Medieval Architecture - Tumblr Posts
Yay! Etymology!
I made a gargoyle in ceramics class when I was 12! It probably counted more as a grotesque according to this post but I put little holes in its mouth and under its wings to make openings into the hollow centre.
I might be hallucinating like ChatGPT but I'm pretty sure they defended castles by draining burning oil rather than water to set castle invaders on fire.
My gargoyle was a hippocampus btw. I'm pretty sure that it's disappeared permanently 😞 but I might have photos somewhere.
