It would make more sense and be way funnier if Cass and Jason were the ones doing that. They’re canonically so close in age that the fandom likes to say there’s a debate with the family about if Jason is older or if Cass is because the time he was dead doesn’t count. Also you could debate that Jason is canonically at least half Asian in some way because a lot of people tend to either forget or just don’t know that Lady Shiva was one of the women on the list when he was looking for his mom.
I need a fic where. Lady Shiva gets a redemption of some sort and basically adopts Cass and Tim as her little babies. Cass was expected because the woman literally gave birth to her, but everyone is confused about Tim until Lady Shiva suddenly goes “oh I trained him when he was a child. he killed me for a few seconds :D”

Through the Eyes of a Child
I’m really proud of this one, it’s rather long, and I really like the concept, the idea, of Steph as an assassin.
In which Stephanie Brown is an assassin for Lady Shiva.
Stephanie Brown is eight, and she is completely and utterly terrified. Her shoulder hurts, and there are gunshots and loud bangs and screams and thuds and unknown voices yelling. The voices are cold, hard, and send shivers down her back.
They’re accusing her father of something, and she doesn’t need to be a genius to know her dad must have ticked off the wrong people again. This was Gotham and her dad was a wannabe, a second rate criminal. This was bound to happen.
She just didn’t expect it to be now.
Another round of shots ring out.
One. Two. Three.
A scream, a thud, and footsteps. Then her bedroom door rips open and the foreign people seize her and take her far far away from home.
Stephanie Brown is nine, and life in the assassin compound is very different. She learned to use knives on meat, vegetables, fruit, and bodies. She learned to blend in, to hide in shadows, to hide in plain sight, to hide her emotions, to lie, to interrogate, to smile as to reassure someone before killing them.
She learns different ways to kill someone, five different ways to break someone’s arm, poisons and antidotes, different languages, getting out of bonds, and Orchid, the Amethyst Killer, becomes a household name.

Stephanie Brown is ten and she’s fighting and she’s angry and how dare they? Guards at her compound have rebelled, and she was called in, given orders to take them down.
The league had taken them in when no one else wanted them, trained them, and this is how the guards thank them?
Oh the guards, they laugh, how they laugh at first. They weren’t laughing when she slit all of their throats, admiring the way her new knife cut through them like butter.

Stephanie is twelve and by now everyone in and out of her compound knows her name. Everyone wants her, everyone vies for her as their own apprentice. To be in their own court. Ra’s, Talia, Lady Shiva, Deathstroke.
She chooses Lady Shiva of course, for she is the best and Stephanie only chooses the best.

Stephanie Brown is thirteen and she is home. Not home with her bullet ridden father and her drug overdosing mother, but home in the streets of Gotham. Someone had call for Mathias Black to be killed, and Stephanie aims to please.
And when she aims and when she’s about to shoot a batarang stop her. She is furious yes, but delighted too. Not only does she get to kill, she gets to play with the Batman’s new Robin. What a good night this was shaping up to be.
So they dance and he fights and she thinks this is all child’s play. And he thinks he’s in control but really Orchid is just playing him, manipulating him into position.
And he’s good, but she’s better. She finally moves him into place and she shoots and he dodges of course. But she didn’t miss. Oh no of course not. To miss would suggest that she missed her target but nope, that would never happen. She grins triumphantly and gestures for him to turn around and look at what she’s done. He didn’t want to at first, but Stephanie doesn’t give him a choice.
She forces him to turn around, to see her success, to see Mathias Black dead with a bullet in his chest. Because she’s not like the others. She doesn’t lose track of a goal just to go and beat a bat. Robin was never her target. She smirks and when he turns around, she’s gone.

