Chinese Study - Tumblr Posts
I find this very educational and insightful.
Creating situations and conditions
English added by me :)
I used to get super confused by these when I started learning Mandarin, but I promise it gets easier every day if we keep practicing!
书 vs. 本子 – Books
Another little differences I was taught by Yoyo this week!
书 / 書 / shū / book; full-length
本子 / běn zi / book; short, a few pages
Examples:
书 = novellas/novels, textbooks, dictionaries
本子 = menus (菜谱 and 菜单), notebooks

Here are just a couple of Chinese Mandarin notes on some kitchen vocab
Today I learned something in the Chinese language that I think is pretty cool.
凹 means concave,
凸 means convex,
And then 凹凸 means bump/irregular as in an uneven/rough road. What I find cool about this is that each character matches its meaning in shape and that the translation to them is so literal.
Maybe it's just me who thinks this, but yeah, I think it's really fascinating for some reason that there are so many words similar by nature to these in the Chinese language!

I've just been diagnosed with chronic fatigue and for the past weeks I've just been so tired that doing some of the most simple things feel exhausting. I'm letting you know this out of frustration that I haven't been able to keep up with my chinese studies as much as I'd like to because of this fatigue. I think doing something more simple like watching some cdramas would be a better alternative to hard core study. I've never watched any asian dramas before but heard they can be helpful for language learning so I'm open for some recommendations!
Pls DM me or just lmk in the comments if you have any drama recs.
Love you all!<3<3

I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!
So at my school, there is a Chinese girl in my baking class that I've been getting along with for a while. She just moved to Australia earlier this year and speaks very little English just like many other students here at my school. Ive calculated about a third of my entire school is asian (many of which are Chinese international students) and on the senior campus, just under 50% are asian. Many of the Chinese students can't speak much English and they sort of just keep to themselves in their ethnic groups in classes and during break due to the language barrier. This one girl however, is the only Chinese speaking student in my baking class, and me, studying Mandarin, finally built up the courage to attempt "breaking the ice" with her; I wanted to practice my Mandarin with her so that maybe she'd feel more comfortable. Guess what? it worked! Ever since then, we've been having conversations in every class together, with her broken English and my broken mandarin, helping each other out along the way, making jokes, and even walking home together after a long day at school. Today she gave me a big hug and told me I was a good friend for the first time. I'm so, so happy.

Hi! I'm posting part 1 of the most common phrases heard in Mandarin Chinese dramas. I used a few YouTube videos to lesrn these if anyone is interested!
Cya in the next post, bye!<3<3<3

I've briefly gone over one on the main reasons I study Mandarin Chinese in the past, as well as some of my personal study methods, however, this post really goes into a bit more depth about my motivation and reason to study as well as a few more of my main tips and strategies that I use to study and take notes.

好久不见!
I've been exceptionally busy the past week so I've missed you all! Going over a few essential Mandarin Chinese vocab because I realized I'd somehow forgotten to post something so important.
Happy studying everyone and good luck!!

Hey guys, look at this chinese poem I found!
Hanzi:

English translation:
Shi's history of eating lions
Shi Shishi, a poet in the stone room, was fond of lions and swore to eat ten lions.
It is always appropriate to see the lion in the city.
At ten o'clock, the ten lions are suitable for the city.
It's time for Shishi's market.
Shi regarded the ten lions as ten lions, and lost his power, so that the ten lions died.
Shi Shi is ten lion corpses, suitable for stone chambers.
The stone room was wet, so the clergyman wiped the stone room.
The stone room was wiped, and Shi Shi first tried to eat ten lions.
When eating, the first consciousness is ten lions, which are actually ten stone lion corpses.
Explanation is a thing.
