ROCK & RULE (Dir: Clive A Smith, 1983).

ROCK & RULE (Dir: Clive A Smith, 1983).

Rock & Rule is a futuristic, dystopian sci-fi rock musical from Canadian animation studio Nelvana.

On a post apocalypse planet Earth in which mutant rodents have displaced extinct humans as the dominant species, evil genius rock god Mok (voiced by Don Francks with singing by Lou Reed) plots to summon an inter-dimensional demon, presumably in pursuit of world dominance. In order to fulfill his maniacal plan he must engage the talents of Angel (Susan Roman with singing from Blondie's Deborah Harry), a young, ambitious singing mouse with the desired vocal frequency to open up a portal to the demon's domain. Kidnapping Angel and whisking her off to his lair in Nuke York, the pair are soon perused by Angel's fellow band members on a daring rescue mission. Yeah, I kinda lost the thread of the plot a couple of times, but what the hey? Hallucinogenics may help...

In front of this gasometer there's the metro station S1 Schöneberg that Iggy Pop and David Bowie were used to take to go to the lake Wannsee in Berlin. This was the inspiration for the song "The Passenger" (Lust for life, 1971).  This is my blue/black version of the events.

The passenger Song written by Iggy pop and Ricky Gardiner, recorded and released by Iggy pop on their 1977 album Lust for life. I personally prefer the song sung by Siouxsie Sioux, because I find her voice more fitting.

There's something so amusing to me about David Bowie's career cause like he just released flop after flop until out of nowhere he just exploded into stardom by roleplaying as a bisexual alien and he did that until he was coked out of his mind and had the most jarring transformation from being a walking pile of glitter into a depressed skeleton. And he just like. Went to Berlin with Iggy Pop and became a normal guy again. And that was just the 70s, he started the 80s by releasing an album where he was a sad clown but then he just got sucked into being a regular ass musician who made generic 80s music, tzen the 90s rolled around and he just proceeded to go absolutely apeshit again. Then he had like two albums in the 2000s before he dissapeared off the face of the earth for almost ten years. And then he came back, released an album then later another one on his 69th birthday and fucking died two days later

Tank Girl doesn't get enough love imo, it was made in 1995 and adapted from a comic book series, it has Lori Petty, Naomi Watts, Ice-T (who also did some of the music), Malcom McDowell, and Iggy Pop. The soundtrack is phenomenal, it has music from Joan Jett, Devo (their cover of their own song, Girl U Want is incredible), the magnificent bastards, Bush, Hole, and Veruca Salt. It's zainey, funny, semi-erotic, and the animated segments are phenomenal and hold up to this day. Everything about it is great. It's exactly what the MCU is trying to be these days.