Stephanie Brown is fourteen and she’s back in Gotham. Lady Shiva seems to be enjoying the way that Stephanie toys with Robin, dangling victory in front of his nose only to sweep the carpet out from under him. This time her orders are simple. Learn more about the current Boy Wonder.
So she prepares for her job, studying all know information about Robin to find patterns, to learn about his style, to learn about him. Soon she find one that goes with her own path and she climbs out the window to start hunting.
After killing a few people out of the many Lady Shiva has tasked her with, he finally graces her with his appearance. And as they dance again, she wonders if she should have been in Talia’s court instead, so it could be said like master like apprentice. Because eventually, she and Robin will end up like Batman and Talia, dancing on opposite sides. But she will be more successful, and Robin will be like putty in her hands when this is over.

Stephanie Brown is fifteen and is widely known as Lady Shiva’s favorite. No one dares to mess with her, partly of her own reputation and partly due to fear of the commonly known deadly female assassin whom she’s apprenticed to.
And the Shiva’s temper is fierce when her prized gem is harmed.

Her Robin has disappeared and female replacement runs along instead with her flaming red hair. Stephanie is disappointed of course, for she had enjoyed their dances, enjoyed toying with him, looked forward to visiting him.

Stephanie Brown is sixteen and her Robin is back as the Red Robin. The Batman is dead, the Son of the Bat running around as Robin now with the first Robin as Batman. Talia is very disappointed, and so is Stephanie.
Red Robin just wasn’t fun anymore, and their dances just weren’t the same. She tried them out before turning away and leaving their dances in disgust.

Stephanie Brown is seventeen and she has made her move on Red Robin. They were having one of their dissatisfying dances where she considered actually showing him what she was made of before he spoke to her.
And he made her so aggravated, so very aggravated that Stephanie did something she has never before. She lost her control and before Stephanie knew what she was doing, she pulled Red Robin in a heated kiss.
He hadn’t immediately responded, but when he did it was as if they were trying to kill each other. Their tongues were their weapons, and their determination to win were their shields.
It takes her a couple moments to realize that her back is pressing up against the wall in the alley way and how did they get into the alleyway? Weren’t they on the roof two minutes ago?
And they break apart and suddenly he’s kissing her again except it’s softer this time and nice and leaves tingles everywhere
And when they finally leave she just can’t wait to tell Lady Shiva about this one

Stephanie Brown is eighteen and she’s now officially a legal adult and she is so very content as she stabs her knife down into a new milestone.

I see a lot of fanon-y posts about rogues having a soft spot for the Batkids and kind of looking out for them, especially Harley and Ivy since they're completely defanged now, but all of that truly pales in comparison to whatever Lady Shiva has going on with Tim.

I wish there was a scene where the other robins take notice that Tim fights differently than the rest of them. I mean, so does Damian, but that makes sense because he was in the League for his whole life basically. But Tim? Why does he fight like that?
Damian: Its weird. You move and fight like you learned from an assassin.
Dick: Yeah, now that I’m thinking about it, you fight differently than how Jason and I did as Robin. When did Bruce teach you assassin techniques and how to use a Bo staff?
Tim: Oh, no. Lady Shiva taught me.

Ngl I feel like Cassie is baned from training any one cause it’s traumatizing.
Like they left her alone with Young Justice for an hour and came back to find them all shot and crying in corners while Cass calls them babys.
It isn’t even her fault because that’s how she trained and was going easy.
HELLO CASSANDRA CAIN FANS!
Ok, I have a question for you guys. I don’t know that much about Cassandra, (sadly) mostly because I haven’t found the time to read her comics, but I have a question…
I know the basics of her character. She was trained by her father, David Cain, her first language is to read body movements, she wasn’t taught how to speak and had a horrible life as a child, and then David took her to kill a man at age seven, after which she realised it was wrong and ran away, right? (It’s what I’ve seen in fanfics, Wikipedia, and just fannon memes and stuff)
So here’s my question….
What does she do in the ages 7-when she meets Batman.
Like, what’s she doing? Where’s she going? Was she just a random seven year old child stealing food from people to survive? How’d she meet Barbara/Batman and how old was she?
Sorry if it’s a confusing question/has a huge answer, I just really need to know and I can’t find it anywhere else-
