I’m really excited to share this short Elucien comic. This amazing comic art was done by the very talented @artcraawl

I really wanted an Elucien comic that brought all the emotional push-&-pull and tension that I felt between these two characters in the books. @artcraawl killed it of course. She really brought these two characters to life!

I know the ship-wars are chaotic right now but please keep the comments respectful.

This shipwar is extremely hostile and emotions run very high. I understand. There are times I have been above and below the fray. However, it is never okay to personally attack somebody, label, call them slurs and insult them publicly or directly, in private, to their accounts.

And it’s 100% unacceptable to wish for tragedy and trauma upon peoples’ lives. Real, actual, living, breathing people.

Ultimately, these are fantasy books. We love them and, yes, it can border on obsession for many of us, but we need to hold each other accountable- as predominately women, here.

Idc what side of this shipwar you’re on. I’m speaking about Elriels, Gwynriels, and Eluciens. Idc how much you dislike the other side or somebody on the other side…be a decent fucking human being.

A side of this shipwar is going to get what they want and others aren’t. That will be disappointing for those who do not get what they so greatly want and are invested in. What will always remain is that there are real living, breathing humans behind the screen taking your vitriol. What will always remain is how you treated others.

As an Elriel, I think we need to call out shit behavior when it happens on our side and I saw some of what looks like it today. So this is me, and I know I speak for so many Elriels, calling it out.

Do better.

ACOTAR Characters at Hogwarts  Part 1

***THIS FEATURES SOME MINOR SPOILERS FOR ACOSF***

This is mostly the main players in the series right now with a couple smaller characters thrown in just because. I’ll be posting a part two with side characters like the other high lords etc. I will not be taking criticism at this time, thank you.

The Inner Circle

Rhysand: Slytherin

Okay, Rhys is a pretty obvious one I think. He’s ambitious, resourceful, and a natural leader. It just makes sense. 

Cassian: Hufflepuff

So here’s where I might get some argument. Now, I will admit, I’ve gone back and forth on Cassian myself. I see a lot of people sorting him into either Slytherin (which is absolutely wrong, y’all wild) or Gryffindor. Gryffindor does make sense for him and I can see that, but hear me out. Cassian, at the end of the day, is a Hufflepuff. He’s a lover and he’s ultra loyal and dedicated to the people he loves. He’s a hard-worker who doesn’t give up on anybody or anything. Plus, he’s just there for vibes and a good time which is big Hufflepuff energy. Cassian is a Hufflepuff, nobody can change my mind.

Azriel: Ravenclaw

Az was a tough one to pin down, but I think Ravenclaw suits him. He’s kinda the weirdo of the group, and of course, he’s all about collecting info and intelligence, being a spy.

Feyre: Slytherin

Again, this one just makes sense. She’s ambitious and cunning. Her entire character arc for the first book was mostly based on her sense self-preservation, and learning to care for people outside of herself.

Morrigan: Gryffindor

Mor is another obvious one to me, though there might be some argument for Slytherin. I think Gryffindor suits her better, though. She brave to the point of being chaotic. She wakes up and chooses violence everyday. She’s also wildly impulsive. Big Gryffindor energy. 

Amren: Slytherin

Of all the Slytherins on this list, I think Amren is the most blatantly Slytherin one. Not only that, but she pushes Feyre and Rhys to be more Slytherin-like. She’s ambitious and is all about self-preservation. She wants Rhys to be more in control than he already is, as evidence by her explaining to him that he could basically use Nesta as a weapon to become High King. I don’t think there’s any argument here.

Nesta and Elain + friends

Nesta: Hufflepuff

And again, some argument might come with this one. Like Cassian, I think an argument could be made for Nesta being in another house (namely Slytherin or even Ravenclaw), but she’s a Hufflepuff at the end of the day. She’s not particularly ambitious or cunning, this is made obvious by the fact that she didn’t give a shit about her power, and she didn’t care when Lanthys gave her visions of being High Queen. She just wanted to be with Cassian, and her friends. She’s also fiercely loyal and dedicated when she truly cares about someone, and even when she doesn’t care about people in some cases, Mor being a great example. The two of them aren’t necessarily besties, but she hated Eris just on the premise that he harmed Mor. And she also loves very deeply, even though she doesn’t show it in the same way as Cassian and other characters. She’s a Hufflepuff with some anger issues.

