Hello, Ra'sTim fans!!! 💚
It is a pleasure to announce that finally, real life has given me enough of a break to release Ra'sTim Week 2024. The week will follow it's usual format (6 days with 2~4 prompts and 1 day totally free). If you wish to vote on the specific date of start, please visit our official Twitter page!
Extra information you might want to know:
The event is now formally Ra'sTim only (no 🔄)
Other Ra's/Bat ships aren't allowed in any level
Every work (no matter it's nature) must have the proper tags and warnings
Survey to filter the prompts to be used for this week will be released soon. It will be a Google survey and won't include most of the prompts already featured before (with exceptions such as genderbent & omega-verse)
AO3 collection will be released around 3~15 days before the start of the event, in case anyone wants to post in advance.
The event's purpose is to give love to Ra'sTim as a ship, so please, don't limit yourself to fic and fanart! Memes, edits, playlists and others will be shared and promoted as well. You can also write essays, make rec lists or even just share your head canons or ship dynamics you like for them (for this last option, we suggest using ship trope templates so that it's more visual!)

Hace tiempo estaba pensando, en como Ra's y Tim encajan en una temática al estilo "canterella" (de vocaloid). Ya sabes, en canterella, lo que parece ser una figura pública, y narrador de esta historia, cae enfermo de amor y obsesión por un ser al que no puede simplemente robar ó no puede actuar tan públicamente, así que la intenta seducir de manera discreta, con pequeños juegos, desde la sombra; aunque parece que la otra persona, la dueña de su obsesión, es consciente de esto y juega con el narrador de esta historia, nuestro narrador [en el que personalmente siempre pensé como un duque] presa del miedo de perder a la dueña de sus pensamientos y lujuria decide le quitara la oportunidad de rechazar lo, así que la envenena y la "encadena" (de manera metafórica y literalmente) robando su última opción (y abusa de esta persona)
Algo similar pasa con Ra's y Tim de todas formas, en los nuevos 52, Ra's intenta por todos los medios posibles obtener la lealtad de Tim, pero, el joven detective no es como los otros, no bastan pequeños juegos bien elaborados o alagos endulzados, necesita algo más, pero, no lo consigue, Tim juega de la misma manera que el, destruye su equipo y lo abandona, así que Ra's no permite que, por decisión propia, lo abandone por completo, decide matarlo, para así poder quitarle algo a Bruce como a Tim. No es tan raro, es la misma dinámica de Esmeralda y Frolo "se mía o arderas" mejor dicho, quédate conmigo o se castigada por no hacerlo, perece con la muerte.

Primero que nada: NO TE DISCULPES!!! Adoro poder hablar con los demás, especialmente en español. Simplemente me llena de alegría poder escuchar (leer) a otras personas. Me recuerda que hay gente leyendo lo que escribo, y que somos más que simples likes y tags.
Ahora sí, sobre Ra'sTim: Efectivamente, tienen una vibra a Cantarella. Curiosamente esa canción la he sentido tanto Ra'sTim como JeanTim, pero siento que con Ra's hace más sentido todo el tiempo, y no solo cuando está abrumado por su lado "oscuro". Ra's no es un hombre acostumbrado a que le digan que no, y Tim es alguien que disfruta la atención y de enrollar a la gente en su dedo. Es difícil saber quién es el gato y quién es el ratón, pero es claro que Ra's siempre estará dispuesto a llegar más lejos, o al menos eso pienso yo.
Me es difícil tener una visión *establecida* de cómo se desenvuelven. A veces siento que Tim, consciente de que Ra's tiene debilidad por él, comienza la seducción a propósito (quizás como un juego, quizás en serio, quizás queriendo algo a cambio). Otras veces creo que Ra's simplemente iría a por Tim y se lo robaría. A veces pienso que ambos quieren lastimar a Bruce, y a veces pienso que les da lo mismo. Es tan complicado, pero creo que si algo tendrán siempre en mi mente y letras es que están obsesionados mutuamente.
Ra's, el hombre que quería vivir para siempre. Tim, el chico que solo quería morir. Amándose con crueldad y pasión, como cuchillos clavados en el corazón.

