Thoughts on 'Golden'

Personally, I like 'Yes or No' right off the bat. Seven IMO is my favorite song out of all the songs.
Golden Tracklist Thoughts
If you haven’t seen the tracklist, here it is and I do have some thoughts.

I actually am not sharing the same sentiment as a lot of people who are disappointed that JK has no writing credits on this album. Because honestly, I can relate to his burnout. Re: me not updating any of my fanfics in like a year and wanting to start over as a writer. We know Jungkook is talented in both producing and songwriting. I think the only sad part is the complete separation from his roots. All of these producers and writers are western which makes it feel less personal. Written in a language that isn’t his native tongue makes it feel less personal.
However, I am glad to see limited features. I expected them to throw a western artist on every single track, so I’m glad we will just get some JK. But then again, y/n stans especially are going to use this album as fuel for their “JK is straight” fire because I’m sure it’s going to be filled with girl, she, her, woman all over the place. These people will have no critical thinking skills to connect the dots that Jungkook didn’t write these songs, so they aren’t coming from a place of literal experience. See: people already screaming “WHO HURT JUNGKOOK” all over twitter just from the names of the songs. *eye rolling past every post that I’m seeing saying the same tired phrasing* Please. As if Jungkook hasn’t always loved a good ballad, and again, these songs were not written by him!!!
This is why the heteroification of JK as an artist is something I loathe. It’s not Jungkook himself. It’s not because I want him to be like Troye Sivan right now in drag giving a lap dance in a music video. Well, I could dream okay. By the way, Troye’s album is refreshing and amazing, but I digress. If Jungkook wants to sing these songs, fine. It’s the way that these y/n fans react that I can’t stand. It’s the way that it will only increase their rabid, lustful creepy behavior towards him which pisses me off. That’s why I hate this era for him. He’s just a tool for their sexual fantasies not an actual person. A person, I might add, that they don’t pay attention to his words, actions and mannerisms except for his thrusting on stage. 🙄
But make no mistake, I don’t think this is the real JK. I think the real JK loves his bandmate JM and has for years. But they are enlisting soon, so now is not really the time for Jungkook to dump all of his homo feelings for his bandmate on an album, is it? He probably did feel burnt out, lost, and uninspired to write music. With something as daunting as MS looming over your head, that leaves little space for creativity. He was probably a little stubborn too that he couldn’t really put it all out on the table. I personally think Jungkook wants out of the closet, even more so than Jimin and all of his bi colored themed photo shoots. I think JK would declare his love for Jimin tomorrow publicly if he could.
I still stand by my personal belief too that Jungkook was pushed into this western market direction to some extent. Yes, we know he likes western music and always has. Yes, he said he wants to be a big pop star, but we also know that he made no progress towards releasing an album until 🛴 stepped in. And that can’t be ignored from the equation either. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
So, I will keep an open mind, hoping that I like some of the songs. Hoping that some of them feel authentic to the real Jungkook. Hoping that they show off his immense vocal talent. And I’ll be looking forward to seeing Jimin continue to support him. Because that speaks volumes to me. More than songs written in a language foreign to Jungkook by other people.
Hi! I have just see Jk tracklist and I wanted to share my op -
First: I don't understand why, only because I like Jk as an artist and person, I have to accept blindly every single thing he does. I have my ideas and morals and I apply them consistently. I like seven, I don't like 3D. I am not a prude, simply I find that 3D it's explicit in a dirty way. For example.
So:
• I don't have problems with not writing your lyrics but I'm a little disappointed that in his first album there isn't even 1 or 2 Jk credits. Yes he surely approved and choose carefully but it's not the same thing to really write them, we can't read the lyrics and be like "that's what he think" because we can't be sure that he specifically approved that phrase that we are "analyzing". Meybe that was the only phrase that he doesn't like lol.
