I know I talked about this before when the series ended, but I love the juxtaposition of these two shots ignoring that they accidentally reversed her image in the mirror in the first one.
First of all, it's very clear how much more budget they had by the end of the series. Look at how much more detailed her mirror is, not to mention the shadows behind it, and even though I'm sure it's actually because of budget, you can see the far wall/mural reflected in the glass in PEEV as opposed to the blank mirror in TBEA.
However, budget or not, I think that really works for symbolism. In TBEA, Rapunzel wasn't sure what the future would hold, and she wasn't sure who she was. She wasn't ready for her life outside the tower to "end" already, or to be roped into a role that she was not yet prepared to fill. In TBEA, the mirror behind her isn't just blank, it reflects nothing at all, not even the far wall. Rapunzel is only able to see herself and her uncertainty.
However, by the end of PEEV, when Rapunzel looks in the mirror, she not only sees a strong, confident, beautiful young lady, she can also see all the adventures she's had in the past few years reflected back at her. She can see the life she's been able to lead and the good she's done. She can see the people and experiences that have mattered the most to her. She can see that she's not at all trapped here, but that this role, this duty, is a part of her life, and a part that she's now ready to take on.
Similarly to budget, but similarly symbolic, in TBEA, the only thing on the vanity was her crown, and it was central on the table: the one thing that seemed to matter to her father and the people of Corona. The thing that was putting so much pressure on her. But in PEEV, the crown's cushion is off to the side. It's no longer the central focus of her life. She's allowed to see herself first, and the crown second, with more personal and immediately useful items taking center stage on the vanity.
These two shots really show how far Rapunzel has come during the course of the series, as a whole.
(Also, this is how you do a callback.)

Every time I think to hard about tts the darkness takes over and I start shooting myself in the face
not to trauma dump on main (which is all i do) but this is soooo how my mom treats me in my wheelchair vs how my theater teacher did. One of them called me useful and compared me to a stroller/table/basket etc. and one of them would spin me so she could dance with me like she did the other students :')

I wish they included this in the show cause it’s just so great. Look at the difference in how Gothel and Arianna treat Rapunzel’s hair. Look how Gothel almost worships it and focuses on it for herself while Arianna uses the hair as a comedy prop to make Rapunzel laugh
AND ON TOP OF IT ALL he does this for her KNOWING her hair would be the only thing that could've saved him from death. He would rather DIE than not do this one act for her. SAVE HER. I'm ill...
Flynn cutting off Rapunzel's hair is actually an incredible expression of love because he's getting rid of the one thing that directly caused her "mom" to abuse her and thus is truly setting her free from all that horribleness because now she no longer has the very thing itself that was causing it. That also means not even he could use it against her and is proving he loves her beyond it. The now-short length is also truly a part of this literal cutting away of the abuse-tool too, because now even it being long is gone and she no longer even has to think about it if she doesn't want to beyond basic maintenance. The length of her hair was just as much of a tool to hurt her as the magic powers, because her "mom" was using it to have her own freedom but didn't let Rapunzel use her own hair to leave. Getting rid of her hair in all the ways it was used as a tool of abuse and reducing it to something she only needs to care about if she wants to is literally the best gift he could give her.

interview is soooooo difficult as somebody recovering from a lifetime of codependent relationship after codependent relationship after codependent relationship. I understand these stupid vampires completely and I feel the damage done onto them because it is my own. but I also feel their love, as that is also my own. One could not exist without the other and I know this from personal experience. By giving your love you're handing them the remote to a shock collar around your heart. I can't in good conscious ship them bcs practically all of them are like this, but also, how can i NOT ship them??? I feel the devotion they have for each other. It's there, tangible, in my hands. but how can I wish for my favorite characters to endure the emotional warfaire I relate to? How can I not wish for it if that's the very reason they're my favorite characters. Many such cases...
