves cuddles, has plenty of fluffy blankets, and smells faintly like vanilla cologne because hygiene is very important to him. Overall best cuddle buddy 10/10

Vivaldah - Hasn't had a cuddle in way too long and probably would feel awkward to ask for one. Too worried about etiquette and revenge to consider the need for a cuddle. 4/10

SUPERNOVA INITIATIVE

Jack - Gives the best hugs! He loves to cuddle while watching a movie, with blankets and hot chocolate (he always has bottles of hot chocolate ready because it's his favorite beverage lol) 12/10

Cassiopeia - Mostly cuddles with Jack, because he's her older brother and she feels safe with him, but as she learns to trust their friends a bit more she sometimes, on rare occasions, can be found cuddling with Artemis or Vesper (though the latter would never admit it) 8/10 - Likes to receive cuddles better than to give them.

Deimos - In the past? 9/10 best cuddle buddy in the whole galaxy. Right now? After all the hell he has gone through and all the wrongs he's done and the pain he's caused? 5/10 probably feels too guilty to let anyone near him and thinks he deserves to be left alone after all he's done.

Vesper - 3/10 More machine than human - because she is a cyborg, she has updated most of her "human self" into robot parts. This means she is mostly made of metal and servos, sentient, tactile metal but still metal (though she does have some artificial robot skin over it, the metal can still be felt). So kinda tough to cuddle with. Either way, she is probably way too murderous to let most people get even close to her. Cassie is an exception because Vesper finds her endearing (she reminds Vesper of someone from her past she wants to protect).

Aleks - 8/10 Likes cuddles, loves hugs, but is probably too anxious and jittery to be in one place for too long, and will worry the entire time if the other person is "comfortable enough."

Pax - 10/10 Will try to cuddle you if you let him. If you don't he will respect it but be a bit sad. Mostly he just wants a friend to spend quality time with. And to get lots of cuddles.

Ethean - 6/10 Eh. It depends. As a fighter pilot he doesn't really have the free time for most things and usually prefers to spend what time he has doing things he considers "productive". Probably feels he is wasting precious time any time he stops to relax and the Impostor Syndrome anxiety kicks in. Can be persuaded to receive cuddles by the right people though.

Artemis - 7/10 - Wants to pretend he is tough and that he can handle anything alone and thus that he "doesn't like to hug" to uphold the Edgy Reputation. In reality, melts at the first sign of kind physical affection and will spend hours cuddling, if its the right person (Cassie, who is his girlfriend).

Noctus - "What are 'cuddles'? What is the meaning of this? I am confused, unhand me this instant human -! Oh, wait, I kinda like this. This is nice... Stay, I like this." Is how I imagine the interaction would be like 8/10

UNICORN - What makes your WIP and your writing stand out?

And the answer is... I am not sure. I try to make all of my WIPs unique, be it when it comes to plot, setting, or characters, or through the subversion (or by embracing depending on the context) of some tropes. I hope that all of my WIPs have an immersive worldbuilding that feels alive with characters that have rich internal conflict and interesting dynamics, alongside an exciting and intriguing story. At least that's what I hope to achieve.

POTION - If potions exist in your WIP, give me a potion recipe!

Yes, potions exist in almost all of my high fantasy WIPs! For this ask, I'll go with a potion from Song of Thorns (this potion is a product of mixed studies of alchemical sorcery and hemomancy, and is consumed throughout the book by Tarrant to try and ward off his infection by the Blood Plague/Curse while he seeks to break his soulbinding contract).

Elisian's Plea (or Draught of Delayed Sorrow)

Dried out Feyrose petals

Distilled Frost Wyrm's blood

One drop of Nightshade (heavily diluted)

Bone dust (deer bones)

Hangman's Bloom (a rare flower that grows in the cursed parts of the Borderland Forests)

Flavored water

How to Prepare: (according to Tarrant's diary)

"Mix the wyrm's blood and the (deer) bone dust into a fine paste until it becomes an even mixture. Add one drop of diluted nightshade. Ground the Feyrose petals and the Hangman's Bloom into a powder and add to the mix. Add the (vanilla flavored, my preference) water and mix until it's all liquid and glows scarlet like a vampire's blood. Drink one vial between each cycle of the moon. Repeat."

