Cdramas - Tumblr Posts
Somebody asked, but I accidentally deleted the anon ☹️😤 I’m so sorry. Also my apologies for answering this so late.
Basically, they asked me what are the dramas that I’ve watched. Truth be told, I didn’t start watching dramas until this year, but I do have a list. I don’t exactly remember when I started watching them (I wanna say somewhere in May) but I don’t think I’ve watched a western-media show or movies this year. These are listed in the order I watched them and I’ve indicated their region and where I watched them.
I won’t be putting summaries or thoughts here because…. that wasn’t the question 😑 plus, I’m not the best at summaries. If you would like to know my thoughts on any of these though, don’t be afraid to ask 😊

The Rise of Phoenixes (Chinese) Netflix
The Yin Yang Master (Chinese) Netflix

Squid Game (Korean) Netflix
The King: Eternal Monarch (Korean) Netflix
The Guest (Korean) Netflix
I don’t know why I’m drawn more to Chinese dramas, but I am and most of these are actually historical dramas (I have many reasons why I’m drawn to these). Also, it doesn’t matter where the film or series is produced (western, asian, whatever) I usually travel between dramas based on similar actors. For example, Wang Yibo was in The Untamed and Legend of Fei. Gong Jun was in Word of Honor and Begin Again. Chen Kun was in The Rise of Phoenixes and The Yin Yang Master. I don’t always watch them right after one another, but I have a huge list of dramas I want to watch and many of them have actors that have been in dramas I’ve watched. Also, contrary to popular belief (especially bc of this list💀), I’m actually not a huge romance watcher, but I do think it has grown on me since I’ve gotten a bit older.
I’m sorry if my blog is misleading at the moment. I did have an idea for what I wanted to so on here, but I’m kinda scared now. Anyways, I’ll get back to you on this topic.
I’m going to make a list of Kdramas and Cdramas I’ve watched and link it in my bio so that in case you’re curious as to what I’ve been up to; you can check that periodically. I fly through shows in general pretty fast so it’ll get updated constantly. I just wasn’t sure if people wanted to keep hearing about them all the time. I do have a draft about a kdrama too, but I’ve been a bit insecure about it lately 🥲. But I’m will get that list up very soon and if you look through it an want to ask me something, don’t be afraid to. ☺️
Hello,
Welcome to my list of all the Asian dramas I’ve watched. I go through shows pretty fast so it will constantly be updated. I have the title of the drama, its region, and where I watched it listed below, in the order that I watched them. If you have any questions about any of the dramas or my opinions on them, don’t be afraid to ask 🙂

DNF- did not finish 😔
Rarely, do I not finish a drama. But there have been a select few that I’ve started and either couldn’t get into or something happened along the way that I dropped it. I haven’t been keeping this from the beginning so there probably a couple not on the list. I want to keep record of it now. It’s possible I may try to watch some of them again, but we’ll see.

One of the big differences I've noticed from getting into Chinese dramas is how spoiled you get from gifsets of shows you've never watched. You see a gifset from an American show of one person cradled in another person's arms, pierced with multiple arrows and spitting blood, and suddenly you've been spoiled for a major character death. You see the same thing in a Chinese drama and you've gained a net zero information wise.
