Hi! I think very little relationships are not based on attraction.

Platonic attraction is the desire for platonic relationships. It's looking at someone and thinking 'I really want to be their friend'. I know other aroace people who talk about how much they want to befriend people they think are cool.

I'm aplatonic and that just doesn't happen to me. Sure I like talking to people and you're right to say people need connections but I just don't have the desire to be close to any specific person. People I call my friends are people who have stuck around with me for years. I don't look for friends and if someone doesn't stick around I don't really care.

I want people to like me but beyond that it doesn't matter to me.

Familial attraction is how people talk about "I don't get along with so and so but she's my mother/he's my father/she's my grandmother etc). I guess it is kind of obligation but from a more emotional perspective it's the urge to be close to your blood and to get along. It probably stems from the biological advantage of wanting to be close to your family for protection advantages.

For me, as an afamilial person, I don't care for my family members any more than I would for a stranger. I don't actively wish them ill will. I just don't feel bonded with them anymore than I do the average person. In my case, this is likely related to trauma but that might not be the case for everyone.

The anattractional spectrum refers to relationships between people. I love sunsets, my pets, the rain and so many other things. However, my types of attraction to human beings are limited.

It can definitely be lonely. I think it's more lonely because people don't understand. I'm entirely happy the way I am but people's lack of understanding/knowledge and people's expectations of what I should feel are very restricting.

I live my life differently and experience things differently but that doesn't make the quality of my life less.

Cishet aromantics are queer. Cishet asexuals are queer. Cishet aplatonics are queer. Cishet afamilials are queer. Cishet anattractionals are queer.

Aspecs are queer as hell and excluding them only isolates queer people from their community.

Been missing them a lot lately and they just make me so extremely soft. So cozy, cuddly, comfort ineffable husbands for it is- I deeply enjoyed making this and I’ve needed to just sit down and draw so desperately😭 they are so deeply important to me. Hope you enjoy.

Shoutout to people that DIDN’T become people pleasers or have a faun response because of their trauma. Shoutout to people who became argumentative, angry, mean, and lash out due to their trauma. Shoutout to people that start a fight every time they perceive something related to their trauma. Shoutout to people who fought back to their abusers. You are not a terrible person for having that reaction. Your abuse was not your fault. You are not an abuser yourself. You’re allowed to be angry.
