Lotr Rop - Tumblr Posts

Honestly what he did would probably be considered weird by most people today, nevermind back then

Some Tolkien fans, especially the performatively Christian ones, love to paint a picture of Tolkien as this staid, conservative Oxford don, a stereotypical mid-twentieth-century British academic.

The real JRR Tolkien was a FUCKING WEIRDO. We tend to forget today how completely fucking bizarre his obsessive hobby was to his contemporaries. CS Lewis wrote some fantasy novels. Tolkien CREATED A FUCKING PLANET with history and myths and languages and races and maps and ITS OWN FUCKING BIBLE. And he spent his ENTIRE LIFE working on it, expecting that only a small percentage of it would ever be published or seen by other people.

Tolkien was a FREAK. Don't let so-called fans take that away from him.

I Found This Scene Really Weird And Forced. If She Knew Elros And Apparently Is Elrond's Best Friend,

I found this scene really weird and forced. If she knew Elros and apparently is Elrond's best friend, shouldn't she be nicer to their descendants. Also if she had mentioned it earlier, then maybe she would have had an easier time in Nùmenor. But what bother me the most about this scene is this painting. It looks like someone painted everything else except for Elronds head, and then someone different came in later and did his head in a completely different style. His head looks so realistic compared to the rest of the painting. Like someone photo-shopped his head on an old picture and used a filter or something.

Also aren't they suppose to be identical twins. I can't find anything similar about them. Their eyes, their headshape, their nose, their eyebrows, even their ears are different. I mean Elros looks more like Thorin's long lost twin. Maybe if you squint really hard, but something is just really weird about this painting.

The only great thing about this painting is that the elves have long hair, :)

" nobody goes off trail and nobody walks alone."

" Nobody Goes Off Trail And Nobody Walks Alone."

It may sound ok depending on the situation but It just takes up so much screentime. I think most of the hobbit story we have seen up to now is just about how bad things happens to you if you leave the trail. Also it's more like "nobody goes off trail and nobody walks alone …. unlesss something happens and you get hurt or you can't keep up, then you will be left behind without hesitation, every man for themselves, survival of the fittest and all that stuff..,bye". For someone with hearts bigger then their feet and who only wants to protect eachother, they sure can be cruel.

I Want To See Galadriel Be A Strong And Independant Woman While Fighting Together With The Boys And Not

I want to see Galadriel be a strong and independant woman while fighting together with the boys and not against them. Just back to back, suporting each other, all while kicking ass. Strong female characters AND strong male characters working together.

Just imagine young Galadriel and young Elrond being sassy and witty teenagers going around destroying people.

Them making strategical moves, collectiong evidence, countering Sauron's advances, knowing he is out there but not know where. Visiting the other cities and races to gather evidence and information, Elrond going to Numenor to ask for help since they are his brothers decendants. Them encountering the other main characters on their journey. Them bantering like best friends, making mistakes, fighting, making up, making tough choices and them growing together as characters troughout their travels as the story gets more and more serious. Just them being great friends without any romantic feelings.

(not my picture)

Whoever made the costumes for Rings of Power sure do like weird looking gold and pearls. The second age were aparently not the age of jewelry making. (unless you are Celebrimbor and Sauron).

Really does make you miss and apreciate the Peter Jackson movies costume department a lot more. They did a great job making it so that each of the different races and peoples had their own characteritic design, style and culture. Separating them from each other.

The costumes in Rings of power looks like they all were designed by the same designer. There's not much that separate the different races. Only the Silvan elves weird wooden armor stands out, but once this is gone, you can't really differentiate between the humans and the elves.

The elves leaving Valinor:

Me and my sister was talking about Rings of power ep1, and I said something about how the elves left Valinor like a bunch of hattifatners in all their tiny boats. She loved it and said I had to make a comparison, so here it is. Please enjoy.

Halbrand - bad plan

If Halbrand is Sauron, what do you think his plan was?

do some bad stuff -> get on boat -> get shipwrecked -> don't get eaten by giant sea monster -> Be only survivor on shipwreck -> randomly meet very important angry elf in the middle of the ocean -> become "friends" with angry elf -> Get saved by new important nice guy who also is in the middle of the ocean -> Join them to random place -> Great, it was Numenor -> just stay here and be blacksmith -> annoy angry elf some more -> make a lot of trouble -> get trown into prison -> NOT become king of the soutlands!! -> STAY -> infiltrate and watch them destroy themselves (on hold) -> gets bossed around by angry elf -> leave with angry elf and tiny army to destroy hisown army...... wait a minute.

he's basically just there randomly, no real motivation, just at the right place at the right time, or at the wrong place at the wrong time. depends on how you look at it. He just wants to be left alone and Galadriel keeps pushing him around and guilt-tripping him to do stuff. They are not really friends, they just happened to survive together for awhile and Galadriel won't let him go.

If this is Sauron, i'm either really disapointed by his planning abilities or really impressed.

travel distance in rings of power is weird

I think it is very strange that Galadriel and Halbrand travelled from Mordor to Eregion in only 6 days. In lotr Boromir travelled almost the same distance in 110 days. (I looked this up on a wiki). Even if he lost his horse in Tharbad, it should still take Galadriel more than 6 days. She is travelling with a mortally wounded person, therefore she should be more careful and probably take longer than if she was alone. The speed they apparently travelled with should have killed Halbrand long before they even made it to Eregion.
