to clarify about fan fiction
to clarify something chuck said in post about being PRO FAN FICTION, some buds have asked if i misspoke when i said ‘fan fiction is part of the original art’. i did not misspeak. i really truly believe this.
if i write a story and you read it an this moves you to paint a picture of snabe and harriet porber, that WHOLE EXPERIENCE FROM ME TO YOU is its own mixed media piece. the medium is motion (getting up and getting the paints) visual (painting) literary (reading the book in first place and then writing your own commentary when you post about it later). it is drama and performance. it is meditation. it is dance in its own way.
i very much mean this: art does not begin and end on the canvas or the page. it is what you had for breakfast the morning you wrote those words, or the story that stuck in your head after watching a show the night before. art is the buckaroo who was moved to pen a whole five page romance story about your characters having a kind picnic in the part.
we are here to create as we push back against the blank empty void, and we prove love is real every time we fill this blank space with little pieces of us. i will not stand in the way of that, and it is an honor to fill this space with this web of inspiration from one bud to the next. ALL OF THIS TIMELINE is a piece and we are one big writers room. there is no shame in this and it is a group project i am proud to be a part of.

Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle is fantastic. I loved the way it was written and all the references to different pop culture, but the ending was my favourite part by far. I won't spoil anything, but it felt empowering and inspiring. My favourite thing about Chuck Tingle is that you can tell he puts so much love and care into what he writes, and I really felt that with this book. As an aroace, I am so happy that I have Tara as representation because she's amazing

that is not an AFTERTHOUGHT with the book. when i set out to write BURY YOUR GAYS i was specifically thinking about the ace buckaroos who trotted with chuck and helped guide me through the first few NOT POUNDED BY BOOKS. i wanted to write something to honor their fight
Weird porn author who was dragged into Hugo Awards mess pulls off epic troll
For the second year in a row, a bunch of disgruntled “conservative” sf readers and writers are attempting to destroy science fiction’s Hugo Awards by nominating slates of works that are, variously: rabid racist tracts; works by their ideological opponents; tepid military sf; works by bystanders; and weird porn by Chuck Tingle, a master of the form, who has nothing to do with any of this.
Until now. When Tingle – who publishes “bizarre niche erotica” in great volume – discovered that his book Space Raptor Butt Invasion had been promoted to the Hugo ballot by spoilers hoping to discredit the award, he sprang into action. He created a new title, especially aimed at the “Puppies” (the two groups who want to kill the Hugos call themselves “Rabid Puppies” and “Sad Puppies” for fantastically tedious reasons you can look up for yourself if you care to): “Slammed In The Butt By My Hugo Award Nomination.”
Then Tingle took to Twitter, writing an amazing series of GIF-illustrated tweets, mocking Vox Day, avowed white supremacist and leader of the “Rabid Puppies.”
The crowning glory of Tingle’s campaign, though, was hisannouncement that his Hugo Award, should he win it, would be accepted by Zoe Quinn, the reigning bogeywoman of the Gamergate/neoreactionary right. In other words: every time a “Puppy” casts a vote for Tingle’s work, they cast a vote for giving Zoe Quinn a podium from which to address the entire World Science Fiction Convention about the importance of diversity and representation in fiction.
It is truly glorious.

Hi Dr. Tingle, have you ever considered writing a kids book? I think your combination of earnestness, whimsy, and a keen sense of the weird and wonderful would be a great combo for kids lit. Keep on being awesome!
yes i think it would be really nice to do a childrens book about a nice bigfoot or a space raptor but i would not want any buckaroos who were too young to accidentally stumble onto my other tinglers before that is appropriate.
solution i have come up with is that i could use a new pen name that is ALSO basically my name i already use maybe something like CHARLES T or something like that.
so yes i think i would like to do that someday i am just really dang busy at the moment but i think that would prove love and be very dang fun

greetings bud thank you for asking FIRST OF ALL want to say to you or anyone reading this post that i am not upset over this question and i am not upset with you. you have kindness in your trot and i know you are just asking to prove love in your own way. buds reading this please do not harass this person in fact maybe give them a follow or a like, they are trying their best.
OKAY NOW THAT IS OUT OF THE WAY i will talk on my feelings of this with simple statement:
this is not a bit.
i understand it can be difficult to accept this for some, especially in world where absurdity and cynical humor is so popular, but i am very sincere. even though i make jokerman jokes sometimes, even in my writing, tinglers are not supposed to be funny as a concept. if you laugh at them that is TOTALLY OKAY i understand this way when confronted with something out of the box but that is not the point of them at all. the point is that LOVE IS REAL for everyone (there are other points but that is a broad one)
now on to why i trot my trot in this way. first off is to protect my privacy this is simple enough. when i talk on son jon or sweet barbara or any other way i am adding a layer of secrets by changing names or relations or towns but that is just a fancy outfit for the real truth. i am NOT creating a character, i am protecting myself.
second and more important is that when i TALK IN MY UNIQUE WAY i am expressing myself without masking, which is something old chuck does every single day out there in the world as someone on the autism spectrum. i am VERY GOOD AT MASKING you would probably not know chuck was autistic when talking to me unless you were a close bud. but unfortunately this masking way creates very real tension in my body. i have trotted with CHRONIC PAIN for most of my life heading to emergency rooms where kind and handsome t-rex doctors could not figure out what the heck was goin on. basically LIVED in the dang emergency room. eventually chuck learned i carried my body TOO TIGHT from masking all the time, but what i realized is that allowing myself a space to type freely without way of punctuation or other restrictions and LETTING MY HEART SING to just be myself without masking made this tension release. pain started going away. GRAND IRONY of course is that when im trotting as chuck i wear a pink mask to take off my OTHER MASK of a neurotypical bud.
that is why i protect my way of speaking freely as well. if someone says 'well you need to talk like this right now' i stand tall and say NO BUD THIS IS MY SPACE AND I WILL EXPRESS MYSELF IN THIS WAY AND YOU AN TROT ON IF YOU WANT. this is firm boundary for me and my health.
anyway buckaroo to sum that up again: yes i am one person and this is not a bit

Oh my goodness that image description of the cover! Thank you for that Dr. Tingle! It's rare to find image descriptions that are both useful and stylistically thematic with what the image is part of. As a screen reader user I love it so much when the creator takes part in describing their images too! What a fun way to prove love is real! :)

This was so good! Gruesome, cathartic, with a great first person narrator. I cot a bit misty eyed in a few spots too. Dr. Tingle writes amazing horror and it's so refreshing to see queer people win especially these days. This is also quite cathartic for anyone who's lived under oppressive religion but it also has a sweet message about balance in life after you get out. This one resonated with me on just about every level. Also the horror elements were awesome and I really like this take on demons. Give this and Dr. Tingle's other horror, Straight, a read if you haven't already! And check out his Tinglers and the Harriet Porber duology if you want something more light hearted and fantasy oriented.
Finally met up with @drchucktingle in a dream. He gave me a copy of his new book that won't be out until this summer, very nice guy. Even in a dream I was too shy to talk to him and hurried off so all the other fans could talk to him. That's about as normal as things get in my dreams, things quickly wandered off from there. XD Still I thought it was funny to run into him, and there wasn't even a dream meetup scheduled.