CAULDRON - Give me a fantasy food!

Grilled Sea Monster meat, served with cheesy potato buns.

"A delicacy from Myrwater Harbor, the seaside kingdom where Roselyn and her siblings were born in Song of Thorns. Sea monster meat is one of the main exports of the city, and is at the heart of this backwater harbor's culinary culture. Every month, enormous wood and metal fishing ships return to the harbor with gigantic sea monsters as their day's prize. This dish is typically prepared by taverns, where large chunks of this rare meat are roasted over a wood-fired oven, while fresh cheese and potato buns are prepared. Once cooked, the fish meat is typically cut into small squares and covered with a rich sauce made of a variety of seasonal local spices, and is served along with the cheesy potato buns on a wooden plate"

Smoked venison pie with wildberry and (deer) blood sauce

"From the opposite side of the continent (still in the WIP Song of Thorns), another dish, this time one typically enjoyed by those of Vampyric or simply Fey roots. Being talented hunters, game meat is one of the main sources of food for both faeries and vampyrs alike. This pie takes a long time to be prepared. It is made of smoked venison meat, covered by a sauce made of deer blood, wildberries and a variety of spices, as well as some forest vegetables. The pie's crust is a thin and layered dough, very light."

Aetherberry Cake

"This is a typical elven dessert from the mountain elves from the WIP Song of Thorns! (Fun, unrelated, fact: Elves, in this world, are vegetarians by nature and faith, and do not consume any kind of meat.) This cake is made of a rare kind of berry that grows in the windy forests that surround the mountains that the elves call home. It is a magical fruit with enchanted, healing, properties. This cake is light, fluffy, and sweet with a creamy frosting (also made with magical ingredients) and berry syrup."

Ivion Fish Stick Sandwiches and Hot Chocolate

"A cheap, quick, and easy meal from the galaxy of Supernova Initiative. A traditional snack from the moons of Ivion, it was made to fit into the tight budget most families have on the planet moons' struggling settlements - and thus was one of the main dishes Jack Tithus used to make for his sister while they were growing up there, and it remains one of their favorites to this day. The sandwich is made with instant-bake loaf bread, fried or dry fish sticks, and spicy mayo. The hot chocolate is made with powdered milk (+ hot water), instant chocolate/cocoa mix, and voidroot (essentially a harmless and cheap space spice that tastes like a mix of cinnamon and pepper and gives the drink a faint glittery look)."

PRINCESS - Urban Fantasy or High Fantasy

Definitely High Fantasy in the medieval variety (or at least historically inspired, Victorian Era is great too)! I'm very picky when it comes to urban fantasy and usually don't like it, though I do have a minor WIP in that genre, it isn't where my unbridled passion lies. That spot is reserved for high fantasy, dark fantasy, and science fiction/space opera.

WIZARD - Who Is Your Favorite Character in this WIP? Describe them!

I'll do you one better: I'll tell you my top three favorite characters (or at least the ones I have the most fun writing right now) from two of my main current WIPs (in no particular order)!

SONG OF THORNS:

Kane Mylestrom:

About: Kane is a cocky and undefeated young knight widely known as the Dragon of the Golden City for his exploits and victories. After being betrayed by the nobles he idolized and being left for dead, Kane embarks on a journey with the people he least expected to ever align himself with - the group of outlaws who are the main cast of the book - to kill the King and save his ward (adoptive sister) from a crooked fate.

Physical Appearance: Kane is a tall and muscular young man with medium to long silvery white hair and brown eyes. His skin is pale and he has quite a few battle scars. Before his betrayal, Kane used to wear his signature silver armor with the insignia of the Order of Storms upon his chestplate (a sea dragon) or pristine noble robes, typically in the colors of dark blue or grey with gold filigree. He is quite handsome and charming.

Renn Atrius:

About: A former vampyric noble, Renn's live was destroyed at a very young age - at five years old, he witnessed his father (a vampyr) being killed by hunters sent by human royalty. Renn escaped and became an infamous outlaw and thief, stealing from the rich and powerful nobility of Hyghsummit as a way to spite the ones who murdered his father. He joins the story's MC on a quest to expose and defeat the cruel royals that oppress their land and keep humans from waging war on his people.

