Medieval Weapons - Tumblr Posts

I am watching a video on the gun axe from @shadiversity and the intro consisted of Shad talking about peanut butter and jam, saying "In America they call it jelly: it's jam!" and I find it funny, because in America, Jelly and Jam are two different things.

I was researching medieval weaponry, for a school project, not for writing purposes actually, and stumbled upon these images of various polearms (source), and it occurred to me that they matched Rafal's aesthetic, especially in TLEA, so enjoy, I guess?

Couple of little random weapon concepts. Nothing too special. I did give them placeholder names when I saved them; "Cross Fang" and "Splintering Glaive".

Because having to choose just one is too difficult, they don't wanna put u under pressure. Flail is really cool, it's a ball on a chain on a stick (and I have fond memories of learning about it when reading an encyclopedia and looking through medieval arms looking for all the toy ones I have), morningstar is cool and literally named Lucifer like c'mon, and then there's the flanged mace - just an immortal classic, an icon. Simple yet effective and iconic

Oh my God, we just kept throwing rocks at each other...

I need to lie down.

Sometimes I think about how the entire history of the advancement of human weapons can be boiled down to: “we found more elaborate ways to hit things with rocks…”

Spears? Sharpened rocks.

Slingshot? Ranged rocks.

Arrows? Sharpened rocks with range.

Hammers/Clubs? Refined rocks.

Swords/axes? Sharpened refined rocks.

Guns? Sharpened, refined rocks, propelled by explosives…

We discovered how to make explosives, and we fine tuned that technology to better propel refined and sharpened rocks at insane distances… we are still hitting things with rocks… we just became experts in the science of hitting things with rocks… The human race is basically just a “dump everything into geology” build…