Gwyneth: Ravenclaw

This is another obvious one. She gives off big Luna Lovegood energy. She’s an adorable weirdo, and she’s obviously super intelligent. She’s the one who did all of the research and told Nesta and Emerie about the Valkyries, after all. 

Emerie: Slytherin

Emerie was another hard one to pin down, but after consideration I finally settled on Slytherin. I think she shows a lot of ambition and a good sense of leadership throughout ACOSF. She takes over her father’s shop when he dies, and fights anybody who tells her otherwise. She has big ambitions of being more than a shopkeeper, even though she’s an Illyrian female with clipped wings. She doesn’t let it hold her back.

Elain: Hufflepuff

So we obviously haven’t seen a lot of Elain in the books. I’d really like to see her character developed in a book based solely on her in the future so we can get more details about her character, but based on what we have seen she’s pretty obviously a Hufflepuff. Loyal, kind, hard-working.

Nuala and Cerridwen: Ravenclaw

I put them together because I kinda make the same argument as Azriel for both of them. They’re both spies, so they’re obviously into collecting info. I could also see Hufflepuff. Don’t really feel to strongly about this one.

The Redemption Arc Trio

Lucien: Hufflepuff

First of all, I know Lucien didn’t really have or need a redemption arc, I just didn’t know where else to put him. I think he’s pretty obviously a Hufflepuff. He’s loyal to the point of blindness when it comes to Tamlin and the Spring Court. He’s also just a soft boy who wants to love and deserves to be loved. 

Tamlin: Ravenclaw

A lot of people place Tamlin in Slytherin, but I don’t think that quite suits him. He’s not particularly ambitious and he’s not a natural leader, like Rhys. This is made obvious in the fact that he hasn’t changed much about his court since he became High Lord, he’s kept all of the same traditions and rules in place, and followed his father’s lead. He’s only High Lord because there was no other choice. As for why I chose Ravenclaw, I think Tamlin is an artist at heart. He’s obviously very creative if he composes his own music and plays the violin so this fits a Ravenclaw vibe.

Eris: Slytherin

Eris is a Slytherin through and through. He’s ambitious and has big plans for his court when/if he becomes High Lord. He’s also shown that, in his mind, the ends justify the means. As shown by him offering to kill his own father because he thinks it will benefit his court to have a new High Lord. I don’t think you could make an argument for any other house here.

ACOTAR Couples x Kisses

Feysand 

Strong shoulder kiss vibes from them. Idk what it is but they are the couple that I see most likely to just lean over and kiss their partner on the shoulder whether that be in their bedroom, while one of them is holding Nyx, or even during a meeting. 

Nessian

Forehead Forehead Forehead Forehead Forehead. You’re telling me that Cassian, who’s a whole head taller than Nesta doesn’t bend over all the time to give her a forehead kiss? You’re also telling me that Nesta who can’t see over Cassian’s shoulder without going on her tip toes doesn’t yank him down by his ears to kiss his forehead? Yeah right. 

Vamren

Top of the head kiss. Listen, I love the idea of Amren-someone who is seen as a vicious little creature- randomly getting kissed on top of the head by Varian. I also love the idea of her grabbing a stool and doing it to him just because she wants to. 

Emorie

These two exude neck kiss energy to me. Idk what it is but I so vividly can see both of them coming up, sweeping the hair off of their partners neck and then kissing it so gently and softly. It fits them so well and you cannot tell me otherwise.

Gwynriel

These two are a must for hand kisses. Azriel placing the invoking stone in Gwyn’s hands, telling her she is worthy of wearing it before kissing her fingers? Yes please. Gwyn cradling Azriel’s hands before saying they are the hands that chase away the unwanted ones and then kissing each scar delicately? Love it. 

Elucien

Listen they are cheek kisses personified. I have literally commissioned art of Elain giving Lucien a kiss on his cheek over his scar. I do not care what ANY of you guys say, they are the cheek kiss couple. Also are you going to try and tell me that Lucien wouldn’t kiss Elain’s cheeks as she’s giggling because of his jokes???? 

