Geometry Matters. But why?
The contribution of geometry to the evolution of human and natural sciences is a well established fact. Since the Greeks started to realize that the argument is more powerful when backed up by empirical evidence, rather than previous experience, all sciences started to benefit from an approach that had something new: a system of thought. And that system was based on definitions and axioms given by geometric laws. For example, Pythagoras defined reality with three basic principles, extracted from geometric knowledge:
1. Some propositions must be accepted as true without being demonstrated.
2. All other propositions of the system are derived from these.
3. Their derivation must be formal and independent from the subject at matter.
And since for Pythagoras the things are an imitation of the numbers, their definitions and axioms, will reflect the universe, provide intangible harmony and build visible beauty.
The improving of left-right brain connections.
Most activities engage only one hemisphere of the brain and its corresponding functions: the left for language, hearing, logic and mathematics; the right for spatial recognition, images and music processing, symbolism and so on. By requiring both analytical thinking and spatial visualization, geometry activates processes that engage both sides of the brain at the same time, in resolving a given task. When picturing a cube, for example, the brain is tasked with recognizing spatial properties of the cube (height, depth etc) while maintaining its overall shape (by calculating its angles or the length of its segments). This leads to an elevated number of connections between the brain hemispheres, having a long-term benefit in the overall critical thinking or imagination of the geometry user.
The continuous visual representation of truth.
Because of the early traditions and methods of orally sharing and debating knowledge, the first visual (geometrical) representations of mathematical concepts where being drawn by scribes, sometimes directly when hearing a particular information. This process was flawed, given that the person drawing did not posses geometric knowledge, thus leading to miss-interpretations and errors in the visual representation. In the early 300’s Euclid becomes aware of this error and begins drawing his own definitions and axioms, developing adjacent texts that can be understood by any mathematician or artist, for that matter.
And, with the introduction of the visual perspective by Leon Battista Alberti, the geometrical diagrams and laws became general accepted when depicting a mathematical truth or any given representation of reality.
Thus, geometry provides continuity in visual communication in general, and a context in which all individual things can be represented, calculated and later better understood.
The creation of visual reality.
The perception of the visual information and its abstract notions is connected to the perception of reality. As many others, Rudolph Arnheim shows how visual information is being formed by the perception of the new and by the memory of the old, showing a continuance in the cognitive process. And since all information has geometric properties when closely analyzed (height, weight, depth, curvature etc), geometry will be present in all aspects of the visual reality.
The perception of beauty and harmony in things.
If what is above is also below, geometry can be a mirror for these two dimensions. While symmetry defines what geometry is, geometric proportions and ratios define man’s perception of beauty and harmony. A harmonic state is associated with an element or an object having its inner components in perfect equilibrium.
Thus, nature is being perceived as beautiful and its creator, good. For example, the complex relation between symmetry and aesthetics is shown in how symmetry defines the perceived qualities of the human body and how these traits are a sign of good health or good genetic conditions.
Man uses beauty as an indicator of truth and while beauty is truth (Ian Stewart), symmetry, proportion and simplicity will define it.
While many of the elements of nature have an innate geometric structure - water, sound or even light - the more complex architecture of the perceived or the hidden dimensions of reality rely on very complex laws that have different types of shapes, boundaries, behaviors and interactions with the micro and the macro elements of the universe.
In analyzing these dimensions and interactions, many sciences rely on geometric studies and developments that generate universal accepted answers. For example, in his famous special relativity theory, Einstein describes the dimension of space-time by creating a coordinate system that fixes and standardizes measurements, in order to specify the relationship between a moving observer and the phenomenon or phenomena under observation.
The place of humans in space-time.
By placing man in the middle of all created things, human consciousness becomes a necessity of life. An antropocentric perspective explains why the universe has an age. Why the universe works at these exact parameters that an objective observer discovers. That we discover.
Thus, man connects himself to the main elements of the universe: the space-time and the fundamental laws of physics, geometric defined aspects of reality, that man can relate to, explore and evolve upon.
The geometric laws and ratios that nature confides in, are also bound to shape human existence. The human body, the human mind and their correspondent dimensions and proportions have geometric properties and attributes, similar to all other elements of nature.
The universal geometric code
The geometric code of information is inherent to nature, inherent to human consciousness and is present in all perceived and created forms, in the tangible and the intangible.
And maybe a reality built under the auspices of geometry is desirable, being a discipline developed with attention along several millennia and with which the greatest minds of history have created concepts, objects, religions and even the entire universe.
1 multiplies itself and creates 2. The paradigm of reality is the result of the conscious observation. If the system from which consciousness takes part is abstract, then reality is an abstraction of this, by reflecting itself and creating form.

