Excuses I've Heard For People Who Think Needing A Respite From Negativity, Activism And World Horrors
Excuses I've heard for people who think needing a respite from negativity, activism and world horrors is a "bad take":
Reeks of white privilege or privilege in general.
Not being an activist in every single space you exist within 24/7 is actively contributing to the continuance of the problem(s).
Some people never ever for a single second of any day get to have respite so neither should you.
All art is inherently political. All of it. Also art is therapy so you have to see it or you're a cunt.
You're a cunt anyway.
Did I miss anything out?

Its actually appalling how few pet owners have safety, evacuation and rescue training and plans in place for their pets.
"If you're a proshipper you should kill yourself!"
Sure, but I have social anxiety and I can't do it alone so I'll have to kill you at the same time.
Re: pet evacuation
I don't know how you'd do it with other creatures since I've never had any, but I've always trained my dogs to come find me immediately when they hear the fire alarm. Not too hard with food motivated creatures; give them a tasty treat whenever they hear a fire alarm and they'll learn to search you out real damn fast when they hear it. You start out more often so they learn what to do and what everything means, but now I just reinforce it every once in a while.
Sending this ask bc so many people are so daunted by how to approach this type of training that they just never do it; maybe it'll help take away some of the "holy shit how the fuck do I even do that" panic
Pretty much any animal can be trained via food. Animals are extremely motived by food due to the instinctual drive to eat to survive and eat what they can, when they can.
Training an animal just takes time, effort and consistency. In the future I'll probably compile a list of resources for people who are interested in training their animals with emergency protocols and desensitization.
Training your dog to come to you or go to the front door in emergencies is a good place to start
Is true that people might take less serious some irl problems because of the desensitization that they gained from fiction
(I hope that this question makes sense)
No. Desensitisation happens through prolonged exposure regardless of the source. However, desensitisation is not inherently the problem. It doesn't necessarily matter if something is no longer shocking because we are so used to seeing it. It matters that despite it no longer being shocking, we still acknowledge that it is wrong and is something we need to take action against.
For example, while photos of bombings and dead bodies may no longer give you the same shock value, you can still resonate with the fact that it is an awful thing, right? Its not shocking anymore, because you know it happens and you know what it looks like, but it doesn't disincentivise you from taking action.
We live in a world that is constantly barraging us with gore, violence, bigotry and death. Its only natural that after a certain point we may not have the same visceral reactions to it as we once did. However, it should not impact the choices you make regarding what you do about those things.
I'd never see someone gunned down in the street and shrug it off because I'm so used to action movies and Call of Duty. That's just not how it works.
my disabilities chilled the fuck out when i got out of my toxic household I recommend a space of calm for everyone
People are genuinely acting like if there is one single space in the entire world where you are simply allowed to be at peace with other people then society as we know it will collapse and everyone who isn't a multi-millionaire will perish.
