This makes me think... so the public school system in Australia actually intends to make people hate learning and therefore go get a low paying job and stay in poverty and therefore submissive to the upper class... Also, by this logic our government system is designed to keep the poor in poverty, keep them in shitty jobs or not having one at all, beating them down either way, ruining their self esteem, driving people to literally unalive themselves (see: centrelink robodebt, it was a real thing a couple years ago and had a lot of casualties), drive up the prices of housing and food to the point people are living on the actual streets while the rich get richer and more tax exemptions, systematically breaking down the average person until they're completely submissive, and if you want to have a chance of escaping this cycle and go to uni for something you can make money off, you'll likely be in debt to the government for the rest of your life and you're at their mercy because they could turn around and demand that money back at any moment or even create more debt just like the robodebt hell that Aussies went through a while back. This society is designed to benefit the rich, keep down the poor, keep the poor uneducated and hating the very thing that'll get them out of it (learning), stop them from thinking about just how hard they're getting fucked by the system, while the rich slowly siphon every cent of funding from things that belong to the public such as the NDIS, public hospitals, and public schools into subsidies and benefits for the already rich, the greedy fuckers that keep demanding more for no other reason than that they just *want it*. Also, the public mental health system is designed to break down down mentally ill people until they can't take it anymore and either give up or unalive themselves, breaking them down with medications that don't work and drug them up to their eyeballs to keep them placated and obedient to the system. The psych wards are designed to be violent, awful places, leading people to either spend what little they have on private health insurance (hence the minor subsidies that make it slightly more affordable), but even then they're not much better most of the time and are still designed to break down the mentally ill because they're "unstable" and are probably the most likely to lead a riot against the system and therefore need to be controlled the most. Meanwhile, politics and ideologies are mostly distractions that are meant to keep us fighting with each-other, to stop us from uniting against the system and tearing it down once and for all and making one that actually benefits the general public and not the greedy rich motherfuckers that pay to train themselves and their offspring to more easily fuck the rest of us over. That's one hell of a theory, dude.

this is so on the nose

Very tired of hearing about what the intentions are. If a system constantly produces a different outcome than the one it is "intended" for then it's perfectly reasonable to assume the actual intention is the outcome it continues to produce.
beginning of quoted article below reads as follows:
The purpose of a system is what it does
The purpose of a system is what it does (POSIWID) is a systems thinking heuristic coined by Stafford Beer, who observed that there is "no point in claiming that the purpose of a system is to do what it constantly fails to do." The term is widely used by systems theorists, and is generally invoked to counter the notion that the purpose of a system can be read from the intentions of those who design, operate, or promote it. When a system's side effects or unintended consequences reveal that its behavior is poorly understood, then the POSIWID perspective can balance political understandings of system behavior with a more straightforwardly descriptive view.

there’s a big difference between “food waste” as in “farmers destroy tons of food to avoid exceeding quotas” or “supermarkets throw away this much edible food because it doesn’t sell”
and “food waste” as in “it is not actually within the capacity of humans to perfectly predict and track household food consumption, so a certain amount of food per household inevitably goes bad and has to be thrown out every year”

in the latest cyber-news: the internet archive has lost their case against 4 major publishing houses (verge article). they’re going to appeal, but this is still a bad outcome. the fate of the internet is currently hanging in the balance because 4 multibillionare publishing groups missed out on like $15 of combined revenue during the pandemic because of the archive’s online library service. it’s so fucking stupid.
for those who don’t know what the internet archive is, it’s a virtual library full of media. books, magazines, recordings, visuals, flash games, websites - a lot of these things either don’t exist anymore or cannot be found & bought. heard of the wayback machine? that’s part of the internet archive. it is the most important website to exist, and i don’t say that lightly. if the internet archive goes down, the cultural loss will be immeasurable.
so how can you help?
boycott the publishing companies involved in this. they’re absolute ghouls, frankly, and don’t deserve a penny. the companies involved are harpercollins (imprints), wiley (imprints), penguin random house llc (imprints), and hachette book group (imprints). make sure the websites are set to your location as it may differ worldwide.
learn to torrent. download a torrent client (i recommend transmission), a vpn (i recommend protonvpn - sign up and choose the area that’s closest to your continent/country), and hit up /r/piracy on reddit for websites. with torrenting, you can get (almost) any media you want for free in high quality, with add-ons such as subtitles, and with no risks of loss. i would also recommend getting into the habit of watching stuff online for free. the less you can pay to a giant corporation, the better.
get into the habit of downloading and archiving materials. find a TB external hard drive, ideally the higher the better. it’ll probably cost around $60 for 1TB and continue to go up, but they’re so so useful. if you can’t afford a drive, look for any GB harddrives or memory sticks you have lying around and just fill them up. videos, pdfs, magazines, songs, movies, games - anything you can rip and download and fit on there, do it, because nothing is permanent.
donate to the internet archive. this is the most important option on the list. the IA relies entirely on funding, and it’s going to need more to fight this case. whatever you can donate, do it. i promise it’s helpful.
and finally…

It should be illegal for companies to own single family homes and no I’m not kidding

The owning class has a phrase for this. They call this “nobody wants to work anymore”

'you wouldn't pirate a-' i would steal anything from any company. anything in the world. i dont even want it i just hate you
Nintendo’s forced scarcity bullshit is getting on my fucking nerves
i shouldn't be surprised anymore but it's always deeply disheartening to find out a precious artefact from your childhood that has since been lost to time is now selling for mega doodoo prices. i know the gba is technically "retro" at this point and the passage of time will just make that more pronounced but come the fuck on man.

Stomach hurts, head hurts, heart racing, can't focus. I've been bit by the caffeine gremlin again. Why do they lie about what does and doesn't contain caffeine? This isn't the first time this has happened. First was the root beer, then it was the PC brand carbonated Moscow Mule carbonated water. How is this legal. Total caffeine content from all sources should be displayed on the label, not hidden behind "natural flavors" this has given me trust issues with my food and I hate it. I've been trying to quit for months and the symptoms keep returning. I pray it won't be as bad as last time
Always say as little as possible!
I do have one quick correction though. You should never disclose your medical history to an employer, keep that to yourself. However it’s not HIPAA. HIPAA is specifically for health insurance providers, healthcare providers, and other health industry entities. Your employer asking about health conditions is a violation of the ADA, not a violation of HIPAA.
This seems like a nitpick but I once had to sue an employer for discrimination (I won!) and believe me, the corporation will use your ignorance to their advantage. If you claim the wrong protections when you are bringing up your case they are going to chew you up.