I hate to say it but GOD pompous pep is what I wished Ra'sTim was 😩🥵💕 the yearning, the desperation, the bitterness, the sarcasm!
The way in which Vlad *will* have Danny whether the boy agrees or not, and the way in which Danny won't stop getting himself inside Vlad's life in a selfish, bratty attitude disguised as hero work.

1. What made you ship it?
Okay this is such an easy yet complex question. I have looked back and realized I was writing past/implied Ra'sTim on my fic notebook back on 2014 (give or take) when I was newly done reading Red Robin. I'm unsure exactly *how* is started because before 2020 I had been on an extreme Transformers fixation, and my memories are fuzzy. I believe I was shipping Ra'sTim as a background ship without fully realizing I was doing it (it should also be noted I started as a KonTim religious fan, and grew into a JayTim girlie). I actually read two of my fav Ra'sTim fics back in those years (around 2014-2015), which were in Spanish, but they had a Ra'sTim portrayal that would mark my views, as the characters make the dynamic very different to the most popular ships in fanfom.
It was at the beginning of 2020 when I went back to DC, and funnily enough climbed quickly from JayTim to BruTim and started writing an ongoing fic. While doing so, I re read past fics I remembered I used to love, and went back to read comics as well. Suddenly, after reading Red Robin again, I was looking at Ra'sTim through different glasses. And it was something happening to me in many levels, as I was also getting a bit away from Kon & Jason and more into characters as Babs & Jean-Paul. I wondered what *more* there could be to Ra'sTim, and started reading more of Ra's. As I read and explored Tim in my writing, I realized I wanted them together.
I'm unsure about how to call it. The feeling was almost of enlightenment, like suddenly seeing something that has always been there yet for some reason you couldn't distinguish its shape. Perhaps being a Megatron/Starscream shipper helped, because I saw the potential of Ra'sTim and decided to explore the possibilities and their tones of gray.
At first Ra'sTim wasn't my main ship (although I was already writing it), but as I explored them, the more I felt it was a dynamic that came naturally to me, and scenarios I found more enjoyable.
The more I read their comics and explored them in my writing, the more they felt *right*. Perhaps it was meant to happen, as I can admit they fall a lot more into my tastes in fiction. Ra's as a character drives me insane with his potential and lore, and Tim stays as my favorite bat boy and who I believe changed the Batman mythos.
And yet, everything was born from a simple panel. "You are a very dangerous young man."
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
Oh, this is a tricky one!
I like their dynamic a lot, as I'm an open immortal/mortal sucker. And that does play a huge thing in my view of them and why I come back to Ra'sTim again and again despite having other fixations. The fact that Ra's has such a complex background and is not your usual western interpretation of an immortal (let's say a vampire) is also a fav thing of mine, as I think it allows stories with him to leave usual storytelling and challenge beliefs about good & evil. The fact that he believes he's *good* and a hero is particularly tasty as well, and mixed with Tim's need for helping others and guilt when he's not useful to the world (and Batman), gives a wonderful meal.
Their size difference is extremely hot too.
Aaaaand having a canon mutual interest where they are connected in a mysterious, unavoidable way, it's a cherry on top.
Lastly, I adore their contrast as characters and how they will allow the other to win a little battle in order to win another. It's a game of cat and mouse.
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
I have unpopular opinions on most characters and ships. Some of them I feel comfortable expressing and others... Not much.
With Ra'sTim I have many of them, but mostly, it's that I loathe how other ship fandoms use Ra's as a random villain to hurt Tim and prop up another ship. For me, that's almost insulting, as Ra's is already a hurt character broken by many writers at DC. For me Ra'sTim it's never about "evil, mean Ra's hurting Tim because villains do that" and even less would I do it for another ship. I enjoy dark Ra'sTim, but never to hurt the characters.
My unpopular opinion then would be about the characters, perhaps. I don't see Ra's being cruel to Tim without reason, because in my mind, Ra's feels *love* and he cares for Tim. And Tim loves him back. They are just messy and won't communicate well, but that doesn't mean Ra's will go full evil and that Tim is a damsel in distress needing saving.
I don't see Ra's as an abuser. Neither do I see Tim as a helpless victim. And I believe this narrative hurts all characters involved without real motive besides wanting to prop up someone else and being too lazy as to read a less known villain or writing an original one.
Damian, in the backseat: "Timothy, why does my grandfather call you babygirl?"
Tim, driving towards a fire: "How about we play the silent game for a while?"
They're fictional characters on a fictional world where the whole plot is that a middle aged man couldn't go to therapy and has been raising children to dress in leather and go out at night to beat criminals.
And you are "concerned" about batcest.
How, out of everything DC as a franchise and fandom has, is Jason and Tim (for example) kissing the point where people draw the line? Why is TimSteph an exception but DickBabs isn't? Don't they both have families and have made clear they don't see Bruce as a father? Why is CassSteph fine but JayTim isn't? How come these moral clutchings of pearls are always focused on the same "bat kids" and never include Duke, Luke, Harper, Jean-Paul, Helena (both Wayne and Bertinelli)? What about Kate? What about Selina?
Then again, this fandom from OP here is the same one that has tried to burn Ra'sTim dow by calling it incest (as if Ra's al Ghul, a man whose family ties are as complex as his motivations, would consider the protégée of the man that dated his daughter, related to him at all).
Truth is: Almost no bat ship is going to contain any theme of incest. Most of them aren't related by blood nor were they raised together nor have they showed traditional familiar dynamics. Jean-Paul on the late 90s was actually wonderfully written on that topic, as we see him considering Babs an older sister figure yet being attracted to her (a feeling that was mutual, but not at the same time). Found family isn't about traditional and conservative family roles, it's about a group of people that find comfort of some sort together, and the nature of their relationships can be complex, dark, awkward and even painful.
Sure, as a writer, I do use the term batcest and find it funny to play with silly ideas about their messy group of people in latex that uses violence to cope. Rationally, however, we are talking about drawings on paper that have been played with by multiple people for years. Wonder Woman was born from the kinky sex life of some man and people eat it up but God forbid someone on the internet writes BruDick (which was a huge icon of the queer and homosexual community for decades!).
I'm way too tired to keep going, but honestly? One could make an essay on the awfully conservative tendency of new people in fandom for sanitizing content and labeling all media and putting characters in tiny boxes. You CAN'T come to a fandom that has been around for years (and made up mostly by queer people and women, btw!) and decide that YOUR subjective and biased interpretation is the only correct interpretation. This is not how fandom works and even less how media comprehension works.