Physical Appearance: Renn has long pitch-black hair, which he usually styles into an intricate bun or ties into a ponytail. His skin is almost completely stark white, like snow or paper - a vampiric trait he inherits from his Vampyr father - while his eyes are a warm light greyish brown - a trait he inherits from his human mother. He is of average height and quite slender. He has pointy ears like that of an elf or faery, and sharp vampiric fangs. Usually, he wears pristine black robes with golden trim, black pants, and boots. He still has his father's hemomancy amulet on a necklace.

Elveryn Haven:

About: A ruthless, unyielding, and unstoppable monster hunter bound in a bloodthirsty quest for revenge against his younger brother's untimely death, Elveryn plays the role of a minor antagonist during the first acts of this book but has an unexpected change of heart when he finds out a bitter secret from his past which changes his whole worldview. He then decides to have his redemption helping the MCs defeat the King.

Physical Appearance: Elveryn is a very tall, slender but surprisingly strong young man. He has medium-length pale blond hair and warm, slightly tan, skin, with a scar on one side of his face. He has sharp, dark grey eyes. Elveryn always carries his updated crossbow, of his own creation, with him at all times, along with a quiver of explosive silver bolts - and has a deadly aim. He usually wears a long dark grey overcoat, dark pants, a worn-out pitch-black cloak for camouflage, leather boots, and gloves.

SUPERNOVA INITIATIVE:

Jack Tithus:

About: Jack is a young and charming intergalactic thief, the most wanted man by the Junction, and the story's protagonist. He is also a caring older brother - after raising his younger sister practically alone, he will do whatever it takes to keep Cassie and their friends safe. Even if it means accepting to become a mad scientist's lab rat. Overall, Jack is a kind, funny, and outgoing young man with a bright personality, a tendency for recklessness, and a knack for leadership, who wants to rebel against their galaxy's oppressive "utopian" (dystopian) regime and find a better future.

Physical Appearance: Jack has bright auburn/red hair which is styled into an asymmetrical bob (with an undercut on one side and longer curls on the other). He has brown eyes and a sharp, incredibly joyful smile. Jack has average height and usually wears a simple white shirt under his "space pirate" leather jacket, along with simple neon blue cargo pants and combat boots, as well as black fingerless gloves. He always wears a simple trinket necklace which Cassie has a matching half of.

Deimos Soll:

About: An infamously silver-tongued assassin, sniper, and mercenary known for being unpredictable and always having hidden intentions, Deimos is Jack and Cassie's former crewmate and first childhood friend, turned rival, turned begrudging-friend-again. Deimos is the most successful and deadly sniper in the whole galaxy, feared even by the Junction at his full potential. He hails from the winter deserts of the planet of Ivion, and met Jack and Cassie after moving to the planet's moons, and was their friend until they parted ways due to differing opinions. He is cunning, painfully introverted, efficient, and sometimes awkward, while also being a smooth-talker and natural blackmailer. He has a redemption arc later on in the story and decides to save his friends from the setup he had created for his own benefit, endangering himself in the process but regaining his friendship and morality.

Physical Appearance: Deimos is an uncannily tall young alien man (by human standards at least). He has pale blue skin and very long dark indigo/blue hair with purple undertones, he usually keeps his hair meticulously tied. His eyes are deep violet and he has sharp fangs and an equally dangerous smile. He is lanky and very thin but makes but for it with deadly accurate sniper skills. He has clawed hands with a color gradient - his fingers are a deep blue that becomes faint and pale as it reaches his wrist and arm. He wears pristine clothes, opting for a casually fancy look that is also bulletproof (literally).

Cassiopeia Tithus:

About: Jack Tithus' younger sister and a brilliant inventor and engineer, Cassie focuses her talents on the creation of robots that aid their crew during their heists and generally make their lives easier. She has an optimistic and friendly personality though sometimes she chooses to be a menace. Cassie is generally rebellious, but harbors lesser contempt for the Junction than Jack, mostly because he always sheltered her from the worst of it so she isn't really aware of how low their world can go. She has a helpful, kind personality and always wants to help everyone fit in, but also has a strong sense of justice and harbors grudges like nobody else. Cassie is also more introverted than Jack.