• I know he is working hard and I respect him for that, I'm just sorry he is working at something that is not what in my op a lot of fan were expecting
• I think that all those songs will be more the 'no deep meaning' songs, again, nothing wrong with it. But when you are the frontman of a band famous for the deep meaning of their songs people have expectations. So for me the problem is that I and other fans wish to have from bts members the meanings, the ideas, the relatable lyrics, the personal style not songs given by random people. So I personally understand who is disappointed and find it valid.
Still I respect his work.
• note: tae doesn't wrote his lyrics too, but in his case Idk if he received the songs or if the songs were made for him, that is a little big difference.
Let me know if you know and what you think! Ty ♡
Hi anon. Ah, it seems as if you have entered today’s realm of stan culture where you are an anti unless you like every single thing an artist puts out and every single thing they do. That applies to all artists with huge fanbases not only limited to kpop. I’m talking Taylor Swift all other artists fans are moving the same way these days. There is no room for healthy discourse. You are either in or out. I also didn’t like 3D and I still don’t. Do I think that Jungkook knew the sexual innuendos in English that all the y/ns projected onto him? Hell no 🤣 tbh I didn’t know what “champagne confetti” was either and I wish I still didn’t know.
I’m a little disappointed too, but also not really and not surprised. We know Jungkook was having some sort of writers block/burn out around the time FACE was happening and some time after when Jimin was still busy. If it took 10 months to produce Jimin’s album and JK hadn’t even started working in March, then there was no way that he had anything to bring to the table for his album. I really wonder if they were all contractually obligated to release an album (except Jin) before MS. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did, and that would also explain the involvement of western producers and 🛴 grubby hands in everything.
I agree that we can’t project a bunch of deep meanings into these songs considering they were given to JK. Yes, he probably picked through his options, but it’s comparing apples and oranges when his other option would have been songs he personally wrote. And no, not every song written by someone is about their personal life, but songs not written by the artist definitely are not either.
I’m not fully convinced that JK wants to be working this hard tbh. He loves being on stage, but with some of his latest performances, his energy is different. I don’t know how to explain it, but those that can see it, see it.
I understand the disappointment, I do. But to be fair, the rap line have always been the brains behind BTS songs. Not Jungkook. Jungkook has written some great meaningful songs like Magic Shop but the majority have been by RM, Suga, and Hobi. So I am okay with departing that identity from BTS and JK as a solo artist.
True that Tae didn’t write his songs either but that didn’t seem to ruffle as many feathers. I think the fandom has always put a huge weight on Jungkook’s shoulders to be that “golden” maknae that the title has been bestowed on him. He supposed to be able to do it all and do it perfectly in the fandom’s eyes, in kpoppies eyes, in his country’s eyes. I’m glad he is letting some of that pressure go even if this is not the direction that I wanted him to take. I take comfort in knowing that he has people like Jimin to ground him and always remind him of home.
Thanks for the ask.
"I’m not fully convinced that JK wants to be working this hard tbh. He loves being on stage, but with some of his latest performances, his energy is different. I don’t know how to explain it, but those that can see it, see it.“
Same feeling here. I’ve been disappointed by most of his recent performances - the fact that I don’t vibe with Seven and even less with 3D surely does not help but still, he does not seem to be that much into it imo. The interviews around the singles were a bit boring, but I find the songs boring anyway so I don’t know why I expected more..He did say recently he doesn’t have as much energy as he used to. I think he’s working hard right now, I hope he’s not burning himself out. I just can’t help but wonder if it’s truly what he wanted or if he wants to prove something, to us fans but also to himself. Which is fine but I just hope he’s not pushing himself too much to prove us something, he has already shown how great of an artist he is. His schedule is crazy these days…
Honestly I’m also disappointed, I was expecting him to be credited at least for one song. I hope it was his choices, if he’s happy with how things went then it’s all good but imo it would have been smarter to go for less songs, like a mini album, but more involvement from his part even if minimal. The collabs, the overhype and Scooter involvement killed my curiosity, it’s like those beautiful cakes you see at the baker but then it doesn’t taste much - it’s not like you won’t eat it, but it’s not as good as it looked like it would be… dumb parallel maybe sorry. I’m sure I’ll like some songs but I’m not expecting much.He was lacking inspiration it’s pretty clear now, and it’s not a shame I absolutely don’t blame him, but I guess he felt pressured to release something big but somehow I don’t feel the connection. I just hope he’s doing okay.
