I want to ask about stoping the anti cycle.. I’m a people pleaser and had other proship accounts abandoned cause I let antis get into my head.. how do I know for sure this time I won’t fail again with this account and stay strong?

By simply recognising that you will never actually please those people. They do not care about you, and they never will, even if you "reform" and become "one of them."

You will also be the icky ex-proshipper in their eyes. You will always have to atone for the sins of your past. You will always be the wooden stakes upon which they light the sacrificial fire.

Nobody in the anti community can ever actually agree on what is and is not acceptable and where to draw the line. Its why the 'antiship AO3' crashed and burnt before it even took off. None of them could actually form a solid agreement on what was permissible and why.

Questions To Ask Yourself

If they're genuinely just trying to protect people, why are they using abusive tactics, harassment, confrontation and aggression?

What exactly are they hoping to accomplish by hounding you or harassing you or bullying you?

If the outcome of you deleting your blog because of them worth it? What is gained versus what is lost by allowing them to chase you away?

What are you teaching them by allowing them to bully you away?

Actually I'm gonna unleash my frustrations here a little bit and say that if you're doing a roleplay or co-authoring a fic and you find yourself embodying one or more of the following statements:

Only I can make all the decision and choices and anything you try to input I veto or aggressively challenge until you back down.

My character is the ultimate Mary Sue and yours has to pander to mine constantly.

My character is super super intelligent and talented and pretty and everyone loves them and they're superior in every single way.

If I'm not interested in what you just sent I'm going to send the most half-assed replies and passive aggressively hope you strive to meet my unspoken demands and expectations.

Super hyper stereotypes where my character is the super precious submissive uwu bean slut and yours is the mega possessive alpha muscle man dominant.

Sit back and consider if you should really be involving other people or acting that way.

(The last one may seem like personal preference but I usually find its inherently tied with points two and three.)

Antis are so obsessed with children that it's frightening. They shouldn't be that obsessed. It gives some thought. Were the antis really paedophiles?

The thing I've always found most ironic is the fact that antis often use "proshipper spaces are used to groom children!" as a gotcha tagline, while steadfast refusing to understand that their spaces are also used to groom children, abuse children and vulnerable people, and that antis have collectively shared more real life child pornography than proshipping spaces ever have.

I am actually begging some people to just let some spaces exist untouched by real-world issues and horrors.

Like I've lost count of the amount of times peaceful game or fandom servers have been ruined by people stampeding in with political rants, bitching about world issues, demanding internal activism, demanding vent channels so they can whine about their shitty parents, ect.

Like. Respectfully. Not every single space has to be inclusive of and welcoming of outside topics. The real world sucks. We don't needed to be reminded of that absolutely everywhere.

In fact, people need to remember that characters in gacha games are commodities no matter what gender. They are pixels. They don't care. Sexualisation of a male character is always encouraged among fandom. It's normal. Female sexualisation is a puritanical thing.

My brother in christ they removed a pant zipper because women were sexualising a male character. Women in fandom spaces are still constantly and routinely shamed for the male characters they lust after or enjoy. Women in fandom spaces are still constantly told they're "only in fandom to thirst after the male characters." Men fantasising about female characters is normal but women fantasising about male characters is cringy and desperate and pathetic.

I know video game characters are pixels. That's not the point. The discussion is about real people and how sexism toward the real people (women) playing these games is still present.
