I didn't start wearing perfume regularly until I was like 24 so people who are into the whole fragrance world to the point that it's a hobby are like powerful wizards to me.

I love this list so much because it adds so much verity to scents in the omegaverse. My personal favorite scents (From my favorite candle) are sea salt and lily, lavender, old books, and the smell of bread.

Thoughts on Scents

So I wanted to just give my thoughts on some interesting scent options, because no hate to sandalwood, it seems like everyone always smells like it in fics. And since I also have an indie perfume obsession, I wanted to share some scents that may broaden people's horizons. I may do a part two depending on how well I like how this turned out.

Pine resin, with hints of wood smoke, and warm brandy.

The smell of damp fresh earth after a summer rain.

Palo santo, dry desert grasses, and sage

Amber, laudanum, and frankincense

Tobacco, burnt grasses, with hints of citrus

Pine needles, forest floor, and stone

Saltwater, ambergris, fresh rain, beach sand

Stone, oakmoss, clay, and wet concrete

Animal fur musk, mulled wine, and a cold winter breeze

Freshly washed linen, lemon cakes, and black tea

Coconut, dark rum, and sugarcane

Leather bound books, a dying fire, and cedar

A crisp fall evening, apple orchards, and toasted marshmallows

Magnolias, Spanish moss, and honeysuckle

Sun warmed earth, tomato plants, and iced tea

Cactus flowers, sweet grass, and wood dry vanilla

Lemon grass, heliotrope, and sugar cookies

Dead leaves, dry hay, and cognac

And that's no even touching on all the different kinds of plants, flowers, and foods. I could go on for a very long time.

I was working at the perfume counter once and my new coworker was like, 15. We were just chatting it up about the new fragrances between customers and she said that one of them was "very sexy" and i was like "oh?" because it was kinda light and fruity and not really what I think of as sexy, but she misunderstood my tone completely and thought I needed the concept of sexy explained to me. So she did. I got the talk from a high schooler in a crowded mall.

indie brands:

olympic orchids - woodcut (literally smells like fresh cut wood in a lumberyard, almost sweet in a sweet sawdusty way)

firebird perfume - blood cedar (citrusy earthy wood)

olo - palo santo (inspired by/smells like palo santo wood with other earthy notes)

hexxennacht - bois (just a solo note of wood, very light and more like a lumber type of wood)

non indie brands:

comme des garcon - wonderwood smells like peppery wood to me, pretty classic men's wood cologne

diptyque - tam dao smells like fresh cedarwood and creamy sandalwood, airy, a little fancy

a perfume for every herb/green plant note + spices + woods/trees

previous: fruit/berry & flowers

challenge for me to pick an iconic perfume for each note. the perfume may not necessarily smell strongly like that note but it is an important part of the composition. (for example - pineward's hayrid has real hay made into the scent but it also has lots of other notes mixed in) for the other lists i tried my best not to repeat a brand within a list, but i might not be as strict this time!!