The interview that Bang PD did a couple days ago is linked here: https://x.com/daily_jkupdate/status/1712671267667705932?s=46&t=qPnJMLyaHtW8TW1s2gwVIg
Because these are the facts. We aren’t toxic stans for wanting more or wishing this rollout was different. I’m not a toxic stan for wishing that JK wouldn’t have been pressured to do an album at all, because I don’t think he wanted to, and in this interview, Bang PD even said that JK wasn’t sure about releasing an album. But Bang PD let 🛴 get involved and I’m sure he knows JK’s star power and pushed him into doing a couple songs and then an album. And like I mentioned before, I could see the members producing a solo album before MS (besides Jin who had to enlist right away because of his age) as part of their contract. That left JK with no time to fulfill that because he hadn’t come up with any solid songs on his own.
Western interviews are always awkward. For everyone involved. I think JK did a great job persevering considering he was on his own, but I’m sure he wasn’t too thrilled or comfortable doing it. I’m a music lover, so the songs weren’t my cup of tea either. Seven was catchier and the clean version was more tolerable. But yeah, I’m not a toxic stan or a bad JK fan for not being obsessed with Seven or 3D. I’m hoping that I like some of the songs on Golden and that JK connects with them. Because we know he puts his heart and soul into songs that mean something to him. Re: him recording Letter.
I’m not disappointed because I wasn’t expecting it. JK quite literally told us on lives he hadn’t been working on any music. So, considering the fast timeline, I’m not surprised he had nothing still since it comes out in a few weeks. The collabs and the overhype from 🛴 both suck but I’m hoping that we get some solid JK solo tracks too the ones without features.
I also hope he’s doing okay. I empathize with his position. I love him as a human. But I’m not a mindless robot that burns myself out streaming songs I don’t like all in the name of fandom either. Hopefully, I’ll like some of the songs, and I’ll listen to those. Thanks for sharing your opinions.
Omg thank you for not thinking we're all haters for thinking Jungkook didn't necessarily want this album. Although I hope you or other people don't hate me for saying I think bang pd and scooter are using Jungkook for their own devices and they targeted him at a time where he was vulnerable.
Around the same time Jungkook was on live constantly, he looked like he was going through something along with saying he isn't working on anything. I believe they took advantage of that. Convinced him it would be so amazing to be the biggest western pop star and that it's "adult" and "mature" to sing about sex. And there's nothing wrong with singing about sex but I think it's clear that this is one of the ways Jungkook is choosing to show he's mature and I find that a little immature I'm sorry.
I don't think Jungkook is naive. I think he was vulnerable. I hope he has good people around him because bang pd a d scooter are concerned about their bottom lines. They want a K-pop Justin Timberlake and Jungkook is that for them
Hi anon. The only people that are haters are those that are actually saying hateful things. Having an unpopular opinion doesn’t make you a “hater” or “toxic”. While I disagree with you, I don’t think “using” is the right word here. I don’t think Jungkook was being used. I truly believe that the members probably were contractually obligated to release albums. I mean, they all said they would release a solo project during The Festa that Shall Not Be Named. That’s part of what leads me to believe that it was an expectation. If I remember correctly because I’m sure not about to watch that again, I think they even kind of knew the order of their releasing too and JK was either last or second last. They knew this was coming and was expected of them. So when March came and went, and JK was drinking on live, looking sad, watching Jimin content, he was talking about how he hasn’t been working. He basically said he hasn’t even been going to the company. JK told us he wasn’t working on music. It takes a long time to produce music, so if he wasn’t in the studio recording songs he wrote five-ish months before his supposed album released, how was he going to drop an album by the end of the year???
