Feminine Dread
feminine dread
an alternate face to the renowned feminine rage
aka sad girl core or feminine torment

ROMANTICISM MEETS EXISTENTIALISM

key attributes: crying in your room, late nights spent thinking, staring vacantly at the ceiling; never feeling like enough - not pretty enough, not female enough, not smart enough, not human enough, not kind enough, not tough enough. hot-girl summer sad-girl always. loner. standing at the margins. no one sees me, gets me.
i feel nothing and the weight of everything pressing over me all at once.
i'm a void, a crater, something carved out and left incomplete, something that's lacking.
a lifelong quest for something to fill this void but nothing suffices, it all just pours right through me.
my sense of identity is fragmented such that i've never held my entire reflection - some shard's always amiss. the painful absence impales me and leaves me gasping for breath, crawling and choking. the tension of a ghost limb, but the limb is something deep within me that i can't name or palpate. instead, it rattles like a can with a single coin, the echoes mocking the vacancy. i worry the outside world can hear it as i brush shoulder with strangers.
will i ever come to know the feeling of normalcy or was I only ever mean to exist like this? to feel like an anomaly? a glitch?

I usually don't distribute writing advice, but here's what I think new writers should know:
EVERYONE WRITES DIFFERENTLY.
I'm not kidding! Every piece of writing advice is 100% life changing useful to ONE person while being TOTALLY USELESS GARBAGE to a different person. Not only that, but YOU YOURSELF can write differently depending on what story or book you're working on! Not only is every writer different, but every book is different!
So that presents a problem, doesn't it? You're a new writer and you want to improve. You want to learn from the wisdom of those who came before you. How do you know which advice will work for you and which won't?
My first rule as a writer: know thyself. What do you like to read? What do you envision your work looking like? This will guide you in accepting or rejecting advice. It'll also help you find your voice.
My second rule as a writer: try it. Once. Give that advice a try but be willing to drop it like a hot rock if it's not helping or, worse, hindering.
My third rule: feedback from people who have actually read your work? Surprisingly helpful! But be careful to pick people who actually seem excited about the idea. A Debbie Downer can ruin your day and self-esteem.
My fourth rule: there are no rules. Go forth and have fun.
are we in agreement that spotify and pinterest are built off an obsessive need to categorize fleeting, however abstract, moods and feelings?

the whole point of fanfic is to read about a guy who is literally just existing and then everything goes wrong and then everything goes wrong and then everything goes wrong and then everything goes wrong and then he fucks nasty style and then everything goes wrong and then everything gets all cute for a moment and then everything goes wrong and then everything goes wrong and th- Chapters: 35/? writers,
I am curious as to what we tell ppl when they inquire about our writing endeavors?
do you blatantly admit to the 200k-word filthy, vile, collection of smut about a celebrity obsession?
do you casually work into conversation how you write dark fantasy with characters of questionable morals?
or even w/ romance, do you boast over your cheesy, cliche stories even though your own life is loveless and far from fantastical?
