the villain(ess) and the commoner

this is from the ship requests over on twitter, as i take a short break from drawing the hunting dogs. i genuinely had fun with this and it was a breath of fresh air i definitely needed for the sake of my art journey.

i know this is about asking for my thoughts and hcs but i wanted to draw ranpo from memory so here u go c:

ok so this is coming from a fan who stopped catching up with bsd for like months. so forgive me if i miss details about ranpo, i'm still getting back into bsd

thoughts below the cut

he's a first fav! i got into bsd because i genuinely thought it was a detective solving mystery anime... nevertheless, i found ranpo cute and clever!! i'm usually drawn to the detective types and his straightforward way of going things is so entertaining and admirable for me, who relates more to poe who's more complicated in going about things...

ranpo's interesting to me because while he is confident in his skills and lets it be known to anyone and everyone who comes across him, that confidence is also fragile to me?

we're introduced to this image he's built over the years, but overtime, these pages were the most memorable to me whenever i think of ranpo

his confidence feels so solid until you take a closer look and realize that confidence can't survive without other people to validate this image he built up. it reflects such a common human experience for me and to me, is what humanizes him?

he's so good at what he does! he's skilled and that skill saves his found family plenty of times! as well as many civilians! and he clings on to that accomplishment as his sole identity most of the time

this is not just a fear of what he doesn't know, that second "i don't know" is so personal, as if his identity is shattered because for once, the very thing he's good at can't solve the situation in front of him.

if you ask me, the most intriguing thing about him is how he carries himself, how he carries his identity.

onto hcs!

insane sweet tooth but has times where he's picky on the sweetness level of the dessert he gets

doesn't have textural issues with food, but may struggle with combined flavors in his food ("if it's sweet, it should stay sweet! if it's salty, it should stay salty!" those flavors cannot mix into one food item unless it's savory food)

keeps a comb in his pocket to style his bangs as spiked out looking as possible! probably gets gifted said comb by mushitaro so he can take care of the knots in his hair

does not care about personal space but may feel one way or another about someone suddenly invading his personal space

loves to give oddly specific nicknames to his co-workers at the agency to remember them better

Kunikida has one of those prize boxes that teachers let students pick from if they're doing well

But at the ada

Whenever a member is doing well he'll give them a little ticket that says "Kunikida prize box" and their name

And they can trade the tickets for prizes

The prizes are basic things like fidgets, colored pencils, crayons, ect

He hides the box and some of the members (COUGH COUGH DAZAI AND RANPO) know where he hides the box, but they don't steal from it because Kunikida checks the box at the start and end of the day to count everything

If Kunikida find out that someone stole from the prize box he takes the prize they stole

Also next time they deserve a ticket Kunikida looks them dead in the eye and says "See now I WOULD give you a ticket, but on" *checks notes* "may third you stole from the prize box. So you don't get a ticket this time."

BSD + Pokemon Pt. 1 (ADA+PM)

And by this, I mean- like- each character I know well enough, I give them a Pokemon (singular or else I'll be overthinking it all) =w= It's just a thing for myself to scratch that part of my brain. Assigning them a single Pokemon that compliments them. Which might lead to some vagueness.

Other than that! Lets go-!

ADA

Fukuzawa: Kleavor (Not my greatest idea, I kept thinking about "It either has to be about something similar to katanas/swords, or make it cats". Which I cheated at because Kleavor has axes for goodness sakes. If I were to give it the option, I would have given him Aegislash or a freakin *Litten.* "But Lavender, there's Kingambit-" YES. I KNOW. BUT TRUST ME, THAT ONE HAS OTHER PLANS. *cough- fukuchi- cough-*)

Ranpo: Skwovet (Snacks. Just... snacks. Ranpo can deduce cases just fine, but ohs to the woes, he needs more places to stash his snacks. Bam. These babies. But if he wants a Pokemon to enjoy snacking with, Morpeko is the second choice. It's either stash is or eat it, bois.)

Yosano: Blissey (Blissey knows your location. Blissey is approaching your location. Blissey is at your frontdoor. Blissey offers you an egg in these trying times. [ . . . ] Look it's either Blissey incoming or Hattrem incoming, an egg or an smack, pick your poison.)

Kunikida: Indeedee (This one took me a second to figure this one out. But after thinking of a small few, Indeedee was what I chose with the idea of them helping him and his work. The other two were Espeon, Minccino/Cincchino, and Meowstic.)

