Yokais in the world of Naruto...
An uncommon commodity !
Quite a few clans have Yokai blood, the Hatake, Nara and Hoshigaki for example.
But it's much more common to have that one random family with a Yokai ancestor.
It is quite easy to notice a half Yokai, since their humanity and spirituality have difficulty to mix together.
If you see someone having animalistic attributes and wearing a fur/scales coat or a feather/fang/horn as jewellery, they are probably half Yokai.
Those objects are a part of that person's soul.
Stealing it is taking away a part of them.
Destroying it is ripping apart a part of them.
They will survive. They will live. But they would be suffering for the rest of their existence. With not possibly of regaining what they have lost
Being trusted with such object by them is... Much more than just trust at this point.
They gave you a part of themselves. Of their soul.
It's a show of love.

Day 2 of Kisame week! I wrote this late at night and finished within an hour, and yet I kinda vibe with the slightly crack vibes it took with my exaggeration, so hopefully y'all enjoy!
Summary:
“You weren’t trying to catch me, you just happened to be in the way of my fall.”
Kisame Week 2021 Day 2 Prompt: Accidental Hero @kisameweek-2021
“Damn” she muttered under her breath as she stared frustrated up at the cupboard. Morning coffee was something she refused to go without, and normally, that wasn’t hard to assure happened, but with her house full of tall men, her favourite mugs were placed out of reach often. There it was, placed on the highest shelf far above her reach, her favourite coffee mug. It was just the right size for her morning brew, and now, before she could cradle her cup of joe, she had to attempt the treacherous climb to retrieve the one and only worthy coffee mug in the house. Of course, she could always ask one of her friendlier guests for some assistance, they were to blame for this inconvenience after all, and Kisame was standing right behind her fixing up his own breakfast, but her mind was made up. She also blamed her lack of caffeine for her inability to ask for help. Her palms pressed onto the top of the counter as she jumped up onto the counter. The overhang from the cabinet made her perch narrow, but she managed to open the door and reached up for her mug. Grasping the handle, she moved to get down, but she lost her balance. A shot of fear made her stomach drop as she fell backward. Instead of falling to the floor, her back pressed against Kisame’s own muscular one. He stiffened at the unexpected contact and relaxed as she pushed away from him, before landing carefully on her feet, prize safely in hand.
Kisame turned to look at the crazy woman who refused to drink from subpar coffee cups, took a moment to register what happened, and began to laugh. Not yet awake enough to feel the embarrassment she would later, she ignored his laughter and turned to pour herself some of the earlier brewed coffee, no doubt started by Kakuzu earlier. “You could have asked for some help, Shrimp, I’m right here.”
He was right of course, but she really had no rational reason for why she hadn’t just asked for his extra reach, so she just shrugged. His amused grin faded into uncertainty at her response, but it was back not a moment later as he pressed again. “Are you not gonna say thank you for my quicksave there?”
She found a seat at the table and took a sip of her precious caffeine before she retorted, “You weren’t trying to catch me, you just happened to be in the way of my fall.” she huffed. He followed her and took the seat across from her with his own breakfast.
“True,” he conceded, “But doesn’t that still make me your hero?” He asked, wiggling his eyebrows goofily. She was very quickly learning that out of all the Akatsuki members she had met, Kisame was the one that never failed to make her laugh, even when the caffeine hadn’t yet kicked in.
“Oh, my hero!” She sarcastically swooned, “So incredibly diligent he is to protect me even when his back is turned.” She grinned.
Both were laughing at each other when from the other room they heard Hidan loudly yell at them to “Shut the fuck up” as it was “Too fucking early!”
This of course only made them laugh even harder.

Hello to all new and old followers!
We're very happy to announce that it has now been a full year since Kisame's Corner was made live! If you were around before we changed our name, you'd know that we were the group behind Kisame Week 2021 (and we have some exciting news regarding that coming up!) but I have a few things I want to say first.
First, thank you so so much to all who have participated with us this past year. We are so happy and thankful to have such a wonderful group of people to talk to and share with, and you all make everything so wonderful. Who knew that such a loving and supportive community would come out of Kisame Hoshigaki, the love of all our lives?
The events that we ran this past year were all made possible by everyone's submissions and participation, and you may not have participated in any of them, you may have just read along, or cheered from the sidelines, but you were the ones that made everything possible. And we couldn't be more thankful for all that you've done.
Second, I want to give a massive shoutout to sharkfam, the lovelies that convene on discord to yell about our beloved shark man. Sharkfam has been with us through it all, since the start of this blog, Kisame Week, through the rain and shine that 2021 and now some of 2022 has brought us. They've provided feedback for other members, helpful advice, they talk amongst each other about things that bother them, things that they enjoy, and most importantly, their own ideas and works. I am forever grateful for this group of people and it could not have been possible without the love and support that they offer to those around them.
This is Bean writing this, so I'm also gonna include an extra shoutout to my lovely mod partners @heyitswrenn , @hellotheremaryrose , and @woofgang69 !!! You guys are so on top of everything and whenever anything gets us down, you're always there to pick us back up and cheer us on! These guys have been the most helpful additions to the team, and the best group of pals the likes of the internet has ever seen!

I was thinking about this while half asleep but the more I think about it the more it makes sense!!
Okay so hear me out, Kisame with a tiny pet kitten..
Like he found it orphaned while out on a mission w/ Itachi and decided to scoop it up into his pocket and keep it to raise as his own.
You’d expect a guy like him to have some type of exotic fish or a huge dog but instead he has the cutest fluffiest kitten that easily fits in your palm with the silliest name ever
And I can see him getting emotional over it growing up and getting too big for him to carry around in his palm or being genuinely offended whenever it waddles to Itachi instead of him 😭😭

Honestly, who's gonna Stop Jinbe x Kisame? Samehada surely is tame if wielded by a Fishmen, right? I think I COOKED this, its about 5hrs of work. Still not perfect, but I'm so proud!

I've been slowly getting back into the Naruto franchise since the pandemic started. I started watching the show when I was nine years old, stopped watching Shippuden shortly after the Deidara and Sasori introduction, and just waited for the series to end before picking it up again.
I've also always been a huge fan of the Akatsuki characters, namely Itachi and Kisame.
One thing I've observed with how Kisame, in particular, is how he's perceived by the fandom vs. how he is in the show. The fandom seems to see him as this cool headed, humorous, laid-back type of dude that you could probably get a few beers with and still feel safe around. It's vastly different from how brutal and ruthless he is in the show but I still see glimpses of that fandom perception in him when he's around Itachi -- and only Itachi.
And it's sweet. He's a literal monster. He's a ruthless and brutal killer. He's larger than life. But the moments we tend to hang onto are his most intimate (almost affectionate) moments with his partner. We cling to the fact that this cold blooded monster thought of his only friend in his last moments, fondly. We cling to glimpses of who he could have been had he not been trained to be who he is.
I dunno. I've always had an odd attachment to these two in particular and seeing them both through the lens of an adult with life experience makes me appreciate the softness that peeks through in the most hardened of people.