Physical Appearance: Cassiopeia has average height and weight, and has curly hair which she usually dyes neon blue. Her natural hair color is a slightly more brunette shade of auburn than Jack's. She has brown eyes. She has pale and freckled skin. Cassie usually wears practical but very colorful clothes, in very bright hues. Her typical attire includes a simple T-shirt, which she may or may not have "borrowed" from her brother, long cargo pants, and a colorful coat of her choice (bomber jackets, oversized hoodies, leather jackets, etc, depending on her mood). She is almost always fidgeting with some kind of new robot invention she is working on and always carries lots of gadgets around in her backpack.

Your characters are attending a wedding! What are they wearing, what present are they giving the couple, and what do they get arrested for when the night is over?

I'll go with a few of my characters from my WIPs!

Tarrant (Song of Thorns) -

What he is wearing: An impeccable blue robe with gold trim and delicate embroidered details, with a ruffled white shirt, tight black pants, and delicate boots. He also has delicate black silk gloves and golden jewelry. He may or may not be wearing light traditional makeup. His long strawberry-blond hair is either loose and styled with delicate silver chains or tied into a neat ponytail.

What present is he giving the couple: Something expensive but standard. He probably doesn't have time to spend choosing something incredibly specific, so he chooses the next best thing: something of quality that he knows will be considered useful by the wedded couple.

What does he get arrested for when the night is over: Getting into a fight with an important guest who got too drunk and tried to hit on him inappropriately.

Jack (Supernova Initiative) -

What he is wearing: An elegant white suit or a pitch black smoking, with a loose "button-up" shirt and no tie. He wears well-tailored pants and fancy shoes. He probably has styled his hair a bit more than usual with gel but otherwise keeps his same usual hairstyle. He still wears his trinket necklace. Most of his fancy "black-tie" clothes are likely rental, except for the shirt.

What present is he giving the couple: Something that will impress them, likely something incredibly unique or at least unusual. Very likely stolen too, given his occupation is literally being an "intergalactic thief".

What does he get arrested for when the night is over: Doesn't get arrested because he is way too good at what he does. Since he most likely doesn't know the bride and groom, he probably has robbed them blind and is halfway to a space diner with his sister and friends right now to celebrate another successful heist.

Masen (Of Starlight and Beasts) -

What he is wearing: A pristine and intricate red and gold bard's robe with simple grey pants and leather boots, along with a fancy fur cloak. His long curly brown hair is loose but styled with two simple braids and iron jewelry. He also carries his best lute.

What present is he giving the couple: A cask of the finest and most exquisite wine of the land, which he hopes to enjoy during the celebration as well.

What does he get arrested for when the night is over: Trying to use his bardic magic (literally) to enchant the crowds at the wedding into giving him all their money and then trying to make a run for it.

Kane (Song of Thorns) -

What he is wearing: His finest suit of armor, polished especially for this occasion, along with his famous bear fur cloak and his silver sword proudly on display at his side. His hair is loose and combed into semi-perfection.

What present is he giving the couple: A finely crafted duo of swords - one for each one of the duo.

What does he get arrested for when the night is over: Having a little too much to drink and then getting into a brawl with someone who tried to insult his family name.

Cassiopeia (Supernova Initiative) -

What is she wearing: A glittery dress with their galaxy's constellations perfectly etched onto it, with delicate party slippers. She also wears her half of the trinket necklace.

What gift does she give the couple: A newly built robot of her own making possibly one to help around the couple's house.

What does she get arrested for at the end of the night: Same answer as Jack's (her big brother). Doesn't get arrested and flies away on their spaceship to a space diner to celebrate a successful heist.

Elodie (The Forgotten Ones) -

What is she wearing: A ruffled shirt with tight black pants and a fancy green vest/corset, with new leather boots.

What gift does she give the couple: An enchanted and rare kind of butterfly that is said to grant wishes. It's known as the Moonflight.

What does she get arrested for when the night is over: Getting too carried away and trying to steal some of the silver cutlery and small ornaments from the party.

