[12:07 a.m.] the night is young but here you are, barely able to form a simple sentence as you stumble over your own two feet, the after-effects of the alcohol weighing you down quite heavily. it’s a fucking amazing thing that you are not alone, though, because helping you unlock the door and enter your shared apartment is none other than your (ridiculously attractive) roommate yoongi. the man’s a music producer and when he gets a call to come to the club from anyone else, he flatly replies, “no, I’m busy,” before proceeding to hang up the phone. however, he has a different set of rules whenever you’re involved. that’s why when he saw your caller ID and picked up the phone, your friend answered, “yoongi? y/n’s plastered off her ass, you need to take her home.” he didn’t think twice before securing his jacket and driving over to pick you up.
as soon as you enter the doorway, you push yourself past yoongi and beeline over to the couch. you pop yourself onto the cushions and lazily blink back at him, and you can tell that he’s exhausted. his eyes are a little droopy, and his face has gone pale but truth be told, he still looks like the most angelic person in the room.
“wait here, and don’t move,” yoongi instructs and goes into the hallway. a few moments later, he returns with a bottle of water. he sits directly in front of you on the ground and he hands you the bottle of water (after opening it for you like the gentleman he is), before proceeding to undo your shoes. You stare down intently as he unbuckles the heels, and you can only think that no one has cared this much for you in a long time. after your shoes are removed, yoongi looks up at you. “what’s going on, y/n? is everything okay?”
you’re nervous now because you don’t know what to tell him; you’ve had the craziest revelation that has been eating away at you for who knows how long. how in the world do you tell your roommate that you’re in love with him? eventually, things had to boil over which is what’s led you to make the worst decision which was to drink more than you can normally take. you can’t imagine what rejection would be like from someone that you live with, so you decided against telling him. however, now that he has presented this question to you, all you can do is whimper and look at him with teary, red eyes. “I can’t tell you,” is all you say, and his eyebrows furrow. “I won’t push you. but let’s get you ready for bed, okay?” his hand reaches to wipe your tears, and for a second his palm lingers, warming up the side of your face.
he helps you up and walks you to the bathroom, closing the toilet lid for you to sit down on. he reaches for your makeup remover wipes and begins to clean the various layers of cosmetics from your skin, with a touch so gentle it’s as if he’s cleaning a porcelain doll. “yoongi, can I tell you something?” you whisper, the alcohol beginning to dilute in your system. “of course, sweetheart, anything.” you look directly into his eyes and let out a long sigh. “I went out drinking today because… I don’t want to hear a rejection.” yoongi blinks back, confused. you continue, “I like you. a lot. as more than a friend. and I don’t want to know if you don’t like me the same way, because then it’ll be weird and we live together and it’s gonna make you uncomfortable then I-” you stop talking when yoongi places an index finger to your lips. “you’re rambling, y/n,” yoongi’s ears are tinted red and you can see that he’s nervous: his gaze is darting everywhere and he’s constantly licking his lips, perhaps looking for the right thing to say. he always knows the right thing to say.
“I like you a lot too, y/n. I have for a little while now. all I need you to know right this moment is that I would never reject you. ever. for now, though, let’s get you changed and in bed, we can talk in the morning, okay?” you know he’s not just dismissing you because you see the sincerity in his eyes and you just hope he can see it in yours, too. he grabs your hands and walks you to your room where he gathers some pajamas and lets you change. once you’ve finished, he tucks you into bed but before leaving, he sits on the edge of it and gently strokes the top of your head. “goodnight, beautiful. I will see you in the morning.” he smiles down at you and bends over to leave a searing kiss on your forehead that you swear you can feel for the rest of the night after he leaves to his room. tomorrow’s very much anticipated on your end and on the other side of the wall, yoongi can’t help but fantasize about what awaits him the next morning as well.