Prologue: A cycle of life
Part 1
Lying on her bed, Alesea Summer was enjoying the night. The room was cosy and warm, lighted up by only her table lamp. Looking out the window, the moon was full, bleaching the town below.
Some house had had their lights turned off. From here, she could see a unique bicycle parked in front of a bakery. That bike’s owner was Jack, her old friend’s grandson, Lily who passed away a few years ago. He was a hard-working boy, always serious with what he did. Alesea believed he would have a bright future ahead of him with his cooking skill, especially at making cakes. He would make a wonderful pastry chef, which had always been his dream. Though he, himself, still didn't have enough money to open a small shop of his own.
Another thought made her lips curved into a smile, it was about his love life, or be more specific, his childhood friend, Cara. The girl was head over heels for him and so was he, but they were too dense to even realize it. They were afraid that their feelings would affect their friendship. They reminded her of her late husband, Lewis, and herself, well, except the childhood part. She met him in her late teens. Or that what she thought back then.
"Cough! Cough! "Looking at her now bloody hand, Alesea simply cleaned it with a tissue and threw the tissue to the nearby almost full basket.
After getting a more comfy position, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her sickness was becoming worse. Even when the doctor and her children didn’t say anything, she knew better. It was her own body telling.
Afraid? Scared?
No, she accepted it, actually. She wanted to meet her husband. She missed him dearly.
While still in her train of thought, someone greeted her: “Hello Alesea”. A deep voice, she thought, a very familiar deep voice. She snapped her eyes open.
Before her standing close to the opposite window was a man, in his twenties, about 6 feet 5, raven hair with a pair of blue eyes.
“ My sickness must have been worst. I even see illusion now. He looks so young in this who was suppose to be a 50 years old man or my brain just likes to see the younger version.” “ I’m not an illusion”. But she kept mumbling to herself .“ Wow, never knows an illusion can talk back.”
He deadpanned. “ How about trying to pinch yourself .” And she did just that. “ It actually hurts.” She looked to her pinched thigh then back at him. “ So this real” He nodded. “ Why you look so young then? And I did go to your funeral a few years ago.”
He was looking nervous but didn’t answer her. She sighed.
“What are you doing here?”. She took a not so wild guess. “To help me to move on or something?”.
He just stood there and gave her a small sad smile.
She should be scared for her or her sanity by now. She knew she should but instead, she only snorted “ So, you’re like my personal reaper?”
“ Something like that,” he said wryly.
After a few moments, he asked:“ It’s there... anything you want to do before…you know?”
“uh... What ?”. She didn’t know if she heard it right.
“Would you wish to do something ?”
She looked at him incredulously. He continued: “ I mean- I can help you fulfil your wishes.”
“ Is this real? I don’t know that people could wish before they die ”.
“ I asked somebody up there”. He pointed up to the sky. “ If I could give you some simple wishes and they said yes. Don’t worried. You can wish many wishes as you like but only in the next 5 hours.”
She let the information to sink in then realized something “ Since you came, I feel much better and I didn’t even cough once.”
- You will be healthy until the time is up. Shall we begin? We only have 5 hours.
“ Hmm, I would like some ice cream ?”. She only asked to know if it really worked. Then a glass of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream appeared in her hand and one chocolate flavour appeared in his. “ My favourite flavour”. Then she had her first spoon. “Hmm...This is bliss. It’s been years since the last time I ate ice cream.” She continued on with her second, third,... until the glass was emptied. She looked up at him and apparently he also finished his. “ So what can I wish ?”.
He answered, “ Mostly anything, for example, food.” He gestured to the glasses then they disappeared. “ clothes, going to places, any activities actually. But I won’t make anyone become rich or fall in love, or raise the dead, revenge. There are some other limitations I will tell you.”
Humming to herself, taking some time to think it over, she finally said: “ Then I like to go on a Gondola ride”. With that, they both vanished.
---
Somewhere in Venice.
Puff.
They reappeared in the middle of the street.
“We’re here”. Damien announced.
Alesea opened her eyes and looked around. The city wasn’t too crowded at this time of the year. People mostly wore a coat or jacket with scarves and gloves. They enjoyed shopping, buying souvenirs or simply talking with their family and friends.
No one seems surprised when two strangers popped out of nowhere.
Like he knew what she was thinking, he ensured her: “ No need to worry. They see what I want them to see. So we just like every other tourist”.
'That’s convenient'. She thought.
She then noticed her clothes had changed into a different more appropriate attire, not her old sleeping robe but a white turtle-neck sweater together with an oversized plaid scarf wrapped around her neck, a wool cashmere coat, a quite comfy cream structured trousers and a pair of white low heel pumps. Reaching to touch her hair with her now gloved hand, it seemed like her hair had pulled back into a low bun with an encircling braid.
