Personally I'm on the side of it being the correct choice for Ed, since his excessive trust in the power of alchemy was what led him to attempt human transmutation. Sure, everyone who willingly attempts it is, in doing so, overestimating alchemy's power, but they don't all have that as a core motive the way Ed did. For someone like Izumi, I feel like she only believed alchemy could do that because she had a more pressing emotional reason to believe it. She wanted it to be true. Ed had this too, obviously, but I feel like he would still have believed it possible even if Trisha never died.
if Izumi Curtis were to give up her gate for her womb back or whatever, could she have children again? Would she be able to accept life without alchemy the way Edward has and be willing to do it? would she be even able too? im assuming if you want to like "untrade" whatever you lost when you committed human transmutation you can just give up your gate. pretty sure Truth said it was the "correct" answer but the "correct" choice could be a universal answer or it could be correct just for Edward's circumstance.
if it is universal and if she wanted to be a mother that much I would think she would do it. but that's just a thought.
But honestly,, one of my favourite things in FMA is when someone, terrified for their lives, ask Izumi who she is, because she just majorly kicked ass - and probably theirs -, and she shouts pridefully and sometimes pissed off “A housewife!”
Like, anyone else would come up with something along the lines off “Your worst nightmare, pal!”, “The one who’s going to kick your ass!”, “You haven’t heard of me yet? Well, then it’s about time! I’m (insert title and/or name here)!”, or even just their name. Yet Izumi is so proud to be a housewife, and probably completely content being just that, so that she introduces herself as such and such only. She doesn’t even give them her name.
Also, I like to think she does it to, at least slightly, humiliate them and make herself feel better. Among some other things, she stopped a river from flooding Resembool, fought against Greed and managed to hold her ground, took over an outpost in Briggs, and each time someone asked who she was, she basically told them “a person who, by definition, stays at home and takes care of the household most day, and by any means has no business whatsoever to be here, and you still couldn’t stop them”.
And I admire her for all of this! And Ed had better be proud to, more or less, carry on her -scary as hell - legacy!
hello everyone I would like to take a moment to remind all of you that Edward Elric is probably a househusband and a goofy dad as well and there’s also a high chance that, inspired by Izumi and Maes, he brags about his family and often refers to himself as a househusband thank you for your time

Everyone he's known basically died to him, as he never was able to get that confirmation that Mustang and Al (And honestly the rest of Team Mustang, Armstrong, Izumi, *everyone* hes ever cared about) survived after he crossed through the Gate.
It was only in COS that he learned Al and Mustang, as well as everyone else save for Izumi and Wrath, survived. And it fucking crushes me because he never got to talk to any of them really. He can only get information from Al, who probably doesn't even know a good bit of things due to not involving himself with Armestris' military; Because he didn't have any memories of the four years Ed was a State Alchemist.
Something that I think is really sad about FMA 2003 is how Ed never found out that Mustang succeeded in his mission before he crossed over into the other world.
From Edward’s perspective, he just had to go on with the knowledge that both Al and Mustang might have been gone, and this was only a little while after he discovered that Hughes had died as well.

How I feel about this character
-> Ngl, I don't really like Izumi. I can't say why nessicarily, save for her treatment of 03 Wrath and how she treated the Elric brothers, because I just. Don't like her? I dunno, all the mother-esque characters make me feel weird. (This would include Trisha/03 Sloth.)
-> I don't really have much to say about her in comparison to other characters ngl. It's also 1:25 AM so I don't got my mind all there.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
-> I only ship Sig with her bc I don't see her with anyone else, and the two are canonically together.
-> I've seen a ship pairing of her and Olivier Armstrong, I'm not opposed to that shipping I think? I don't remember much about Olivier, needx to rewatch fmab still.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
-> I feel like her and Pinako would be decent friends??
-> Maybe if she met Hoenhiem she'd of befriend him, I'm pretty sure she befriended him in fmab so I wouldn't be off on the assumption.
My unpopular opinion about this character
-> Her beating the hell out of Ed after he told her that he and Al tried bringing back their mom was *really* uncalled for; A lot of her physical violence is uncalled for in my eyes, bitch threw knives at Ed when he was trying to get information from her. Unlike Winry, her violence doesn't come from worry (well, it does sometimes but it also doesn't; Izumi is also a grown woman whereas Winry is a little girl who ends up growing to realize that she can't just beat the fuck outta someone bc she's worried or frustrated with them because of that worry.), Izumi does it as a method of teaching. Even good behavior is given punishment.
-> Ed and Al are genuinely terrified of her, and when she hugged Ed after beating his ass; HE HAD A RIGHT TO LOOK AS BAFFLED AS HE DID.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
-> I wish she didn't beat Ed and Al to fuck like she does. Maybe then Ed and Al would've visited her or told her things, like when Ed became a state alchemist and shit. She learned years later.
-> 03 Wrath shouldn't of forgiven her. That's it.
-> That being said, I wish we could've had Izumi and 03 Wrath interacting more.

Love this! I don’t really think of Riza as a death machine, but I do agree with the rest and think that she’s AWESOME. These women are all amazing. So is Arakawa Hiromu. <3 FMA!
One more reason to love Fullmetal Alchemist (as if we needed one): its KICKASS GIRLS

Lan Fan: cuts off her oWN ARM to use as a diversion, ball of hatred Olivier: a bomb general, can crush her giant brother without breaking a sweat Izumi: lacks body parts but whoops ass like it’s nothing, just a passing housewife Riza: death machine, never backs down an inch, 300% reliable Winry: who said girls can’t be amazing mechanics? Maria: will of iron, heart of gold, a total angel
