Chapter 8 Summary: After three weeks since seeing Magnus, and after having his phone confiscate, things seems to be increasingly worse for Toki.
Story summary: It’s been several months since the events of Doomstar, and Toki and Magnus are no where closer to talking about the events that took place in the basement. Only, now Toki is, and after spending a drunken night together, decides to use music as a potential means to reach out and hopefully communicate with a hesitant Magnus.
Meanwhile, Magnus deals navigating around his past mistakes, making a living and facing his rapidly developing feelings for the younger man, all while trying to come up with some original music.

“Alright, alright,” Magnus holds his arms awkwardly out to the sides and waves one hand. “Bring it in.”
“Really?” Melmord raises one brow skeptically.
“What am I going to do? Stab you? Get in here.”
Melmord crushes into his torso with enough force to knock the breath out of Magnus and make his chest hurt. He wraps his arms uncertainly around the other man, not quite sure anymore how this is supposed to work. After an awkward minute he realizes this isn’t going to end any time soon and starts to relax.
“Jesus,” Melmord says, his cheek on Magnus’ shoulder. “You are one skinny motherfucker. It’s like hugging one of those wire monkeys.”
“...what?”
“You know? That one experiment where they put baby monkeys with the fake monkey mamas, one wire and one all soft and shit. To see if the monkeys wanted food or love more.”
“What the hell are you talking about, buddy?”
“Science, man.”
“So you’re saying...?”
He shrugs, arms tightening around Magnus’ ribs. “That I’d starve to death for a hug, I guess.”
Magnus opens his mouth to reply but gives up.
Another minute passes and Magnus finds himself folding over, resting his chin on top of Melmord’s head. A little sniffle breaks the silence.
“Dude. Are you crying?”
“Am I?” Melmord’s voice cracks. “Oh shit. Sorry man. It’s just...been awhile, you know?”
“Just...don’t get snot in my hair.” He squeezes the shoulders in his hold and rocks a little on his feet, the awkward embrace becoming something more genuine.
Haha, oh the troubles of a filthy multishipper! XD In any given fandom I probably have an opinion on every possible ship. I'm pretty sure this is impossible to parse and trying to list everything is literally overwhelming me. XD Alas I don't know who made the template, but thank you, this was fun!
OTP - one true pairing, best of the best, I will kiss you on the face for making content of any of these ships! - Magnus x Pickles - MagPickles - Magnus x Toki - Hammertooth, Magtok - Pickles x Toki - Tickles, my first MTL ship <3 I will lose my shit in a good way if anyone besides me ever did anything with the unholy trinity of Pickles x Toki x Magnus. :D

I feel like it's worth saying that I do look at content in the "nah" and "NOTP" categories if there's something even a little interesting to me in it. In many cases I used to be more fond of some ships and either saw/read something so upsetting I can't enjoy the ship anymore (SkwisTok, Nickles) or met too many assholes who soured the ship by association (PickleGail, NateGail, MagCharles). But even with those ships you can get my attention by writing them in a certain way (still love me some twisted sociopath Charles lording it over Magnus :D). I'd tip my hat to anyone who could make a Knubbler ship that isn't DickFace work. XD
Look, I'm not kidding about how much I love this movie. When I was an artist for a Metalocalypse horror film zine (Snuff Films) my first piece idea was immediately Pontypool. XD
And here it is: the exact moment Magnus realized he fucked up. A shame that realization didn't stick.
It's my yearly reread of practically everything in the AO3 Magnus tag and finding all these amazing fics I don't remember reading but left comments on in another life is... a lot. It's weird and sad seeing visceral proof that you lost a chunk of your life. I barely remember being in this fandom except for a vague sense that I had a lot of fun with some very dear people and that by the end I was probably being an asshole in ways I couldn't quantify at the time. Seems about right for a Magnus fan; I've only met one I could say for sure wasn't fucked up somehow.
Anyway. Don't get bullshitted into doing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) kids. It'll fuck you up bad in ways nobody will warn you about and even if, by some strange happenstance, it actually does anything good for you, the price is insanely high and you'll have to gamble with it again in the future when the shit wears off and who knows what you might lose. Also the doctors who make it sound so great will absolutely fail to double check if you are contraindicated for it via other medical problems and that's definitely not a risk you want to take.