SUPERNOVA INITIATIVE

Deimos Soll

About: An infamously silver-tongued assassin, sniper, and mercenary known for being unpredictable and always having hidden intentions, Deimos is Jack and Cassie's former crewmate and first childhood friend, turned rival, turned begrudging-friend-again. Deimos is the most successful and deadly sniper in the whole galaxy, feared even by the Junction at his full potential.

Badly/Funny Summarization: Essentially a young, alien, 'space opera' version of John Wick with extra angst and a very questionable moral compass

Lyorna Alyrii

About: A young and optimistic freedom fighter from a water folk of a faraway planet in the Khosmonian galaxies who believes in a freer future for her people and an end to the oppressive regime of the Junction. Focused and brilliant, Lyorna wants to uphold her father's legacy and bring peace to the galaxy. She becomes friends with Jack Tithus during his crew's mission on the Khosmonian galaxy and later on they become each other's love interest.

Bad Summarization: An overly optimistic, too-precious young adult who should be protected at all costs and has almost no plan for anything at any given moment in time and should not be left unsupervised.

Noctus

About: Though his full name is classified and unknown to the cast, his reputation precedes him. He is the single most successful special forces secret agent currently in the employ of the Junction - he has never failed a mission, never missed a target. And he always follows orders, always obeys the rules. However, is everything about him what it seems? A forgotten and suppressed part of his memory may prove that the system he fought so dearly to uphold may have actually made him into their perfect living weapon, and there may be many other lies yet to be uncovered

Bad Summarization: Twenty-something secret agent done with everything and everyone who only wanted to have a simple mission and ends up 'adopted' by the gang of misfits he was sent to supervise.

SONG OF THORNS

Tullieh Aerlys

About: The undefeated and steadfast commander of the Guardians, who protect the Mountain Elves' hidden kingdom and keep outsiders from discovering their land. Tullieh is a serious, no-nonsense young man to whom duty and honor mean everything, due to a personal grudge against humans, especially those who hunt mythical beings, he will do anything to honor his vow and keep his people - especially his younger siblings - from being found by outsiders, even if it means being ruthless and unforgiving to a questionable degree.

Bad Summarization: Traumatized ancient teenager who grew up way too fast and should never have been given a gun and a sword under any circumstances, but has both of those things and a lack of self-preservation instincts to make everything worse.

Renn Atrius

About: A foreign noble from beyond the royal lands, he was forced into the lifestyle of a thief from a young age, after being orphaned when his father, a Vampyr, was murdered for refusing to obey their neighboring kingdom's crown. Learning the art of disappearing into the night and taking valuables from the land that took everything from him and colonized his nation, Renn quickly became quite the nuisance for the King. But thankfully to his connection to raw blood magic, his slight vampiric abilities ensure no human soldier ever proves a real threat to him. He starts to fall in love with Roselyn, having become friends with her after trying to steal her coin purse (having mistaken her for a tourist from the capital).

Bad Summarization: Goth dhampyr way too reckless for his own good chooses to be a menace to the System while also refusing to deal with his very much unresolved childhood trauma.

Cadenza Narellie

About: A young faery noble, Cadenza is the only child of a once-powerful, now defamed, High House. After rumors about her father's supposed alliance with their nation's enemies, the human royals from the neighboring kingdom, their reputation came crashing down, and so did the bond they once shared, as her father grew mysteriously distant from her. Realizing something is seriously amiss, Cadenza takes it upon herself to investigate and find out the truth about what is truly happening, even if it gets her accused of treason herself.

Bad Summarization: Local faery with way too much time on her hands and no friends decides to dive into a conspiracy and is surprised when that decision has consequences.

THE FORGOTTEN ONES

Arzhel - "Hm. A couple months ago the answer to that question would have been a resounding no. When we first met, I found Elodie overly optimistic, annoyingly nosy, and just simply abrasive with the amount of talkative energy she seemed to have at all times, even at times where all I wanted was a bit of silence. But now... those same qualities are precisely the same reason why I think I'm falling in love with her. She's wonderfully positive, able to find the good in almost any situation no matter how bleak things seem. While I still find her endless questions a bit much, she is perceptive and always notices when someone is hiding something, a trait that has saved our lives more than once now. She always has something to say and I have grown fond of her rambles throughout our travels, it's become something comforting, familiar. Honestly, I'm just as surprised as you are, I think."