Dazai: Absol (Now I hate reusing the same Pokemon [I wrote this stuff out of order hhh], but without spoiling too much, while Absol is known for sensing danger, in Dazai's case it would be that they "bring forth" danger. But other than that, if I did go with my unwritten rule, I would have given him Alolan Ninetails because ahahahaa kitsune dazai agenda)

Tanizaki: Hisuian Zorua (Illusionssss. Illusion buddiessss. And to make it a play on words with snow, I made it be Hisuian form because they spawn in the icelands.)

Kenji: Gyrados (I was planning on giving Kenji Sunflora because he is sweet summer child, but at the same time... my boi can hit like a semitruck. Not to mention the cute story that he caught this very weak Magikarp in his village, took care of it, and the next thing you know this kid is giving their [looks at pokedex] "the literal embodiment of tsunami if angry" on a walk. The absolute humor, guys. The *hinjinks*. That or I go with the trend of him bringing a cow to the agency and give him a Miltank.)

Atsushi: Growlithe (Surprise, we have a Growlithe. This is the closest thing we have to a tiger in Pokemon. Unfortunately, its shiny isn't white but yellow. You can decide whether or not this little Growlithe ir a normal or shiny, but in my hc it's just a white tiger variant of Growlithe LET ME LIVE MY DREAM-)

Kyouka: Froslass (All I could remember before looking at the Pokedex entry was that it has something to do with a soul of a woman, and jus- *Gestures vaguely at Froslass, Demon Snow, and the fact that Demon Snow was previously Kyouka's mother's ability)

Mori: Ursaluna (This one gave me MAJOR trouble trying to figure out. My guy's a doctor, but at the same time is the big mafia boss man. The only other Pokemon I could think of were either Bewere, Drampa, or Dragapult, I don't know why I thought those Pokemon specifically. So I just threw everything out, looked at Fukuzawa's Kleavor, went onto the Hisui Pokedex, grabbed Ursaluna, and yeets it at the man. Ursaluna. God-)

Chuuya: Midnight Form Lycanroc (Angry red pupper, emphasis on red. Yeah, I had to, I am not sorry.)

Kouyou: Milotic (Powerful but also very beautiful ◡‿◡ . But at some point, I thought about Lurantis. )

Akutagawa: Mimikyu (This was in my notes before, but yes! Mimikyu. The popularity battle of Mimikyu v Pikachu is similar to Aku v Atsushi. Other than that, Mimikyu was the closest to being compared to Rashomon, with their shadow arm.)

Higuchi: Heliolisk (Unfortunately we are still unsure of Higuchi's Ability, if Asagiri does intend to give her an Ability. For now, though, I had to go off by her appearance. Simply grabbed black, white, and yellow. Looks at all the Pokemon, and decided on Heliolisk. And to be honest, I like it. Dunno if it's just me, but this Pokemon and Higuchi with her sunglasses on? Heck yeahhhh.)

Hirotsu: Meowstic (A secondary option to Kunikida, I decided to give Hirotsu Meowstic because I think the Pokemon and his Ability are similar. In my head, Hirotsu's Ability is basically an impact or what it is explained, "repulsion". And with Meowstic, it holds their physic power back by their ears. But if provokes and have those ears raise up, it'll unleash that power that it "powerful enough to obliterate a 10-ton truck or tanker to dust.")

Gin: Ceruledge (I wanted Gin's Pokemon to match Akutagawa's in some way but have there be blades. Took a look at Mimikyu's typing which was ghost and fairy. In fairy, Iron Valiant. In ghost, Ceruledge. And while, yes, Iron Valiant looks pretty like her, Ceruledge takes the cake.)

Tachihara: Steelix (Is the only reason I give Tachihara Steelix is because he can manipulate metal, and Steelix is... s-steel type? Yeah I'm not that creative. But if it makes ya feel better, I instantly thought of Onyx or Steelix for this guy.)

Q: Banette (One, it's a doll. Two, similar to Q [in a sense-], Banette was previously a doll that was abandoned. I was thinking about giving this one to Lucy, but I think I could find a Pokemon best suited for her. So Banette for Q!)

Kajii: Voltorb (The only reason is explodey bois. Anyways-)

BSD + Pokemon Pt. 1.5 (ADA + PM Extras!)

I ran out of space on the last one... So here's more! And since it's a shorter list, I don't need to place the 'keep reading' bit WOO-!

