the villain(ess) and the commoner
this is from the ship requests over on twitter, as i take a short break from drawing the hunting dogs. i genuinely had fun with this and it was a breath of fresh air i definitely needed for the sake of my art journey.
[id: bungo stray dogs fanart. includes the ship "ranpoe", which consists of edogawa ranpo and edgar allan poe. ranpo is shown to be carrying poe with both hands, while beaming proudly at poe. poe is shown to be holding on to ranpo by his shoulders and looks severely flustered by the gesture. they are wearing clothes based on the light novel / manga entitled "the villainess wants to marry a commoner!". ranpo is drawn to wear the same commoner attire as ursch-kun, from the light novel. from what can be seen, he wears a plain white button up, baggy brown pants that stop at his knees, black stockings and brown boots. poe is drawn to wear the same gown as isabella, from the light novel. instead of the blue gown, he wears a wine purple gown that matches his hair color. a part of his hair is also tied up to a flower-shaped bun at the right side of his head. /end id]

flats and inspiration under the cut!

inspiration (thank you @rosepandan for giving me the idea!): "the villainess wants to marry a commoner!" light novel / manga

I Hate to break this to you, But BSD ain't a Romance and isn't romance oriented so, No ships would be canon. The closest that we have to canon and Romance are the One sided crush ships like, AkuHigu (Akutagawa x Higuchi), AtsuLucy (Atsushi x Lucy) and TsujiAya (Tsujimura x Ayatsuji.) So, yes, It is a "Everyone is beautiful and Noone is Horny" type of thing.
I'm so tired of generic straight romances - pretty Mary Sue x pretty Gary Stu, I-lost-someone-I-loved-romantically-and-that- defines-my-entire-life-and-interactions-and-I-will-never-ever-be-happy-again, the love interest always being pretty with clichéd coolness and sassiness (especially if they're female), that love can only be felt towards good - looking people especially pretty females, etc.
If any of that nonsense is the only (most probably hinted) romance to happen in BSD then I'll be so disappointed. Because so far, BSD has avoided quite a few of these asinine tropes even in some of its potential straight ships, has avoided the travesty of romantic love and love in general that modern media perpetuates.
If BSD has romance arcs / hints that turn into another example of 'everyone is beautiful and no-one is horny', that will be such a tragedy. The excessively conservatively heteronormative section of the fandom is ruining BSD's intriguing, unconventional gay ships, female characters and unconventional straight ships as it is.
I think types of memes are stupid, What the hell is a gay ship for straights anyways?
I personally don't ship Oda and Dazai because I just can't Oda catching romantic feelings for someone he knew when they were 16, and in the new Light novel, This man was contemplating whether he should smoke in front Dazai or not. Because he saw Dazai as a kid. For context: (Oda was 21 when he met Dazai who was 16 at the time)
I like their relationship platonically, If I were to see it in a romantic lense, I can only see it being one sided in Dazai's side. And Not reciprocated in Oda's side. I guess it's just hard for me to believe that Oda would date someone who he knew when they were 16 and saw and described them as just kid. Only to start hitting on this kid when he turns 18. :/
I just don't see it. but that's just my opinion though.
a personal summary

Japanese doomed yaoi

French doomed yaoi

International doomed yaoi

Natsume: *to Fukuzawa and Mori* Da-- I mean, become partners.
Mori: *to Dazai and Chuuya* Date-- I mean, polish each other like the diamonds you are.
Dazai: *to Atsushi and Akutagawa* Date.
Atsushi&Akutagawa: DAZAI-SAN?!
I want to say I'm sorry for this but... I'm not.
One thing Zenki Soukoku, Soukoku, Shin Soukoku pairings have in common is:
Right person, wrong time.
Is Ayatsuji and Tsujimura's ship name literally just Tsujitsuji?