Elodie - "Yes, in an unexpected way. There was something about him that just felt different, like something clicked at the moment when we met. Somehow, I immediately knew he was an incredibly kind person, even though when we first met he was a bit of a grumpy douche who always expected the worst in people and thought everyone was out to get him. And despite that, he was always a perfect gentleman, polite and respectful, if a bit waspish and defensive at times. Given the hell he has gone through, I'm surprised he has remained such a kind person. Now, we have grown to trust one another, as best friends - and I hope that one day, we'll be as partners. If you know what I mean!"

SONG OF THORNS

Kane - "Renn?! My type?! Are you kidding me? No, no, no. Thank you very much. Not that I have anything against him but, mainly our personalities are far too different and our beliefs too contrasting - when we first met we could barely remain civil, almost every simple discussion ended with us at each other's throats. I'm surprised we were even able to become friends! And regardless, he's not really my type. I'm not really into rebellious and brooding vampiric ex-lordlings with a thirst for justice, and even if I were, the guy is in a committed relationship with one of my best friends, and I would never dare ruin their bond. Quite honestly, I never really had a serious romantic relationship before. I've dated guys and girls and was pretty popular before my name was dragged through the mud, but I haven't really had the time to figure out what it is I want in a long-term relationship. Maybe it's time I think a bit more about that."

Renn - "Absolutely not! Before he was exiled, the guy represented everything I hated the most - a paragon of 'human valor' against the 'wretched Vampyric beasts', a man who fights for King and glory. As a half-vampyr, he was nothing more than an enemy to me. And now, after he was exiled and changed a lot - both in matters of personality but also in moral growth - were able to be friends. But nothing more than that. And I'm committed to someone, my darling Roselyn, whom I love very much. I would never betray her trust, ever. So, in short, no, he is not my type, but I'm happily dating someone else who is my type."

SUPERNOVA INITIATIVE

Deimos - "Uhhh.... No. That question makes me feel weird on so many levels, haha. Me and Jack grew up together, ever since we were just kids looking for trouble on a faraway moon. We were family, the only family each other ever had - before... well, everything happened and everything I've done. It was just him, me, and Cass against the world - an inseparable trio of dumb kids who didn't know any better and dreamed of escaping to somewhere far away from the dust and grime of our homeworld. We did everything together for years. Even when we made our makeshift crew of 'space pirates', it started with the three of us. Then I had to go and screw it all up, but that's a story for another time. Point is: Jack is like a brother to me, and it's uncomfortable for me to even consider him as 'my type' for... obvious reasons. I wouldn't be able to date someone I consider my sibling, even if there is literally no blood relation between us. The thought is still hella weird. So. Nope."

Jack - "(Nervous chuckling) Oh, hell no. First of all, same answer as his was: we grew up together and even though we drifted apart - read: became polar opposites and even rivals - as grownups there's still that 'he's my brother' energy between us, even if our bond isn't the same as it was. Just the concept already feels wrong to even think about. He may have left our crew and changed a whole lot, but that's still the same guy whom I knew as a kid and who used to play video games with me until we both fell asleep or who helped me take care of Cassie whenever she got sick. So. He was - is - my adoptive sibling and all that. And now that's out of the way, there's an unrelated, second point... I've never dated anyone before, so even if I tried to come up with an answer I wouldn't even know what 'my type' is. I want to find someone who loves me romantically, but I don't feel sexual attraction in the way most people seem to feel, which makes dating around a bit trickier than it already is. So, still haven't found what my type is BUT I know for sure that type will never be Deimos."

🙌 - How many siblings does your OC have?

Jack (Supernova Initiative) - Jack has one biological younger sister, Cassiopeia, whom he raised on his own ever since he was a teenager. He also has an adoptive brother, Deimos Soll, who was his best friend as a kid but then drifted away once they grew up before they reconciled.

Tarrant (Song of Thorns) - Tarrant has no siblings but he has two cousins (twins) with whom he has a sibling-like bond. Their family was pretty screwed up, so they only really had each other to rely on.

Elodie (The Forgotten Ones) - Elodie has an older sister named Raine, and two adoptive siblings, Sasha and Ilya. They were all street urchins, who became friends by chance and family by choice.