I don’t think 🛴 and Bang PD used him emotionally, I think it was a business decision. I’m sure there was some persuasion involved, hyping him up that he could be a huge successful pop star like a JB or Timberlake. And JK totally can. I’m not denying that or “jealous” or upset or whatever anyone else wants to project onto me.
As for the explicit nature of the songs, I do think that JK was probably sold on that on his own. He’s been telling the fandom that he’s not a baby for how long now? So, I’m sure he thought best way to get across that I’m a grown man is to sing about sex. Which is fine… until it created a whole new problem where you got disgusting y/n stans asking him to take his shirt off on live, say other perverted things in his comments on his lives. And these were probably a small minority at one point, but him projecting this new sex appeal brought these people out in droves. But JK will be JK, and he will call them out. Plus, western music is raunchy. Songs are always about sex. And most mainstream ones aren’t subtle either.
I believe Jungkook definitely has good people around him. The rest of the tannies support him, especially Jimin. Jungkook does have a good head on his shoulders. He’s intelligent and sensitive and empathetic. I don’t think the likes of 🛴 and company can change that. And, I don’t think a certain long term partner would let them either. Thanks for your thoughts.
Golden Thoughts
I’m sure no one has been waiting on baited breath for my thoughts on Jungkook’s solo album Golden but here we go.
If this had been released by a western pop star akin to the likes of Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendez, Ed Sheeran then I would classify it as a “safe” album. However, Jungkook is Korean and not a native English speaker, so while I think a lot of these songs sound “dated” as in the production is stuck in the 2010’s pop era without bringing anything really unique to the table (minus the title track Standing Next to You) I am damn impressed with what he was able to do in a short amount of time and as a foreign speaker. Jungkook is incredibly talented and impressive and I’m proud of him. Some critics will be harsh and view this project from a western lens only but as an artist from the kpop industry, what Jungkook was able to cross the bridge and pull off something really amazing even if some of the songs don’t suit my current taste level.
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the lyrics. I was expecting this album to be extremely gendered (towards heterosexual lyrics) due to the nature of it targeting the general population western market and from the release of the first two singles, but it was surprisingly gender neutral. I’m not going to go back now that it is gender neutral and assign a bunch of meaning to the lyrics that Jungkook didn’t take part in writing. I’m sure he resonated with some of the lyrics and the songs. I’m chalking up the Jikook of it all (re Sun and Moon) as a really great coincidence. The lyrics of the songs does lead me to believe though that Jungkook might have had more input in the song selection that I thought, which makes me happy.
The song that I like the most is Standing Next to You. My music group loved the production of this song but thought Jungkook’s vocals were a little too smooth and not gritty enough. I disagreed with them and thought he sounded great, but that’s just me. Other songs that I like are Somebody, Hate You, Please Don’t Change and Yes or No (even though this one sounds dated it to me it’s fun enough that I forgive it) The other songs… not a fan of especially Shot Glass of Tears, Too Sad to Dance, and Closer. But these are just my opinions. If you love those songs, I am happy for you. Jungkook did nothing wrong on them, they just aren’t my taste.
I can’t wait for my albums to come! Very excited to get some stunning Jungkook photocards.
can’t wait

Standing in the fire next to you.. 🔥🔂
in the mood to throw my life away cuz nothing matters and I'm only a microscopic dot on a floating rock
Anyways...
Stream jk's GOLDEN
Current fav is 'Yes or No'
I feel like I wrote this 20 times today, but I'll never get tired of defending JK, so here we go again... Why after announcing CH2 did people understand that they were going to do everything on their albums? composing, producing, writing... it's no longer a mixtape, it's normal that they felt more pressure when doing it, that's perhaps the reason why Tae and JK, who were talking for years about their mixtapes and even gave songs to group albums, didn't feel comfortable with the songs they already had and decided on others.
