Dave is very scared to start show affection to people. He feels like you’re going to hurt him or reject him in someway. That means you have to initiate the kisses. Being gentle and soft is the most important.

Eventually once he gets use to the small kisses and gentle touches of the hand, he’ll start to initiate contact and kisses. He’s always nervous of getting hurt in someway no matter how much he plays it off a ironic
