(Yes, I accidentally deleted this post when trying to delete another one π I decided to make a new one and have a better order of things? Whatever)
They're fictional characters on a fictional world where the whole plot is that a middle aged man couldn't go to therapy and has been raising children to dress in leather and go out at night to beat criminals.
And you are "concerned" about batcest.
How, out of everything DC as a franchise and fandom has, is Jason and Tim (for example) kissing the point where people draw the line? Why is TimSteph an exception but DickBabs isn't? Don't they both have families and have made clear they don't see Bruce as a father? Why is CassSteph fine but JayTim isn't? How come these moral clutchings of pearls are always focused on the same "bat kids" and never include Duke, Luke, Harper, Jean-Paul, Helena (both Wayne and Bertinelli)? What about Kate? What about Selina?
Then again, this fandom from OP here is the same one that has tried to burn Ra'sTim dow by calling it incest (as if Ra's al Ghul, a man whose family ties are as complex as his motivations, would consider the protΓ©gΓ©e of the man that dated his daughter, related to him at all).
Truth is: Almost no bat ship is going to contain any theme of incest. Most of them aren't related by blood nor were they raised together nor have they showed traditional familiar dynamics. Jean-Paul on the late 90s was actually wonderfully written on that topic, as we see him considering Babs an older sister figure yet being attracted to her (a feeling that was mutual, but not at the same time). Found family isn't about traditional and conservative family roles, it's about a group of people that find comfort of some sort together, and the nature of their relationships can be complex, dark, awkward and even painful.
Sure, as a writer, I do use the term batcest and find it funny to play with silly ideas about their messy group of people in latex that uses violence to cope. Rationally, however, we are talking about drawings on paper that have been played with by multiple people for years. Wonder Woman was born from the kinky sex life of some man and people eat it up but God forbid someone on the internet writes BruDick (which was a huge icon of the queer and homosexual community for decades!).
I'm way too tired to keep going, but honestly? One could make an essay on the awfully conservative tendency of new people in fandom for sanitizing content and labeling all media and putting characters in tiny boxes. You CAN'T come to a fandom that has been around for years (and made up mostly by queer people and women, btw!) and decide that YOUR subjective and biased interpretation is the only correct interpretation. This is not how fandom works and even less how media comprehension works.
HI I thought you'd like to vote on this poll!!!! Because I hate how annoying people can be (and yes I voted for yes and that's the propaganda I'm trying to give here lol) don't feel forced to! https://www.tumblr.com/bibibusinessman/745499108695048193/do-you-support-batcest-even-for-not-legal-batkids?source=share
Just did! Also, thank you for sending it. I admit I love having an excuse to write my thoughts on fandom, meta and interpretations of media. πβ¨

Estimated audience, I (immortal male) am dating a lovely young man (23). We are exquisitely infatuated with each other, and we shall marry next spring on my palace during a full moon as tradition dictates.
Nevertheless, it seems our families despise our engagement. While my fiancee and I hold no blood ties, he happens to be the adopted son of my youngest daughter's ex partner, who is also the biological father of my grandson. My fiancee and I do not care, and we don't agree with these complaints labeling us a home wreckers.
Yet I have found myself receiving false accusations coming from my very own children, who seem to not understand biology or psychology. My fiancee and I met at Paris winters ago, both of us in a moment where family was a bitter memory and we were looking forward to be our own people. It offends me when others dare to imply we fell in love to spite our families, as if we hadn't crushed into each other under the rain and suddenly realized what was missing in our lives.
This is, my estimated audience, why I come here to you and ask: "Is it incest to marry the adoptive child of your daughter's ex boyfriend?
Is it perhaps uncomfortable if my fiancee happens to be the biological son of said ex boyfriend's new wife (my grandson's stepmother?)?
And why would my fiancee and I be wrong, yet my grandson is considered adorable when declaring he will be the one to marry my fiancee?"
SizeQueenTwink F**k your boring family. Marry your fiancee!
CatholicAvenger I believe your family might feel that your relationship holds certain "incest" due to their very own relationships. However, as you said, there are no blood ties. People are just haters, my (ex) boss almost killed me when I dated his adoptive son.
AlienPrince Wait, how did you meet in Paris if he's the adoptive son of your ex son in law??? You never knew your grandson had a stepbrother/adoptive brother??? This sounds weird dude. How old are you??? π§
SizeQueenTwink Who caresssssss!!! Age is a social construct. I bet your fiancee is beautiful, intelligent & would adore a big silver diamond ring for the proposal β£οΈ
DemonHeir Well, maybe your grandson is worthier of your fiancee than you. Have you considered that, old man?

// Ra'sTim, All/Tim, omegaverse:
.
Tim didn't feel anything when looking at his baby. That had to be wrong, right?
Postpartum depression, as Leslie had called it, was quite frequent in omegas, such that the number of omegas who suffered it was somehow higher than the beta's.
But Tim's feelings had started way before giving birth to his pup. It had started the exact moment Leslie told him he was pregnant (which alpha of the Wayne pack was the father didn't matter). Tim had felt nothing but anger and sickness during his pregnancy.
In biological terms, Tim had gone feral.
They had needed to keep the baby away from Tim for weeks, Tim gone into a primitive instinct that was dangerous to the baby. Even nowadays there were still so many cases of feral omegas who -
The baby had been taken away. It had been for everyone's own good. Now...
Tim is taking five different types of meds, reading motherhood books, and trying to smile at the baby. It doesn't work, and Tim knows it won't work. Janet had suffered the same, perhaps a curse of their bloodline intended to end them.
It's not surprising that Ra's visits.
It's an early night, all bats outside in patrol (a privilege Tim lost ever since his pack decided he was to be a mother), Alfred busy in the kitchen. Of course Ra's would appear, that arrogant smile of his being the closest thing to bring a feeling to Tim's body.
It's - nothing.
As always, Ra's has been waiting in the shadows, perhaps even amused at the bats' game. Tim can tell that Ra's is satisfied, probably even overjoyed at his past words becoming true.
Fourteen months ago, Ra's and Tim had seen each other for the last time. And Ra's had laughed cruelly and coldly, saying that Tim wouldn't find happiness in that ridiculous pack of his nor in playing mother for them. But Tim was a bat, and he couldn't just run away with a villain. So, he had pretended not to listen.
Now they are here, with Ra's chuckling at the view of Tim's failed motherhood.
"I could fix this," Ra's proposes, a familiar warm hand cupping Tim's face, managing to make the omega feel, "If you come with me."
Tim looks at the baby he-feels-nothing-for sleeping peacefully. They don't even know their mother hates them.
"... Okay," Tim gives up. After all, he hasn't been a real mother. At least as an orphan the baby will hate Tim less.
"Good," Ra's purrs, carrying Tim off the floor, walking to the balcony & jumping away from the manor.
Tim knows it's wrong. But he can't bring himself to care.
