I've stood inside a public school a total of 1 time, and that was during my senior year and I was visiting a friend and went to school with her. no one in my notes can actually seem to for sure pinpoint where it came from. Some people are saying Queen’s gambit. I think the chess streamers on twitch were probably more influential, but I also think the social effect of everyone you know getting into a game that you can play during class on teenagers going to make participation in whatever activity that is skyrocket. in general i think kids don’t really bully each other for liking stereotypical “nerdy”interests like they used to which I think is so fantastic.