Jassa

These two give off big chest/collarbone kissing vibes. Like, when I closed my eyes and imagined them kissing the first thing that I saw was Vassa kissing Jurian’s chest then Jurian leaning down to kiss Vassa’s collarbone. I was debating neck kiss because they’re at each other’s throats however after they relieve their tension they definitely would give amazing chest/collarbone kisses to each other.

I’m so excited to share this commission. You guys know how much I love Elain and Lucien and I really hope they find their way to eachother in the end. I think they would heal, thrive, and grow together perfectly. Thank you so much @viliaud00 for this beautiful art of Elain and Lucien. @viliaud00 really did such a great job!

I just finished ACOSF and although it’s not my favorite in the series, it was still a fun read and I’m excited to dive further into the universe of SJM Books.

Initially I was excited to catch up and banter with the community, but after being exposed to the toxicity I find myself questioning if it’s even worth commenting and engaging, especially when it comes to Elaine and her potential lover. Personally I would like to see her with Lucian ( those who disagree plz don’t come for me. I say this because I’ve already faced unnecessary aggression from simple words as such )

But either way I LOVEEEEEEEE Az as well. They are my two favorite men in the series so I would be fine with whoever she ends up with. I find it funny the amount of drama that comes from this. If anything the questioning of a mating bond is just the kind of plot twist to keep readers on the edge of there seat. At the same time watching Elaine and Lucian build a relationship when she can hardly look at him would be so romantic. Do you guys not enjoy guessing and trying to piece together the outcome in a way that’s not toxic and rude to anyone with a opposite opinion? I for one enjoy talking to others who hold different opinions. I wanna know all the things that lead you to this conclusion. I mistakenly thought this community would be like that especially since it’s adult fiction… I just thought readers may be more mature.

I realize that Lucien would probably rather chew on glass than wear the fox mask again but I've been obsessed with the idea of Elain in a fawn mask so I'm asking for some suspension of disbelief here. I imagine them dancing away at some Autumn Court ball (probably after Beron kicks the bucket), just for the vibes only.

Lucien in Feral Mate mode:

Lucien snarled at the king over the bite of the magic at his throat, “Don’t just leave her on the damned floor—” There was a flare of light, and a scrape, and then Lucien was stalking toward Elain, freed of his restraints.

Lucien was shaking his head, panting, and whirled to us. “Get her back,” he snarled at Tamlin over the ranting of the king. A mate—a mate already going wild to defend what was his.

Jurian stalked over to Lucien amid the rising squabble, laughing under his breath. “Do you know what Illyrian bastards do to pretty females? You won’t have a mate left—at least not one that’s useful to you in any way.” Lucien’s answering growl was nothing short of feral.

I was fairly certain that only centuries of training kept Lucien from leaping over the table to rip out Jurian’s throat.

Touch her, smell her, taste her— The instincts were a running river. He fisted his hands at his sides.

But even as shame washed through him, the words, the sense chanted, Mine. You are mine, and I am yours. Mate.

He fought against the bristling rage, the irrational urge to find the male who’d claimed her and shred him apart.

He paused right between them and said to me, to Nesta, “She needs fresh air.” “We’ll judge what she needs.” I could have sworn his ruby hair gleamed like molten metal as his temper rose. But it faded, his russet eye fixing on me. “Take her to the sea. Take her to some garden. But get her out of this house for an hour or two.”

But Lucien’s attention went right to the hallway toward the back, his nostrils flaring as he scented Elain’s direction. And who she’d gone with. A low snarl slipped out of him—

The words were little more than a growl.

His russet eye flashed with simmering rage. An uncontrollable instinct—for a mate to eliminate any threat.

Lucien in Calculating Mate mode:

“Forever,” I parroted, glancing behind—to where Lucien stood in the gravel drive. His gaze on me. Face hard. As if he’d seen through every lie. As if he knew of the second tattoo beneath my glove, and the glamour I now kept on it. As if he knew that they had let a fox into a chicken coop—and he could do nothing. Not unless he never wanted to see his mate—Elain—again.