All ninjas are constantly visiting Tim in the throne room to show him their drawings, new weapons, ideas, anything! Tim always smiles and claps, telling them "Good job, sweetie!"
Ra's allows it because Tim being "a mom" is low-key hot, plus, productivity has gone up.

I'm probably making up things but I have been thinking about how Tim's relationship to the Batman and Robin mantles resemble the one of a noble lady to her title back in the golden era of monarchies.
Like a lady, Tim can only be Robin as long as a Batman allows it.
His title taken from him by whoever man takes the Batman cape, as Tim has no right to it due to his status. Tim can only have what the Batman will allow, whether it's little (Jean-Paul) or simply nothing (Dick).
Something something Tim loses his status when Bruce dies and the only way he can do anything it's with the support of a marriage (the deal with Ra's) and yet Tim's crucified over it.
... Ra'sTim in Red Robin being basically a convenience marriage. Tim who can never inherit the Batman title, condemned to have Robin only as long as the Batman allows it. Yes, he's a child of the bat but that means nothing when it comes to inheritance. So he must get his power by marriage, and who better to give him that than the most powerful and dangerous king to ever exist?

Idk how to put this on a way that makes sense outside of my mind but to me Tim is Persephone, protected apprehensively by Bruce and spending the days between his flowers and friends.
There's Kon, who shines in golden inheratinace just like Apollo. He's born of a tragic love, his mother never the queen that sits next to Superman.
There's Bart, blessed by Hermes and the winds. A kind, strong soul that craves to see the world.
And there's Ra's, just like Hades, of course. Unkillable, king of a land that you can't come back from. His mere sight condemns people and a favor from him will grant you eternity. His wealth is infinite, and he moves through shadows, noticed until it's too late and his sword has made justice.
The myth, as expected, follows its path. And the little bird who lived between flowers and was loved by the sun and wind, becomes queen to the king.

