The glow of Bdubs's base would look cool in snow.

Nightfall has descended upon the server. Meanwhile the blizzard, now joined by a howling wind, continues to rage on as a lone figure trudges through the storm.

A torn flag waves in the distance as the figure reaches a familiar cliffside. The hybrid looked out towards the tilted flagpole and followed it down into the abyss.

The polar vortex below him was intimidating, he knew this to be certain. But despite the danger, he knew that he had to delve down into the icy depths of the Perimeter. After all, Doc needed his help.

And if the other hermits deemed it too dangerous, then Ren would just have to brave the danger alone.

" It's strangely beautiful, isn't it?"

" H-Huh?"

" The snow, Impulse. You've been watching it for the past hour."

" I... I Guess it is, Pearl. Uh, s-sorry, what were we talking about before?"

" We were talking about building the rest of the rooms for the other hermits.... We were also talking about you needing to take a break."

" A break? Pearl I don't need a break. I need-"

" To find them, I know."

....

" Pearl?"

" Yeah?"

" Do you think that we'll ever see the sun again?"

" I'd like to hope so, Impulse.... Now come on, let's get you some soup and send you to bed. Gem, Scar, and I can handle the building from here."

" W-What about the farms?"

" Etho's handling that as we speak."

" Thanks.... Thanks Pearl..."

" You're welcome, Impulse."

Frozen Over Prologue -Winter Warnings-

X stood in the center of Spawn. The bone mage’s tail swished as he typed into his communicator then scrolled through the multiple different displays of server information. Each panel, to Xisuma’s delight, was showing accurate information. But as the hermit began closing each display for the day, X stopped as a red screen appeared amongst the vibrant purples.

The hermit narrowed his eyes,

“ Hmmm….” The admin thought as he pulled the screen towards him and discarded the others to the side, “ The temperature of the server has gotten a bit colder, and there’s apparently a haze in the air…? ” he read aloud as he looked towards the sky.

The admin’s tail swished again as he continued to scroll through the text. He tilted his head as he scrolled through the temp maps and snowfall measures in the already cold areas of the server. And to his confusion, it seemed like the clouds were spreading out and the snow was falling at a higher rate than normal. What was usually a lighter dusting of snow, it seemed to be a couple of centimeters higher than normal.....

So, I will now be posting an actual fanfic for Frozen Over AU on Ao3! The story will be pretty slow going at the start; however I do have plans on writing the whole thing.

For now Frozen Over will be the only story on my Ao3; however, I will eventually be posting other stories for AUs that I've talked about on Tumblr as well. This is just a test of the waters.

Anyone ever accidently do a magic trick and make your dog's toy disappear and now you both can't find it?

I got him a new toy to play with, but we're both confused still.

The world is a darkened abyss and yet I hold the only lantern. Its light is fading fast and yet we wander through the swamps of gloom before us.

We don't know what we seek in the dark. More light? Some kindling? Another face in the dark?

Neither of us know. Neither of us care....

" Did you find what you were looking for?"

" AH!" .... " h-hOW?" *breath* " H-How did you find me, Cub?"

" A certain Imp gave you away."

" Right... But yeah, I did find what I was looking for... I just needed to collect some materials from my old place. T-To move to my new room."

" ...Do you miss it?"

" Huh?"

" Scarland... Being outside in the sun, playing Hermit games and such..."

" 'Course I do Cub. Scarland was finally opening to the rest of the server and now... It's buried. All my work falling apart in front of me."

" Of course I miss it.... I would love to feel the sun on my face.. I would love to see the smiles on the other hermits' faces as we played games and laughed at our own jokes...."

" And Cub?"

" Yeah?"

" I'm scared that things won't go back to normal..."

" I know bud.... I am too...."

A semi-canon (Haven't decided how canon it is) story for Frozen Over.

I had two ideas for Scarland's depiction in Frozen Over. And while I will do the other one, eventually. This idea of the statues had my attention more.

The second idea for Scarland involves main street being covered in snow.

I enjoy how this drawing came out.

Ma, there's a weird looking dog outside the coliseum. It's got a dagger, ma.