sal's c-drama & j-drama recommendations :D
disclaimer: this is an EXCESSIVELY long list of 10 dramas (8 in Mandarin & 2 in Japanese) which I love with all of me with little summaries given just as an intro to them, this was a very quickly typed list as a friend wanted recommendations so enjoy ~~
sO firstly we have 3 of Aaron Yan’s dramas because I am a very big simp:
Fall In Love With Me: Drama about this one cocky arrogant SMART CEO dude Lu Tian Xing and his sorta identity crisis when he dresses up as Xiao Lu who is our resident cute-smart nerd (with abs) cause he wants a break from his life & wants to live 'normally' for 3 months. He comes across a film company: OZ & decides to freelance for them & yeah a lotta things happen there, the climax is pretty strong & I wanted to bite my fingers off outta frustration at times but THANKFULLY it all works out in the end…..or does it? ;)
This is a fairly old drama though so things are different here and there~ bonus though the actor who plays the main lead has ACTUALLY sung ALL songs from this drama like there's a literal album of his called DRAMA so yee we have an allrounder on our hand folks-
Refresh Man: A 2016 drama which I mainly watched cause Aaron looked EXTREMELY good in it plus his CEO trope continues but with a lil high-school to office workers to lovers romance in it so woo. Refresh Man is about Ji Wen Kai & how he helps his ex high-school best friend Zhong Yutang get an ego makeover & helps her by switching her position in the office from the head secretary to a rookie saleswoman and humbles her basically. Sales team 3 & their friendship with each other progresses a lot because of Yutang and it's refreshing lmao, overall it’s a really cute drama with meanings and flashbacks and the ending is satisfying too~ PLUS the kiss scenes are prominent and so is the whole past-future comparison for the 2 leads~
It all starts off because Ji Wen Kai used to be this dude who used to get zeros in all his tests & Yutang used to be the prefect and THE perfect student. They were opposites and now fast forward he’s the new CEO of the company that Yutang works for so she’s shocked for sure & her life is turned upside down by him, in a very good way :’))
Just You: So this one is from 2013 where his hair is the most questionable thing throughout the entire show but yeah, once again we have an uptight serious CEO called Qi Yi with a lack of emotions/love in his life because of his past. He sets this rule of ‘No Office Romance’ at his company literally on his first day when he steps into the office and our female lead Chen Liang Liang tries to break/do away with it with a plan of trying to make him fall in love with her only so that her best friend and her bf’s relationship isn’t affected.
Which what a friend DAMN but yeah that’s the basic plot and then comes the past as the climax along with his family issues which also come through at the same time. It’s all frustrating during that time but it sorts out. All this while BOTH the leads are forced to live under one roof :) A lotta incidents and chemistry with this one, in the show and the bloopers too and boy it was too cute~
then we have the general classics which are:
I Hear You: My first cdrama !!! About this kinda cold hearted enigmatic violin maker Ye Shu-Wei and the bubbly, fun-loving aspiring voice actress Bei Erduo who are forced to fake-date & take part in this couple's competition for money. It’s a pretty chill drama with no stressful conflict & I'm definitely biased towards it cause their height difference is cute and the way Er Duo changes him is also cool, it's a simple & sweet which I loved so yeah :)
Meteor Garden: QUITE THE FAMOUS C-DRAMA , I personally like this version better than all others, 50 episodes though that’s tough to complete but it’s a lovely journey all the way so~
Meteor Garden is about a girl from the countryside named Dong Shancai who enters this famous as hell, rich people only university Ming De and comes face to face with F4, four famous dudes who shouldn’t be messed with, with different points of attractiveness etc etc & takes all of them for a ride.
Shancai is a strong stubborn female lead who carries the show so well?? She’s pretty cool and the way Si is ready to support her anywhere anytime is heart-warming. I’m a sucker for one of the dudes from F4, Lei has my entire heart <//3
The main lead, Dao Ming Si’s hairstyle is messy but iconic & does become WAY better in the end. This show explores different relationships between it's characters like enemies to lovers, almost lovers to best friends & showcases a lotta bonds between people & how they grow because of them which is amazing. It’s hyped for a reason & I know why now ~
My Unicorn Girl: So yeah remember Lei (Darren Chen) from Meteor Garden? He’s the lead in this one!! The name is kinda weird but it makes sense by the end, this drama is about a girl named Sang Tian who disguises herself as a guy to join the boys ice hockey team because her school doesn’t have a team for girls and our hero Wen Bing is the main talented player BUT with a special condition of face prosopagnosia which means he can’t identify faces & we discover that it is HER kiss that makes him see them clearly.
A lot to unwrap there with the disguises & his condition which no one knows about and some other stuff cause they’re both roomies but this is definitely one drama I’ve come back to on multiple occasions, it’s available on YouTube with subtitles & I'd definitely recommend it ~
Find Yourself: SO THIS ONE IS PRETTY DIFFERENT. It definitely surprised me. Find Yourself is set in a more adult-ish office world with romance between an older female He Fanxing (ONCE AGAIN CEO whoops I'm seeing a pattern here-) lead & younger male lead Yuan Song which is what makes it so cool. Like their romance highlights the stigma about may-december relationships in Asian society.
