I would have been so satisfied with the whole natsu apologising to Lucy for hurting her and going berserk, if only he hadn’t done that pee-joke. Looking at her tits was bad enough, but the moment was more serious than peeing away the pain.
I gotta say that an apology is still pretty good, even if he played it off. When he abandoned Lucy for a whole year he never actually said sorry - he just felt awkward and didn’t know what to say, because sorry wasn’t enough to him (and it wasn’t enough for Lucy either, but it would’ve been a start)
So him saying sorry still outweighs the bad imo - it was poor judgment of Mashima to write the joke, but he could’ve skipped the apology part entirely and just filled it all up with jokes and fanservice.
i want Natsu to know that he actually scared Lucy with his fire. mostly bc i want a true apology out of him, but also bc i want Natsu to be aware of Lucy's slight flinching, her nervous sweat and her hightened pulse - that it's from fear and not adrenaline. and i want him to worry about her, feel bad about himself that he let himself get carried away, hell, i even want him to be a bit magically constipated, not being able to give his all when he fights. he's been so focused on getting stronger to protect his loved ones, so they dont have to feel fear, but now he's the cause. i want him to deal with that troubling feeling of not being able to do something because of a mental block. and then i want Lucy to talk some sense in him, bring him back, get him out of his head, able to enter the fight without holding back. because even though she's weary of his fire, Natsu isn't himself without his willpower. and she wants Natsu to be Natsu - not Ignia, not some crazy strong demon, she wants him to be him.

The new 100YQ chapter just reaffirms the current theory of Natsu thinking him and Lucy are dating without asking her or knowing that she doesn't think the same 😭.
NaLu was never "will they, won't they", it's "when will they (realize that they're totally not on the same page about their relationship despite having mutual feelings because one is thinking about marriage while the other is convinced her feelings are unrequited)"
Anyways I'm free from exams so I'll have free time!!! I'll try to improve my art lol. Toodles—!

I love the low-key changes to his treatment of Lucy since the last parts of the final series and the start of the 100Y Quest. I don't really want a full blown "I love you" confession. But I do hope it he gets to clearly acknowledge that he has romantic feelings for her. And in a way, let her know too. ❤