So that cover of Damian playing soccer has me thinking about an AU where Tim and Ra's have never met before.... 👀
Tim is the omega child of Selina, who just started dating Bruce, Talia's ex husband. But Talia and Bruce are on good terms, and have given Damian a very nice childhood. Talia has been mainly supported by her dad, alpha Ra's, who has been a widow for over 20 years now and focused on his family ever since. While they're all aware Bruce is dating Selina, there has been no proper introduction whatsoever between the three families (the al Ghuls, the Waynes and the Kyles).
Until one day, during a soccer game, Damian's team wins. This ends on a party, which Talia and Ra's attend gladly, congratulating the 9yo pup on his discipline on the sport. Damian then introduces them to Jon, his best friend in the team, and Jon introduces Talia and Ra's to the couple that went to watch him in the game: Kon and Tim.
Kon and Tim aren't actually a couple, they are just very good friends since forever, and since Jon's parents are off the city, Tim agreed to make company to Kon and encourage little Jon so that the pup wouldn't feel left out. Kon is Jon's half older brother, child of Clark's previous marriage, and Kon really didn't want to be alone at Jon's game.
So, yeah, long story short: 9yo Jon points at Tim happily and says Tim is their neighbour, and that he likes Tim very much because he makes very good cookies. Tim giggles, shaking Talia's hand first and then promising Jon some cookies for winning the game. Damian asks if he can some too, and suddenly there's a whole conversation going on between all of them except Ra's. Ra's, whose brain just stopped working at the sight of such a pretty, mesmerizing omega.
He regains composure quickly, smirking with certain flirting when Tim turns to see him, blushed and ashamed. "I'm sorry, I didn't greet you!" Tim murmurs with a nervous smile, hurrying to take Ra's' hand. The alpha takes it, but rather than shake it, he dares to take it up his lips, giving a soft kiss to Tim's knuckles.
The omega gasps, cheeks red.
"Don't worry, Timothy. It's a pleasure to meet you."
The mutual interest doesn't go unperceived by anyone, but neither Talia nor Kon approve of it, and avoid letting the two love birds alone. In the end, Ra's has to go to extreme measures, and discretely give a note to Damian with his name and phone number, sending it to Tim via the pup's hands, who is easily bought with the promise of ice cream for dinner.
Tim and Ra's starts messaging each other, and for a few days that's all they do before Ra's asks him out on a date. But funnily enough, just the day before their agreed dinner, they run into each other at a park, Ra's babysitting Damian and Tim babysitting Jon again. The two pups go and play together, giving Ra's and Tim the perfect excuse to sit together under the shadow of the trees and talk for hours.
Anyway, I might write this properly later, but for now this is it. Of course this is followed by Ra's and Tim going out for a few weeks, having fun, kissing... Until Bruce has his engagement party to Selina, and Tim discovers the Damian pup Selina mentioned that Bruce had, is the same Damian that he just met. It's awkward, and it brings some tension to all the families, to the point both Ra's and Tim consider breaking up... But their love's stronger, and they decide to stay together even if it's difficult.
In the end it's funny. They laugh at life's coincidences, and Damian is their supporter number 1 (they bought the pup with sweets and toys). For the rest of their lives, they are very happy to have attended that children's soccer game.

Everyone voting against Ra'sTim have no taste. NOTHING slaps as hard as the most dangerous man of earth being the one who believes you. Tim accepting Ra's' help because he's alone, he has nothing to lose, and yet in Ra's he finds someone who *believes* him, someone willing to help.
It's a game, sure, but both of them like to play. It's a dance, where the first one to show weakness won't fall to death, but rather, fall in love.
It's an exquisite flirting. Swords, fire and promises.
Plus, it's kinda poetic. The man who wants to live forever in love with the boy who wants to die.

An antagonistic relationship with mutual manipulation, grudging respect and occasional murder attempts. Hot older man trying to seduce a young sidekick to the dark side. The hilarity of Tim becoming Damian's step grandfather. I just think it's neat.