“This surely is magical”. She murmured.
“Then I promise, you’ll be surprised with what to come .” She glanced back. His face didn’t show any smugness but as friends, she knew better. The guy had always been confident in his abilities.
“Well, seeing is believing. I just hope I won’t get too disappointed”. She smirked.
He arched an eyebrow. “Then let’s begin with a Gondola ride shall we?” His eyes gleamed with mischief.
She couldn’t agree more. They went to the Grand Canal.
Damien was her childhood friend. Their first encounter was when she was seven while she was trying to save a kid from being bullied in the park. With his practice in karate, he was able to help her telling those older kids to back off. Their damsel uh... bachelor in distress was very grateful. They talked a bit but the boy was freaking out when he remembered he had to go home. He said goodbye and ran away. She never saw him again however she did meet Damien frequently. He had just moved in for a few days with his family and his house was quite near hers. They gradually became good friends despite their contrast of personalities. To her, he was like a big brother she had never had
----
Turned out, Damien was also a very skilful gondolier, all she had to do was laying back her now a royal like seat and enjoying the ride while drinking some wine. It was kinda funny to see Damien wear Gondolier’s outfit. It didn’t suit him though but she would never say it out loud. She wished Lewis was here to see this.
After a while, the boat took a turn to a small canal. It was dark, eerily silent and void of people, swaddled in a veil of mist.
“ Where are we going?” She asked instinctively. “ You’ll see”. He answered. They went deeper into the alley. She was a bit scared at first. Then the mist started to disperse, the climbing roses on the wall illuminated on their own. The place brightened up. Now she could see clearly what ahead of her. Pixies like creatures with many skin colour flying around, talking in an unfamiliar language, buying things in tiny size stands attached to the wall. When some flew pass her, she could hear their wings flapping.
Then she felt something under the boat, she looked into the canal, her hands holding the edge of the starboard side. There was a giant squid swimming under, then disappeared out of her sight. “ I think he, the squid, is lost. The water here is getting dirtier over the years. He shouldn’t be here.” Damien commented behind her.
She turned directly at him: “ Where are we?”. He smiled. “ Well, welcome to the magical world, Alesea. Now we can begin our real tour.”
The tour started from there. She saw some squirrels with anthropomorphized faces on the rooftop winking at her. This made her gondolier chuckle: “ You sure have a young spirit.” She didn’t understand what that supposed to mean. They passed a few kitsunes, if she remembered it right, which should be in Japan waving at them or more specifically, Damien. Fortunately, they didn’t even bat an eye at her. She met many others creatures until at the of the canal, Damien said something unexpected: “ We’re going to fly.” Not even waiting for her response, an invisible rope wrapped around her waist, and they took off, upright. “ SHIIIIIITT!!!” You could hear her swore clearly in the quiet night while closing her eyes.
'I shouldn’t challenge him in the first place.'
Then it stopped. She opened her eyes slowly. Only one word appeared in her mind right there: breathtaking.
The view that was.

I'm still not satisfied with this. I don't know how to make this better though.
Life Tip #55
a short list of places to escape this dimension:
grocery stores just before closing time, when the people have begun clearing out and you are surrounded by aisles of bright chip bags, the chill of cold meat, the hum of flickering lights, whirring bread ovens, and the loudest noise is the soft tapping of your footsteps echoing throughout the store. you pass an employee, wave hello, but they vanish once they pass by the holiday display and you never see them again. there is no longer food lining the shelves. the products consist of your musings of the universe and what you imagine should be there. somehow, you know where everything is, but only because you have willed it to that place.
gas stations past midnight, when your headlights are brighter than the lights hanging above you, and the smell of gasoline grows stronger the more you think about it. the voice coming out of the machine is different, but you’re not sure if it’s gotten higher or lower, you’re not sure if you’re hearing a voice anymore and yet, you understand everything it’s saying. the swipe of your card is instinct, you’re not sure how much gas cost, but your tank is full now and you hear barking and howling in the distance. it’s strange. you don’t remember there being wolves or coyotes in this area.
streams off the side of the highway at sunrise, where the morning rush hasn’t yet started and for once, the sound of the water outweighs the rumble of streetcars and the water splashes recklessly across the rocks. you wonder when mother nature will take back her earth. you wonder if it is already happening.
empty patios at evening parties when the stars and you stand alone with an icy cold drink in your hand that you can’t hold onto for too long before your hand turns red and numb. your arms have goosebumps and you stare out into the sky, licking your lips, trying to put feeling back into your hands.
school classrooms when the entire student body is at an assembly and you stand alone in the room, basking in the silence.
Wow… I'll never underestimate grandmas again