Or maybe JK just didn't feel like making a personal album right now, maybe now he can't express as much as he would like... unlike Jimin who felt the need to do it now, and maybe PJM2 is more like JK's, and JJK2 is where he decides to share his stories, who knows.
And what about Jin? Will people criticize in the same way if he sings songs written by others? Cause it seems like the problem is always JK, I'm not too much on Tae's side on TW, but I didn't see the amount of hate that JK is getting for doing almost the same thing..
We can't expect all 7 of them to do the same thing or do it in the same way, wasn't that what this CH2 was about? to do things they couldn't do in BTS to grow as an artists? Well that's what he's doing. And he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, we already know what he is capable of, writing and producing wonderful songs.
Now he is going to show that he can also break all records and be that giant pop star that he wants to be.
Solos suck ass.
I can't believe a day came where i had to click uninterested on posts about Jimin or Jungkook.
The algorithm works this way the more you interact with something the more posts about the same thing/person will show up more. You all know i'm a Jungkook and Jimin stan so naturally my algorithm picks up that i'm interested in posts about them individually or together, which also means the algorithm suggests shitty posts the same as the ones i've seen earlier.
There's this one post i've seen and i'm not gonna share it cause really both parties are disgusting but this made me think.. This is why you should be mindful of what you say because later it can backfire, and the only one receiving hate from all that is the members.
Jimin and Jungkook solos are in this constant war getting back at each other and they're both setting up Jimin and Jungkook for hate. If you're a solo congratulations do you want me to give you a cookie for that? You go be a solo in your own bubble and talk about your fav all you want, but don't forget that you're a solo so keep other members names out of your mouth, don't go thinking that by dragging other members your fav will be happy with you. Thank you for all the efforts you do for the member you are solo'ing but that's all, that's literally all there is to thank you for.
Another thing i wanted to mention since some people felt the need to bitch about it. And i'm with @kkhluvsbts in this one, you are entitled to your own opinion about something as long as you stay respectful, if you feel a bit disappointed that you can't see JK being credited on any song in GOLDEN, fine whatever those are your feelings and no one can invalidate them, but going the extra mile to diss him about that?
A gentle reminder that Euphoria was not written by JK yet no one was barking about how it doesn't associate with him or how it doesn't represent him or how it doesn't mean anything to him, and to begin with as per Namjoon's words it was supposed to be a Jimin and Jungkook subunit but they decided to go for Jungkook only.
Jungkook didn't write Seven either but because he felt a connection to it he chose that one song, it's also the way he interprets each lyrics those are personal to him. When he was interviewed about Seven he made a slight distinction between the MV and the lyrics and this to me at least showed me how Jungkook sees the lyrics for himself, not how YOU perceive them or how YOU understand them.
Should i also remind you of the poems you google when you're an X mood and you post them because it defines how you feel at the moment? Should we invalidate your state at the moment because it wasn't written by you? Should we just pretend you are lying about your feelings at the moment cause you chose to post words written by someone else?
Also since y'all are being smartasses you do realize that Jungkook didn't start working on his album very early right? I do hope y'all weren't just hypocrites pretending to care about him when you don't even realize this. Writing your own songs can take a lot and i mean A LOT some people have been writing the same song for YEARS not just weeks or months, do you think JK would be happy to give us something he didn't have enough time to write properly?
I just want to understand what's so wrong with connecting with words that you yourself didn't write? When Jungkook chose "There for you" or "Best of Me" for his GCFs he didn't sing any of those yet he felt a connection with them and felt like they were the most fitting for what he was trying to show us.
I don't know just how long this fandom will keep on being dominated by immature brains. I come here everyday hoping i'd get inspired to write something cute about my biases but end up being disappointed with the shit happening. Y'all need to get a life istg.

It’s just…so them. 💜