I've been working on references for Frozen Over AU. Everyone's refs are in no particular order.

Heck, the order that I post them in won't even reflect the order that I drew them in.

Scar:

Scar in this AU is a half elf; A half forest elf to be more specific. Forests can very in their climate, flora, and fauna. Forest elves are no different. On top of this, Forest elves can share appearances with species native to the forest or are present in their lives.

The forest elf that Scar gets his halfness from is from a moderate climate. It does see snow on occasion. Scar also gets more beastial, cat-like traits (fangs, nose, a tail).

2. Cubfan:

Cub is, like a lot of interpretations of his character, a bear hybrid. I had the idea of a black bear going on in my head for awhile. But, ultimately, he's probably just a bear.

Cub is also very sleepy during the events of this AU. Poor guy. Not too much to say about his design and hybridness besides what I've already said.

Neither Scar nor Cub are vexes in this AU. They were cured of that during a prior season.

Also, Cub is actually slightly taller than Scar (both around 6'0). Scar is just slouching a bit. Scar also will have his wheelchair in the AU. I just need some time to figure out a design (maybe snow treads? or snow wheels? Haven't decided)

3. Impulse:

Impulse is a dwarf. A cave dwarf to be more specific. Cave dwarves are use to cold temperatures of the deeper, wetter caves that they could inhabit.

Impulse is a cave dwarf that lives within more hotter cave climates. Lava and such. Hence why Impulse where's shorter sleeves. His body temperature runs warmer.

Impulse's design is basically a more fleshed out version of the concept I've drawn for him. I've also changed Impulse's horn shape a bit and give him a tail. His tail is made of thin hairs with a large tuft on the end.

4. Zedaph:

Zedaph is still a sheep hybrid. He's extra wooly now that this freeze has set in on the server. He still wears the big, poofy coat though (visibility and also fashionable).

Zedaph's design was the first design that I actually had finalized. I just couldn't get the idea of Zedaph in a big pink coat out of my head. Zedaph is also the first person to be in his Frozen Over get up in the AU.

Separated versions of Cub and Scar under the cut (I couldn't fit Scar's tail in). Impulse and Zedaph don't have separated versions due to their designs being more compact on the canvas:

Huh. Something's wrong about today. Ah well. It's probably nothing.

Still feelin' a bit weird today. I'm certain that it's fine.

More references for Frozen Over AU! I'm having fun figuring out how to translate the pencil sketches to actual references.

Pearl:

Pearl's a dragon hybrid in this AU. She may appear to be an ice dragon; however, she's actually a lunar dragon. When her wings are outstretched, there's moon patterning (with some stars).

Lunar dragons, despite being reptilian, can survive in the cold. They also have excellent night vision. During the winter, these hybrids appear paler, ghostly even than normal.

2. Gem:

Gem is a deer hybrid in this AU. Gem's design doesn't actually change much from how I usually draw her. Although, I did change her antler design for the upteenth time.

Honestly, Gem and Pearl have pretty simple designs due to me wanting to do more drawings for the AU.

3. Mumbo:

Mumbo is technically a shapeshifter in this AU. Following the whole stealing a portion of Grian's soul ordeal. So every time Grian's species changes, it seems like Mumbo follows suit.

I really liked how Mumbo's cold wear came out. I wanted something that still looked professional and business-like. The neck scarf was just a way to add brighter colors to him.

4. Grian:

Grian is a shapeshifter/Watcher. He tends to lean more towards creatures that can fly. It helps to hide his Watcher wings. Also, as a bat hybrid, he can fold his wings over himself when he gets cold.

Grian's Winter wear is pretty much the same as the concept. Nothing really changed.

Out of this bunch, Pearl and Mumbo are my favorites. But, all of these hermits have some new attempts at shading done. Nothing too fancy.

Also, below the cut is a separate version for Pearl and Gem:

Pearl and Gem have separate versions due to Pearl's long tail. Most of it is hidden in the main drawing. Kind of like how Scar's tail was covered up in a previous drawing.