Lucien breathed, “Where is he keeping her?” I knew who he meant. I shook my head. “I don’t know. Rhysand has a hundred places where they could be, but I doubt he’d use any of them to hide Elain, knowing that I’m aware of them.” “Tell me anyway. List all of them.” “You’ll die the moment you set foot in his territory.” “I survived well enough when I found you.” “You couldn’t see that he had me in thrall. You let him take me back.” Lie, lie, lie. But the hurt and guilt I expected weren’t there. Lucien slowly released his grip. “I need to find her.”

Lucien in Respectful Mate mode:

“Is … is there anything I can get for you?” I’d never heard my friend’s voice so soft. So tentative and concerned.

The words were a rasp as he instead said, “I know. I’m sorry.”

“Are you hurt?” he asked, coming toward us. Spying the blood speckling Elain’s hands.

Lucien now stood in the sitting room, close to Elain’s side.

“How is she?”

But is she still …” A muscle flickered in his jaw. “Does she still mourn him?”

Lucien had encountered him, I realized. Somehow, in living with Jurian and Vassa at that manor, he’d run into Elain’s former betrothed. And managed to leave the human lord breathing.

But he remained sitting. Even as his fingers dug into the arms of his chair.

The bigger box is for you. The smaller one is for her.” It took me a heartbeat to realize he meant the presents. I glanced over my shoulder to the careful silver wrapping, the blue bows atop both boxes.

Lucien in Sad Mate mode:

Lucien leaned his head back against the rock wall behind us. “And then I’ll ask your mate how he survived it—knowing you were engaged to someone else. Sharing another male’s bed.”

But Lucien was standing in the doorway. And from the devastation on his face, I knew he’d heard every word. Seen and heard and felt the hollowness and despair radiating from her.

She did not love him, want him, need him. Another male’s bride.

Only concern for her. And … sorrow. Longing.

He glanced at Elain, who was again studying her lap. “I’m not needed here. I’ll fight if you need me to, but …” He offered me a grim smile. “I do not belong in the Autumn Court. And I’m willing to bet I’m no longer welcome at h—the Spring Court.” Home, he had almost said.

Lucien inclined his head in a bow, the movement hiding the gleam in his eye—the longing and sadness.

“She wants nothing to do with me.”

Cassian’s heart strained at the pain etching deep into Lucien’s face as he tried to hide his disappointment and longing.

Lucien in Perfect Mate mode:

Water poured forth, Lucien hoisting Elain in his arms and out of the way.

he’d been more than happy to do so, given that his own status as a mated male made him uninterested in any sort of female company these days.

“I’m a mated male now.”

But Lucien gripped my arm, halting me. “I’m going with you,” he said again, face splattered with blood as bright as his hair. “I’m getting my mate back.”

“Tell me about her—about Elain,” Lucien said quietly. As if the death that squatted in the dark beside us had drawn his thoughts to his own mate as well.

But he couldn’t breathe as she faced him fully. She was the most beautiful female he’d ever seen.

“Let me do something. About Elain.

“Please tell me,” Lucien said when I crossed the threshold into the foyer. “What the healer says. And if—if you need me for anything.”

“Did you sense anything?” “No—I didn’t have time. I felt her, but …” A blush stained his cheek.

“I’ll go.” Lucien was staring at Elain as he spoke. We all looked at him. Lucien shifted his focus to Rhys, to me. “I’ll go,” he repeated, rising to his feet. “To find this sixth queen.”

Lucien, haggard and bloody, panting for breath. As if he’d run from the shore. His gaze settled on Elain, and he sagged a little.

“I’m fine,” Elain said quietly. And then asked, noticing the gore on him, the torn clothes and still-bloody weapons, “Are you—” “Well, I never want to fight in another battle as long as I live, but … yes, I’m in one piece.” A faint smile bloomed on Elain’s lips.

Lucien. He noticed it. “I heard you made the killing blow,” he said.

✨ I saw this beautiful dress on Pinterest and it gave me such Elain vibes, but in Day Court? So I had to try and draw those two together. They absolutely own me. 🥺 ANYWHO, I’m loving this new style and painting the characters on rather than drawing them and being messy—there’s something fun about not having to follow the lines!
