Boris the Valiant Heart, serves as the game tutorial boss. He is a powerful knight, wielding a legendary sword capable of calling forth lightning. He was the first and only person to ever succeed in subduing the calamity.
He is long gone by the time the game properly starts, but his legacy remains, forever shaping the world he fought to save.
Making some early tests for the final boss moveset. Let`s see if it's balanced. "get instantly obliterated" ...maybe a bit overtuned.
I realised i didn`t post this here so here this guy boss intro. Its probably my favorite so far.
Progress on the game has been slow but steady. Since i started working on the penultimate boss last night, here a sneak peek of it. To be frank the main reason im showing this one is that It's at such an early and unrecognizable state that it barely qualify as a spoiler.
Since the weapons are collected and upgraded from defeating recurring mini-bosses, i try to implement their quirks into the boss moveset whenever possible. In the case of this guy, from his second fight onward, he is able to vary how long he charges his shotgun depending on where the player is moving.
Violet Rockwood is the right-hand woman of the grimwood hag. Her mid-boss fight isn`t too difficult but i like how it incorporates height unlike most bosses and enemies who tends to be grounded.
Been looking back at my old post and just wanted to temper expectations by informing that this form won`t be in the game after all. I just couldnt get the concept to work and went with something different instead This fight now joins the old duck animation in the hall of memories.

Hey! I just finished playing through the first area and I'm curious, is Mordred's limbs becoming invulnerable during phase 2 an homage to the Castlevania Dracula fight?
I wouldn`t say any boss in the game is a direct reference or hommage (other than to some of my older stuff). Stuff like invincible limbs is more of a general trope. Mored has a bit of a messy history in general. The original idea was that he would start to do acrobatics in phase 2 and the limbs would move independently and act like mobile hitboxes that you would have to dodge and shoot around, but the concept ended up not working as smoothly as i wanted and i had to compromise with something much simpler. The fire attacks were basically a late addition to make up for the lack of those elaborate physical attacks.
Remember how i described that in the fountain, one of the factions encountered was a race of tiny bug people (elves) with advanced tech? It came back in my mind that i had already conceived of a boss for that section so here a quick sketch to share it.
Who knows, maybe ill bring it back in some form in another project.
The chieftain of a small nameless village and first boss of the game. She originates from the wind korugues, a race of nomadic giants, now rare and dispersed across the fyreland. Like many of her kind, she despises flamebearers and would rather die than concede to their whims. Neither her wits nor formidable strength should be underestimated.
Notes: Wind korugues will incorporate the clothes of the culture they meet amongst their own. The chieftain herself can be seen wearing clothes and jewels referencing hill, river, forest, plain, and some yet unnamed korugues cultures.