ADA

Katai: Rotom (An electric Pokemon for Katai's electric Ability, but very much a helpful companion when it comes to Katai's work as an information broker, even though he's now a former member of the agency. And for the funies, they could either be just like Katai and like to doze or the complete opposite and be like a puppy with zoomies.)

Naomi: Zorua (To match Tanizaki's Hisuian Zorua, really-)

Haruno: Eevee (She just seems like an Eevee girl to me. If I were to give her an Eeveelution though, I would have give her Leafeon.)

PM

Oda: Absol (compliments Oda's "Flawless" with him able to see six seconds into the future and Absol able to detect danger by their horn. [note, I wrote this one before I wrote Dazai's])

Ace: Carbink (One word but several synonyms. Gemstone. Jewels. Crystals. Ya get the gist-)

Verlaine: Midday Form Lycanroc (To more or less match with his color palette [by that I mean his hair] and as well as Chuuya's Lycanroc)

Rimbaud: Pumpkaboo (I dunno, it just seems to fit the man. And- uh- also I took the fact that IRL author is a French poet, and Kalos is Pokemon's equivalent to France, soooo… I cheesed it, I'm sorry.)

Albatross: Revavroom (I'll be honest; I don't know much of the Flags, mainly their personalities, so I'm purely going on the bsd fandom wiki. And here, it says that Albatross was responsible for the mafia's vehicles. It was either this ghost car engine or Cyclizar… O-Or either Koraidon or Miraidon… hm-)

Doc: Litwick (Yes, the Nurse Joys in the anime have the usual Pokemon as their assistant, but they can have other Pokemon. And seeing Doc's description, Litwick seems like the best option when it comes to: "desipite the amount of people he had saved, he had also purposely robbed as many lives in his line of work". Basically Litwick's flame absorbs life energy.)

Iceman: Marshadow (Looking at it now, reading his personality after his occupation, Marshadow seems like the best candidate. Marshadow can merge well in the shadows, keeping itself hidden from people. And in Iceman's description in skills>stealth: "Iceman had the expertise of blending well with his surroundings like a shadow.")

Lippmann: Ninetails (Staring at that man's face, and the fact that he was the one dealing with public relations in the mafia, a really fancy Pokemon suited him. And it came down to Ninetails, Florges, and surprisingly Frosmoth. Unfortunately we don't have them in color BUT we have STAGEPLAYYY, and Ninetails definitely suits this handsome man.)

Piano Man: Gimmighoul (My guy deals with crafting supernotes. Money. Gimmighoul may be a coin, but is the closest to money in the Pokemon universe. So give the funny man a coin for his troubles. I was actually thinking about giving him Chien-Pao, but that's pushing the hc/au[?] that he and Atsushi are related [yes I am on that bandwagon, I adore that hc/au please gimme more unless I write more])

and ye =w= I'll likely do the Guild tomorrow. I already have some ideas for a few of their members, and maybe a few extras as well, maybe the Special Division folks and--to hell with it--Mushitarou ^^

ZZZ!BSD

( . . . ) Yeah, it's gotten to the point where my addictions(I forgot the word for this stuff) collides and- just- I couldn't help myself.

Nothing really special, just if the organizations of BSD are factions in ZZZ (even though it's stated in the zzzwiki that the factions are organizations themselves-) BUT THEY HAVE A COOL LOGO TO GO WITH IT.

The next bout of inspiration that comes to me I would the Port Mafia (I already have ideas though but I is tiredd)

I like to think at some point if Kunikida feels like quitting the ADA, Katai will encourage him not too.

I’m pretty sure Kunikida didn’t even have a tragic backstory prior to joining the armed detective agency, everything that’s happened to him since joining the ADA is his tragic backstory.

I love the visuals for this season’s ending. The flowers, and the characters, they all look gorgeous.

I can’t listen to music without assigning songs to characters and character pairings. It makes me sad but I can’t stop.

Why did nobody tell me that making their clothes would be hard? (they did, I just ignored them)

The only thing keeping me going right now is that the new chapter comes out on Sunday

In the new chapter Chuuya looks beautiful. Bram is a wonderful new father figure for Aya, and in February we will get the tragic old man yaoi chapter

Sometimes I get scared that my interest in bsd is going away, but then I get a notification saying that one of my favorite content creators posted something and then I go crazy from pure excitement and joy.

Today is the one year mark of me starting bsd and I can’t believe that i’m still just as obsessed
