Capitalist Hell - Tumblr Posts
Someone asked me about my retirement plan. I'm in my mid-30s, and when I answered "a bottle of vodka and a tall bridge," they laughed. I did not.
Definitely worried about both of my folks. Getting health insurance for one with my dad, and my mom grinding herself down too.
Still throwing shade at capitalism and the American oligarchy for a lot of its crap. We need a better system.
Reblog if your parent or parents are working themselves to death and are slowly being grinded into the depths of hell that is capitalism.

Activists in Tasmania have stuck up more honest promo stickers inside Coles & Woolworths stores, the two dominant supermarket chains in Australia.
nightmare scenario idea: music becomes like tv/film is now, and instead of having every song virtually available at your pleasure, there are now multiple sites and apps that all have different corners of the music market, sorted by stuff like their record company, and they all have different payment plans
There are too many monster fuckers and not enough monsters. Something about supply and demand and the capitalism of monster fucking ??
One side effect of my research for this novel being steeped heavily in textile history is my swelling disgust with modern fabrics.
Firstly they're so thin? Like most things you see in Old Navy or even department stores might as well be tissue paper?? Even some branded sports t-shirts I've bought in recent years (that are supposed to be 'official apparel' and allegedly decent quality) are definitely not going to hold up more than a year or two without getting little holes from wear.
This side of even two hundred years ago fabrics were made to be used for YEARS, and that's with wearing them way more often because you only owned like three sets of clothes. They were thick and well made and most importantly made to LAST. And they were gorgeous?? Some of the weaves were so fine and the drape so buttery we still don't entirely know how these people managed to make them BY HAND. Not to mention intricate patterning and details that turned even some simple garments into freaking ART.
I know this is not news, the fast fashion phenomenon is well documented. Reading so much about the amazing fabrics we used to create and how we cherished and valued them, though, is making it hard not to mourn what we lost to mass production and capitalism. Not just the quality of the clothing and fabrics themselves, but the generations of knowledge and techniques that are just gone. It makes me what to cry.
I need to get a sewing machine.
While exploring the evolving search habits of Americans, we discovered a surprising trend: Over 2 in 5 have used TikTok as a search engine. Consumers most often turned to TikTok to search for new recipes, but they also frequently searched for new music, DIY tips, and fashion advice. This shift was particularly pronounced among younger generations, with 64% of Gen Zers and 49% of millennials saying they’ve used TikTok as a search engine. Gen Zers were also 29% more likely than millennials to scour TikTok for new recipes. And even more striking, nearly 1 in 10 Gen Zers preferred TikTok over traditional giants like Google for their search needs. Another surprising find was the new chatbot on the block, ChatGPT. Over 1 in 10 consumers turned to ChatGPT to search for information, with 1 in 20 going as far as asking it for personal finance advice.

I assume since they’re vampires they just go into their species’ traditional industry: being landlords

They really will do anything but HOUSE the unhoused.

It will track YOUR every move. But not his. That would be preposterous. He’s a rich ghoul.
Remind me again why we have billionaires?

The owning class has a phrase for this. They call this “nobody wants to work anymore”

+bonus:

My wife works for our local hospital, who's now started AUCTIONING OFF THE CLOSER SPOTS. They haven't recieved raises since before COVID, there will be no holiday bonus.
They've cut staffing, and the staff who's left has had their own pay cut while taking on the work of the cut staff. And they're auctioning off closer spots.
The parking garage is a 5 minute walk from the building (on busy days sometimes more). Those with the money to be frivilous and PAY for a close spot will get them, while those who work the hardest, and are the most burnt out will have to continue making that walk.
Because again, this is an AUCTION! My wife and her coworkers in the lab actually running your tests WILL NOT be able to out bid those in upper management who've cut her pay. The nurses interacting with you all day WILL not be able to out bid the doctor who sees you for five minutes and tells you you're imagining your symptoms.
This is it I think, the final stages of capitalism, right? When do we start rioting in the streets?
Goal “used to” be to protect from climate change, “now” it’s to overthrow capitalism as if protecting ourselves from climate change doesn’t require opposing you know. What’s causing climate change.
“She SAID she wants the world to stop burning, but what a hypocrite! All she ACTUALLY wants to do is get rid of all the arsonists!”

Sorry, I could never be a capitalist, I suffer from “wanting humans to have their basic needs met” disorder, where I care about people who aren’t me.
