the term Mnemosyne is derived from the same source as the word mnemonic, that being the Greek word mnēmē, which means "remembrance, memory".

⤷ named after the Greek goddess of memory and inspiration (and also music, poetry and the arts, storytelling, languages). she was the mother of the nine muses and she was a powerful and important goddess. memory was a fundamental gift for the ancient Greeks. memory doesn’t only mean to remember but also to foresee the future. Mnemosyne was a very important goddess because of this. she was ‘the one who knows everything, what was, what is, and what will be’. she was as important as venus to the ancient Greeks. Mnemosyne had absolute control and divine authority over memories. she also helped the dead by allowing them to regain the memories of their past lives.

✎ In astrology, wherever Mnemosyne is in your chart, it tells you what you have remembered from your past life. Mnemosyne unveils and reveals. It shows what you took with you from your past life as some sort of ‘rememberance’. MNEMOSYNE IN ARIES / 1ST HOUSE — those with this placement are remembered for their boldness, fighter-like mindset, strength, bravery and leadership, most people with this placement especially in 1st house are remembered for their attractive appearance and beauty. their beauty is hard to forget, the type that stains your mind and never leaves. and you don’t want it to leave your mind, really.