Nydia (Mutant Inquiries) - Nydia had a twin brother named Skylar, and they were both famous and successful ballet stars during their teen years, but he was killed by one of the villains of the story, which started her revenge arc.

Jack - (I answered that here) 💕

Tarrant - Awful, just plain awful. His parents were some of the worst people in his life, who mistreated him viciously and abandoned him at the first chance they got. He was adopted by his aunt, but after she died it was just him and his cousins against the world. To make matters worse, years later, Tarrant discovers that his parents sold his soul to a local Warlord - which forced him to work for that man as a spy and entertainer, lest his soul would be destroyed and his cousins killed. So yeah. Horrible parents, horrible.

Elodie - She never knew her mother, but she knew her father. He was a kind man, and a loving parent to her and her older sister. He was a former soldier, who had left the army after being accused of treason. He (and his children) ended up having to live on the run because of it, and when Elodie was seven years old he ultimately was killed by his former "comrades".

Nydia - Her parents were distant and narcissistic - not necessarily in an extremely abusive way, but in a way that their love was conditional and they were only truly 'happy' with her when she and her twin accomplished something they deemed 'important enough'. They weren't really the emotionally present sort either. And especially didn't give her the support she needed when she needed it.

Deimos: "My sniper rifle, or food. One of those two options, it depends on what hypothetical 'universe' I happen to wake up in."

Vivaldah: "My sister's necklace, which is also the sigil of our House. It's one of my most prized possessions."

Kane: "I wouldn't call my dragon a 'thing', because she is a sentient and mighty being who deserves all the respect, but yes, I would take my dragon with me."

2. What kind of person pisses you off the most?

Deimos: "People who think they can do anything to others just because they have the power to - snobbish tyrants who think it's their birthright to screw others over. Also, people who objectify others or who think torture is 'okay' just because they think it's justified for a 'greater cause' are a kind person that makes my blood boil immensely."

Vivaldah - "Those who justify cruelty in the name of their 'Gods', and who think they can kill anyone whom they consider 'heretics' just for thinking differently than them. I also hate people who are rude and who like to make fun of others."

Kane - "Cowards and people who turn tail and run at the first sign of trouble, along with liars, manipulators and people who have no moral compass. I also despite royals who consider their subordinates as pawns to be manipulated and discarded once we're no longer of 'use.'"

3. How often do you dream? Are they usually dream-dreams, or nightmares?

Deimos: "Well let's see: I was kidnapped from my homeworld by slavers when I was sixteen, escaped, and grew up as a street urchin - with the duo who became my adoptive siblings - on one of the most crime-ridden moons of our galaxy, and then, as an adult, was captured by an insane warlord who tried to torture me into being her living puppet weapon. So... you can imagine the kind of 'dreams' I have are far from pleasant most nights."

Vivaldah: "I used to have the sweetest dreams in the past. When I was just me being a princess who lived in a rosy-tinted world, sheltered in my family's ancestral palace. Then the Iron Inquisition came. Now my sleep is haunted by the memories of the day my family was slaughtered by them."

Kane: "Eh. I'm not the kind that usually has a lot of dreams, and when I do they're usually the most nonsensical, stupid mess that makes me question my life and sanity, and then wake up and not remember anything about that dream in the morning. So. My dreams aren't bad, they're just weird and I rarely remember most of them."

🌵- What did you start with first for your WIP? Worldbuilding, character, or plot?

Supernova Initiative: Worlbuilding and character development! The plot of the story changed DRASTICALLY from the initial iterations of it, but the basic vibes that led to the creation of the current main characters were already there, same for some of the base world elements, though those evolved and changed a lot too!

The Forgotten Ones: Characters! This WIP is actually a very old story of mine that I had completely forgotten (oops, pun! lol) about for a few years, then rediscovered, reworked, and turned into something I liked again. The first thing I came up with while reworking this old story into a new one was the characters! The world and the plot changed A LOT and many times from what was the original idea until it turned into the current plot.

Song of Thorns: World and Plot! I originally had a completely different idea for who the main characters were going to be (eventually scrapped that one and created the current ones) but the main vibes of the world, gothic, gloomy, vampiric medieval fantasy + some of the plot basis were already there!
