But he was wrong

So now he’s drunk

And Xiao XingChen is 100% a giggly drunk

You were travelling with him and Song Lan

Song Lan had (Unwisely) left the two of you alone at the inn you were staying at, while he went to buy something

And XingChen wanted to have a drink with you

Now you were also a travelling cultivator who’d once belonged to a sect but had left

You shared the same ideals as the two men so they’d invited you to doing their expeditions

And you had

So you were now very close to both of them

But you and XingChen were slightly closer

Because he was in love with you

And (Surprise!) you were in love with him too

Even in such a drunk state, he was so cute

“Really?” He practically yelled before crushing you in a hug, burying his face in your hair and muttering sweet things to you

You just lay there, trying to process what had just happened

So with Sizhui, your first date was a small picnic in the backwoods of Cloud recesses

He had finally had the courage to ask you out, and had been ecstatic when you’d said yes

You were one of his best friends since childhood, and he’d known you for as long as he could remember

You were also a Lan Clan disciple, although your personality was somewhat closer to Jingyi’s, since you always had a slight disregard for the rules

So although picnics in Cloud Recesses weren't technically allowed, the two of you had decided to anyways

Sizhui had prepared everything

Since it was his first date ever, he’d wanted everything to be absolutely prefect for you

He had prepared a nice place for you to sit (coincidentally close to his father’s rabbits, so that the two of you could play with them), a nice basket full of food (and I mean good food, none of that cloud recesses tasteless slop), and a blanket for you if ever you were to get cold

Although he was nervous, he didn't let it show

When you finally arrived, he was very exited

He tripped over a few words and was blushing quite a bit, but other than that everything ran smoothly

So he hatches an entire plan of action to get him to fall in love with him

First you guys just wander around the market for a bit

Looking at the wares, and occasionally stealing loving glances at each other,

Although neither of you ever catch the other looking

Then you guys head to your favourite restaurant for lunch, which is entirely covered by him

During lunch he’s unnaturally nice, doing his best to make you laugh and smile

Although you noticed his change in demeanour, you didn’t say anything and simply chose to enjoy his presence

After lunch, you returned to the market

You browsed a little more before walking back to carp tower

By then it was already dusk

So the two of you went to sit in the pavilion where Jin Zixuan had planted lotuses for Jiang Yanli

1) How I feel about this character

So this one is not so complicated ngl. I love his looks, hate him (CLQ based looks ofc). He was the first person that I really thought was hot when I started watching CLQ, it was kinda ironic afterwards tho since he was replaced by XXC. So yeah he’s super hot, but... he’s a murderer. He’s evil, and yes ofc he has a sorta kinda reason but... No. I think his involvement with JGY was pretty fun to watch too, with the two of them as the villains and all. What really made me dislike him was how he ended XXC. Like he’s just dangerous. But he’s hot so...;)

Like who gave you the right sir? To be so pretty? Its illegal pls stop?

2) All the people I ship romantically with this character

Ohohoho here we go. I don't have anyone I specifically ship him with, although I have ppl I know I wouldn’t wanna ship him with. Xiao XingChen is one of them. I mean its nice to read fanfic about them but I would never want it to be canon (even tho it kinda sorta was?). I just cant bring myself to want such destruction to him u know? I could possibly ship him with JGY not gonna lie. Like two murder buddies? The dynamic would be intense and incredibly fun to see. That’s about it.

3) My non-romantic OTP for this character

I- I really like the idea of WWX and XY becoming close? Like WWX could help him become less crazed and maybe they could become good friends? They have pretty similar personalities so I think it may work? I would wanna see it.

4) My unpopular opinion about this character

Not rly about this character but I know its unpopular ish so imma say it. I ship Xiao XingChen with Song Lan wayyyyyyy more than with Xue Yang. Like its not even a question in my mind. I knowww what Song Lan did buuuuut Xue Yang did much worse so. Definitely  do not ship Song Lan x Xue Yang or all three of them together.

5) One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon

Um death before Yi City? Justice for Xiao Xingchen? Some kind of retribution better than what we got. But I think his character is super well done so I don't think I’ve got much to add really.