Like the way the fl acts in the relationship vs the ml and the way they are different yet help each other grow is very cool. It's fascinating and like idk it was very different from the high-school romance which I’m used to, I loved it a lot. Plus the actor (Song Wei Long) is WHEW- what a guy ;))
Like the mans knows how to kiss properly?? One more dude I’ve simped for in the past, his next drama is also under the list below, find yourself is one I keep coming back to and it’s one of the 3 I’m currently rewatching :)
Go Ahead: THE EPISODES FOR THIS DRAMA ARE ON YT WITH SUBS SO muah *chef’s kiss* but to me it was kinda scary at first cause we have a ‘brother-sister’ type of relationship which is the romance part of the show BUT NOT REALLY CAUSE THAT’S….NOT exactly appropriate but yes the 2 leads aren’t really brother sister, they’ve been close since childhood so they are termed that way~
Go Ahead is like a true slice of life drama which is about a family of 2 fathers & their 3 children, 2 brothers (Ling Xiao & He Zi Qiu) and 1 sister (Li Jian Jian) and how they deal with being a family through time. The 2 fathers whose wives have left them in different ways : Ling Xiao who is Ling Heping's son, Jian Jian who is Li Haichao's daughter & Zi Qiu who was abandoned by his mother.
Go Ahead shows the ups and downs they go through as the 3 siblings have to grow up and make their own life but eventually come back home and connect with each other after being apart and stuff, once again the height different is so cute?? And the siblings indeed help each other go ahead in various aspects of life, the ending is extremely precious & wrapped up so well.
There’s also a movie called Love The Way You Are with the same actor as Go Ahead + Find Yourself (Song Wei Long) and that’s adorable too, it can be found on YouTube!
That’s a wrap on the 8 c-dramas HERE COME THE TWO sexc interesting J-DRAMAS because I’m fairly new to them but they hit different and it's not just because of the language but also the plots are crazy as both of them are based off mangas :))
Kimi Wa Pet (You’re My Pet, the 2017 one!): Very inch resting name, the story is even more so lmao, it’s a remake cause I haven’t watched the older one plus this is a LIL more modern which I like that BUT YES, it’s basically about this perfect, working boss lady Sumire Iwaya who struggles with romance because she’s awkward like that & mostly busy with work. She takes in this 20 something year old aspiring ballet dancer Takeshi Goda one night after coming back home drunk just because he in a way resembles her childhood dog Momo :))
Yeah it’s questionable but they both live in her apartment & he’s her pet but not in too much of a weird way?? He doesn’t act weirdly but he’s just cute ig? People will realise it when they watch it I hope but it weirdly works & he basically helps Sumire become a better person at handling stuff cause she may look tough and perfect on the exterior, she’s sensitive on the interior so Takeshi/Momo helps her that way. I literally re-watched this last week because it’s THAT good :))
Kohi & Banira (Coffee & Vanilla): The most recent cause of my downfall, this drama is literally fanfiction in a show :) So many emotions for it and all of them are ballistic because of the main lead Fukami Hiroto (Dori Sakurada!!) & his existence. But yeah Coffee & Vanilla, WOAH.
About a naive 20 year old student Shiragi Risa (Haruka Fukuhara) who has been living in the city for a year for school, she’s from the countryside but doesn’t know how to blow off guys cause she’s too cute and pretty? Thirty year old CEO Hiroto (DILF ALERT) saves her from being extremely uncomfortable & harassed by this guy pestering her so she has dinner with him and gets drunk for the first time & passes out and next morning they’re dating so yee, it’s crazy progressive but in a good way :))
This drama can be finished in just 5 hours, the entire drama mind you because it’s only 10 episodes and each is 30 mins long BUT FAIR WARNING things DO get steamy very often and Hiroto is sweet but dominating so WHEW. Loved this one, so much screaming & confusion for this one, my brain cells were on fire but in the best way...I would give it a 69/10 lmao MUAH what a wow.
so yeah that was that, thank you for coming so far if you did, much appreciation & best wishes for you!! each of these dramas did leave major impressions on my heart all in positive ways so I hope they do the same for you ;)) <3
