Ravens Valley, from a Storyteller.

I’m not here to teach (or educate) anything to anyone but only as a reminder about the benefits of nature which, has its own limits. Wilderness cleans our air, filters our water and provides home for human as well as for wildlife. So it is crucial for humanity, which is already to blame, to bring radical changes today before it’s entire extinction tomorrow. That is my only intention here folks. Another one has been found during our last hiking trail excursion.

Now everybody knows that Pileated woodpeckers chip out large and roughly holes in trees while searching out insects; especially carpenter ant colonies and wood-boring beetle larvae.

But they also eat fruits, nuts, and many berries including the famous, Poison Ivy berries. Which is quite amazing.

Traditional old fashion snowshoes are still great for hard-packed mountain trails. But in soft snow, particularly when pulling toboggan, these are the best you can find for wilderness travel away from packed trails.

Even Mourning Doves are staying the entire Canadian Winter with us; as long as seeds can be found.
