Good Traits Gone Bad

Exploring good traits gone bad in a novel can add depth and complexity to your characters. Here are a few examples of good traits that can take a negative turn:

1. Empathy turning into manipulation: A character with a strong sense of empathy may use it to manipulate others' emotions and gain an advantage.

2. Confidence becoming arrogance: Excessive confidence can lead to arrogance, where a character belittles others and dismisses their opinions.

3. Ambition turning into obsession: A character's ambition can transform into an unhealthy obsession, causing them to prioritize success at any cost, including sacrificing relationships and moral values.

4. Loyalty becoming blind devotion: Initially loyal, a character may become blindly devoted to a cause or person, disregarding their own well-being and critical thinking.

5. Courage turning into recklessness: A character's courage can morph into reckless behavior, endangering themselves and others due to an overestimation of their abilities.

6. Determination becoming stubbornness: Excessive determination can lead to stubbornness, where a character refuses to consider alternative perspectives or change their course of action, even when it's detrimental.

7. Optimism becoming naivety: Unwavering optimism can transform into naivety, causing a character to overlook dangers or be easily deceived.

8. Protectiveness turning into possessiveness: A character's protective nature can evolve into possessiveness, where they become overly controlling and jealous in relationships.

9. Altruism becoming self-neglect: A character's selflessness may lead to neglecting their own needs and well-being, to the point of self-sacrifice and burnout.

10. Honesty becoming brutal bluntness: A character's commitment to honesty can turn into brutal bluntness, hurting others with harsh and tactless remarks.

These examples demonstrate how even admirable traits can have negative consequences when taken to extremes or used improperly. By exploring the complexities of these traits, you can create compelling and multi-dimensional characters in your novel.

Happy writing!

Prompt: "That's, what, your fourth cup of coffee today?"

As the demon emerged from a shadowy corner with a stolen mug in his grasp, the angel frowned.

"That stuff is bad for you, my dear," The angel gently lifted the mug out of his hands and placed it on a ledge, wrapping his arms around the demon softly, who let out only a strangled whimper in response, "Surely you've drunk too many; that's, what, your fourth cup of coffee now?"

The demon nodded slowly as lights and colours spun. Both knew it was only a matter of time until the caffeine hit, but for now, it was peace; as peaceful as it could be in a dingy corner of SoHo.

"Come along, my dear, let's get you inside," The angel curled his arm around the demon's thin waist and led him to the door.

However, when he turned, the demon was gone. In a burst of adrenaline, the angel declared under his breath as he hurriedly took a hat and coat from the door, "And thus, the game begins."

"Biden is funding a literal genocide!"

Yeah - and so will Trump. Like, if you don't vote for Biden, Trump will win, and he will continue to send aid to Israel - in fact, he will likely send MORE aid to Israel. That's the reality of the world we live in.

And, to be honest, any US president will support Israel. Because the USA is Israel's ally. That's how foreign policy works.

So who do you prefer?

Biden, who has helped lgbtq rights, reproductive rights, infrastructure, the environment, lowered medication costs, supported unions, and done MANY good, progressive things,

Or Trump, who we already know is awful. Who we already know will destroy any human rights Biden managed to gain. Who will not help the environment. Who will not help trans people, or immigrants, or women.

Because those are your two choices. And if you think they're the same, you are dangerous to all marginalized people.

It'll never not amaze me the depths and vast expansive-ness of Doctor Who spin-off content. Can any other fandom or show truly say that they have a 'universe' in the same way that Doctor Who does? You have decades of audio dramas, licensed, partially licensed, and unlicensed. Books about the main character, books about the main characters friends, books about timelines that never were or might have been! Movies with villains from the show and promotional shorts that occupy a secret third special place between plain fun and actual canon. Is all of it canon? Is none of it canon besides the show? Are only the bits we like canon? YOU decide, because you have decades and mountains and worlds to choose from.

Not to mention that this all gives fans the easiest in to make fan-content, fan doctors, etc and they do, hundreds of them! They have been for decades!

The Whoniverse is ever expanding, vast in a way that few can truly grasp onto, and you'll never be done discovering it. I'll never not be in awe of it.

... Howdy, Eve- ... Dramatic Sigh

※... Howdy, eve- ... dramatic sigh

※ Look, I KNOW I'm not the first Flowey you've ever seen, pathetically begging for 'asks'...

※ But this green nobody thinks talking to STRANGERS will "help me with my issues".

※ So, if you have anything you want to say, or ask, or whatever... go ahead.

(p.s: I'll make sure he doesn't hurt you!)

I found a coin on the floor of my science room and now I'm using that coin to buy candy canes for my friends, for charity. I'm just thinking about how that coin might have travelled the world and I'm just helping it on its way, maybe I'll find it again one day.
