This is my main blog. I do have a few side blogs for my writing and crafting (and my cat). Originally, this was a sims 2 blog, but now I post about reading and just about anything I’m thinking. I hope you’ll join me! I’m going to try to be more consistent in 2023.

Surprise! I Dont Know If You Saw The Twist Coming Or Not, But I Had A Lot Of Fun Creating Malcolms Bachelor

Surprise! I don’t know if you saw the twist coming or not, but I had a lot of fun creating Malcolm’s Bachelor challenge and then pulling the rug out from under everything at the last minute. For the record, I think he would have chosen Charlotte. She was only about 5 points ahead of Penny in relationship points and they really seemed to have a connection. But, of course, it was all a pitch cooked up by Cynthia and Sylvia Marie, so none of it actually happened.
Look below the cut for more about how I played the bachelor challenge. There aren’t any extra pictures, but I got a little wordy (to no one’s surprise). If you don’t feel like reading, I won’t be hurt. Round 3 will start soon and I will see you there!
I played the entirety of the Bachelor challenge in a copy of Bluewater, now officially called Bluewater Extras. (I’m not sure if I’ll need it for any future staging purposes, but it’ll be nice to have it around.)
I tried to just let everything go naturally and keep the sims on free will, but when I had to start having Malcolm queue up flirts with each girl and he kept wandering off, I turned off everyone’s free will. I also made use of teleportation so that it didn’t take forever for sims to climb up and down the stairs in that giant house, and I actually locked a bunch of the rooms there so the sims wouldn’t wander everywhere. I wish now that I hadn’t put in so many chess tables because that and the hot tubs were all they wanted to use...
I’d never played a bachelor challenge before. It was surprisingly quick to play (once I turned off free will). I wanted to add a lot more drama and make it more like a TV show (like I did at the beginning of the challenge) but it just didn’t work...I did try with Cynthia’s little bits with each of the eliminated girls, but I never got the spirit of those first few posts back.
I hope you still enjoyed the whole romp. My favorite part was the ending, but that was mostly because I knew the twist from the start and was wickedly delighted by it. What was your favorite part?

In an office. Fleming is behind the desk. Malcolm and Lilly Gate are sitting on the other side.
Fleming looked over the top of his glasses, a mildly amused look on his face. "So, Miss Gate, would you or Mr. Landgraab care to explain why you asked to meet with me today? I was under the impression that we finished any business we had together in court."
"My client has something to tell you regarding his family legacy," Lilly said. "Go ahead, Malcolm."
Malcolm cleared his throat and tried to remember the speech he'd prepared. "I know the deadline for me getting married is coming up fast," he said, "and I think we both know I'm not going to make it."
Fleming raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Malcolm continued. "I've decided that instead of rushing into a marriage just to follow a tradition, I'm going to follow a different tradition. Your firm can have the house and the businesses and the money. I'm starting over."

Malcolm’s got a new look for Round 3, which will officially start tomorrow!

Okay. Here is the last set of replies for the Bachelor Challenge. I don’t think I got everybody (because there were quite a lot of you), but I clicked as many as I could. One of these days I’ll get better about replying to replies more quickly.
Replies under the cut for @didilysims , @katrisims , @simsofsimcity , @holleyberry , @penig , and @greenfooddog . (Also, @audreysims14 , I saw you catching up!)
Thanks so much for all the great responses to this interlude. I had a lot of fun seeing your reactions!
Yeah, the trouble with these challenges is that they get pretty repetitive, which can be tough for drama. But the twist was great. So this means the real Malcolm will never even meet any of the lovely ladies?
Well...they all exist in the real Bluewater neighborhood. I put them in there for Cynthia’s baby shower, and they were all there. Technically, I think real Malcolm has at least met them in passing. I think we’ll see them around town in the next round, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them played a larger role in the story.

Oh I didn't see it coming at all! Actually, I was still looking out for an explanation for how Malcolm agreed and am only now realizing that he didn't! (I thought the ending was a flashback and the explanation and the winner would be revealed later, but now that you say it...) Well that makes a lot of sense, really. Hopefully the lawyer thing works out this time around.
Hooray! I’m glad I had you fooled. The lawyer thing will be addressed first thing in the next round. :)

I've been thinking of doing something like this at some point in my ubermegahood, is there anything you wish you'd done differently?
With Bluewater in general, or with the Bachelor Challenge specifically? With the Bachelor challenge, I wish I’d only put in one chess table instead of about five. I don’t know why I felt like I needed so many. I also kind of wish I’d given the sims more free will. It would have made for more interesting scenes, but at the same time, it would have made the daily requirements more difficult to get through...
holleyberry replied to your photoset “And then you’ll finally get down on one knee, in front of the woman...”
Sneaky! I thought this might be the case. He was so against there help. Why would he all of a sudden agree to a Bachelor Challenge.
:D Cynthia and Sylvia Marie never know when to give up. I’m starting to wonder what Cynthia will do when Justin is old enough to start dating...
penig replied to your photoset “This is it. The big moment. Malcolm looks at the two beautiful...”
I choose polyamory!
That would have been a twist!
katrisims replied to your photoset “At noon, Malcolm gathered the girls and made a sad choice. Malcolm:...”
That's the last one I had a bad vibe about out the door, yes! Based on her interview, Bella was looking for a career boost rather than a partner, so not good enough for Malcolm. Charlotte seemed nice, and I guess by now it's clear they have more in common than being wealthy. Penny is my favorite because she actually scolded Cynthia for how she presented Malcolm as a prize. I still root for her, but the cards seem to be in Charlotte's favor. Well, that's ok too.
Malcolm liked Charlotte best (by about 3 points), but I think he and Penny had more chemistry in-game. Obviously, since this was all a

The banner looks great! I refuse to edit, personally, unless I can do it in MS Paint!
Thanks! I use the Preview program or (for “fancy” things like the banner) the Drawing part of Open Office.

Hey, everyone! I need a bit of help! I’m working on the official start of Round 3, but I’m not sure where to take the story after a certain point. That’s where you come in. I’ve created a really short poll about who you wanted Malcolm to end up with in the Bachelor Challenge (if it had been real). You can also tell me why you wanted him to end up with that sim, and there’s one extra bonus question on there as well.
Please go HERE to participate in the poll. It really will help!
Thanks!

“Oh, you’re doing that string thing again? Well, I guess I can take a break from sitting at the computer for you and help with that.” Random cat is random and adorable, and I felt like sharing him.