More reference doodles for Frozen Over AU. The following references are probably the most like their sketch counterparts.

Xbcrafted:

Xb is a guardian hybrid. Dressed as he usually is besides a more fluffier hood. Xb is doing decently well in the cold weather. But, it is unfortunate that the waters that he enjoys swimming is freezing up.

2. Hypnotizd:

Hypno is hypno hybrid. He's doing well in the cold. Despite being a hypno hybrid, this hermit doesn't have too many psychic abilities.

However, if he focuses, he can telepathically reach other hermits and can even put them to sleep. But on the down side, this does seem to take a lot out of him.

3. Ethoslab:

Etho is a kitsune hybrid. On the surface, he appears to just be a plain fox hybrid with a strangely colored tail tip (purple-y).

Not too much changed with Etho's design from sketch + skin to this. I did want to draw him with his mask down though. His vest is probably my favorite detail. Some texturing.

4. BdoubleO100:

Bdubs is a plant hybrid. He's got vines, moss, and other random plant things. Usually he's good with the cold, but something's wrong with him and he's underprepared. The sun being beyond a thick layer of clouds is messing with him as well.

He should be alright though...

But anyways, Bdubs' design hasn't changed at all. He's slightly scruffier but still, not much.

From Etho and his many tails to Xb and his spiked tail, these designs are much more complicated than the rest that I've done.

Once I'm finished with the last batch that I can show, then I'll update a master list that links everything Frozen Over together.

Mighty Has A Funky Dream

So, had a funky dream last night. I had joined a new season of Hermitcraft; however, I wasn't the only new person to join (more on that later).

This new world was a strange modded world for some reason. There was a bunch of modded textures like big dinosaur skull patterns in the ground, bones, and other oddities.

I had just gotten back to where I was going to build a starter base when I came upon the Boatem gang + Zedaph and Xisuma dangling foxes and other creatures off some scaffolding. Cleo and Doc were also watching the contest. I was going to join but I was afraid of heights and nearly fell a couple of times.

A few moments later and I'm mining some bone, iron, and coal. Cleo joins me and I'm pointing out the odd textures that I've been finding.

This is also when we're joined by another new member to the server, CaptainSparklez. The two of us start joking with each other (making bone puns mainly) until Cleo calls out to us and tells us to look at this zombie goat texture on the ground. Cleo winds up hitting the thing with their pickaxe and bam! An actual zombified goat pops out.

The thing waddles around for a bit, making a horrid bleating sound before stumbling up to Sparklez and myself. The thing bites Sparklez on the arm before dying.

Cleo and I both ask if he's okay and he's uncertain. He says that we'll find out in 10 seconds...

But then a massive lightning strike hits near my house and wakes me up.

The final ref, for now at least, of Frozen Over AU. Now I can focus on the more interesting drawings for this AU.

ZombieCleo:

Ah, Cleo, still a zombie in this AU. Them being a zombie means that they can survive the cold without worrying about freezing to death.

However, there's something strange going on with Cleo. Their skin is gaining a blue-ish hue. It's probably not anything.

2. Falsesymmetry:

False is a hawk hybrid. The queen of heads, hearts, and body parts. Not too much changes about False in this AU. She's in charge of surveying the frozen lands for supplies, helping hermits, and keeping notes on the land.

In fact, False is the creator of a guide book that notes mobs, fallen locations, and other survival tips.

3. Vintagebeef:

Beef is a bull hybrid in this AU. He's tired but trying to keep up morale with TCG and making music. But in his down time, he's exploring the outside of Impulse's base for supplies and working on making a garden function underground.

4. Xisumavoid:

X is a dragon hybrid. Specifically, he's a bone dragon. He does have the ability to summon bony wings, horns, spikes, and a tail. Being a hybrid of what's technically an undead creature, Xisuma has some unique characteristics.

For example, he's almost fully immune to cold damage. He can also slightly control skeletons (he can stun them just slightly) enough time to get away).

X is also very tired. Man has not slept since the snow started. He's desperately trying to fix whatever used this everlasting blizzard... Hopefully he can fix it.
