DustEcho lore: practically Dusttale route is going on, player and sans are fighting and theeen a glitch happens. sans throws the player's soul in the wall, it clips and then the game crashes. for the player, the game just corrupted, a bug happened and the save file is no more accessible. for sans, he just goes back to the overworld screen, but he's not alone, the human is in there, no more being controlled by the player. the human doesn't remembers anything, and gains a totally new personality bc they're free from the player's control. after this, even if sans want's to kill the human, he can't bc the human's soul (what kinda target the battle and the player's control) is softlocked in the battle screen. they both practically are living together now, in an empty and corrupted world after a time they actually manage to become friends and stay still together. chara is still in there, watching everything, kinda bored now they doesn't have their partner to play with (player), but enjoying the new things. that echo Flower, yeah, your thought is right. it is gaster, kinda the same way chara got awaken by the player's determination, gaster woke up because of the corruption in the timeline but he's not really physical. he's just like chara for Frisk or phatom papyrus, some-like a ghost/hallucination following sans, insulting him and talking about how he managed to kill his friends. only the human can see chara and only sans can see the echo flower.
